2023 TTC 35+

VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 01:42

Hi everyone!!
Wanted to start another group thread for those TTC that are 35+.
When I was first trying, this group helped me a lot. We bonded and went through pains and celebrations together. I had two MCs over 2yrs of trying and lots of crying as I was typing many of my posts. Support helped... Especially at this age.
I had my first baby Jan 2022 and here we are now trying for baby #2.
I'll be 40 this summer!!!
Join me and share your story ☺️

@Un7breakable I’m 13 or 14dpo. LP is usually 12 days.

the full bladder thing is hard. Had to do it for my gynae scan like yours. Luckily at my trust for any pregnancy scans you need an empty bladder.

Golaz · 14/04/2023 17:05

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 have you done a test? Could it be implantation?

@Mummyme87 fingers crossed for you.

Im out . AF came last night 🙄. DP’s away this month as well , so won’t be able to try again until June 😔

Un7breakable · 14/04/2023 17:21

@Mummyme87 Fingers crossed for you

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 14/04/2023 17:59

@Un7breakable ouch. Hope the progesterone tests come back okay. It's sometimes just peace of mind isn't it - just wanting to rule things out

@TTCnumberfour and @FiddleLeaf good luck! No symptoms doesn't mean anything

@Mummyme87 fingers crossed for you

@Golaz gah I'm sorry that's rubbish. Also tough for you managing alone w/o the help of your husband while he's away. No I haven't tested, my period is 💯 coming, it always does when I spot. I have been taking acupuncture and tcm herbs, maybe it's had the opposite effect i was hoping for... !

Cirque1 · 14/04/2023 20:30

@Mummyme87 I can definitely see a line on those tests! And I don't think they are evap lines! xx

Mummyme87 · 14/04/2023 20:34

Digital was negative and boots one had another pink line. Wonder if it’s a chemical. All very odd. Never had this before.

Eirlys1986 · 14/04/2023 21:19

@Mummyme87 It is really odd, chemical a definite possibility but could also be that you’ve had a very random late ovulation so therefore getting Uber low hcg at this point if very early on? It must be driving you absolutely potty x

LeopardLover · 14/04/2023 21:32

@Golaz Sorry you're now out until June 😔 I find it really hard not to wish time away!

@Mummyme87 I'm so sorry this has been such a crazy few days. There's certainly a line there, perhaps too early for digital anyway. Hopefully it's just early days and not a chemical. X

vitahelp · 14/04/2023 22:36

@Golaz Sorry to hear you’re out for this cycle. I’m also going to miss out trying in May as I’m abroad on business during the fertile week. It’s going to make it harder if I’m not pregnant this cycle.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I’m sorry that it’s looking likely you’re out..well done on avoiding testing. I’ve no tests in and hoping to keep it that way unless AF ends up late but we’ll see!

@Mummyme87 Oh no, hopefully it’s just too early for a digital to come back positive as they aren’t as sensitive. I really hope that’s the case and that it isn’t a chemical. I hope you know one way or the other soon, it’s so hard being in limbo.

39starstartry · 15/04/2023 08:11

Please can I join too? I'm 39 and TTC baby two. My little one is now 4 and last time I was pregnant I was 34 which is starting to feel like a long time ago! My husband didn't want a second which I had to respect but I've been working on it and he's come around the idea of a second baby. I'm tracking in an app and taking some prenatal vits. What are people recommendations?

Eirlys1986 · 15/04/2023 09:08

Hi @39starstartry ☺️, I am taking proceive max strength for women over 35. It’s horribly expensive but has a lot of additional bits to improve egg quality when older and ttc. I am aware some fertility specialists advise women to take it during ivf cycles to improve chances also. My personal experience of it is that when I was ttc number one at age 35 we had been trying 6 months and no joy despite OPK and timing sex etc, took this (both male and female versions) and got pregnant that cycle. I also advised a friend aged 39 and ttc number 2 to try it when she was having difficulty, got pregnant first cycle of taking with twins ! Of course, this could all be random coincidence but I can only report what happened to me 👍🏻

Eirlys1986 · 15/04/2023 09:09

Ps I am now 37 and ttc number 2, only tried one cycle so far so we shall see how the proceive fares this time!

