TTC after a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage

Hi everyone, on a few really supportive threads on here but thought I’d make another for anyone who may be in a similar position to me and we can support eachother... I’m petrified of trying again after last month tbh.

Last week I thought our dreams had finally come true when I got 3 BFP (including a digital!).. a week later I was bleeding and a call to the EPU confirmed it was a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage.. so I’m back here and tomorrow will be CD1 cycle 4 (I know so many people have been trying so much longer) but just didn’t expect to be back so soon after getting a BFP.

So tomorrow marks CD5.. AF is due around 1st August and I promise to not POAS (apart from the one I need to pee on tomorrow to confirm the pregnancy is gone!) until 8th August if AF doesn’t show.. I can’t risk seeing a chemical and testing early again so have told myself never again will I test early.

Would love some buddies along the way with me 🤞🏼🌈❤️

I'd love to join all of you. We had our second early miscarriage starting last Monday. Both have followed the same pattern- positives from 11dpo, bleeding starting at 15dpo. The frustrating irony is every cycle we've tried we've been successful then immediately lost it.

My cycle seems to bounce back to normal, so we're still continuing to try. I'm CD11 now and getting normal fertile window symptoms. It just all feels so pointless though- like chemicals are my norm and pregnancy tests don't tell me anything useful.

I've lost all the excitement I had over ttc- I'm no longer making baby name lists or browsing cribs. I think I'm mourning the normal ttc journey I thought I'd have a bit.

123feraverto · 23/07/2020 12:51

I'm feeling ok at the moment but it doesn't really feel real if that makes sense

I haven't been at work since Friday just how my days off have fallen but I'm back in tonight , don't know if being around other people (other than my partner) will make it feel real

A colleague announced her pregnancy yesterday on Facebook and that hit me

SMB20 · 23/07/2020 13:35

@MouseholeCat I’m sorry you have had two now. Even just the one I had has taken any enjoyment away and I’m so anxious. I hope you have better luck this cycle. My cycle came back as normal too but I have a feeling it hasn’t worked for us this cycle.

@123feraverto I know the feeling, a friend told me she was pregnant the other day and even though I’m so happy for her it just highlighted to me that I’m not. The look of happiness in her face was the same I had for those few short days!

EDW1 · 23/07/2020 15:04

I know the feeling with the fun being taken out of ttc. Whenever I see a peak ovulation I get excited so briefly before being reminded seconds later that actually the thought of pregnancy is actually petrifying, not exciting. I feel heartbroken that what is meant to be so happy and exciting is now covered by fear, sadness and anxiety! So unfair. One of my best friends has also just announced her pregnancy, I cried for hours as soon as o got home! Felt awful but couldn’t help it xx

MouseholeCat · 23/07/2020 19:48

It's so tough seeing friends announcing pregnancies- all of a sudden they are everywhere! I get what you're saying about the peaks @EDW1 I am about to take mine for the day (I'm in the US and take one on my lunch break) and I get that moment of "yay it's time" then it hits.

Littlebee1990 · 24/07/2020 10:47

@Littlebee1990 it might just be taking a bit of time to reset after the CP. It's good that you finally got your peak though!

Littlebee1990 · 26/07/2020 10:06

@Rumples So baffled, here’s my temp charts and they make no sense but just going with it as I can’t control

My chart is also all over the place right now too. If it's any consolation my follicular phase was also crazy after my first CP but my luteal phase was its usual dependable self- I've got my fingers crossed for you that you start getting a nice clear pattern soon.

Littlebee1990 · 28/07/2020 22:59

Hey ladies!

How are we all? I just saw a lovely comment from another lady in another thread and wanted to share it with you all.. it really gave me some hope

“There is a silver lining, in that it shows everything is working. Sperm and egg have met, you are ovulating and your partners sperm has good motility. That means It’s only a matter of time! Though the waiting of course is what makes it so hard!!”

xx

Oh hi @Littlebee1990 that was me! I was just reading the thread and thinking of joining! Lovely that you like the comment and wanted to share. I do think it’s helpful and hopeful to know everything is working in there...it’s a dark art this TTC!!

I am in my second cycle TTC after an early loss at 5 weeks. Ditto to all the pregnancy announcements cutting like a knife! And then feeling guilty for not being able to feel happy for the other person.

My hormones have been really messed up since the loss. So much so I really thought I was pregnant last month, super sore boobs and cramps, nausea, dizziness and then a big BFN. Due AF tomorrow....eeeek!

