Sorry girls, you won't recognise the new name who has tagged you all. I made the last post in the 'part 2' thread and felt bad that I might have cut the link, so I've tagged everyone so you can find the continuation.

If it's ok, I'll post my last message below so that you all know what I'm about......

xx

myrainbowjourney · 30/06/2021 19:19

Hi ladies. Hope you are all well, and hope it's ok for me to jump on board?

Bit of background, I'll try to keep it short.

I fell pregnant with my first last March, and sadly miscarried at about 6 weeks. I was devastated but naively thought it was a one off, but went on to have another in July last year. Question mark over a chemical in august but suspect it was actually residual hcg. Was referred to RMC who did all the tests and they all came back as 'great' so they said I'd have progesterone next time. Next time came in March this year and while I had a few little bleeds, it seemed to be going better. Early scans with EPU showed nothing certain and blood tests then confirmed hcg wasn't doubling so they diagnosed another miscarriage. I opted for a mva so they could test the tissue. This wasn't pleasant, as I was awake, but my stubborn personality who wants some control of my body wouldn't have it any other way.
We went on about our lives thinking it was another one (having already become very numb to the news, but no less sad) but a couple of weeks after I almost collapsed at home and I had to have emergency surgery for what turned out to be an ectopic that had been missed. Turned out the hospital had had the results from my unnecessary MVA which wasn't pregnancy tissue, but they hadn't got round to telling me that......
As you will all be aware, it was all pretty traumatic, especially as I was alone and all of a sudden you are signing a form giving permission to take a tube away - as if the TTC wasn't hard enough already!?

When we thought it was another miscarriage, we started planning to see a private specialist, but knowing it was ectopic now makes me wonder whether we have a RMC issue or just horrendous bad luck??

I have still booked to see the consultant which is in early august, as the wait was so long. I didn't want to get a few months down the line and go to book only to find it's 2022! I know this is going to be expensive but I'd not forgive myself if we got pregnant again, I miscarried another, and then find out there's an issue that could have been helped.

I'm excited to have a plan and try again, it's just suddenly dawned on me what a long road we might be facing. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying how sad I am that this journey has come to this. I also really wish we could start trying now, but I know a break is probably best.

I've read this and previous threads and I'm so sorry for you all going through this, and so so delighted for those of you who are pregnant or have had your babies.

I joined a thread like this last year with my miscarriages and it was such a great support, it's lovely to see another thread with so much support in it too xx

myrainbowjourney · 30/06/2021 19:25

@HereIfYouNeedMe congratulations. You must be on cloud 9 🥰

I literally finished reading previous threads today and already I'm forgetful.

Do you mind me asking how long it's been since your ectopic? xx

Luan82 · 30/06/2021 19:32

@HereIfYouNeedMe omg this is amazing news !! That's a good line too for before AF!!! Wishing you a happy and healthy nine months ahead!! 🌈🤞🏼🙏🏼❤️

MrsB2019x · 30/06/2021 19:34

Congratulations @HereIfYouNeedMe 😍 how exciting! How are you feeling?

HereIfYouNeedMe · 30/06/2021 19:40

Oh thanks girls, you've just made me all emotional! 🥰 I'm trying not to get ahead of myself! Have a missed AF to get out of the way and then the 6 week scan but I'm very optimistic 😄
@myrainbowjourney don't worry it's so hard to keep up!! Ectopic was treated back in January with methotrexate. Waited 3 months which took me to the end of April. No luck that month, then a chemical last month and now this! Xx

Luan82 · 30/06/2021 19:43

@myrainbowjourney thanks for the add and new thread!! Im so sorry to hear about the huge F* ups with your diagnosis that is truly shocking. And very tough, also I'm very sorry to hear about your miscarriage. On a positive note it sounds like you have started the process of investigation now which is a good thing, and if the results are good then the odds are in your favour and as you suggest unfortunately the answer most likely is just bad luck. There are tests you can do to check your tubes for piece of mind if nothing else. 🤞🏼❤️
haven't posted for a while - lots has happened since my ectopic which I suspect is due to endometriosis though I've never been officially diagnosed my consultant thinks it is, Unfortunately I was hit with another blow after my ectopic and my amh came back disturbingly low even for my old age (38) so we suspect the only reason I've not conceived since is because my reserve is low and I'm either not ovulating or not ovulating a good egg monthly 😔 however on the positive side I'm currently 7dp5dt (7 days past 5 day transfer) through IVF! I don't know if this first cycle has been successful but I'm trying not to get my hopes up and I WIll keep going until we get our rainbow 🌈
Hope everyone else is doing ok - x

HereIfYouNeedMe · 30/06/2021 19:47

@Luan82 oh goodness you have been dealing with a lot! I have everything crossed for you lovely, you have a perfect outlook on it all! Please keep us updated 🌈💗
@myrainbowjourney I'll read your story once I'm home ❤️

Luan82 · 30/06/2021 19:49

Ladies check out 'the worst girl gang ever' on Spotify if you have it - they discuss miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy too, well worth a listen ! 💋 Xx

NigellasMicrowave · 30/06/2021 20:12

Thanks for tagging me!

