Hello,

Would anyone like to join a thread for TTC after ectopic/miscarriage, or when facing other challenges eg age, PCOS etc? DP and I have just decided to try again for no2, and I'm going to come off the pill. It would be nice to have some buddies to share experiences and support each other 🙂

About me:

Pregnancy 1: conceived first cycle age 35, healthy pregnancy, DS born summer 2021 (now age 2)

Pregnancy 2: conceived first cycle age 37, ectopic, surgery November 2022

My plan is to eat well, exercise, cut out alcohol, and generally look after myself.

Because I got pregnant quickly both times, I'm hoping our chances are still good...no idea how only having the one fallopian tube is going to affect things 😬

I think I'll do OPKs but not sure about temping yet.

Would love to hear from others!

I would like to join, would be great to share the journey with others. Sorry to hear about your ectopic.

About me:

Pregnancy 1 - April 2023, conceived first cycle, miscarried at 7 weeks.

Pregnancy 2 - July 2023, conceived first cycle, ectopic. Treated with methotrexate so saved both tubes.

I have recently had a HyCoSy and both tubes are clear so this month will be our first trying again. Trying to stay positive and hopeful that we conceived quickly both times but worried the ectopic may have changed things! Our plan is to try and relax as much as possible and track using OPKS (worked both times previously).

Hello @Lostlawyer26 thanks for joining. Welcome aboard 😊

Sorry to hear about your losses. Good you could keep both your tubes (although the diagnosis must have been really stressful for you, horrible isn't it?).

Do you know what cycle day you're on?

Was the HyCoSy an NHS treatment? Great to have that reassurance your tubes are clear.

I'm going to count this as CD1, as both times I've come off the pill to TTC I've ovulated 2 weeks later - fingers crossed it's the same this time. And that I ovulate on the "good" side.

I'd like to join if that's okay. A bit about me:

TTC #2, been trying for almost a year
First baby conceived no issues after 5 months
Had two ectopics since, first treated with MTX (left) and the second ruptured and removed (right).

I had a hycosy in august which luckily showed my left tube is clear and doesn't look scarred from the first ectopic.

I also have PCOS just to add another annoying thing about my body!

If we don't conceive this cycle, I'm getting day 2 and 4 bloods done to see whether medication might help, if there's an issue with ovulation.

Anybody else noticed ovulation is now consistently later after an ectopic? I used to ovulate day 21-22 but now it's day 26 every month since the last one!

Good luck everyone x

Oh PS I'm 4DPO now for this cycle.

I would really like to join too if that’s ok, although we have decided our first month trying will be December.

Pregnancy one- pregnant first cycle, uncomplicated pregnancy. DS born Dec 2020.

pregnancy two- pregnant first cycle but miscarried at 16 weeks in March 2023.

both were really quick so I am hoping that with opk it will ok falling pregnant but who knows.

Hello both! Thanks for joining too. Great to have a little gang ☺️

@lemonyfox sorry to hear you've had a bumpy ride. Good you've had the HyCoSy. Hope it wasn't too uncomfortable? How old is your DC1 btw? Mine is 2 and a bit.

Exciting to be 4dpo! How are you coping with the 2w wait so far?

@Nic2908 16wks - that must have been really rough. So sorry.

Definitely good it was first cycle both times, fingers crossed you won't have to wait long for a BFP.

Is anyone using an app? Any recommendations?

Despite being nervous, I'm also already fully obsessed and have ordered some OPKs for tomorrow and some vitamins. Also been for a short run this afternoon, pleased about that.

Thanks for the message on my post! I would love to be part of the discussion. Your journey sounds very similar to mine.

Pregnancy 1 in 2021 at the age of 35. Quick conception, healthy baby born in October 2021

Pregnancy 2 in 2022, ectopic and resulted in tube removal.

I then had a cone biopsy in august this year for 3 CIN3 HPV related lésions and have just been given the all clear to try for number 2.

I'm worried about my age and only having one tube too but, same as you, as both pregnancies were conceived very quickly I am hoping that it will be ok !

How do you feel ? Thank you for starting up the thread, it feels good to chat with people in the same situation ! X

Should also add that in currently 7dpo of the first cycle of trying!

YellowZ · 12/11/2023 20:36

Oh 7dpo is great - not too long until you have an answer @lucie1987

How do I feel? Very mixed, I think.

