2023 TTC 35+

VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 01:42

Hi everyone!!
Wanted to start another group thread for those TTC that are 35+.
When I was first trying, this group helped me a lot. We bonded and went through pains and celebrations together. I had two MCs over 2yrs of trying and lots of crying as I was typing many of my posts. Support helped... Especially at this age.
I had my first baby Jan 2022 and here we are now trying for baby #2.
I'll be 40 this summer!!!
Join me and share your story ☺️

Started bleeding now and heavy period pain 😔 glad things are moving on but obviously very sad.
Do I call this CD1? I’m assuming so

I think so. Sending you love x

@FiddleLeaf sorry about the bfn, so much uncertainty and body trickery going on for ladies on here at the moment. Sending love to everyone experiencing it all at present x

Thank you. I’m very low today & we cancelled our plans to have a quiet day home. I’m so glad we did. My DP is so supportive, god bless him. We decided to have a pity party until the afternoon & then opened a nice bottle of wine and did some gardening.

I’ve just ordered conceive max for this final cycle before IVF. Still no sign of AF but I look 6 months pregnant with very uncomfortable bloating at the mo. Jeans are off the table today!

13Bastards · 16/04/2023 17:10

I'm out this month. AF arrived this morning.

Now means I will be 40 when (if) I conceive

Hi all has anyone every experienced a cold right after ovulation, very strange it’s come on from no where

I often feel cold like symptoms around a week or so before my period but they usually don't amount to anything and go away in couple days. But can't say I had it around ovulation.

@FiddleLeaf crossing my fingers for your last cycle, love. Give it your best effort and DTD lots 😆

@13Bastards aw, sorry to hear you are out this cycle. Nothing wrong with being 40 and conceiving 🥰 will you be having a sober bday (just in case) or is your big day coming before ovulation? I'm 40 in August and it's not looking very good for me to (maybe) conceive till then. All we can do is try, right? Sending you lots of baby dust and happy (early) birthday!!

@Mirla hi, welcome!! No one's old here haha. 40 is the new 30 ☺️ how long have you been TTC? Do you track ovulation or bbt?

@Muriel84 so hard to wait to test when you have a test handy, isn't it? I tested as early as 6dpo. Simply because I could lol when are you testing again??

13Bastards · 16/04/2023 17:38

Thanks @VixFromThe6ix I think I am due to ovulate around my actual bday so won't be holding back from booze! I've ordered some ovulation tests, I've held off doing anything like that as we agreed we would be low key about 'trying' but I think it's worth a go.

VixFromThe6ix · 16/04/2023 17:46

@13Bastards that's great that you can have a drink on your bday :)
Re: opk sticks. I think it would be helpful for sure. It's how I found out I ovulate late.

@Mummyme87 really sorry to hear that. Sending love too x

@FiddleLeaf sorry to hear you’re feeling low. It’s so hard, I hope you had a nice day. A bottle of wine and chilling sounds lush x

Muriel84 · 16/04/2023 17:47

@VixFromThe6ix well just bought 3 more cheapo early response tests while I was out so probs tomorrow morning! 🙈 I’m fairly sure I’m out this month and just feel like seeing the negatives now helps me prepare. Wondering whether I need to stop breastfeeding. It’s only once at night and my periods are regular. X

Mirla · 16/04/2023 17:50

@VixFromThe6ix three months so far. I've done Premom ovulation tests. Really surprised that things have been absolutely regular and a normal cycle length; I'd had a Mirena for nearly 10 years which I got because of such irregular periods. But since having it removed my periods are suuuuper short and light so I'm a bit fretful that I'm taking a while to become fully functional in the wake of that.

TrudyProud · 16/04/2023 18:10

@Muriel84 I'm breastfeeding too - only in the daytime though (DD is 1yo). I'm conflicted about breastfeeding as I love and DD love it. My periods returned at 6 months so I hope I can get my BFP and give birth to next dc whilst continuing to bf as long as DD wants but who knows .

Was shattered yesterday but tonight I'm gonna try DTD but if we manage to conceive I'll know it was one of two occasions... so different with DD 🤣🤣

Eirlys1986 · 16/04/2023 18:30

@FiddleLeaf sometimes only a “pity party” will do 🎈 I hope you enjoyed the wine and start to feel more positive again soon leading into next cycle. It’s always important to acknowledge the disappointment as you have done though 👍🏻 xxx

vitahelp · 16/04/2023 19:35

@Mummyme87 I’m sorry to hear the bleeding has started now, but I can imagine it is a relief in some ways to not have to think about it now.