Gosh @myrainbowjourney you have been through an awful lot. It is possibly just random bad luck - there are lots of women on here for whom that’s turned out to be the case. I went to see a consultant after my ectopic and she couldn’t see anything obvious. When I told her that I couldn’t get my head around it being bad luck one time and the possibility of the next pregnancy being fine, she simply said, “every pregnancy is different and there’s so much we just don’t know” I found that very comforting. I really hope it is bad luck for you too Flowers

Time is marching on since that transfer @Luan82! All good vibes coming firmly your way.

HereIfYouNeedMe · 30/06/2021 20:54

@myrainbowjourney I've just read your post lovely, you've been through so much 😞 you'll find lots of support here on the next steps of your journey, it sounds really positive! I hope all goes well early August and you can get a plan in place to get your rainbow xxx

HereIfYouNeedMe · 30/06/2021 20:57

@Luan82 when will you know if it's been successful?

myrainbowjourney · 30/06/2021 21:12

@HereIfYouNeedMe @NigellasMicrowave @Luan82
Thank you 🥰🥰. I do feel positive, but the thought it could be 'bad luck' makes me wonder if we should just try and not go to the consultant. I've basically had all the tests through the nhs RMC and they are all normal. My next step is to look at natural killer cells, which is a cause of recurrent miscarriage but as I said, the ectopic has thrown me.

I mentioned to OH today about just trying and hoping but he thinks we should get the tests. As I said in my first post, I'd kick myself if I (god forbid) miscarried again and I'll wish I had them done. The cost and side effects puts me off though, I just wish we had a nice journey of TTC without all this intervention. Don't we all!!

@Luan82 wow lovely, you've been through it too. So exciting you are in your TWW though. Is it 10 or 12 days after you get to test. Fingers are so tightly crossed 🤞🏼🤞🏼 and you are absolutely right, you'll get your rainbow. We all will 🌈🌈

@HereIfYouNeedMe thats so wonderful it didn't take too long, though I'm sure it felt like a lifetime. I really hope this one sticks nice and snug.
I didn't have to wait, and worried waiting means missing the 'higher fertility' months, but I think after the 18 months we've had, we both need the break. OH definitely did and I can't ignore him, sadly 😂

@NigellasMicrowave that is a lovely way to look at it. It's right to think all are different, otherwise a hard situation is made even harder. Easier said than done though

xx

Luan82 · 30/06/2021 21:23

@HereIfYouNeedMe @NigellasMicrowave @myrainbowjourney thank you ladies !! ❤️🌈
To answer your question I'm currently 7 days past 5 day transfer, my optimum test date (OTD) is Tuesday and the only reason I haven't caved and tested is that I had to take a trigger shot that contains HcG before egg collection, that can stay in your urine for a while, even the thought of a false positive literally fills me with fear and anxiety !!! Xx

HereIfYouNeedMe · 30/06/2021 22:07

@Luan82 yea I don't blame you for not testing yet! Aaah not long to wait!!!

coffeewithmilk · 01/07/2021 21:00

@Luan82 omg the TWW until OTD is THE LONGEST TIME EVER!
I caved and tested 4days post transfer! (I didn't have a trigger) I'm now 9 weeks pregnant 🥰
Have everything crossed for you. Try keep as busy as you can so the days go quick!x

Luan82 · 01/07/2021 21:16

@coffeewithmilk eeeeeeeek !!! It's so wonderful to hear successful transfer stories !! I'm feeling strangely ok, I know what people say now about feeling like they are in a little pregnancy bubble !! My period is officially late today (according to my usual 12 day luteal phase after OV) but my sensible head is saying it's the progesterone pessaries. My sensible head is also blaming the pessaries for other symptoms and I have a LOT - boobs are incredibly sensitive and painful and back ache and indigestion is through the roof!!! Ive never felt so pregnant without officially 'being' pregnant before - it's mad!! Xx

myrainbowjourney · 01/07/2021 21:20

@Luan82 this all sounds really hopeful. I totally understand you not testing early, although I'm sure it's not easy.
Really hope you get a nice big positive very soon xx

myrainbowjourney · 01/07/2021 21:20

And huge congratulations @coffeewithmilk xx
