Hello,

Would anyone like to join a thread for TTC after ectopic/miscarriage, or when facing other challenges eg age, PCOS etc? DP and I have just decided to try again for no2, and I'm going to come off the pill. It would be nice to have some buddies to share experiences and support each other 🙂

About me:

Pregnancy 1: conceived first cycle age 35, healthy pregnancy, DS born summer 2021 (now age 2)

Pregnancy 2: conceived first cycle age 37, ectopic, surgery November 2022

My plan is to eat well, exercise, cut out alcohol, and generally look after myself.

Because I got pregnant quickly both times, I'm hoping our chances are still good...no idea how only having the one fallopian tube is going to affect things 😬

I think I'll do OPKs but not sure about temping yet.

Would love to hear from others!

@YellowZ I've definitely been comfort eating rubbish which hasn't helped. Losing 5-6kg will put me back in the middle of the ideal BMI zone too. I currently teeter into the overweight bracket depending on what time of the month it is so I know that getting back to where I was will make me feel so much better in myself. Once I'm back from holiday I'm going to go back to getting my steps in and eating 3 meals and a snack a day. The month I conceived id started doing yoga everyday, even just 10-30 mins so I'll start that too.

I've had to go to a walk in clinic for a UTI whilst on holiday and the hour I've spent after googling the medication to make sure it won't do any damage when TTC this next cycle shows I don't think I'll be able to be relaxed about it going forward 😅. My husband even dared to say "we could just skip a month"....eh no, we're already behind, there won't be any skipping!

@Vic231 i am so sorry for your losses. I cannot even begin to imagine the year that you have had.

@Bugdem123 hahah! That was brave of him. Sorry about the UTI though, very uncomfortable.

I conceived DS while on furlough and had spent the last few months hiking, gardening, and sleeping at least 8hrs a night. Whereas pregnancy 2 was conceived while I was long-term sleep deprived, breastfeeding, and fuelling myself with chocolate buttons... That has been enough to convince me that being in good health/well rested makes a big difference. My son still wakes up at 5am so I'm not entirely well-rested, but the rest is better.

I thought I would message to see if theres any updates??
😀

Hey @Annonomous29 thanks for checking in, how are you getting on?

AF turned up for me again at the weekend. It was the last cycle of trying before we said we'd start the process off with further investigations (and realistically probably IVF). I'm waiting for a call back for my day 2-4 bloods appointment. Annoyingly my period started on Saturday when the clinic is closed so I'm already on day 3 and stressing about it.

It's been 12 months since we started trying for #2 now, with two ectopics and one ruptured fallopian tube to show for it.

Feeling very intimidated about starting off the IVF process, not sure in emotionally ready for the hard work and likely unsuccessful attempts, based on statistics.

Urgh.

lemonyfox · 20/11/2023 09:35

MoonIightDreamer · 17/11/2023 13:31

I'm 38 next month
Pcos and male factor
Trying 18 years.
1 natural pregnancy that ended in mc last December
Currently 5 weeks via ivf

Do you mind me asking about IVF? From first appointment to transfer, how long was the process for you?

Thanks for checking in ! How are you ?
I think I'm having a 2nd ectopic. Waiting for blood test results 😔

Lostlawyer26 · 20/11/2023 09:45

Thank you for checking in! I am 2 or 3 DPO, the first time I’ve ever experienced a TWW as my first two pregnancies (both losses) I wasn’t tracking. How are you doing?

@lemonyfox I hope you get the call soon and can start getting the process underway.

lemonyfox · 20/11/2023 09:53

@lucie1987 oh I'm so sorry, what's happening? Have you got any ectopic symptoms?

YellowZ · 20/11/2023 10:34

@lucie1987 oh I'm so sorry to read this. Just at playgroup with DS so will catch up properly later but just wanted to say I hope you're ok. How many blood tests have you had so far? The waiting period is so stressful.

Loz1006 · 20/11/2023 10:41

Thanks for checking in, hope everyone is doing ok!?

After getting the faintest positive on Friday night, I too am going through a suspected 2nd ectopic, only 9 weeks from my first 🥺

I'm getting a scan tomorrow morning but not holding out much hope because I'm not even 5 weeks yet. Doctor hasn't ordered any blood tests yet which I think it weird.

SnookyPook · 20/11/2023 10:53

@lucie1987 so sorry to hear your update. Hope you get answers quickly and are well looked after. 💕

@Loz1006 sorry to hear your news too. May I ask a possibly ignorant question - what would make you suspect ectopic at this stage with no bloods etc? Would it not class as more of a CP? Apologies - not meaning to be insensitive at all, just unsure and given my last pregnancy was never really diagnosed one way or another but was suspected ectopic, I'm not really familiar with it.

