TTC after a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage

Hi everyone, on a few really supportive threads on here but thought I’d make another for anyone who may be in a similar position to me and we can support eachother... I’m petrified of trying again after last month tbh.

Last week I thought our dreams had finally come true when I got 3 BFP (including a digital!).. a week later I was bleeding and a call to the EPU confirmed it was a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage.. so I’m back here and tomorrow will be CD1 cycle 4 (I know so many people have been trying so much longer) but just didn’t expect to be back so soon after getting a BFP.

So tomorrow marks CD5.. AF is due around 1st August and I promise to not POAS (apart from the one I need to pee on tomorrow to confirm the pregnancy is gone!) until 8th August if AF doesn’t show.. I can’t risk seeing a chemical and testing early again so have told myself never again will I test early.

Would love some buddies along the way with me 🤞🏼🌈❤️

Sorry, I was just after advice that google isn’t helping with.

I started with brown discharge on Thursday, which led to light bleeding Friday.

I’m still bleeding every day, but I’d say lighter than a normal period:

Can miscarriages be like this? I’ve been waiting for a ridiculous amount of bleeding, and I’m not sure if that’s only the case sometimes.

My scan showed a gestational sac, & yolk, so that’s how far along I am/was. They said to call them if bleeding got heavy, but I wouldn’t even fill a pad in one day.

Sorry if this is the wrong place, or triggering to anyone.

Littlebee1990 · 08/07/2020 20:48

@Sansa87 Hope you’re ok, mine filled a pad and I had to change it every few hours so I can’t comment really, so sorry to not help xx

@Sansa87 mine never filled a pad. There was never any blood on my pads, just lots when I wiped. I was only 4+2weeks and had no clots at all. How ever did a test a week after my digital positive and it was negative. Its different for everyone .
Fingers crossed for you x

EDW1 · 08/07/2020 22:58

@Sansa87 don’t apologise! Am hoping you’re just absolutely fine!! Light bleeding is very common in pregnancy and can often be totally fine. I really really hope you are! Could do with some positives here ❤️ Fingers crossed for you and will be lovely to hear that you are ok! X

Hi Everyone,
I hope it’s ok that I join in. I unfortunately had a chemical pregnancy on Monday morning about 5 days after my late period and positive test. I’m feeling a bit better now (other than the awful bleeding and nausea) and trying to just focus on the next cycle. It has been awful though, my husband and I have had a really crappy run of bad luck so we thought things were finally turning round and those 4 days were filled with so much happiness.

This will be cycle 4, we are lucky we have a beautiful 2 year old girl to keep us busy. I just can’t help worry its going to happen again. I’ll definitely be waiting until cycle day 37 to test though next time as my periods have been anywhere from 26 day’s to 30 days since they came back in January.

My daughter was a surprise pregnancy and we were being relaxed with contraception but not actively trying so we have no idea how long it really took. Now I’m so worried there are all kinds of things wrong with me. I had very low iron and B12 in March and have been taking supplements but I’m wondering if my body just isn’t healthy enough to conceive.

I’m so sorry to hear about everyone’s losses. @Sansa87 I had a friend who started bleeding at around 6-8 weeks and thought she was miscarrying and she now has a very healthy two year old. I really hope things work out xx

Rumples · 09/07/2020 14:47

@SMB20 sorry to hear that. This thread has really brought it home to me how common this is.

Glad you've got a little one to keep you busy and mind off it a little. Positive thoughts for the next cycle.

AF arrived for me today. 28day cycle following CP though, which I'm seeing as a good thing. CD1 and looking forward to the next FW 🤞

Littlebee1990 · 10/07/2020 07:19

Hey everyone, How are we all? CD11 for me and starting the OPKS. Anyone else feel like this cycle Is dragging?

@Sansa87 How are you? Been thinking about you.

@SMB20 Welcome and so sorry for your loss, like @Rumples said it’s scary how common it is.

I also won’t be testing early ever again x

I'm CD7 and think the bleeding has finally stopped. DH has been made redundant, so would it be completely irresponsible to start trying again? Before this mc, I would have been happy to wait until he found another job. But I feel like something has changed in me, and I don't think I can wait.

SMB20 · 12/07/2020 04:06

@Rumples it’s great your cycle has returned to normal, I have everything crossed for you this cycle.
@Littlebee1990 I can’t believe how many people this happens to.

I have stopped bleeding now and strangely had some EWCM yesterday on CD7. I’m thinking of buying some ovulation strips so I can see when I ovulate this month. Still feeling a bit sad though so wondering if we should take a little break. Hubby is keen to push on with trying though.

