TTC after a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage

Hi everyone, on a few really supportive threads on here but thought I’d make another for anyone who may be in a similar position to me and we can support eachother... I’m petrified of trying again after last month tbh.

Last week I thought our dreams had finally come true when I got 3 BFP (including a digital!).. a week later I was bleeding and a call to the EPU confirmed it was a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage.. so I’m back here and tomorrow will be CD1 cycle 4 (I know so many people have been trying so much longer) but just didn’t expect to be back so soon after getting a BFP.

So tomorrow marks CD5.. AF is due around 1st August and I promise to not POAS (apart from the one I need to pee on tomorrow to confirm the pregnancy is gone!) until 8th August if AF doesn’t show.. I can’t risk seeing a chemical and testing early again so have told myself never again will I test early.

Would love some buddies along the way with me 🤞🏼🌈❤️

@littlebee1990 sorry to hear about your CP too ❤ we weren't trying when I had cp last month so this is actually only our first cycle trying! I'm currently on CD 29, af due tomorrow/tuesday, I'm usually every 30/31 days, 13dpo today! We dtd every day of my fertile period, I just use flo to track my cycle!xx

Also had a chemical/early loss this month. First cycle trying and to add insult to injury I should have been getting married yesterday which we have had to postpone so it's been a real rollercoaster week!

My bleeding subsided over the weekend so similar to a normal period so I'm really hoping that means things are just going to snap back to normal.

Good to know how people are calculating their cycles. I should be due AF on 30 July so will start tracking with OPKs later this week.

Feeling very apprehensive about DTD though, need to get out of my own head and just go with the flow.

Klc11066 · 06/07/2020 00:18

Af has arrived early 😔 I'm out!xx

Spinksy9 · 06/07/2020 08:26

The difference a week makes 😔
The 1-2 weeks was at 12dpo and I really thought we'd managed to conceive a little bean that would stick! Little did I know AF had other ideas on Wednesday!
Bleeding has finally stopped so took a test to confirm. Now on CD5 so fingers crossed this month is a little more positive!x

Oh I’m so happy to find this thread. TTC just feels like such a cruel process for us right now. I’m lucky that I haven’t been on the pill for years and we’ve used Natural Cycles as contraception so I know my (very regular) cycles really well. First month I had a chemical pregnancy and went through all the elation like you guys of thinking we were pregnant for a few days. I then had a killer period and second cycle was so strange; using OPK I don’t think I even ovulated. This cycle (3) I felt so positive and ovulated just when I normally do, but today 10DPO my temperature has plummeted. I ended up taking a Clear Blue Early Detection and it was negative. I have short cycles (26/27 days) and am now worrying that this is an issue. I naively thought we’d get pregnant quickly after a chemical pregnancy as everyone seems to talk about people being super fertile then :(

EDW1 · 06/07/2020 08:54

Sorry @Klc11066, it’s so disheartening when you’ve done all the right things and it comes along anyway 😞 I didn’t know until recently that even women with absolutely no fertility issues still only have a 20% chance of conceiving if dtd on fertile days! It’s just mad! Especially when people ‘accidentally’ fall pregnant.

@Spinksy9 I’m so sorry Sad doesn't matter how early on, it’s still heartbreaking. Fingers crossed for you for this cycle!!

@Blondecomment0703 it might be worth testing at 12/14dpo even if you have shorter cycles? I think as long as they’re regular, it shouldn’t be anything to worry about. After my mc’s this year, I too read a lot about being super fertile afterwards, I feel pregnant before having a period after my 1st mc which sadly ended in another and I’ve just had my first proper period since the mc and some have said it might be better now as my body had returned to some sort of normality since the trauma! So even if af does show, which is horrid too, it might be a positive thing to have one just so it’s kind of normal again? Let’s hope we’ll all get our babies soon!! Am feeling very impatient now x

Klc11066 · 06/07/2020 10:56

@edw1 thank you ❤ its very disheartening. I was young when I fell with my first, wasnt planned, and then fell really quickly ttc number 2. But this is with my new oh, hes just the best person ever and wants it so much I thought it would happen straight away like before, how naive of me. Xx

Littlebee1990 · 06/07/2020 11:27

Hey lovely lot!
CD7 for me and still some yuck brown sludge when I wipe... just go away blood so I can DTD!!
I really hope this a lucky month for all of us. ❤️

@Klc11066 not naive, just hopefull! Let’s keep every thing crossed for some bfp’s this summer! X

TJM123 · 06/07/2020 13:33

Hello all, I’ve just had a chemical pregnancy - tested positive on 23rd and starting bleeding at 4+6. Took a few days for the negative test to show :( I’m sort of confused now about when I’ll be ovulating, we’re just going to try again and see what happens! Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone xxx

Rumples · 06/07/2020 13:46

Fingers crossed for those starting new cycles.

