TTC after early miscarriage

1000 replies

RaisingCornishWildlings · 24/10/2023 09:59

Morning!
So I sadly suffered an early miscarriage at 5w just over a fortnight ago.

We have 3 children already (6,4 and 19m) and I'm 40, hubby 47.

Lovely staff at EPU said crack on again as soon as I'm ready- and not to worry about having a period first.

I've always had pretty irregular cycles anyway and have never tracked ovulation (we have been very lucky and fallen pregnant super easily- and this was my first MC).

I think I have just ovulated (Sunday) which was 14 days since spotting (main bleed from miscarriage was Tues 11, Weds 12 Oct).

My symptoms were bloating on Fri and Saturday, and real drop in mood over the weekend (I've noticed this has happened a few times a couple of weeks before period since cycles started after DD was born), by yesterday my mood was much more stable again. On Sunday I had mild nausea and very mild cramping (more like little twinges).
We DTD Sunday night.

So have fingers crossed that something might have happened!

I noticed yesterday evening and today I'm peeing more than usual but apparently that can be a sign of ovulation too.

I'm going to be a crazy lady symptom
spotting for a fortnight now! Have a cervical screening booked for a week today (wondering if I should cancel it?!)

What's the earliest anyone has had symptoms after DTD that turned out to be early pregnancy? And how many DPO have you got a positive?

@mumsince2021 Hooray! You never know! I get that. I always was pretty chilled about pregnancy and now I'm paranoid with any little thing. We got pregnant with our third with pull out method and avoiding ovulation (both obviously not done well).... And I wonder if that was what caused a MC later down the line as was pre stuff. I don't know!

I had light spotting with my 2nd but not like this, this is definitely a period. At least I'll be trying again next week if a short cycle again 😂 every cloud 😂

Vic231 · 07/11/2023 15:16

Good afternoon all! Bit of a weird one but can sensitive teeth be a pregnancy symptom? My front 4 teeth are really sensitive today! 🤔 😂

RaisingCornishWildlings · 07/11/2023 22:16

Oooh I've never heard of that being a symptom, but maybe?! Have you googled it? (Dangerous I know!)

Hope everyone's had a good day!

Time feels like it's dragging so slowly for the TWW yet hurtling and double speed with regards to hubby deploying!

Vic231 · 08/11/2023 08:14

@RaisingCornishWildlings yes Dr Google has not always been my friend 😂 but I googled it, interesting! The sensitivity stopped overnight so I had it for yesterday afternoon and evening.

If you suddenly experience sore teeth and gums it may indicate hormonal changes common in pregnancy. The only way to find out if pregnancy is the cause of your sore teeth is to take a pregnancy test. If it is positive it is a possible reason however a visit to a dentist will confirm if it is the cause

That must be so tough with your DH going away ♥️

Vic231 · 08/11/2023 08:14

I did not make that obvious - the bit from Dr Google is the paragraph in the middle - not me 😂

RaisingCornishWildlings · 08/11/2023 08:23

How random! I do know that pregnancy does affect your teeth as they can become weaker (the enamel)- I guess it's taking calcium from our bodies for the baby? So it makes sense.
Got fingers crossed for you.

This morning I'm 6DPO, I POAS even though I knew it was utterly pointless- surprise surprise a BFN!!

But I think I did feel mildly nauseous (or was it in my head?), felt a bit constipated last two mornings, and today a bit of groin/hip ache which I had on and off with my lost recent pregnancy (though not this early on!)
Gonna try and hold off testing again until Sat or Sunday. And even then it'll be negative I'm sure!

Yes, not easy with hubby heading off. Since we've been together we have been really lucky and he's not had a lot of time away so the kids aren't used to it, but we are part of a large military community here and there's a lot of military kids in the school etc so plenty of support around us

OP posts:
Claudiasaz · 08/11/2023 11:22

@Vic231 I get sore gums early pregnancy. Definitely a thing!

Claudiasaz · 08/11/2023 14:08

Hey ladies how are you all? Any more updates?

Just wanted to say thanks for the support Monday. Feeling much better today and can't believe it'll be time to go again at the weekend basically going off these new short cycles 😂 I've ordered some more ov tests more as a confirmation that my body is working normally after the MC. Gone with clear blue as although expensive seem to have the best reviews for accuracy and less stress! So we'll see I guess!

RaisingCornishWildlings · 08/11/2023 17:39

@Claudiasaz hey lovely, great to hear you're feeling more positive and happier today. It must be a relief that you have such short cycles- as you say at least you can crack on again next week! Fingers crossed you get lucky next cycle!