We've had a fairly intense time over the last year with other family stuff, a house move etc. In theory, DP would be happy to stick at 1 DC. I keep thinking about a second! Now that DP has said OK let's go for it, I'm actually feeling quite scared!

I guess you have a better idea the 2nd time round what you're letting yourself in for, so that's kind of daunting, but at the same time I really want it to happen, and there's the fear that it won't work? Or of another loss.

Erk!

Thanks @YellowZ. The hycosy was fine, I thought they hadn't even started yet and they said "all done" no pain or anything at all. My little one is 3, I ideally only wanted 3 years between them and the next baby but life hasn't worked out that way. If we're lucky to have another then I suppose a silver lining is less pressure of two nursery fees at the same time!

I'd love to join as also trying for #2 and have had an ectopic.

Pregancy 1 conceived after 6 cycles/5 months. Straightforward pregnancy and birth. I had a lot of risk factors piled on in the pregnancy though: prolactinoma, high bmi, family history of clots and known beforehand. Then during pregnancy they added: low Papp-A, endometriosis and a 10 cm cyst - I was told it would have been difficult for me to conceive, however pregnancy was very straightforward.

Pregnancy 2: accident but ended up in ruptured ectopic. I didn't know i was pregnant until almost 7weeks as I had a normal period just a few days early. I had my 10cm cyst removed during the op - they don't know what it is, I was told endometrioma as they what it looked like I had on scans, but biopsy said it was a benign functional cyst, which consultant said she was a bit stumped by as they don't grow that big or last that long.

We've now been trying 4 cycles since the ectopic, I had a BFP (I think - may have been an evap) yesterday and this morning but was accompanied by painful cramping and heavy bleeding (period 3 days early). I'll test again once this period is over in case I'm having a repeat ectopic but I'm fairly sure today is CD1 for me!

Hi, maybe I could join in?

TTC #1, been trying since April. Turning 38 in 9 days.

Have PCO (PCOS without the syndrome, is what I was told, which apparently means I am regularly ovulating). OPK show positive for 2 days then go back to negative.

Had SIS, which showed that one tube may be blocked, and the presence of a polyp, which was removed by hysteroscopy a month ago.

Currently on CD1 😔

Hi @Annonomous29 @CatCaretaker and @Confusedddddddd thanks for joining!

Sorry to hear it's CD1 for a few people ...at least we can be cycle buddies.

Sorry @Confusedddddddd to hear about the ruptured ectopic and other issues. Fingers crossed it's not a repeat ectopic - hard not to worry once you've been through it.

@CatCaretaker I didn't know you can have PCO without the S. How did you find out you have it? If you have a blocked tube, is that effectively the same as only having one tube?

@Annonomous29 ahh it'll be nice for your older 2 to have a baby around as well 🤞 will the thyroid issues have an impact on TTC, do you think?

Hehe lots of questions for everyone.

I have been told it doesn’t have much impact but then some say it does as you are not producing much hormones so you need to be at a certain range with your thyroid level but was told it can definitely make it more difficult ttc and easily miscarry by the Gp but theres nothing much they can do until 1 yr of ttc.

Tbh im just soo confused and scared 😱 as ttc is one stress and then after conceiving risk of miscarrying I don’t think am strong enough to go through it.
But I know im thinking way ahead.
I really didnt think it was this difficult ttc as I got pregnant twice accidentally its like and emotional rollercoaster I have no idea how people go through this for 1/2 years maybe longer 1 month has made me go mental.🤯

Hiya, would love to join too if that’s okay!

Our journey:
April 2020 - Pregnant after 5 months of trying, ended in ectopic pregnancy but was treated with methotrexate so both tubes are intact
December 2020: BFP after 5 months of trying
August 2021: Our DD was born

CD1 today and it’s our first month trying so we’re right at the start. Wondering if it’ll be 5 months again like the last 2 times! I do worry it’s going to be longer as I’m a bit older now (32) and carrying a lot more weight than a few years ago 🙈 but we’ll see!

Report
YellowZ · 13/11/2023 17:27

@MrsB2019x hello! Welcome ☺️ maybe it'll be quicker than 5m this time round, you never know! 32 isn't too bad - it's after 35 everything starts to go swiftly downhill? Good luck for your first month! Will you be using OPKs/temping?

