My dd is 11 months old and we have decided that now is the time for number 2! My daughter took 18 months to conceive with a mmc in between, so I'm expecting a long journey. This is my first month and I'm on cd4.

@Chanel05 Me! My son is 10 months next week and we're going to start trying this cycle. Cycles are longer than before my son and I'm on CD17, thinking I'll be ovulating on Tuesday. Are you using anything to help like ovulation tests? Sorry to hear about your mmc, hopefully this time round it will be a quicker process for you

Goodgoodthings · 21/08/2021 19:43

Hi, can I join? DD is almost 14 months and we've just decided that we'd like to start trying again. Last time we weren't preventing but not really trying if you see what I mean, and I fell pregnant after 18 months, so this time feels different. Literally just had an Amazon delivery of OPKs, feels a bit surreal.

Can I ask - what made you both feel "ready"? DH is 100% on board but I'm a bit more of a cautious person/worrier. Every time it comes up in conversation with family they seem to think I'm mad to contemplate a small (what I thought was average!) age gap Hmm

catlover98 · 21/08/2021 19:49

@Goodgoodthings welcome! everyone thinks I'm crazy for wanting 2 under 2 but I couldn't care less. Main reason for me is that I'm turning 35 next year and I wanted to have a baby by then. I had a complicated pregnancy and birth and don't want to add age to the equation. That and my son has been so good and slept through from 3 months I feel ready to have another. If he was hard work maybe I'd be a little more reluctant 😂 is this your first time using opks?

mrsg101 · 21/08/2021 19:57

First month trying, my son is 15 months :)
Conceived with him first cycle so not sure if I’ll be as lucky this time!

Goodgoodthings · 21/08/2021 20:05

Ah it makes me feel so much better to know I'm not alone. I just feel like the timing is as good as it will ever be, and I love the idea of my DD having a sibling pretty close in age. I'm on the other end of the scale to you - she isn't a brilliant sleeper but if I feel like I'm in that place already so what's one more (famous last words haha).

Not used OPKs before have you? The instructions on the cheap ones has got my head in a spin already!

catlover98 · 21/08/2021 20:18

@Goodgoodthings Yea I love the idea of them being close too.
It will be really hard for first couple of years but then it will all be worth it, from what I've heard anyway yea last time it took three cycles to conceive and I used the clear blue digital advanced on the third cycle and I'm convinced that's what helped us conceive. I've got the same again and the cheap ones for the first time. The cheap ones will just get darker until ovulation and then after start to get lighter. Premom is a great app where you can upload pictures of them and it will tell you your peak. Where are you in your cycle?

catlover98 · 21/08/2021 20:18

@mrsg101 that's great you conceived first time, hopefully it will be the same again for you. Did you use opks then?

dopeyduck · 21/08/2021 20:19

We are TTC #2. DS is 20 months. We've been trying for 8 months but I've also had a miscarriage in between.
First time round I fell pregnant quickly on cycle 3 but this time has been more difficult. I did try clear blue ovulation tests this month (at great expense!) But I didn't even get a peak day - but showed 8 high days. Not convinced it was worth the money.

I'm on the TWW now - 8 days to go!

Goodgoodthings · 21/08/2021 20:28

@catlover98 thanks for the tips I've done the same, bought the clear blue ones and a pack of cheap ones so I don't have to waste them while I'm figuring things out. I'm on CD30, I have PCOS and had long cycles before pregnancy (though they're shorter since coming back?) so hoping that AF will come soon and I can try to track my fertile window again.

Goodgoodthings · 21/08/2021 20:30

@dopeyduck I'm really sorry to hear that, it's such a rollercoaster. I hope you've had lots of support through it.

Exciting that you've not got long until you can test, how are you feeling this month?

LittleGreenTable · 21/08/2021 21:34

Can I join please?

DS is 3 and we have been TTC since feb with not much luck. Currently day 1 of the 2ww so will be testing from about 1st September!

mrsmop21 · 21/08/2021 22:24

@catlover98 yes I did use OPKs last time (august 2019) and I’m using them again - clear blue advanced and also check with cheapies. I also took proceive conception vitamins which I’m taking this time as well as omega 3 and co enzyme q10

Kiaa · 22/08/2021 07:11

Hey all
We are currently ttc #2 it's been 6 months & our DD is 2yr 9 months hopefully gap doesn't get much bigger
I'm Cd 8 waiting to O next week
Best of luck to everyone 🌟

Chanel05 · 22/08/2021 08:10

@catlover98 I'll be using the Amazon cheapie sticks which I used both times I fell pregnant before. Used the clear blue ones for such a long time with no luck so don't want to spend the money. I have some cheapies in the cupboard still so will use them up but need to invest in a new wee cup 😂. Are you going to use sticks?

Whoops didn't mean to post yet. @Goodgoodthings I'd like a small age gap. Ideally, two under two but I'm realistic and know what it probably won't happen for me like that. We did have fertility tests before and both have excellent fertility (well, that was two years ago and we did then at least) but 8 cycles it took both times so I think it's just down to luck. What made you think now was the right time?

I keep having people ask me about number two which is sooo annoying.

