TTC after early miscarriage

RaisingCornishWildlings · 24/10/2023 09:59

Morning!
So I sadly suffered an early miscarriage at 5w just over a fortnight ago.

We have 3 children already (6,4 and 19m) and I'm 40, hubby 47.

Lovely staff at EPU said crack on again as soon as I'm ready- and not to worry about having a period first.

I've always had pretty irregular cycles anyway and have never tracked ovulation (we have been very lucky and fallen pregnant super easily- and this was my first MC).

I think I have just ovulated (Sunday) which was 14 days since spotting (main bleed from miscarriage was Tues 11, Weds 12 Oct).

My symptoms were bloating on Fri and Saturday, and real drop in mood over the weekend (I've noticed this has happened a few times a couple of weeks before period since cycles started after DD was born), by yesterday my mood was much more stable again. On Sunday I had mild nausea and very mild cramping (more like little twinges).
We DTD Sunday night.

So have fingers crossed that something might have happened!

I noticed yesterday evening and today I'm peeing more than usual but apparently that can be a sign of ovulation too.

I'm going to be a crazy lady symptom
spotting for a fortnight now! Have a cervical screening booked for a week today (wondering if I should cancel it?!)

What's the earliest anyone has had symptoms after DTD that turned out to be early pregnancy? And how many DPO have you got a positive?

ahh thank you @Claudiasaz @ThelastRolo20 mid cycle spotting I don't really have. sometimes a bit of brown/old blood in cm but not oft phase is longer than 9 days usually, from the cycles I have tracked anyway.

Claudiasaz · 29/01/2024 11:56

I think a bit of brown is fine as it's old cycle blood isn't it. Could just be out bodies need a bit longer to recover, who knows @miamiamia869

miamiamia869 · 29/01/2024 12:21

Yeah I do think that in regards to cycle and testing this seems to be my first monthe since mmc I think hormones have regulated. All stuff I never even knew about till this journey. We probably just need time to adjust like you say! Xx

ThelastRolo20 · 29/01/2024 12:38

@miamiamia869 @Claudiasaz how many cycles has it taken you to settle?

I'm hoping I'll be good to start again in April..like you @Claudiasaz I've always been able to conceive easily so hoping that continues!

miamiamia869 · 29/01/2024 12:47

Since MMC in November I have had 2 periods but tracked ovulation between MMC and first period too.

It seems my LH was sort of up and down and never got peaks or very high levels at all. Now almost 3 months since MMC according to periods and LH tracking i seem (so far) to be back to how things were before the MMC. I don't know for sure as that is the only thing I do to track. I would think by April you will be and with project EGG hopefully everything is good and you get your rainbow. xx

Claudiasaz · 29/01/2024 12:50

@ThelastRolo20 I don't really know if I'm normal or not still 😭😂I've had 5 periods since mc. Decided to try in Oct, but I had short cycles. Last two have been a normal length pre mc. I'm also 35 so don't know if that means it takes a bit longer to recover! Either way after soul searching last month with another disappointment, we decided we definitely do want another child so I'll just have to suck it up and keep going!

ThelastRolo20 · 29/01/2024 12:53

Thanks both @miamiamia869 @Claudiasaz I'm also turning 35 this year and not ready to give up!

My bleeding seems to be pretty much stopped 6 days after surgery so taking that as a good sign. After my last MC my period arrived exactly 4 weeks later but I think with surgery it can take a bit longer! At least I've got some breathing space for it to sort itself out 😂

I'll feel better when my next period arrives as it'll finally give me some indication of what's going on

miamiamia869 · 29/01/2024 13:01

I am 34 this year so not far behind yous, but plenty of people have babies easy late 30's so I'm not drawing age into it just yet.

@ThelastRolo20 the time between mc and first period is awful. Soul destroying because you just want to get your body back to normal and draw a line under the miscarriage medical wise (not as easy as that emotionally i know) x

ThelastRolo20 · 29/01/2024 13:06

@miamiamia869 exactly, it still feels like a miscarriage until period arrives. Then there's the emotions that come when it does arrive as you definitely aren't pregnant!

I keep trying to tell myself that April isn't too far away. At the moment January feels never ending. If I can make it though Feb then I won't have too long to wait 🙃

miamiamia869 · 29/01/2024 13:10

@ThelastRolo20 hopefully the closer your holiday gets the more excited you become for it. Can plan your day trips, shopping for holiday clothes ect might make the wait go quicker.

I really feel you with the longest January ever. This year has been LONG already. 2 more days and we are in FEB x

ThelastRolo20 · 29/01/2024 13:22

@miamiamia869 I am trying to keep myself busy. Obviously I'm doing a weekly run now (joined park run too). I'm off to the theatre next week, have a couple of dinners out planned, off to Edinburgh to see family early March.