I haven't really had any symptoms today apart from vaguely sensitive nipples, I'm only 6DPO but I'm losing faith! It's been confirmed that hubby deploys on Monday, so this weekend we will take the kids to get the Christmas tree and trim up super early this year. I'll be 11DPO by Monday so clinging onto hope that if I am pregnant, I will have a positive test in time!

Hello ladies - I’ve been reading your posts and thought I would join in. I miscarried in August & finally had my first visit from AF just over 2 weeks ago. I found it very confusing eagerly awaiting AF’s return - I just wanted my body to be “normal” again. I cried with relief when she arrived. I think I’m now 2DPO so this is my first official cycle since it happened and I’m now in the TWW window. DH has been working away quite a lot over the last few weeks so we only managed to DTD three times and because I haven’t really been able to properly track I’m not certain that all three of those times (if any!!) were in the OV window. So this was more of a practice cycle for me if that makes sense. I’m hoping that AF arrives on time next cycle so I can properly track and ban DH from working away during the OV window! Haha!

I’m 35 and I have a 17 month old little boy. Lovely to meet you all! :)

RaisingCornishWildlings · 08/11/2023 18:05

Hi @Roxystar23 welcome aboard!

Got fingers crossed for you! I've never really tracked cycles before and I'm trying for baby no 4- but did OPKs for the first time ever and got a nice strong peak and lots of DTD so I can only hope! It's so tricky to know and the more you read on blooming Google, the worst it can get, but you'll be in good company here ❤️❤️

mumsince2021 · 08/11/2023 19:22

Welcome @Roxystar23 I'm also 35 and have a 22 month old son. Hopefully you'll have some luck soon. Did it take you long to conceive your son? I love how you think 3 times isn't enough attempts for a cycle 😅 with my last BFP which ended in miscarriage we only DTD once! So once can be enough if your timing is right and you're lucky.

I have only still DTD once this cycle with 4 week old sperm so it is unlikely to be successful based on that. We might go again tonight but I think my fertile window (if I'm having one this cycle!) has passed as the fertile CM has eased off and I typically ovulate CD 10 which is either today or was days ago as I spotted for a week before miscarrying and bleeding more heavily like a period 🤷‍♀️ so hard to know which cycle day this would really be. When I think about it I'm only usually ready to DTD typically from CD 7 as I bleed for 5 days and day 6 sometimes still has spotting so I only have about 3 days until my typical ovulation day at CD 10 🤦‍♀️ not ideal for TTC

Claudiasaz · 08/11/2023 20:51

Hey @Roxystar23 I'm 35 too and have two girls who are 3.5 and 1.5. I'm so sorry about your MC hope you're doing okay. I know what you mean about being glad when period comes back, I felt the same way! Although didn't feel like that when it came again after TTC for the first month since missed MC. But onwards and upwards 😂

Holly0609 · 09/11/2023 08:44

Hi everyone!
Can I join? 😊
I’ve just turned 34, trying for my first baby.
Had a missed miscarriage 4 weeks ago 😔 but we are planning to try again before my first period arrives 🤞🏼.
Currently on cycle day 10 (since my surgical management) so no idea if I’ll ovulate at a normal time!

Hoping we all get our rainbows soon 🌈

Roxystar23 · 09/11/2023 10:35

Thank you for such a lovely welcome everyone. 😀

@Holly0609 - Welcome! So sorry that you're now a member of this club. Hoping that your story will have a more positive ending soon.

@RaisingCornishWildlings - Thanks! Sorry that you have had to join this thread too. I have multiple apps on the go to help me track where I am. Although - a few of them don't seem to have worked out what has gone on since I input the pregnancy and then MC. You would think these companies would have worked out a way for the app to interpret this type of event when it is such a frequent occurrence in the world. Then again, I'm still getting weekly email updates from one company about "my baby" that I cannot seem to unsubscribe from and that is more upsetting. I haven't tried OPK's but I might give it a go this time around. If this cycle isn't the one, at the very least it sounds like you have managed to have a lot of fun - got to take the positives where you can. But sending positive thoughts your way! :)

@mumsince2021 - Thank you. Sorry that you're in this situation too. It took us 5 years to conceive my 17 month old but I think that was down to some really funky and irregular cycles after coming off the pill. After stopping breastfeeding it took us about 4 cycles to conceive before my MC and was a bit of a shock for us that it had happened so quickly in comparison.
That seems like such a short window for DTD - but as you have said (and experienced) it only takes one time of DTD for it to happen. So you never know!! Good luck!!