OP posts:
Goodgoodthings · 22/08/2021 08:26

@Chanel05 that's good to have a clearer idea on your fertility even if it was before your first - I've had lots of scans before and know mine isn't perfect which is why in the end we didn't "try" - at the time I didn't see the point and we decided we'd put it off until after a big holiday we had planned. Typically got a BFP the day before we went 😅 so we'll see what happens this time. You're right about it being a lot down to luck!

For me I want a smaller age gap too - that's what I have with my siblings etc and I love the idea of them being able to play together/learn from each other etc. Also I'm prepared for it to take a long time again so I don't want to wait any longer really. Maybe the OPKs will help if they don't bankrupt me first.

So funny that people always have to ask! Thankfully my family are more sensitive over it with me but I do find it funny that my mom thinks the age gap would be too small, when she had three kids with that gap 🧐 got to love her.

dopeyduck · 22/08/2021 09:29

@Goodgoodthings feeling quite chilled this month. we missed predicted ovulation day due to being away with work and on different schedules but close enough there’s still a little hope.
Made for an easier TWW as I’m not really expecting anything.
My toddler is poorly at the moment so that’s a distraction from waiting.

Chanel05 · 22/08/2021 10:18

@mrsg101 hope it will be as quick for you this time too!

@dopeyduck sorry for your loss and hoping this is the month for you. I don't think the clear blue ones were worth it for me last time either.

@LittleGreenTable good luck!

@Goodgoodthings I'm nearly 32 now and that was when I was 29. I know it's not much difference but it all counts. I read above you have pcos - how long have your cycles been? Mine were 35ish before my dd and now they are 29 which is much better!

It always seems to happen when you give up! A friend of mine tried for four years with no luck. IVF for unexplained infertility which failed and then fell pregnant the next month naturally!

I had an emcs and I'm concerned (irrationally) that it'll have messed up my fertility as it was very traumatic and I lost a hell of a lot of blood 😬.

Goodgoodthings · 22/08/2021 11:18

@dopeyduck you never know, keeping everything crossed for you. Hope your toddler is okay, we’re also home this weekend with a temp and conjunctivitis…oh the joys of nursery.

@chanel05 My cycles used to be anywhere from 31-45 days & sometimes even longer, but since dd have been 35 each time except for a weird 17 day cycle after my 1st vaccine. I had an emcs too and it does play on my mind a bit but I don’t think I’ve any real reason to be concerned, I think it’s natural to feel that way though! Don’t know about you but I didn’t have any idea about csection recovery until I found myself in that situation. Sorry to hear you had a traumatic time - how do you feel about it all now?

@littlegreentable @kiaa good luck! Hope you’re both feeling really good and that this cycle is the one for you 💫

@mrsmop21 how did you find the OPKs to be? I downloaded Premom to help me make sense of the cheapie ones so fingers crossed they help me too. Where are you in your cycle?

mrsmop21 · 22/08/2021 12:25

@Goodgoodthings I have gone from blank circle to static smile this morning which is cd13, dtd cd9, 11 and will have a another go tonight!

catlover98 · 22/08/2021 14:34

@mrsmop21 how are you getting on with the cheapies? I'm struggling a bit, it was darker yesterday than today but still flashing smiley on the clear blue test. Not sure if time of day makes a difference to the cheap ones, do you have any advice?

@Chanel05 the clearblue ones are so expensive but I'm struggling with the cheapie ones. How often do you do the cheapie ones and do you do it same time everyday?

@dopeyduck sorry to hear the clearblue tests didn't work for you, they are so much money you expect them to work. Fingers crossed it will happen this cycle and you won't need to use them again good luck!

@Goodgoodthings how long are your cycles? Mine are currently around 33 but always used to be 28 before I got pregnant.

@LittleGreenTable good luck!! Hope this is the month for you

@Kiaa hey! Are you using opks to help? I'm still waiting for O but hoping should be any day now

Chivari · 22/08/2021 15:53

Hey! Please can I join? My dd is 27months and this is our 1st month TTC no.2. Conceived 1st try with our dd so part expecting it to take longer this time.
However, I have loads of pregnancy symptoms! I think implantation bleeding on Wednesday just gone. Which seemed a bit early but I could have ovulated early (I’m not use OPK’s).
AF due the Monday after next and the TWW is dragging!!

KT1992 · 22/08/2021 17:54

Hi Also TTC number 2. This is our first month so not using any OPKs yet we are going to try and see what happens. DD is now 17 months, we conceived 2nd cycle with her so fingers crossed this will happen ok but anticipating waiting abit longer x

Goodgoodthings · 22/08/2021 19:37

@catlover98 about 35 days at the moment but I’m breastfeeding and they only started up again in March so we will see. Honestly I’m trying to not get carried away because I know this could take a while all things considered, but you never know.

Hi @Chivari and @kt1992 ! Fingers crossed you’ll have the same experience this time💫 out of interest do you think anything in particular helped you along last time with getting pregnant so quickly?

Chivari · 22/08/2021 19:51

Thanks @Goodgoodthings! Me too, but got to wait another week to find out…
With our dd, I didn’t do anything specific. I came off the pill and we immediately started trying. We DTD every other day in the 5 days leading up to when I thought I was ovulating and the day after.
What was your first TTC story like?
