Trying to conceive first child with PCO/PCOS or irregular long cycles

Hi there,

I'm currently on my 3rd cycle ttc my first child and I suffer with irregular cycles due to PCO. I conceived first cycle but it was a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks. My second cycle was a chemical pregnancy. I'm now on my 3rd and it's day 34 with no ovulation yet. I'm using Ovusense to temp which helps to show when I've ovulated. I can't help but worry it was a fluke to fall quickly like I did. Just wondering if there's anyone else in a similar situation struggling with long cycles as I'm finding it really frustrating. Looking forward to chatting to some of you! x

Hello girls,

I am sorry I did not post for a long Time but was feeling really donne with ttc. My cycle is just madness I am so frustrated . I have had spotting almost daily for the past 2 weeks. Spotting stopped 3 days ago. My temp is 36.4 or 36.3 since the beginning of my cycle. Today is cd 31. I have absolutely no idea whether this cycle is annovulatory or if o is still to come. I have had cm on and off since day 12. Also had almost positive opks 3 on different occasions but no positive.

@EssJayyCee so frustrating your appointement had been cancelled !

@Avocuddles congrats on the scan you must feel so relieved

@Catconfusion do they let your husband be with you for the birth ? Here I have friends whose husbands are not allowed in the hospital

Catconfusion · 25/03/2020 14:26

Hey @Ellabb great to hear from you. So sorry your cycles are so confusing. Have you seen the Gp?

I think most hospitals are allowing birth partners. If ladies are going in alone it’s usually a childcare issue as many can’t just leave with grandparents during the current situation. We’re lucky this is our first. My c section is two weeks away but I’m getting some signs he’s getting ready so I’m hoping it’ll kick off soon. Just want him here safely now! Xx

Hi @catconfusion, no GP appointment is allowed here unless you are about to have your baby due to coronavirus (no scan either). So I have to wait and continue guessing what's going on.

I can totally relate to your feeling ! It is so stressing ! I hope you can cuddle your little one very soon !

Catconfusion · 25/03/2020 16:58

Thanks @Ellabb just wondered if you’d got in before the madness started. So sorry you can’t get some answers now. Stress can make things worse and it’s impossible to not be stressed at the moment.

I literally can’t wait to meet him! Xx

Hi ladies. Just checking in.

@Catconfusion I know it’s not the perfect time to be having a baby but how lovely that you will have a little bundle of happiness in two weeks ☺️ So excited for you and can’t wait to see pics (if you want to share) x

@Avocuddles Lovely news about your scan ☺️

@EssJayyCee how are you doing?

I’m so excited as I think I am/have ovulated 😬 I got a peak on an OPK yesterday morning which I’ve never had and my temps have risen this morning and LH is still high. Do you think it’s o day today or yesterday? 🤔 Fingers crossed it stays high now. 2 weeks left of lockdown and the TWW 😅

OrangeJ · 28/03/2020 08:32

Actually have just done another OPK and it’s still a very strong positive and “peak” in Femometer. When does it come back down? 🤔

Catconfusion · 28/03/2020 08:41

Thanks @OrangeJ it’s 8 more sleeps until my c section if he doesn’t come before. We are really excited! Of course it’s a worry but there’s not much we can do apart from be careful we don’t catch it before the birth. Our hospital is very good so I’m sure we’ll be in good hands.

Great news about the opk. I’d say O was probably yesterday if you had a rise today. Sometimes the LH can hang around. Keep taking your temp for a few days and see if it stays up. Fingers crossed this is it for you! Xx

Hi @OrangeJ
I'm okay thank you, I think mentally I have given up TTC.
Nothing is particularly going in our favour and I just can't deal with it anymore 😢

I had a HSG over 2 weeks ago now and every time we BD I end up spotting brown for a few days after so then we can't BD. Potentially a blockage too.

I won't get seen by my gynaecologist until DP has had a second SA which he is reluctant to book and we aren't sure he will even get an appointment because of Coronovirus. So its again more waiting.

I'm not getting even a sniff of a Positive opk and I am on CD22 now.

