@NigellasMicrowave Oh wow how exciting! Totally get why you’re nervous though. How are you doing today?

@Mistysmom Sorry to hear you’re going through this 😔 As daunting as it is to try again, odds are still on your side as any future pregnancy has a 9 in 10 chance of implanting in the correct place. There are a few of us on here who have successfully conceived after our ectopics. Hope you are recovering well from the methotrexate x

Mistysmom · 04/09/2021 10:14

Thanks @MrsB2019x, I am feeling much better now compared to a week ago. The first injection I was just tired but the second injection hit me like a bus, nausea, tiredness, the lot. Its just the emotional aspect left to deal with now xx

NigellasMicrowave · 04/09/2021 13:31

I’m really sorry @Mistysmom. It’s really important that you continue to take it as easy as you can, physically, until your levels reach 0, because your body is going through such a lot. Methotrexate does do what it should, but it made me feel very tired and I needed three weeks off work and a phased return after that. Letting your body heal will help you with your emotional recovery. Ectopic pregnancy is a nightmare - all the women on here completely understand just how awful it is and it may be helpful to come on here on bad days just to let it out. I was fortunate in that my hospital gave me counselling which was really helpful in helping me see my feelings were completely valid. I’d encourage you to see if you can seek the same if you think it might be useful for you - the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust might be able to help.

Finally, if you are resting, I’d encourage you to read through the three threads on Mumsnet about TTC after ectopic. There’s heartaches, lots of support and many, many good outcomes. 36 really isn’t old to have another baby but the most important thing is that you take time to recognise your loss, heal and help your body recover from the trauma - all of which will help when you are ready again.

NigellasMicrowave · 04/09/2021 13:33

Thanks for the good wishes - I’m still quite frightened but I have a nice line progression on FRERs which were stronger than last time. I’ve had strange sorts of sensations on my right side ever since my ectopic during ovulation and my period and I’ve felt this over the last couple of days which has worried me a bit. The EPU has me booked in the week after next and I just have to sit with my anxiety over what that might reveal and what it might mean. The support here has helped me so much these past few months. Flowers

MrsB2019x · 04/09/2021 15:13

@NigellasMicrowave I had niggles on my ectopic side when I was pregnant with Ella, think it’s because that area has scarring to it from the ectopic. Hope the time passes quickly for you, please keep us posted!

Mistysmom · 04/09/2021 19:05

Thank you @NigellasMicrowave. I will contact the Rctopic Prgenancy Trust on Monday. I do have free counselling with work so that may be another avenue. The hospital didn't offer me any counselling though.

I have started reading through the stories and I think that will help me going forward.

One question though - how long does the bleeding last? It's feels like I'm having a continuous period 😫 xx

Mistysmom · 04/09/2021 19:08

Also is it still a 3 month wait when you have had two lots of the methotrexate? TIA xx

NigellasMicrowave · 04/09/2021 20:16

@Mistysmom that sounds like there are good possible avenues for support for you.

Everyone is different but I bled for about four weeks - about the same time as it took for my levels to reach 0. I had a couple of days of no bleeding and then my period started so it felt like a long time! Getting to 0 was an achievement as it meant I could start taking folic acid again and look after myself.

As far as I know, it is a 3 month wait even if you had to have two doses. The hospital gave me a fairly stern warning when they discharged me when my levels hit zero. I’m sure you will be well guided. The EPT seems to suggest it is 3 months for two doses, too.

Luan82 · 04/09/2021 21:16

@NigellasMicrowave - goodness that's a lovely line! Everyone is different but I didn't get a positive from my ectopic till after my 'period' at least what I thought was my period anyway, the levels didn't rise as they should either and with my current pregnancy I got niggles at my side too, the first scan was the most nerve wracking thing I've ever done !! All good here- 13 +2 currently and we've had the 12 week scan now, all looks good, baby was wriggling around like crazy! Thanks for checking in and do let us know how you get on 🙏🏼❤️x

HereIfYouNeedMe · 04/09/2021 21:46

@Luan82 that's amazing, so happy for you! I've also had our 12 week scan, my due date is 3 days closer than what my dates said... which means I'm 13wks + 2, due 10th March... are you the same??

Luan82 · 04/09/2021 23:09

@HereIfYouNeedMe I think they put it back a day at the scan on the 7th week but said the due date was 12th March I think then when I went for the 12 week scan they said as it's IVF pregnancy they wouldn't change the due date again so I just stuck with that !! We're very close then!!! 🙌🏼❤️❤️❤️x

Mistysmom · 07/09/2021 18:20

Hi everyone, just an update. Had my bloods done again today and they have dropped dramatically again to 192 and my liver tests have come back clear. Hopefully another week or two and I'll have the all clear x

NigellasMicrowave · 07/09/2021 20:47

That’s a big drop @Mistysmom - it’s a bittersweet sign, but it is a step towards healing. I was about to come to this thread and ask how you are - how are you doing otherwise?

