TTC after early miscarriage

Morning!
So I sadly suffered an early miscarriage at 5w just over a fortnight ago.

We have 3 children already (6,4 and 19m) and I'm 40, hubby 47.

Lovely staff at EPU said crack on again as soon as I'm ready- and not to worry about having a period first.

I've always had pretty irregular cycles anyway and have never tracked ovulation (we have been very lucky and fallen pregnant super easily- and this was my first MC).

I think I have just ovulated (Sunday) which was 14 days since spotting (main bleed from miscarriage was Tues 11, Weds 12 Oct).

My symptoms were bloating on Fri and Saturday, and real drop in mood over the weekend (I've noticed this has happened a few times a couple of weeks before period since cycles started after DD was born), by yesterday my mood was much more stable again. On Sunday I had mild nausea and very mild cramping (more like little twinges).
We DTD Sunday night.

So have fingers crossed that something might have happened!

I noticed yesterday evening and today I'm peeing more than usual but apparently that can be a sign of ovulation too.

I'm going to be a crazy lady symptom
spotting for a fortnight now! Have a cervical screening booked for a week today (wondering if I should cancel it?!)

What's the earliest anyone has had symptoms after DTD that turned out to be early pregnancy? And how many DPO have you got a positive?

@RaisingCornishWildlings I did have the slightest spotting on 5dpo which I have never had before. Although early I did get hopeful that it might be implantation. It seems since My mc period cramping starts way earlier then usual. Yeah I just feel so so out though but I should be more hopeful like you say. Why have 5 miserable days on lead up to af when it could be just one when it actually comes. I do this every month (only been 3 since mc but feels like 20 haha)

Yeah that's good I'm sure that's more than fine. I wish i had started something ages ago as I think would help my mentle clarity a bit.

I think it's time this crazy lady pulled herself together. I am deffonatlystarting running if af comes. Until then (like you say) I'm gna avod the biscuit tin and stop eating so much junk and do lots of movement, even just walking xx

miamiamia869 · 07/02/2024 08:07

I have also used my last tests. I took ovulation test yesterday and was super light I must say the one I took today was stronger. (I know they detect hcg) but the one pregnancy test I had I used today with the negative

I have to go food shopping today. Do I buy more tests or leave it to the gods. I'm not as mentally resistant as I used to be lol

RaisingCornishWildlings · 07/02/2024 08:10

Yeah that's a good point about the cramping- I've felt grumbling dull aches for the best part of a week before AF in previous cycles since my MC, so it feels a bit more "normal" at the moment. 9DPO, I think AF due around Saturday and so far nothing to report really, save for some sugar cravings, fatigue/brain fog (but that could easily be attributed to my children waking up at all hours of the night!) I think I have some oh-so faint nausea but nothing of any significance at all.
The only thing different this month seems to seems to have been that I keep having incredibly vivid dreams (I rarely remember mine but almost nightly I've woken up remembering them! Google tells me it can be due to progesterone so normal for luteal phase (plus stress and anxiety-lots going on like sick kids, mum in hospital, husband about to deploy and other stuff too!)

Hi again ladies - some advice please!

We DTD Sunday night.
I got my peak some time over Monday night.
But DH was too tired and grumpy to do it yesterday 😡
Is it worth DTD tonight (Wednesday) or will it be too late?

RaisingCornishWildlings · 07/02/2024 08:19

I say go for it. The peak comes before the actual ovulation and then the egg is viable for 24 hours after ovulation so you prob OV yesterday

I'll give it a go
(And stop being in a mood with him 😝)

ThelastRolo20 · 07/02/2024 08:32

@miamiamia869 @RaisingCornishWildlings I really hope it's just because you're both testing earlier. Hopefully the next day or so brings a positive test!

I'm picking my running back up too (once this awful virus has shifted) so if anyone would like to share that journey that'd be great 😊

Thankfully my bleeding has now fully stopped and I'm two weeks post surgery. Going to do a test this weekend just to make sure it's looking faint enough, if it is I'm hopeful my cycles will go straight back to normal which is thankfully what happened last time

miamiamia869 · 07/02/2024 08:44

@123456789ss you may aswell.

@ThelastRolo20 yes I would love to share a little running journey. Might help holding eachother accountable cause I am so much more like to get a bar or choc and binge watch something. Ahhh pleased you are getting to the end of it and able to start balancing hormones and work on your plan.

@RaisingCornishWildlings ahh sorry to hear ur mum is in hospital hope she is okay.
I have had such much cramping, since my mc this seems to be norm. Strange as never happend b4 only the month I became pregnant so its another head mess. I did have a massive bout of nausea yesterday. I thought I was actually going to be sick but see a colleague with severe autism in the corridor who starting chatting. I could feel my mouth watering and tingling like I was gonna puke but couldn't just run away from him. It passed luckily as he was chatting away. Nothing out of the ordinary though as I often get sicky with pmt. I have been extremely moody down snappy with feels very pmt so just makes me think it's that x

Claudiasaz · 07/02/2024 09:44

Hey ladies..sorry about the negatives. It's so crap.