Good Luck to you all in the rest of your journeys.
You will all make amazing parents, sadly my dream of becoming a mum is broken and not one that will come true so I unfortunately won't be joining you. 😭 xx

Catconfusion · 29/03/2020 10:28

I’m so sorry to hear this @EssJayyCee please don’t give up. This difficult time will pass and I truly believe you’ll be a Mum one day. I can imagine the frustration of CV is immense and making you feel even worse. It will pass though and you can pick up again with treatment. I’ll be thinking of you! Xx

Oh @EssJayyCee 😢 maybe don’t give up indefinitely but just have a bit of break to give your head some space. CV is a huge added stress so can’t be helping.

You will be an amazing mum one day too! X

EssJayyCee · 29/03/2020 22:49

It's clearly not meant to be so what's the point anymore?

Ellabb · 30/03/2020 06:10

Hi,

@OrangeJ great for your o ! I agree with @Catconfusion on the date given your temp rise !

@Catconfusion I feel really excited for you !

@EssJayyCee I see you’re feeling desperate. Maybe you need some fertility help and everything is delayed because of the virus but you are young and have time aheas of you so there is still hope !

Catconfusion · 30/03/2020 07:08

@EssJayyCee many many other women take a long time to conceive and need interventions to help them. You have time and I’m sure there’s lots more you can try once you see the consultant. It’s so encouraging that your hormone tests were normal. You perhaps just need a bit of help with ovulation. There are no signs you’re not meant to be a Mum.

It’s awful that the virus has led to so many people with infertility issues having to put treatments on hold but life will go back to normal. You will get help with time.

For now look after yourself and do some healing, that way you’ll be mentally strong for when you start any treatment they suggest. Take care and don’t give up hope! Xx

Avocuddles · 07/04/2020 07:20

@Catconfusion congratulations that is amazing news! So happy for you after a long and tough journey. Hope you and Beren are well and not kept in too long.

@EssJayyCee how are you?

EssJayyCee · 07/04/2020 07:59

Congratulations @Catconfusion 🥳💙 What a lovely name!
I bet you're over the moon!
When can you go home?

EssJayyCee · 07/04/2020 08:01

@Avocuddles Hi, I am okay, thanks for asking.
I've been trying to put TTC to the back of my mind.

I have been doing opks once a day but no luck with a positive. I think this is going to be a long annovulatory cycle. Currently on CD35.

How are you?

OrangeJ · 07/04/2020 09:08

Aaaw amazing news @Catconfusion congratulations 💙 love his name too 🥰

Avocuddles · 07/04/2020 09:13

@EssJayyCee I'm ok thanks, 15 weeks now though feeling nervous after being so ill over the past few weeks.

Trying to put TTC to the back of your mind isn't a bad idea at all, you need to look after your mental health and it's so tough when it's all you can think of. The cycle before the one where I conceived lasted 60 days and we weren't TTC on the one when I did fall pregnant as we were waiting for treatment, we only had unprotected sex on the two days when I had a strong opk and that was enough. The common theme the three times I've conceived is that I didn't have any expectations that cycle and had pretty much given up on things happening naturally. Your cycles seem very similar to mine so i have every confidence that it will happen again for you - I just hope you don't have to wait too long and that the fertility clinic get you in quickly once life gets back to 'normal'.....

EssJayyCee · 07/04/2020 18:46

@Avocuddles I'm honestly still feeling like giving up entirely. There is obviously something written in the stars somewhere that says I'm not to be a mum so I just can't be bothered anymore. I like your optimism for me but I don't feel it.

I doubt we will get seen quickly either because DP needs another SA which he can't get booked because the department is closed.

Avocuddles · 07/04/2020 22:18

@EssJayyCee I wasn't optimistic about things happening naturally and had pretty much given up on that so I understand how you feel. From what i recall you're a bit younger than me (I'm 37 this year) so there's no reason why you couldn't step back from TTC for a while and then return 6 or 12 months down the line if now doesn't feel like the right time. You will become a mum I'm sure, you might need a little help but the fact give been pregnant before is really encouraging.....