@marplemead it’s a tough one! Are you working and do you have maternity pay through your employer? It’s never really the right time to have a baby. When I conceived my daughter we were broke and I was really stressed about money but it all worked out and we managed to make it work. I had the loveliest maternity leave too and was just really careful with budgeting xx

marplemead · 12/07/2020 07:49

@SMB20 That's reassuring to know. I work and will get maternity pay. But we also need DH to work, because we have a big mortgage. He's quite happy to try again, so I think we will go ahead and hope for the best!

SMB20 · 12/07/2020 08:23

@marplemead I found our lifestyle changed so much too and it’s surprising how little you can survive on! I have everything crossed for you! How many cycles have you been TTC for?xxx

marplemead · 12/07/2020 09:34

@SMB20 Thank you! We haven't actively been trying, but stopped using contraception a few months ago to let nature take its course. It took 7 months and one mc to conceive DD who is 3.5yo. So I'm expecting it will take another few months at least to get another BFP.

I hope the ovulation strips work for you.

SequinCola · 12/07/2020 10:41

Is anyone using OPKs already? I'm technically CD14 but OPKs are all coming back blank. I guess that's probably to be expected as my last bleed wasn't my period? Just feeling a bit worried that there's something wrong. Frustrating as I was pretty regular and now I don't know what's going on!

laura214 · 12/07/2020 12:30

Hi ladies, sorry to hear all your stories! Please can I join? Went to A&E yesterday had a miss a carriage early at about 6 weeks! The next one will be even more special for all of us xFlowers

SMB20 · 12/07/2020 13:13

@SequinCola I haven’t used them but I’m going to buy some tomorrow and try them in a few days around CD10 (my shortest cycle has been 26 days but anywhere between 26 and 30)

@laura214 I’m so sorry for your loss, I hope you are ok and taking time to rest and care for yourself. Baby dust for all of us this month 😊 xx

Littlebee1990 · 12/07/2020 21:56

@laura214 I’m so so sorry ❤️

@SequinCola I have 30 day and usually get my peak on CD17 xx

SequinCola · 12/07/2020 22:38

@Littlebee1990 yeah I had that experience last cycle - but by now I was seeing a second line on the ovulation tests but didn't get a positive test until day 16 or 17. I'm hoping it'll just be a bit later this time.

Rumples · 13/07/2020 07:36

@SMB20 thankyou! Feeling positive about this month, a nice weekend of sunshine has definitely helped raise my spirits!

I think if you want to take a bit of time out from it all you should, it can be so draining.

@marplemead sorry to hear of your DH redundancy. People always say there is never a right time to have a baby. Hope he finds something soon!

Littlebee1990 · 16/07/2020 23:30

Hey ladies, how are you all? My body is messed up! so confused. Been OPK testing since CD12 and not had a peak and it’s now CD17.. I’ll test for a few more days but I’m so so confused. No discharge at all either and no twinges and I can always normally feel it. Ive literally had ZERO CM this cycle, no dry, no creamy.. nothing. 😟 Hope your ovaries are behaving better than mine xx

Hi

Can I join? I had an early miscarriage over Easter. I'm TTC with a donor so this month is the first month, due to lockdown, that I've been able to try again.

I'm one week through the TWW.

EDW1 · 17/07/2020 06:35

Hi @bitheby! So sorry for your loss. How are you feeling? I bet each day feel like a week at the moment! Sending lots of luck x

Sansa87 · 17/07/2020 10:54

How is everyone doing?

I’ve been in hayling island the last week for a mental health relaxation break with the in-laws. I do feel a lot better mentally now.

Bleeding has stopped, I have stomach cramps, which I’ve read can be the uterus shrinking again.

We Are going to take a pg test tonight/tomorrow morning to see if we have the negative.

Really upset that my skin is still so bad. I’ve never had acne!

I also “look” pregnant which is more upsetting. I’m very petite, but my stomach looks so swollen that it looks like an early bump.

EDW1 · 17/07/2020 11:40

@Sansa87 hey! Hayling islands not that far from me! I hope you’re feeling a bit better? I had terrible cramping too. The uterus doubles in size in by the 9th week of pregnancy which means it must grow pretty quick, so has to shrink back. X

SMB20 · 17/07/2020 13:02

@Littlebee1990 I have nothing yet on the ovulation tests but only on cycle day 12. I’ve started to get lots of EWCM so hoping it’s a good sign. Maybe you are ovulating much later this month? I’ve heard of that happening! I weirdly had EWCM instantly after I stopped bleeding.

@bitheby I’m sorry for your loss. I hope you get some good news very soon 😊

@Sansa87 glad to hear you are feeling better xx