I think I'm a few days post-ovulation but I didn't use opks this cycle and am just enjoying a month off the whole TTC stuff. I have an appointment with the MH midwife tomorrow... Curious what it will be like. Still awaiting my referral to fertility.

Loz1006 · 20/11/2023 11:05

Not ignorant at all, happy to answer any questions!

So I'm not bleeding or anything and I didn't with my previous ectopic. It's non-stop left side pelvic and lower back pain with left shoulder pain occasionally. Extremely faint pregnancy tests which aren't really progressing like you would expect.

The previous scan I had couldn't find any trace of a gestational sac anywhere and I believe it was left as pregnancy of unknown location. Every symptom I have at the moment is almost a carbon copy of 9 weeks ago. I was treated with expectant management so no surgery or drugs and my body took care it it I believe!

I do have in the back of my mind that this time around it could rupture but trying to think positive!

SnookyPook · 20/11/2023 11:50

@Loz1006 ah that makes sense. I'm sorry you're in pain and having to potentially go through this again especially so soon after the last one. I hope they're able to shed light on it all for you tomorrow and that whatever the outcome, it is resolved quickly but with no rupture etc. Keep us posted. X

YellowZ · 20/11/2023 12:46

@loz really sorry to hear your news too, it's a lot to bear for you. I was really scared about a possible rupture too. My guess would be if they can't see bleeding/a mass, then nothing is going to rupture soon? And if they can see that, they are going to sort it for you.

I also think it's really odd your Dr isn't doing any bloods! Worth questioning? Or maybe ask at the scan?

@SnookyPook must be disconcerting having an unexplained loss like that?

I had quite a lot of classic ectopic symptoms. Still, my GP and the A&E Dr were both inclined to "call" it as an early miscarriage, based on the balance of probabilities I guess. Luckily, the gynaecology consultant recommended a scan to the A&E Dr.

For my ectopic I had a vvv faint positive test, and then I got my period. About a week or so later, I had some symptoms similar to when I was pregnant with DS, tested again, and got a darker bfp.

The key things for me:
My period started with spotting (unusual for me) and was quite short
The test lines didn't darken much
My blood test results showed a low level of HCG which didn't double in 48hrs, only went up slightly. Then they went down, then they went up again!
About a week after my "period" I started bleeding again, dark blood
Pain and a burning sensation on my left side, pain in the back, stabbing pain bum/anus
Very thirsty (apparently this might have been caused by the internal bleeding I had)
Just an... instinct that something was badly wrong, despite the pain not being horrific

But I guess if you had an ectopic/pregnancy of unknown location that was small and your body handled by itself, your symptoms might be quite different?

Hope your appointment with the midwife is good, maybe they will be able to shed some light on what happened for you?

@Annonomous29 thanks for checking in 🙂did you get some ovulation tests?

2dpo here... Hoping the next few days go quickly.

@lemonyfox from first consultation until transfer was 9 months at my clinic. I had my round at an nhs clinic tho

Joonbug23 · 20/11/2023 13:10

Hi everyone,
wondering if I can join this thread.

Ive unfortunately suffered 2 losses in the last year.
Dec 22 - missed miscarriage at 13 weeks and d&c op treatment.

May 23 - ectopic pregnancy, 2 x methotrexate injections followed by surgery to remove right tube.

I’m now on cycle 4 TTC and just entered my fertile window (CD13).

I’m 26 and really feeling worried and anxious that I’ll never get the chance to be a mum.

thank you all for being to open about your stories above. Without people such as yourselves sharing your stories, and without threads like this I (and many others) would be struggling so much.

lucie1987 · 20/11/2023 13:34

Sorry for you too @Loz1006 , it's not fun!

My home test was negative but I'm 5 days "late" but I have similar brown discharge like I had last time. I also had a pregnancy test for the last one which led to me thinking everything was fine until my tube ruptured a few weeks later. So this time, I went for bloods as soon as I saw these signs. Still not sure if it is an ectopic, could just be delayed period with loss of old blood but best to be safe !

If it's helpful to any one, my symptoms for the first one were brown discharge for a few weeks , dizziness and nausea followed by intense pelvic pain and vomiting followed by unbearable pain in my abdomen and as the haemorrhage progressed, pain in my shoulder which was so painful even with shallow breath.

Thanks to everyone who shares their stories, it's really comforting to know that I'm not alone and I hope that sharing our experiences can help each other.

Good luck to everyone on here :-)

Ttcafterlosses · 20/11/2023 13:41

Hi all sorry to read what you’ve all been through. I recognise some names from other threads. After my fourth loss and further tests at the recurrent miscarriage clinic I am trialling sitagliptin for 3 months but I cannot TTC during this treatment so hopefully will join you all soon and hope you have some BFPs by then x

Annonomous29 · 20/11/2023 16:52