CD26 for me on the 1st cycle following CP. Woke up at 4am this morning with AF type cramps so not holding out much hope this month.

@Blondecomment0703 I know it's hard but try not to get to down. 3 months really isn't long in the TTC journey...although I know it must feel like it.

unicornpower · 06/07/2020 13:56

Hi everyone, hope its okay if i join. I had a MC at 6 weeks in June and the bleeding has stopped and i'm going to start OPKing soon. Took us 7 months to conceive so beyond devastated at the moment.

Fingers crossed for everyone that their rainbows come soon xx

Blondecomment0703 · 06/07/2020 14:47

Oh gosh it’s so tough! I think people totally underestimate how much chemical pregnancy and very early miscarriages affect women! That positive test result is so loaded. I also think it’s so sad as I know whenever I do finally get a positive, I will be worrying if it will just happen again x

Littlebee1990 · 06/07/2020 18:01

@Dipsy77 I saw you asking if there was a thread for TTC after miscarriage, I made this a few days ago so tagging you incase you’d like to join us x

So sorry to everyone who’s here but nice to be doing this with you ladies. When is AF due for everyone? Mine is 1st August but I won’t test until it’s late.. don’t want to know if I have another CP 😔

marplemead · 06/07/2020 18:33

I had a call back from the EPU this morning, and she said to take a pregnancy test in 2 weeks' time, which will be the 18th July. That's right before my fertile period, so hopefully it's a BFN and my body gets the signal to ovulate. AF not due until 5th August, which feels like ages.

I've made a mental note of the dates, but other than that, I'm not going to track anything. All three times I've had a BFP have been months when we weren't really trying and DTD was fairly spontaneous.

EDW1 · 06/07/2020 18:33

@TJM123 you’re meant to count your first day of bleeding (even if mc) as CD1. Hope that helps? I buy the cheap ovulation tests on amazon and do one at 2pm every day, I have very irregular cycles though, maybe just do them this month until your body settles again?

@Littlebee1990 mine also says 1st August.... I bet I test way before that though! I have no will power x

Spinksy9 · 06/07/2020 19:14

I spoke to my midwifery until this morning to inform her of the outcome of my bleeding. Omg they were so lovely and doubled check I was okay and asked what happened and offered advice. Then another midwife called an hour later to book me in for my 8 week scan (system hadn't updated) and when I explained what happened she was so apologetic and again reassured me about trying again. Both of them wished me good luck and hoped to hear from me in the not so distant future. As upset as I was about my CP, its filled me with confidence then when it finally does happen I know I will be well looker after. I love that we can self refer to our chosen place of birth without a GP! BTW when do your books stop hurting??? My still kill!

Littlebee1990 · 06/07/2020 19:34

I’ve got no symptoms anymore and got a BFN yesterday so think everything is out my system. Really hoping it happens soon for us ladies x

Spinksy9 · 06/07/2020 20:33

@Littlebee1990 I'm due 2nd August. 100% not testing until AF is late as I don't want to go through this again! Fingers crossed!x

TJM123 · 06/07/2020 20:49

@EDW1 ah thank you, that’s really helpful! Going to order a couple of ovulation tests from Amazon - I like to know what’s going on hence the early PG test 🙈 Going to try and wait a bit longer next time to avoid the heartache as much as poss.

@Blondecomment0703 CPs really are underestimated - as soon as you feel pregnant or see that BFP, it doesn’t matter how early you are, it’s heartbreaking to find out you’re not anymore. x

TJM123 · 06/07/2020 20:54

My bleeding stopped on the Tuesday and it was a a couple of days when my boobs stopped hurting - tbh that was how I knew I was pregnant in the first place, they killed!

TJM123 · 06/07/2020 21:02

@Littlebee1990 my AF is due 29 July, let’s keep fingers crossed! 🤞x