@FiddleLeaf I hope you’re okay, that’s great that you’ve got the support from your DH and have had a nice indulgent day, ir really does help.

@13Bastards Sorry to hear you’re out. And I know how hard it can be to reach certain milestones without it having happened. I would give OPKs a try, for me it gives me a bit of control back during the process.

Muriel84 · 16/04/2023 20:58

@TrudyProud yeh it’s a tough one! I really don’t like being forced into stopping but I expect we will if I’m not pregnant in a couple of months. It makes for a very speedy bedtime and is a lovely way to reconnect. X

DinkyGT · 16/04/2023 21:14

Hi all, new to this thread - thanks for creating it @VixFromThe6ix! I’m 37 (38 this year) and have been TTC #2 for about 2.5yrs now. I recently had a ‘break’ from all the ‘stuff’ involved and just tried to DTD at the right times due to feeling the stress of it all but I’m back on tracking etc this month and feeling more positive. I believe I am 1DPO right now so TWW here we come! Xxx

Anna531 · 16/04/2023 22:49

Hi ladies, hope I can join you all? I'm so glad I've come across this thread, it's good to talk to and just read the experiences of people in a similar position.
I'm 35, about to turn 36. Me and DP have been TTC #1 for 9 months this month, but every month the tests are BFN. 12 DPO today and BFN, AF due on Tuesday.
I feel like we've tried almost everything and no joy and most months I fool myself symptoms spotting.
Fingers are tightly crossed between now and Tuesday but a BFN at 12DPO definitely feels like that's unlikely.
The TWW drags towards the end!
Hi @DinkyGT 👋🏼 hopefully the start of your last TWW 🤞🏼x

vitahelp · 17/04/2023 09:00

Morning everyone, I'm 10/11dpo today and symptom spotting is in full swing. I feel rough today (headache/sore throat) but a couple of colleagues in my office were ill last week so it's probably just that! And I have quite sore abs/hips, doesn't make sense as I didn't work out Saturday and only went for a run yesterday.. Really trying not to overthink, I've experienced pretty much every 'symptom' going, so should know better by now!

@DinkyGT Good luck in your 2WW, I hope it goes quickly for you!

@Anna531 I'm sorry that you might be out for this cycle. Have you started enquiries with your GP regarding blood tests etc?

Mummyme87 · 17/04/2023 09:43

I really need to start healthy eating again and exercising after school hols but hell no am I going to the gym today, my bleeding is quite heavy and obvs I feel like shit.

vitahelp · 17/04/2023 09:48

@Mummyme87 I exercise most days and eat quite healthy, but it all goes out of the window on those heavy days as I have zero energy and just crave unhealthy food. You chill out until it slows down a bit xx

Mirla · 17/04/2023 10:01

Morning! I'm out of tests... Trying to be sane and just wait a couple of days but the temptation to take a trip to the pharmacy is high... I'm 13DPO now and AF due tomorrow. Given yesterday's test was a BFN, what do you all think? Is it worth keeping testing or is there not really any chance?

@Mummyme87 I don't think there's anyone that has had a period who would judge you for not wanting to exercise during it!

Eirlys1986 · 17/04/2023 12:07

@Mirla I always think until AF arrives there is always a chance. With my first pregnancy I was testing negative on Frer tests daily (including day before af due) until the day period was due

Mirla · 17/04/2023 12:18

@Eirlys1986 hmmm, ok, might just pick up another couple of tests then. They'll come in handy in future months if AF suddenly bites anyway. Thanks for the reply :)

TheBirdintheCave · 17/04/2023 13:31

@Mirla If you're 100% certain of when you O'd and know your luteal length then I think I wouldn't be testing again. At 13dpo you'd have a line on a FRER if you were pregnant.

Anna531 · 17/04/2023 17:34

Thanks @vitahelp yes we went in November and had blood tests done. November came back inconclusive for confirming ovulation, Dec was Christmas week so I couldn't get an appointment, Jan came back negative. There was no follow appointments and DP changed jobs so we've still been trying but no success so I've made another appointment for next week to ask where we go from here. I appreciate their help but just telling you you haven't ovulated and then that's the end of the conversation is so frustrating. Now I'm ready to be a bit more forceful about getting some answers.