Mistysmom · 07/09/2021 21:08

Hi @NigellasMicrowave. I am well thank you. I hope you are safe and well too. It is bitter sweet, I am glad my levels have dropped that quickly but sad that its definitely over now. I am still undecided on whether to try again after the 3 months but things may change. I am just going to concentrate on getting myself fit and healthy and prepare myself mentally for whatever the future holds.

Thank you for all your advice over the past week, reading the thread has been helpful and has put my mind at ease xx

DoctorBambino · 08/09/2021 13:52

So lovely to hear everyone's updates! Glad to hear the scan went well @Luan82 a big hurdle out of the way! I've got my 20 week scan on Monday, looking forward to it but as always feeling a little anxious about what else could go wrong! Yours must be soon too @coffeewithmilk

Congratulations! @NigellasMicrowave 💛 like others I found I got a few niggles on my right side where the tube was removed, probably due to scar tissue.

Hi @Mistysmom sorry you find yourself here with us. The big drop in hormones can be pretty rough at an already emotional time. I hope you're feeling as best you can 🤍

Mistysmom · 11/09/2021 10:21

Thanks @DoctorBambino, I am getting there. I have been having niggles the last few days (feels like someone's poking me on my left side where the ectopic was). I hope you are well and congrats on your pregnancy xx

NigellasMicrowave · 12/09/2021 19:10

My scan is this week and I’m feeling unbearably anxious about the idea of a second ectopic. No bleeding or anything like that, but the same dull ache from time to time on my ectopic side. I have even more admiration for you ladies who have been through this post-ectopic scan - this wait and dread is horrible.

Mistysmom · 12/09/2021 19:23

I hope everything goes well @NigellasMicrowave. Just keep thinking positive xx

coffeewithmilk · 12/09/2021 19:25

@DoctorBambino best of luck with yours!
Mine is when I'm 21 weeks so just under 2 weeks to go.. feeling extremely anxious at the thought of it so trying to stay busy.

@NigellasMicrowave best of luck to you too.
I'll be thinking of you ❤️

Bundaberg84 · 12/09/2021 19:27

Fingers crossed @NigellasMicrowave

DoctorBambino · 13/09/2021 18:23

Good luck with your scan this week @NigellasMicrowave

Had my 20 week scan this afternoon and no problems at all. I think I might finally relax and just enjoy the rest of pregnancy now! What a relief!!

NigellasMicrowave · 15/09/2021 15:31

It’s in the right place!

Still a long way to go, but this feels like a massive hurdle jumped. Thank you for all your warm wishes and positive thoughts - I really appreciate it.

Bundaberg84 · 17/09/2021 12:28

Congratulations @NigellasMicrowave! So happy for you!

Mummyme87 · 17/09/2021 14:03

I’m hoping I can jump on this thread.

My background,

I have two healthy boys aged 7 and 3, always wanted a 3rd with a view to TTC Nov 2021 (wanted my youngest to be in school nursery and we were getting married also).
I was on Cerezette and hated the side effects so wanted to come off but wasn’t sure what contraception to use, so thought I knew enough about my cycles previously and could use natural family planning. So stopped the pill June 2020 at the same time being persuaded to get a mirena coil by a doctor colleague (I’m a midwife). So this was my plan but obviously covid being around trying to get appts for anything health wise was a nightmare. We only had sex once this particular month and I was sure I was not in fertile week. However 4weeks post stopping pill I had a massive gut feeling I was pregnant. And with a test, confirmed my feelings. I was beside myself, this was not a good time for multiple reasons, and decided begrudgingly to have a TOP. Made the calls, but couldn’t get an appt until I was around 6weeks.
I woke up early morning at 5wks2d in pain, shortness of breath, sweating, vomiting, diarrhoea, crawling around the floor. Called work and spoke to a doctor, decided to go to A&E. got a scan which confirmed I was full of blood and had an ectopic. Had surgery that afternoon, and had a salpingectomy.
Mirena coil fitted 6weeks later. So here we are, married, youngest in nursery and I’m keen to get cool out in a month and start TTC. But the fear is huge. I’m scared I won’t be able to conceive, I’m scared it will be ectopic again if I do. I’m sitting in a coffee shop as we speak hiding with tears in my eyes. I know I should be lucky to have healthy children already but I’m not done yet 😞

Hoping to chat with other ladies with worries, struggles and hopefully some BFP!

Dreamer30 · 20/09/2021 15:42

Ladies I've posted elsewhere but when did you all ovulate again after an eptopic and stopping the pill if you did.
I was given methotrexate, my 3 months are up and I've had my withdrawal bleed but so far all opks are negative, not even a hint and no sign of my period either. I've waited long enough! Lol
