Anyone TTC #2?

mamaatthegym · 26/11/2020 22:29

Lots of threads about TTC baby #1 so looking for someone baby #2 support!

If so how old is your current DC and what made you realise it was the right time?

DD has just turned 1 and we are thinking about #2 very soon! DD took 14 months to conceive so I’m prepared for another long slog...although a bit panicky that it could happen sooner! Am also still shifting some baby weight that clung on nicely during both lockdowns Wink

Anyone else?

I am.

DS is 15 months old. I've got 2.5lb of baby weight left to lose. We always knew we wanted two children and ideally for them to be close in age so now seemed like the perfect time.

mamaatthegym · 27/11/2020 20:00

Woohoo! That’s great about your weight loss. In an ideal world I would wait until DD is 15 months too but then again I just think oh may as well get on with it! I’m very nervous about pregnancy though. It was really tough with 9 months of sickness and that’s the only thing sort of putting me off at the moment Sad

Did it take long for your first @Curiosity101 ? X

I'm not looking forward to pregnancy either. I was in and out of hospital from 25 weeks onwards and DS arrived almost 7 weeks early due to placental abruption. There's a 1/10 chance of it happening again. I also had severe 24/7 nausea from 6-14 weeks, it finally eased off around 18 weeks.

Did you have HG @mamaatthegym? Did you try medication? That's the one thing I'm holding onto hope for this time around as I didn't try medication last time. I assumed what I was experiencing was normal and I should just get on with it.

And no, not long. I came off the pill and fell pregnant in my second cycle. Who knows how long #2 will take though, DS could have been a complete fluke.

mamaatthegym · 27/11/2020 21:00

@Curiosity101h no that’s really stressful Flowers

I didn’t have HG but like you mine was really severe (was signed off work for 2 months) from 5 weeks until about 22 weeks. I would definitely ask Dr if that happens to you again! I was the same just presumed I should crack on, but my mum encouraged me to see the Dr. First they gave me an anti-sickness tablet called cyclizine which didn’t work one bit! So went back and was given anti-psychosis tablets (can’t remember the name now!) which worked like a dream but I got a terrible comedown from it when I came off them. I was still nauseous until the day I gave birth but it wasn’t crippling like before although some days it was worse than others!

I also had a very long and painful labour, DD was back to back and took forever. 2 days in labour, 12 hours of epidural, big tear and ended up losing more blood than normal so am also leaning towards the idea of an elective c section but that also comes with its own downsides!

A lot to think about isn’t it! Deciding to have #1 was easy then again ignorance is bliss!

@mamaatthegym Thanks Smile it definitely wasn't the best experience of my life. But DS is amazing and I'm willing to give it a second go. After #2 I am soooo done though!

Thanks for the medication information. It sounds like that was a pretty tough ride for you Sad.

I had an emergency section. Personally, I found it really tough in the recovery stages but in terms of birth options, I'm actually very happy with it. I intend to elect for a natural birth if possible but that's only due to it normally being easier to recover from. Part of me is considering requesting a section though. They normally allow an elective section if you've already had one. I guess I've got to get that far though, and who knows if I'll even get to make a decision Grin

Funny you should say that. I was talking to someone yesterday and saying how nervous I am. They asked how I felt when TTC DS and when I initially fell pregnant. "Very happy and excited. I was very naive and ignorance is definitely bliss" GrinGrinGrin

Merrz · 27/11/2020 21:53

Hi, can I join? Been ttc baby #2 properly since July but haven't actually been using any contraception since DD was born, she'll be 2 in January. It took a year to conceive 1st time so we were prepared for a long haul again too but really want less than 3 year gap so hoping we don't have too much longer to wait Confused

Thinkingahead8 · 27/11/2020 22:36

Hi! Slightly bigger age gap here. TTC#2 and DS will be 4 in the new year.

We’re only on cycle 2. Was certain we wanted no more than 1 but lockdown and spending more time with DS with wfh made us realise how much we do want another.

timeforanother1 · 27/11/2020 22:37

I am 😊 mine is just 3 and this is our first month trying!

bez91 · 28/11/2020 08:15

We're TTC #2. Daughter is 3 and we literally conceived the first time and had a super easy pregnancy - we were so lucky. If I conceive in the next few months the age gap will be about 4 years.

This time round we're about 5 months in TTC, we seem to conceive so easily but not been able to sustain a pregnancy. Had a miscarriage in September and diagnosed missed miscarriage this month so waiting for surgical management next week 🙁
We're not going to track anything for the next couple of months and just see what happens 😊

Tanners7 · 28/11/2020 09:56

We're TTC#2

Our DD is 4 and will be 5 if we conceive in the next few months.

Don't talk to me about baby weight. I lost all of mine in about 18 months and I have been gradually putting it all back on since Confused

miami2 · 28/11/2020 10:01

Hi all... can I join? I am in month 3 of TTC DC#2. We conceived our DD who is 2 on our first cycle so was hoping a quick TTC journey this time. I fell pregnant in the first month but sadly it was a CP. I am using apps and OPKs and think I am ovulating today! 🤞🏼 to all xxx

MrsXx4 · 28/11/2020 10:05

Hi we are TTC #2 and I’m currently on the two week wait of cycle number 8. My ds will be 2 in December, I really regret not trying sooner as I wanted them close together but for some reason it just wasn’t on the radar beforehand. I also didn’t think it would take us long to conceive as ds happened very quickly!

Thinkingahead8 · 28/11/2020 10:31

@miami2 similar timings here. Opk peak today.

We also conceived DS easily (unexpectedly!) but unsure on what will happen this time around without having TTC before!

