Trying to conceive first child with PCO/PCOS or irregular long cycles

Hi there,

I'm currently on my 3rd cycle ttc my first child and I suffer with irregular cycles due to PCO. I conceived first cycle but it was a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks. My second cycle was a chemical pregnancy. I'm now on my 3rd and it's day 34 with no ovulation yet. I'm using Ovusense to temp which helps to show when I've ovulated. I can't help but worry it was a fluke to fall quickly like I did. Just wondering if there's anyone else in a similar situation struggling with long cycles as I'm finding it really frustrating. Looking forward to chatting to some of you! x

@CatConfusion Yeah I'm trying not to get myself too worked up with the TWW I am finding it hard to think its possible for me to get pregnant so early on in trying so I've not got high hopes at all to be honest.

1 week! Exciting.
I have the full 2 weeks nearly Haha. I'm going to try and go about my days as normal.

Catconfusion · 28/04/2019 20:13

@SleepingStandingUp not necessarily. I got symptoms early on with my last two, mainly nausea. It's really hard to not get too excited though! Xx

I had NO clue with DS, I only took a test cos my period hadn't come and I needed to induce a period so did a test to confirm I wasn't and I was! Never had morning sickness. I was constantly tired but that was it really

EssJayyCee · 29/04/2019 06:11

My temp dropped this morning so I don't think I have ovulated after all Sad I feel like giving up.

SleepingStandingUp · 29/04/2019 06:32

I donny understand enough about the temps to comment. How long have you been trying Ess?

EssJayyCee · 29/04/2019 06:54

@sleepingstandingup
This is only my first cycle.
It's not the whole TTC I feel like giving up I just feel like giving up with this cycle.

I'm on CD50 and potentially still haven't ovulated. 😑

SleepingStandingUp · 29/04/2019 08:27

I get you. Yeah might be worth mentally letting this one go and starting afresh on the next on x

MamaDane · 29/04/2019 08:34

Hey there. I just want to say that I also have pcos and I too were pregnant at first IUI and had a missed abortion but at 6th IUI it succeeded and I'm now 18 weeks pregnant with twins. Grin So hang in there! And good luck!

SleepingStandingUp · 29/04/2019 15:57

I assume you mean a missed miscarriage?

Cingratulations on the twins!!

MamaDane · 29/04/2019 16:00

Oh no, missed abortion and missed miscarriage are the same thing.

Thank you!! My fingers crossed it works out for all of you guys 🤞🏻Flowers

Catconfusion · 29/04/2019 16:07

@MamaDane congratulations on your twins and thanks for sharing a positive outcome.

The term you used isn't a nice one though. I know doctors use that term sometimes but it makes me uneasy after having a mmc at 12 weeks of my first and very much wanted pregnancy X

MamaDane · 29/04/2019 16:12

Thank you!

Sorry it makes you uneasy, I obviously don't mean to make anyone feel uncomfortable, I'm from Denmark and it's the term used here. I just wanted to pop in and give you guys some Good luck wishes and tell you to hang in there! 😁🍀🤞🏻

SleepingStandingUp · 29/04/2019 16:25

No worries Mama, just a cultural Glitch x

Catconfusion · 29/04/2019 16:33

Absolutely fine @MamaDane and I understand it is a term used by some. No offence taken and we really appreciate your input. Just be aware it's a problematic term in the UK. Xx

Look up Metformin for treatment of PCOS op. Apparently it can help conception for those with PCOs. Don't give up hope either way though! I have PCOs, had a miscarriage in 2016 at age 36 and now have a 6 month old and am 3 months pregnant at nearly 39. It can happen!! I wish you the best of luck @Catconfusion

I hear lots of great stories around reducing PCOS and increasing fertility by going keto

I've been keto for a few years and spend a lot of time in forums etc. and though I don't have PCOS, I see consistent overwhelmingly positivity stories where this diet successfully treats PCOS as it is essentially a hormonal dysfunction.

This is one of the studies that is mentioned above

I have researched and lived keto extensively, and I would truly give it a try. Nothing to lose? It isn't a fad diet, it is used in many therapeutic ways, eg. the treatment of epilepsy

Catconfusion · 29/04/2019 20:10

Thanks @chuttypicks and @mooncuplanding It's always helpful to hear success stories and get tips on managing pcos with diet.

I'm not really wanting to make drastic changes to my diet just yet. As far as I know I no longer have cysts and my bloods are normal. I'm not insulin resistant either so likely not the full syndrome and no hormone dysfunction.

I've always had longer cycles and tried various diets. Nothing have ever shortened them so I've accepted it's just how I am. I eat a healthy varied diet. My longer cycles didn't stop me from falling pregnant despite the losses and my weight is not far off normal.

I've been feeling a lot better since I started Inositol so hopefully it's helping. If I don't fall pregnant again in the next few months I might look at diet xx

I just poas 😭
I knew it was there and it, in conjunction with my very tender breasts, were taunting me.
I hate waiting
I hate knowing it will still be likely negative in another weeks time.
And another month and another.
I just hate all this.

Catconfusion · 02/05/2019 12:48

I'm so sorry you're feeling low @SleepingStandingUp

I did it too and got bfn. I feel like I'm going crazy with all the symptoms I'm having. I am only 9 dpo so I guess it's very early. I'll test again on Saturday but I'm not sure I have much hope.

I'm getting lots of stomach pains so I'm wondering if I'm still healing from my miscarriage surgery.

How many days post ovulation are you? Sending hugs! Xx

OP posts:
SleepingStandingUp · 02/05/2019 14:40

Ovulated the same day as you, 22nd, which was day 21of cycle for me

SleepingStandingUp · 02/05/2019 14:42

Yeah I feel all bloated and my boobs are so sore, but I know that my pre menstrual symptoms are identical to pregnancy inez - nausea, sore bits, stomach pains which is mean of my body really lol

I keep thinking if I catch this month I can have a shiny new one for my mates wedding, a month later I may miss it and in two months I can waddle to the church

Catconfusion · 02/05/2019 15:03

@SleepingStandingUp it's quite early then for you too. Was it a First Response? I really hope we both get good news in a couple of days. The nausea is a very new thing for me that I've had only in pregnancy so it's baffling if I'm not pregnant. When will you test again? I'm thinking maybe on Saturday morning, give it a bit of time. Have you had cramping? I've had sharp pains over the last couple of days so hoping it's implantation and I'll get a better result when hcg rises. Xx

OP posts:
SleepingStandingUp · 02/05/2019 15:06

I had stuff all symptoms with DS beyond cold and tired but I do get the nausea before periods so I'm muddled anyway lol

Yeah maybe Sunday? I need to buy one. Not having them in the house is far better for my mh as its like I can hear them!!

Not cramps just random sharp pains? I wondered if any of them were implantation pains, if they all are I'm having octuplets lol

DS likes waking up at 5. 30.and I ne er sleep before midnight so possible constant exhaustion is caused by the stinky one I already have lol

SleepingStandingUp · 02/05/2019 15:07

What day of your cycle did you ovulate?

Yeah twins between us would be good 😂😍
