2023 TTC 35+

1000 replies

VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 01:42

Hi everyone!!
Wanted to start another group thread for those TTC that are 35+.
When I was first trying, this group helped me a lot. We bonded and went through pains and celebrations together. I had two MCs over 2yrs of trying and lots of crying as I was typing many of my posts. Support helped... Especially at this age.
I had my first baby Jan 2022 and here we are now trying for baby #2.
I'll be 40 this summer!!!
Join me and share your story ☺️

@VixFromThe6ix how are you? X x x

Un7breakable · 15/04/2023 20:25

@Eirlys1986 Thanks that's really reassuring.

Doesn't explain my spotting but at least it won't affect TTC which is my main worry.

Is it a good idea to forward the results to my GP or do you not take notice of home tests?

Mummyme87 · 15/04/2023 20:44

@Un7breakable 38 is great. Anything over 30 confirms ovulation and is good.

@Muriel84 yes first BFP since ectopic, and two consecutive months with confirmed ovulation. Last month prog 35 (only saw results today) and obvs this month I ovulated so happy with that as for months last year I wasn’t ovulating. I blamed covid and vaccines (not anti vaxxer though). I’m sad about what hope we, will tell OH when I get home from work. Not sure if there’s a chance it’s ectopic with those numbers, I’ve got pressure and discomfort in left side, intermittent. Will find out more on monday

Mummyme87 · 15/04/2023 20:45

Sorry, sausage fingers… ‘I’m sad about what’s happening’

Un7breakable · 15/04/2023 20:53

Fingers crossed it's good news on Monday @Mummyme87

vitahelp · 15/04/2023 20:57

@Eirlys1986 I really hope it is a sign, holding onto hope! I know what you mean about the timing of this month though, I’ve got a business trip abroad in a few weeks too so wouldn’t be the ideal time for it to happen but after trying this long I’d take any date!!

@Mummyme87 Im so sorry to hear it is looking likely to be a chemical, I hope you’re okay xx

@Muriel84 Hey cycle buddy! I really hope your symptoms are going to lead to a bfp! I’ve no tests in and plan to keep it that way, who knows what this week will bring though! Have you got any in?

Muriel84 · 15/04/2023 21:01

@Mummyme87 it sounds like you’re being super strong. I hope you have something nice and distracting planned for tomorrow. It’s great you know you’re now ovulating tho. Xx

Muriel84 · 15/04/2023 21:04

@vitahelp 👋 hey! Oh god do I have tests. I don’t know why I hoard them! 2 cheapie “early response”, maybe 5 cheapie test strips and three boots early response… I’m going to try and wait till Tuesday 🙈🙈🙈 not feeling optimistic in the slightest tbh tho did a fairly good attempt at SMEP. X

Eirlys1986 · 15/04/2023 21:11

@Un7breakable you can forward them to GP, I would look at them but if I were doing a fertility clinic referral for someone down the line I would want to repeat an NHS lab day 21 progesterone as it’s simply within the battery of tests we have to do in order for the referral to be accepted by the hospital 👍🏻

Eirlys1986 · 15/04/2023 21:15

@Muriel84 definitely spenny 😂, I got it on offer at boots a few months back so suspect they keep doing offers on it (think I got 3 for 2 which was pretty good). I had bought it on offer 2 boxes when I got pregnant rapidly after starting so I simply continued to use it as a pregnancy vitamin till it ran out then switched to plain pregnacare liquid as I always chew tablets as can’t swallow them 😂. It has a definite fishy back taste to it I’m afraid and makes any mixer bottle you put it in reek forever more afterwards. I must say the second time round they appear to have improved it and the orange flavour used to mask the fish is a lot better. It needs a lot of repeated mixing of the powder so I found taking it in a shaker bottle to work helpful

VixFromThe6ix · 16/04/2023 02:28

@Muriel84 had my heavy days yesterday and today along with a massive headache so I've been just kind of blah. Thanks for asking, love. How are you??

@Mummyme87 hope you're feeling ok. Sending hugs

Thanks for the support ladies. Just waiting for the bleeding to start.. which is annoying.

FiddleLeaf · 16/04/2023 09:55

Sorry to see your update @Mummyme87. I had my fingers crossed. Hopefully you can move to the new cycle soon.

AF didn’t arrive yesterday which is strange so I’m going to nip down for the shop in a mo & pick up a test. I have the most extreme period ‘pain’/sensation though. It’s as if I’m on my period but not bleeding 🤷🏻‍♀️

vitahelp · 16/04/2023 10:56

@Mummyme87 I hope you’re ok. Let us know what happens.

@FiddleLeaf Good luck testing this morning, fingers crossed for you! The pains with no bleeding sound hopeful.

I feel distinctly normal today at 9/10dpo.. woken up with a strong feeling this isn’t my month, which is hardly surprising after trying for 12 cycles unsuccessfully.

Mirla · 16/04/2023 11:05

Hi, I'm team old-people too. So weird being classed as that, when I don't feel any different to I did in my 20s. Which is to say, I've been exhausted all my adult life 😂
I'm 40 and been TTC a first for just a few months. Had a few miscarriages in my very early 30s, so I'm struggling to be optimistic about it, but maybe it'll happen!

FiddleLeaf · 16/04/2023 11:49

A BFN. Damn it! I started to feel quite hopeful. So my period is just late to mess with my mind 😩

Welcome @Mirla! I definitely feel young.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 16/04/2023 12:04

@Mummyme87 I'm so sorry

@FiddleLeaf what dpo are you?

@Mirla welcome! Same here re: feeling young, and I'm thinking about some laser or something to make the outside match 🤣

@vitahelp good luck for you

FiddleLeaf · 16/04/2023 12:24

16DPO and a day late so I’m out sadly 😞

Muriel84 · 16/04/2023 13:09

@Eirlys1986 thank you for all the advice! 🥰 I may invest. By shaker bottle do you mean one of those protein shake things?

@FiddleLeaf sorry to hear you’re late and bfn. That’s super annoying.

@VixFromThe6ix i hope you’re treating yourself to some rest and something nice on your heavy days. I’m ok thanks. 9dpo and did a test this morning I don’t even know why. It wasn’t even fmu 🙈🙈 it was maybe my fourth wee! Got up for the loo three times during the night and thought maybe that was a sign 🙄 x

Mummyme87 · 16/04/2023 14:15

Started bleeding now and heavy period pain 😔 glad things are moving on but obviously very sad.
Do I call this CD1? I’m assuming so

Un7breakable · 16/04/2023 14:18

@Mummyme87 so sorry to hear this.

Kirstyddd · 16/04/2023 14:18

Hi all has anyone every experienced a cold right after ovulation, very strange it’s come on from no where

Eirlys1986 · 16/04/2023 15:18

@Mummyme87 sorry to hear this too but as you say at least it means you know you are no longer in a horrible limbo stage. If possible, try to do something nice for yourself over coming days, you deserve it after all the uncertainty and stress x

Eirlys1986 · 16/04/2023 15:20

@Muriel84 yeh a protein shaker bottle would deffo work well or literally just any form of drinks bottle (will just require a more vigorous shake to get it down). I just tend to have it on my desk during morning and have it in bits as downing the entire thing in one go can be a bit yucky

Eirlys1986 · 16/04/2023 15:22

@FiddleLeaf sorry about the bfn, so much uncertainty and body trickery going on for ladies on here at the moment. Sending love to everyone experiencing it all at present x