Pudding01 · 28/11/2020 10:41

Hey! I'm ttc baby number 2. First month trying and at the back end of the dreaded ttw.

My DD is nearly 4. Took 3 months to conceive her, but she was my third pregnancy after 2 ectopics 🌈

I tried for a year when she was 10 months and was unsuccessful. But could have been fate as no longer with her Dad.

miami2 · 28/11/2020 11:05

@Pudding01 ohhhh when u thinking of testing 🤞🏼for u x

@Thinkingahead8 the dreaded TWW I haaaate it!!!!! 😭😭😭😭

Pudding01 · 28/11/2020 11:27

I'm 11 dpo and tested today, spent ages looking and couldn't decide between an indent or a squinter, so writing it off as BFN 😂

Soexciting · 28/11/2020 11:35

Hi all,

I am supposed to start trying for number 2 next month. DD is 11 months. Had a sneaky session on the day after my fertile window and now 7 days later am having period pains, nausea, sore nipples and tiredness. I know it's not real but I think because my body knows what to expect it's even better at messing with my mind than it was first time round!
@Pudding01 at 11dpo anything is a good sign. You are not out until AF turns up.

mamaatthegym · 28/11/2020 13:27

Welcome welcome @Merrz @bez91 @timeforanother1 @MrsXx4 @Pudding01 @miami2 Glad there’s a few of us on here Smile I started taking evening primrose oil earlier this week and got fertile CM for the first time since I had DD! So I’m glad that worked. However I’m not trying this month. Just getting used to tracking cycles and signs again.

@Pudding01 sorry to hear about that. But happy you are trying again Smile DD is also my rainbow after 2 very early MCs the first time round! Also very nervous about those again too. Because I had 2 and then a successful I feel like the laws of the universe might even out and I’ll have more again this time Sad

@MrsXx4 I’m reading a lot that the 2nd takes longer but I don’t think there’s any real evidence to support it?! Hopefully it won’t be too much longer for you though 🤞🏼

@miami2 sorry about your CPFlowers best of luck for this month! Sounds like you need to get busy!

@Tanners7 haha lockdown hasn’t helped at all! I’m a little worried I won’t be able to maintain mine and also getting pregnant again I’m sure to pile on the pounds and then have to do it all again. But can’t really complain!

@bez91 oh I’m so sorry to hear that Flowers I hope your medical management goes ok and recovery is speedy xx

@Thinkingahead8 that’s a good thing to come out of lockdown then! Sometimes spending a bit more time together makes you appreciate the happy memories. I only realised I wanted another recently when DD started communicating and developing her own little personality! Made me realise babies are cute but quite boring Grin and I’d love another to watch both their characters blossom together!

@Merrz we both took a while for our first then! I am mentally preparing myself for another year so starting fairly early. There’s always the chance it could happen sooner though and I might end up with 2 under 2 and I’m not sure how I feel about that haha

@Curiosity101 that’s so funny haha. It’s definitely true! Also yes can’t really fault recovery with my birth, I was up and walking about very quickly it’s almost like nothing ever happened! I like to think because I’ve already had one baby that was back to back then the next one should be the right way round..right?! Grin

Sorry if I missed anyone...I wasn’t expecting all the replies but delighted we’ve found each other!

mamaatthegym · 28/11/2020 13:31

Think I missed you @Soexciting our DC are similar age then! All those symptoms sound promising then again it’s hard not to symptom spot isn’t it! I was a bit obsessed the first time and told myself I’m not going to buy OPKs and PG tests etc this time and just go with the flow! X

AmyandPhilipfan · 28/11/2020 15:00

We are TTC number two. Well I am. My husband thinks we should stop at one but is fully aware I want another one and we’re not using any contraception so won’t be too shocked if I do get pregnant!

However, it took nine years to get our 3 year old so I’m well aware it might not happen any time soon. I turned 39 recently so I don’t have very many years left to try as I don’t think I want to keep trying well into my 40s. But we’ll see what happens. I am actually three days late at the moment but I’m not getting my hopes up as I’ve been there many times before!

Soexciting · 28/11/2020 16:46

@mamaatthegym we are mad aiming for 2 under 2 but at 36 I don't feel like I can wait also I really want another year off work Grin
Symptom spotting is my absolute nemesis. Its the thing I can't deal with. Last time I was temping and using preseed and everything by the second cycle of trying. This time I am trying to be more relaxed. But I also have the pressure of the longer it takes the longer I am at work and away from DD Sad
@AmyandPhilipfan my husband is also one and done but has accepted that I want another one. He feels like we have already won he lottery and should stop while we are ahead.

mamaatthegym · 28/11/2020 22:08

@Soexciting ours will be sharing one (quite large) bedroom so ideally want them with a small age gap! Also we have excellent childcare support in place at the moment and might not have that if we move house etc (which we are likely to do but not for a few years as we are saving to buy at the moment)

These are all the reasons I’ve told myself are good to go for it early of course!

How are you feeling about the whole Covid situation? I hate the thought of this going on for another year and there being possible restrictions around scans/birth etc but then again it could take me more than a year like it did with DD and we could be over the worst of it by the time I actually conceive!

OP posts:
timeforanother1 · 28/11/2020 23:10

@AmyandPhilipfan are your cycles usually this long if you're late by 3 days?!?! fingers crossed!

@mamaatthegym is evening primrose advised when ttc then?

I'm also supposed to have ovulated today!

babblingbrooks · 28/11/2020 23:47

Hello all!
We are TTC #2. First baby is now 18months and been trying for number two 7 months now. Thing is we conceived our first after a year of trying and the month we conceived I cut down a lot on sugar and I'm not quite at the stage yet of trying that again! Maybe January if I'm not pregnant by then...