Eirlys1986 · 15/04/2023 09:13

Oh and forgot to mention after taking them prior to first pregnancy my bloods- vit d,b12 folate and iron were all fab. I actually maintained and iron and full blood count within normal ranges till delivering which obstetrician said was fairly rare as most women do need iron towards end of pregnancy due to anaemia etc and I needed nowt! I do eat well so I’m sure this contributed but I do put it down to vitamins also. Ps I promise I don’t own shares in proceive 😂

TrudyProud · 15/04/2023 09:25

@39starstartry I'm 36 (37 later this year) with DD now 1yo I took pregnacare conception. Got my BFP cycle 1. This time I'm on pregnacare breastfeeding- they have the same ingredients pretty much.
This is cycle 1. Need to DTD this weekend as expecting to ovulate on Monday (not tracking this time). Will see how we get on

vitahelp · 15/04/2023 10:12

Morning ladies, hope everyone is ok! I’m 8/9dpo this morning and almost fainted when I got out of bed..I have low blood pressure anyway and occasionally get dizziness when I first get up but this was on another scale, I had to sit down in the floor and couldn’t see anything for a minute and was sort of in a spasm (?) while the blood went to my head, very odd. Obviously I’m taking it a ‘sign’ when really it was probably just a freak thing!

Eirlys1986 · 15/04/2023 13:25

@vitahelp wow sounds yucky! 😮…however could well be a sign as BP does drop early in pregnancy, possibly not that early but you never know! Fingers crossed 🤞, I can’t wait for AF to come this month then we can get trying again this cycle after pausing to avoid an Xmas due date 😂

39starstartry · 15/04/2023 16:20

@Eirlys1986
Thanks for the proceive recommendation. Will look into it.

@TrudyProud thanks,that's what I took when TTC my first pregnancy

Mummyme87 · 15/04/2023 17:27

So HCG is 6 and progesterone. Suspect chemical. Will hear from EPU on Monday but I suspect will start bleeding in next 48hrs as HCG will drop to negative

Eirlys1986 · 15/04/2023 18:22

@Mummyme87 so sorry to hear this, likely to be a chemical as you say, this all the awful confusion for you over past few days. Sorry you’ve had to go through it all xxx

Eirlys1986 · 15/04/2023 18:27

*this explains all the awful confusion for you over past few days

Un7breakable · 15/04/2023 19:27

If anyone is looking to have day21 progesterone tests done I recommend Superdrug. Sent my sample off yesterday, got results back tonight. Relieved it was 38 which is normal although I seem to remember someone saying 60-70 was best. Anyone have an input?

Eirlys1986 · 15/04/2023 19:57

@Un7breakableim a GP and for sure in our local lab anything greater than 30 represents an “optimal cycle”. To be honest I can’t recall ever seeing one above 50s and they are usually in 20s or 30s when I get the results so I would think your result is great 👍🏻

Muriel84 · 15/04/2023 20:12

@Mummyme87 I’m really sorry to hear you’re going through this right now. Is this the first time you’ve had a bfp since your ectopic? It is a good sign you’re fertile even though I know that doesn’t help the pain of it not being a sticky bean this time. I had two consecutive early losses (at 6+3 and 5 weeks) then when on to conceive my son straight away on the third cycle. It’s a sickening feeling when the tests start getting lighter I know. The things we go through 💔 sending love X x x

Muriel84 · 15/04/2023 20:18

@vitahelp 8dpo here too and the symptom spotting it real. Had heartburn this afternoon which I had terribly from early on in my last pregnancy and occasionally get since. Also nipples feel weird tho likely that’s in my head! When will you test? I’m really trying to hold off but the urge is there…

@Eirlys1986 thanks for the advice re: proceive! It is very spenny. I love a bit of anecdata tho and it’s on offer in boots for the next two days! I might succumb 🙈 did you take it after you conceived? Also, is it gross? Memories of revolting sachets of macrogol during pregnancy are coming back to me… I’m just taking 2000 units vit d, folic acid and a multivitamin with iron. I took pretty much the same plus 75mg aspirin during pregnancy x x

Muriel84 · 15/04/2023 20:19

@Un7breakable that sounds like a really good service from Superdrug! Thanks for sharing x