@Claudiasaz - Thanks! So sorry that you're part of this gang too. What a perfect little age gap! I think I will struggle when my next period makes an appearance (trying to not get too hopeful for cycle number 1!) and will just try to see it as having another opportunity ahead of me and a chance to have a lot of fun trying! Haha! In my head I would like to have found out I was pregnant again before the new year and I guess technically there are still 2 chances (this current window and the next). If not, I think I will be feeling the January blues. Although the real emotional deadline is what would have been the due date so If I can get a positive test before then, I think I will be in a better place mentally.

Sorry everyone, that was quite a long post! Hope you're all doing well today and I'm sending positive thoughts and vibes to anyone currently in the TWW. :)

Vic231 · 09/11/2023 11:41

Hi @Roxystar23 and @Holly0609 welcome and sorry you are here ♥️

Nothing new to report from me, still just plodding on through the TWW, roughly 8DPO today x

RaisingCornishWildlings · 09/11/2023 11:43

@Holly0609 welcome my lovely, sorry for your loss.

@Vic231 one day behind you ... I think my cervix feels higher.... is that a good sign?!

OP posts:
Vic231 · 09/11/2023 11:57

@RaisingCornishWildlings I've never really understood the cervix thing 🤣 but I think that's a good sign from what i've read?! I also get really scared around that area as with my last loss I had my first ever UTI and so was on antibiotics and I'm worried that's what caused the loss. Sorry, that's not meant to worry you btw, just me thinking of probably another irrational thing 🤦🏻‍♀️

mumsince2021 · 09/11/2023 12:14

Welcome @Holly0609 sorry to hear about another loss but more company here always welcome!

@Vic231 I'm similar and avoid going near the cervix where possible as I'm terrified of messing with anything 😅 so I wouldn't know what position it's in etc or what could be seen as a good sign. Fingers crossed for you though @RaisingCornishWildlings

We DTD for the second time last night and I think that's it for us this cycle as ovulation will have passed if I have ovulated so I'll say I'm in the TWW now. I have a night out planned for the end of the month so I'm thinking of that to help me get through the likelihood of a negative this month! And then Christmas. Anything to make it easier 🤦‍♀️

RaisingCornishWildlings · 09/11/2023 12:20

Yup I'm a beginner to the cervix thing too, I'd never been able to feel mine before (tried when pregnant), but after ovulation earlier this week I think I located it, but today it seemed harder to reach it.

Because I've never had to try at conceiving before and always fallen so easily, I've not worried about tracking stuff- just been lucky! But with OH going away and expecting him to be away a fair bit start of next year, I really feel like I need to know when the window of opportunity is!! 😂

bluebunny2 · 09/11/2023 12:41

Hi everyone, I’d love to jump on this thread too. I’m 40 and have a daughter who is 2.5. We’ve been trying for no.2 since July and I’ve had an early miscarriage in September and a chemical last month. We conceived really easily first time and I’m sure it’s my age going against us now. I’m just really hoping we haven’t left it too late as we’d both love another.

Claudiasaz · 09/11/2023 12:53

@Holly0609 @bluebunny2 aw sorry to both of you for your loss.

@RaisingCornishWildlings I've never checked my cervix either anything like that grosses me out. 😂

@mumsince2021 I think I might have had sex too much this cycle. Literally every day 😂 So don't think it's a bad thing doing just a couple!

I'm determined to relax this time. Unfortunately MC makes you question things but fact is we have all been pregnant so have to trust we will get there again🙏

mumsince2021 · 09/11/2023 13:17

That's good going @Claudiasaz we don't do it anywhere near as much these days with a toddler 😂 we were like that when trying for our first!

Claudiasaz · 09/11/2023 13:38

@mumsince2021 well it didn't work so wouldn't recommend 😂

Blueskies4 · 10/11/2023 06:44

@Holly0609 @Roxystar23 @bluebunny2 welcome ladies, I’m sorry you have to be here, but you’re in good company x

My period arrived with a vengeance (the bitch) and I’ve been super emotional so going to try and chill a bit more (LOL) next month, and wait to see what the gynaecologist says about my odd cycles before I stress too much about not getting pregnant..

I did phone Tommys earlier in the week when I was feeling a bit sad with everything, she reminded me that whilst I’ve always got pregnant 1st/2nd cycle previously that’s v lucky and it’s completely normal to take up to a year xx