I think once I'm in March the wait is only one cycle away which feels far more manageable. I told myself today that I could start in Feb, and not get pregnant until May/ June in any case! Never a guarantee it would happen first month so I may as well enjoy the time off. I'm just not very patient.....

Claudiasaz · 29/01/2024 13:23

@ThelastRolo20 I totally get it but you're doing amazing. Seriously.

And a holiday after everything is a fantastic plan. I'm actually going to get one booked too! These babies will be here when they're ready. Imagine how spoiled they will be 😂❤️

ThelastRolo20 · 29/01/2024 13:30

@Claudiasaz ah thank you! I honestly think once Feb is here it will mentally feel very different, I have a black tie event on 20th to go to in London for work as well so that'll be nice.

where are you thinking of going? We're off to the canaries as the in laws are paying! We're also off to Greece in October for a wedding (luckily our toddler is invited to sorts childcare issues). I'm very much hoping I'm pregnant by then, weird how you get to the point that you wish you can't drink when off to a destination wedding but there we are!

It doesn't help too that one friend is over 20 weeks pregnant, and I know two other friends are actively TTC, I even dreamt last night that one told me she was pregnant. Bring on April!

miamiamia869 · 29/01/2024 13:45

@Claudiasaz ha i never thought of it like that. We will sure have very spoilt babies when they come lol.

@ThelastRolo20 oh I feel you one of my closest friend told me last week she is pregnant, and the other has just had a baby, so all our chats are heavily baby based at the moment. Nobody except my husband and I know of our miscarriage so I just play the childless carefree one to avoid the uncomfortable awkwardness.

ThelastRolo20 · 29/01/2024 13:48

@miamiamia869 oh that's so tough given that they don't know but I understand why you've done it. One of things I struggle with is the sympathy/ look people give you when they know. I'd almost find it easier if my pregnant friend never knew about the MCs and she just thought I hadn't started trying again. But as we fell pregnant around the same time she knew, and my husband let slip about the second one to her husband!

Next time, no one is going to know until after 12 weeks.

miamiamia869 · 29/01/2024 16:18

Yeah exactly that. I had kept it quiet until the 12 week mark so nobody knew and seemed strange to tell everyone I lost it when they didn't even know I was pregnant.

I will probably keep it quiet until after the 12 week scan again. I know you are never out the woods with pregnancy but that does seem to be the mark.

Holly0609 · 30/01/2024 08:04

Hi everyone!
Me again
Ive been so quiet - been reading but been feeling “blah” so haven’t posted.

Hope you’re all okay

I wasn’t going to early test this month because of my chemical last month, but I caved at 12DPO this morning and it’s definitely positive 🥺❤️

I’m so scared. Praying it’s third time lucky for me. I’m 35 this year and still trying for my first. Absolutely praying this one is the one 🤍.
I don’t have any more tests in the house, I’m torn between buying more to see line progression or just not buying any more until a few more days pass. Ahhh!

Holly0609 · 30/01/2024 08:04

@ThelastRolo20 I’m so glad you’re doing okay after your surgery, and that you haven’t let it knock you down ☹️. I love how positive you’re being! I’ve been such a negative Nancy lately I haven’t liked myself much at all!
sounds like you’ve got a lot of good things planned coming up - and April isn’t that far away at all to start trying again 💗

ThelastRolo20 · 30/01/2024 08:13

@Holly0609 congratulations! Lovely news ❤️ try and hold off if you can, I think testing loads just adds stress. Really hope this is the one for you

I know April isn't far away but it definitely feels like it - January doesn't seem to be ending!

miamiamia869 · 30/01/2024 10:45

@Holly0609 congratulations thats great news. Yeah try and hold of testing till after you are due period. I agree that it just stresses you out.

I'm 34 this year and still trying for my first so can relate.

Pray this is your time. Xxx

Claudiasaz · 30/01/2024 10:52

@Holly0609 Congratulations xx

I agree, no more tests 😂 How about a compromise and test at the weekend? 😜

Claudiasaz · 30/01/2024 10:56

Also 12dpo should be a good indicator right? I don't think that's too early at all! Some people luteal phase is that xx

@Holly0609

Ncl31 · 30/01/2024 13:52

@Holly0609 oh how lovely, congratulations! Let’s hope this is a sticky bean for you

mumsince2021 · 30/01/2024 15:35

Great news @Holly0609 you must be pretty fertile too catching again so soon! Hopefully third time lucky indeed that was the case for me with my son 🤞🤞 I would advise not too much testing but I know if it was me I would be doing it 🤦‍♀️

Claudiasaz · 30/01/2024 20:13

Sorry to put a dampner BUT.... lol....I need to get it off my chest. Having strong period cramps just a week after O. I am so fed up with it now. I actually O'd earlier in keeping with my cycles pre MC, so thought great, maybe we're getting somewhere in regulating.

Trying to move on but every month I'm reminded it has truly messed up my body as well as the mental damage 🥺