It was first cycle both times for me, so I've got it in my head that I'll be pregnant in a month 🙈 Despite definitely being old and only having 1 tube haha!

Since having DS I've eaten really badly, especially too much sugar all the time. I've lost some weight over the summer - I wasn't overweight, but was at the upper end of healthy - and have started running again, so I hope that's going to help. Especially the cutting out the constant sugary crap.

@Annonomous29 I know what you mean about the stress - don't worry, I bet you can cope with it all better than you think you can ☺️

Hi, yeah I didn't know there was a PCO without the S either. Doc originally thought I had PCOS because I have high AMH for my age, longer than normal cycles, and higher number of follicles visible on ultrasound than normal. However she does think I regularly ovulate, and they way she put it is PCOS without the syndrome 🤔.

Yes, having a blocked tube is the same as having just one, though they haven't confirmed that it's blocked, may need to have another scan.

@YellowZ
Fingers crossed we all get our BFP soon.
My fertile week shows next week going to try with the OPKs this time with my fingers crossed 🤞. I say to myself I am going to be chill about it and if it happens it happens if it doesn’t it doesn’t its like I am prepping my mind lol which will not happen. But feels good to be able to talk about it to ppl that are in the similar situation.

@YellowZ yes it was incredibly rough and almost still feels like it was a nightmare. But I am ok, and it feels like the right time to try.

@lucie1987 i am almost 37 and so I definitely feel your worry regarding age. Although my mum was 45 when she had me so there is some hope!

welcome to everyone else!! Really looking forward to our journey together xx

Could be the start of my fertile week next week too @Annonomous29 though I don't know that for sure. Fingers crossed! The last 2 times I came off the pill I ovulated 2 weeks later, so I'm hoping it's the same this time.

I'm hoping DP and I are both well for it - it feels like we're having constant colds atm, from DSs nursery 😬

Any news by the way @lucie1987 ? Are you 9dpo now? Still early days

@YellowZ I’ll be using OPKs but not temping. I don’t want to stress myself out with it too much. Fingers crossed it’ll be first cycle for you again! 🤞Totally know where you’re coming from with nursery bugs, I feel like I just pay them to bring viruses home 😵

Hello everyone - may I join the gang please? My history:

Pregnancy 1: conceived cycle 4 aged 35 and gave birth to gorgeous DS in Jan '21.

Pregnancy 2: conceived cycle 3 aged 37 but had a MMC in April this year at 11+4 (baby had stopped developing at 7+5)

Pregnancy 3: CP in Sept, lost at 4+5

Pregnancy 4: MC at 7 weeks on Halloween... Knew for a while it was looking bad as the HCG was awful and they suspected ectopic but in the end they didn't see conclusive evidence of that and my HCG started dropping and I started bleeding before any methotrexate was given.

Currently feeling a bit battered and bruised. It's been a draining year. Have given myself a month or two off TTC as I'm now awaiting an appointment with a fertility consultant at my local hospital. I don't seem to have a problem conceiving... It's just keeping them! So don't really want to risk getting pregnant again before I've spoken to someone. However, think I'm just ovulating now and it's weird feeling like I'm 'wasting' a cycle, especially as I'll be 38 at the end of next month. But needs must... My MH has to be the priority right now I think.

Really resonate with the comments from those of you who are a bit older, and also those who were hoping for a smaller age-gap with your existing DC. I'm having to make peace with some of my imagined family pictures ATM. Given the year I've had, I'll just take a healthy baby right now and everything else will fall into place I'm sure 💕

@MrsB2019x @Annonomous29 luckily DP claims no matter how sick he is, he'd always be able to DTD. Just hoping I don't have to put that claim to the test...

@SnookyPook welcome to the gang (not that it's necessarily a gang you'd want to have to be part of). Sorry for your losses. The low HCG does suggest the last one was an ectopic. If so, good that your body sorted it itself. Will be able to get an early scan next time?

Are you taking coq10? I've just started. It apparently takes 3 months to have an effect. But maybe it's something to do while you are waiting to TTC? I am also taking iron, zinc and folic acid and trying to eat well/exercise.

Definitely right to prioritise your MH. All too easy to obsess over what our bodies are doing, without making sure we're looking after our minds/mood as well.

If you are looking after yourself then it's not wasted time 🙂