I'm so glad you guys said this about the cramping. You always make me feel so normal 😂 I have had vivid dreams every month as well and even felt sick this month! I even got a cold sore this time, which I've only ever had when preg and you guessed it.... not pregnant lol. I have started writing everything down to not get myself excited in the tww but even though I do this, I still convince myself it's different this month 🫠🤦🏼‍♀️ I guess at least I still have hope which you need right....

@RaisingCornishWildlings hope your mum is okay? X

@miamiamia869 It is going to happen for you. It seems a few of us are going through similar which tells me it's pretty normal after a MC tbh. Hope you take some comfort in that x

@ThelastRolo20 Amazing on the bleeding front. I am not running but working out 3 times pw since Jan and I hate to say I feel better for it haha

Claudiasaz · 07/02/2024 09:54

@miamiamia869 Also what's your thoughts on ditching opk? I never used them before all of this and still fell. I don't enjoy it I find it annoying because I always need to pee and I drink lots of water 😂

I definitely feel ovulation and get lots of egg whites. Would this stop us obsessing so much?! I don't know? 😭😂

miamiamia869 · 07/02/2024 10:23

@Claudiasaz I have thought this because I hate how it consumes practically the whole month. Knowing dates to the exact makes me Google and symptom spot to extreme. I think it would relieve pressure. However we tried for 2 years without any tests just by what app said was fertile window. Then thee second months using opks I fell pregnant so was convinced my timings had been out and now fully rely on Opks. I don't feel ovulation but I do get ewcm a few days before.
How ennoying after all ur symptoms to get a negative how many dpo are you?.

I kind of feel like what @ThelastRolo20 is doing and having a somewhat break till my holiday and just going with the flow, but I know come mid cycle i will be going thirsty peeing On sticks and telling hubby it's time to get busy as I'm such an obsessive person.

ThelastRolo20 · 07/02/2024 11:55

@miamiamia869 when's your holiday? Maybe ditch OPKs until then so it doesn't feel so obsessive but you're not stopping entirely?

@Claudiasaz I'm not going to use OPKs when we start in April, I only started as COVID threw my cycles out but my first and healthy pregnancy I never used them and conceived within 3 months. I also want to reduce the pressure and stress of "when is my peak". Don't need it, I have regular enough cycles I think. Maybe after 3 months I'll go back to using them if no success!

ThelastRolo20 · 07/02/2024 11:55

@Claudiasaz I'm glad the working out is making you feel better, it's nice to continue doing positive things 😊

miamiamia869 · 07/02/2024 12:01

@ThelastRolo20 it's in june. That's what I'm thinking of doing but I don't hold much hope I actuslly will lol x

bluebunny2 · 07/02/2024 12:10

Hi ladies, sorry to hear some of you have are having a rubbish time at the moment. @miamiamia869 and @Claudiasaz I don’t use opks and find it much less stressful, but i do have a short cycle and get clear o pains. So we just dtd every couple of days from about day 7-14 and I know we’ve covered it. Saying that though this month I seem to have had tons of cm in the last couple of days and I’m cd18 so maybe I’m having a really late ovulation.
Im also feeling pretty grotty today, seems far too early to be pregnancy related if I did o when expected so likely something my daughter has brought home from nursery.

ThelastRolo20 · 07/02/2024 14:24

@bluebunny2 I've definitely got my current illness from my daughter's nursery!

@RaisingCornishWildlings - I think it's almost time for a new thread 😊 would you like to do the honours? X

Claudiasaz · 07/02/2024 16:45

@miamiamia869 I got my period on time 🙄😭

I'm not sure what to do. I have a follow up on my blood results next week so will see what is said there I guess x

ThelastRolo20 · 07/02/2024 16:47

So I'm just over two weeks post surgery and it's still quite a strong positive. What do we think the likelihood is of it being nearly gone in a week? I have stopped bleeding so thought that was a good sign. Just hoping there's no retained product...

TTC after early miscarriage
ThelastRolo20 · 07/02/2024 16:48

To add, it was a dye stealer a day after the op so I must have started at a ridiculously high level 🙃

Claudiasaz · 07/02/2024 17:15

@ThelastRolo20 Mine was still positive a month later and then I stopped testing but there was nothing retained , purely hormones x

ThelastRolo20 · 07/02/2024 17:42

@Claudiasaz that's good to know, I think retained product is unlikely as bleeding has stopped, I have no pain and they said there hadn't been much to remove in the first place.

At least I'm not in an immediate rush!

Claudiasaz · 07/02/2024 17:55

@ThelastRolo20 Yeah I feel like you'd know if there was anything. See how it progresses over the next week xx

mumsince2021 · 07/02/2024 19:12

@ThelastRolo20 It was showing a faint positive for the week after I bled for me. That was the 6 weeks along miscarriage. It was still quite a strong line although not dye stealer when the bleeding started. I really hated seeing positive tests when I knew it wasn't viable. I knew something was up because the tests stayed at the same level strong for a while but never quite dye stealer and then the spotting started

miamiamia869 · 07/02/2024 19:26

@ThelastRolo20 mine took about 3 weeks to clear hcg.

mumsince2021 · 07/02/2024 19:56

I think we'll need a new thread as we've reached 1000 posts? Unless that's changed 😅