SMB20 · 29/07/2020 02:49

@Littlebee1990 and @Bouncytree that is such a nice positive way to look at it!

The waiting is so painful! I’m due AF on Monday, I feel tired and a little nauseous but that’s

SMB20 · 29/07/2020 02:51

Sorry I pressed post too early! Not sure if I’m just over analysing everything. I’m feeling more positive than I did a few weeks ago and trying to focus on nice things and self care.

Fingers crossed for everyone! @Bouncytree it could just be too early to show up on a test?xxx

EDW1 · 29/07/2020 06:13

@Littlebee1990 beautiful words! @Bouncytree thank you for sharing ❤️ I too was convinced last month that I was pregnant again after my losses, was just period symptoms instead though which I don’t usually get! Am currently 6dpo... hating this 2ww xxx

Boc86 · 29/07/2020 07:18

Hello everyone. So, so sorry you’re all going through this x

I had a chemical in June and one in July :(
I feel like that’s all I’ll have now and it’s terrifying to keep trying
I know you shouldn’t test early however I think it’s better to know if you’re having repeated chemicals
My doctor is being great and has ordered bloods, spoken to haematology about me starting blood thinners during ttc (I have a blood clotting disorder) he’s calling me today with the outcome of that and I’ll ask for cd21 bloods for progesterone - I have a 10 day luteul phase so could be that causing the chemicals
I’m also seed cycling, on seven seas trying for a baby tablets, vit c, vit b6 and baby aspirin in case it’s the blood clotting disorder

Ugh this is truly awful, I have 2 children and had zero problems conceiving them and holding onto their pregnancies, I just didn’t foresee this at all :(

SMB20 · 29/07/2020 08:12

@Boc86 I’m so sorry for your losses and that you have had such a hard time. I am really scared too and will be happy when this cycle is over. I really hope you have a better time this cycle 💖

My husband and I did discuss whether we should just find out anyway as if I am having repeated chemicals I would want to know too to have tests done. I think I’d also know because of the late period and the bleeding for me was different to a period. I’m currently about 10 dpo but think a test is unlikely to show for me this early anyway (from past experience).

Bouncytree · 29/07/2020 08:31

Hi @Boc86 so sorry to hear that. It sounds like you are getting really good care though.

Bouncytree · 29/07/2020 08:35

OMG....AF due today and I did a cheapie test. I think it’s a BFP 😯. It’s faint but there, right I’m not crazy? It is on the early side my missed period would prob be tomorrow.

It’s quite a shock I had a feeling because my hips went funny a couple of days ago which I had in last pregnancy. But I was afraid to hope, so I’ve just been down playing all the hope. Feeling kinda confused, excited and scared And in disbelief at the same time. Tell me I ain’t crazy!

Boc86 · 29/07/2020 08:47

Thank you so much @SMB20 and @Bouncytree
Oh my gosh amazing!! That’s not even faint! Congratulations, praying for a sticky baby xx

Littlebee1990 · 29/07/2020 09:07

@Boc86 I’m so sorry, it really is awful.

I think I’m 5DPO.. the temps and OPKs put my ovulation at CD25 and moved AF to 8th August. I am not going to test early because the heartbreak is too much, if AF doesn’t show I’ll test on the day but tbh my cycle since the CP is all over the shop so I honestly feel like AF could show up at any point, I’m so drained from it all tbh 😢 We just want a family so so so much.

@Bouncytree That’s definitley a BFP, wonderful news ❤️

Thank you @Littlebee1990
Best of luck

Rumples · 29/07/2020 09:15

@Bouncytree definitely a positive! Congratulations Smile

Rumples · 29/07/2020 09:19

@Littlebee1990 that is a better way to look at it Smile

CD21 for me today. Think I'm 4DPO, I had a positive opk on CD16 so think I ovulated on CD17.

SMB20 · 29/07/2020 10:34

@Bouncytree this is amazing news!! Congratulations 💖

I really hope you get your BFP soon @Littlebee1990 it’s so hard waiting and longing for a baby xxx

MouseholeCat · 29/07/2020 12:33

Congrats @Bouncytree!

I'm currently in have I ovulated limbo. Positive OPKS yesterday and day before, but my temperatures are all over the place so it's hard to say if the just above my cover line temperature this morning means anything or not. I'm in the US so just waking up and waiting to do my normal cervix/CM checks at midday.
