Thanks for the new thread, just checking in to place mark. I'm in TWW territory now but not sure we really did enough this month. Time will tell.

If I am not lucky this month then I will be looking for advice on OPKs I think

Russkispy · 18/02/2019 09:32

Thank you @Hobbes39 for the new thread Smile

Thanks I've found you!

Cleozeta · 18/02/2019 16:14

So, apparently, the clinic I went to won't do IUI for anyone over 36 years old. They also won't do any form of treatment unless agreed by a doctor in a consultation, well the doctor I saw pretty much told me to fuck off, so unless I now pay for another consultation with a different doctor then I can't do anything. Fuming.

Hobbes39 · 18/02/2019 17:05

@Cleozeta - sounds to me like you need to change clinic - are there other choices near you? Sorry your clinic are being so unhelpful - it's really not what you need x

It's just made me feel old and a bit pushed aside. I don't think they can or will help me. Unfortunately they are the clinic in my area that seemed to cater for older people. The other one (there are only 2) is connected to the hospital and basis itself heavily on NHS referals (even though IVF is no longer available on NHS here). I may still call them and see what, if anything, they can do. Otherwise it'll be a trip to London.
I'm just beginning to feel like a bit of a joke. Like an 80 year old going into a salon asking for a vajazzle. That's how I feel people are looking at me now

Rose68 · 18/02/2019 17:57

@Cleo I really don’t understand it! Surely it’s up to you if you want to pay for fertility treatment. I understand a lot of clinics won’t do iui over a certain age, but 36 does seem very young. Are we really this old? The trouble with going to London is prices will shoot up, but maybe it’s worth it.

Thanks for the new thread @Hobbes39.

I have put on 5 pounds, which is quite a lot for me because I am quite little. I can’t understand it because I have been eating healthily. I have cut out all bad stuff, but I have been having full fat natural yogurt and also some of the healthy bars I suspect are quite bad because they are full of nuts. So maybe it’s that, or maybe it’s the dhea or ubiquinol. Either way, I really didn’t need to put on weight. 😬

Russkispy · 18/02/2019 18:12

@Cleozeta that's outrageous! I hope you find a better clinic!
Thought I'd try a clearblue digital test with weeks indicator. Well it said Not Pregnant! Then I took a FRER right after and the line was still there but slightly lighter. Guess the fancy clearblue is not that sensitive and I'm not even 3 weeks? And why FRER shows a a lighter line? I've been feeling queasy all day today. And won't let those tests mess with my head. Booked blood tests on Friday and Monday. Till then, ill just get on with it.

Realitysucks · 18/02/2019 18:15

@Hobbes39 thanks for the new thread, am just checking in.

Realitysucks · 18/02/2019 18:22

@Cleozetta that is awful. Why don’t you try Access Fertility they have a package designed for over 40s and will tell you where your nearest clinic is. Some clinics will not accept new patients unless they are either with Access.

Realitysucks · 18/02/2019 18:30

@Ruskisspy from what I understand clear blue test for above 50mIU/ml of HCG and FRER tests for 6.5mIUml and above. If it’s an afternoon poas then maybe more diluted!

I poas today, so stupid but want to test out trigger shot. Yesterday line was really dark and today a lot lighter so shot is coming out of my system it would seem.

Everything feels so tender today not sure of because ovulation was from injections and homrones are all over the place. I think if AF comes it’s gonna be a bad one 😬

hellenbackagen · 18/02/2019 19:26

sorry to read that cleo that seems very harsh.
and makes me feel positively ancient. (47 in a week)

ladies can i ask you very knowledgable peeps about frequency of dtd?

during my fertile week i tend to just dtd when ever and dp is usually up for it so sometimes can be a couple of times in 24 hours (this is not a chore! i still jump his bones whenever the opportunity arises!)

do you think this could be actually harming my chances? (if there are actually any chances at my advanced years)
in reality i dont hold out a great deal of hope anymore so just figure have fun and enjoy! im on supplements now and have bought some for him to try but can you actually dtd too much to be successful?

Hobbes39 · 18/02/2019 20:04

@hellenbackagen - i believe it depends - do you know if your DH has any issues with his sperm? I don't think there is an issue if his sperm count etc is good - but I believe it can be a bit of an issue if not hence the every-other-day advice often given. Someone may know more tho...! X

hellenbackagen · 18/02/2019 20:20

well he is the epitome of fit and he had tests for ivf previously (previous life) with no issues
he got me upduffed 2.5 years ago with a beautifully sticky pg however the NIPT showed T21 and it all went wrong from there - my eggs the issue not his sperm)

i would give absolutely anything for one more try but i think im kidding myself now.
we have dtd at the absolute right times with no hint of a bfp and i think maybe i am just too old, which is really sad. he would have been a fabulous dad.

ive started him on wellman vits! cant hurt for a few months.

BooseysMom · 18/02/2019 20:39

Checking in! Just posted this on the last thread...
Thank you Cleo, Chat & Little for birthday wishes 😊 I'm glad it's over tbh. Actually feel better today now it's out if the way! I do feel old I'm afraid. I feel all befuddled! Me and DH not getting on at all now .making me glad we haven't got a newborn to cope with.

Little..sorry you're feeling down. Here's a virtual hug x

Cleo..what a nightmare..I'm sorry you had this crap with the clinic x

Cleozeta · 18/02/2019 21:23

The clinic is super crap - I think particularly the doctor we saw. I don't think she knows her arse from her elbow.
We called the clinic last Friday and they told us we needed a plan to book for IUI, so we said we didn't have a plan. The doctor had forgotten to send us the notes, so she sent them later that day, but it litterally said nothing useful and was not a plan at all. We contacted her and she said we could just phone reception to book IUI, but turned out for those 2 reasons (age & no plan) we couldn't. So how did doctor not know this??

Reality - my clinic is an access one. But what does that mean? What is the over 40's package? This wasn't mentioned.

Just so confused and in limbo.

Next month I am going to start my home medicated cycle with clomid and progesterone which the amazing ladies on here have sent me. Don't know where I'd be without you lot Smile

Realitysucks · 18/02/2019 22:03

@Cleozetta I have done the multicycle plan but I can’t remeber how old you are, I think it’s for under 45s. Over 45 is ED plan. There is another one can’t remember what it’s called. Will have a look around. Where are you based ?

Realitysucks · 18/02/2019 22:09

@cleozeta ivf.org.uk/about/ivf-packages/assured-fertility/

What about this?

Realitysucks · 18/02/2019 22:11

@Cleozeta so have you paid clinic for treatment or access? I paid for a multicycle with access and then just buy drugs from my clinic. It means that one cycle is classed as egg collection so this time I got cancelled I just paid for drugs and still have two cycles left.

Realitysucks · 18/02/2019 22:16

@Cleozeta just ask to see different doctor. i complained at my clinic about lack of Info( well DH did it for me) now I have a different consultant who is ok and better. Problem is one thing a friend warned me and given the job I do,( I’m a lawyer! Ridiculous that I’m so good a fighting my clients case but with this I was a total mess even though the service was appalling!) the clinics are selling a service and a product. For us it’s an emotional journey for them we are cash cows literally!

Cleozeta · 18/02/2019 22:44

Reality - I just turned 42 last week (sob)
I just did the fertility health check so far so I paid the clinic. Is it 2 seperate things then? I think I will see another doctor, we've been told it will cost another £200 but we've come away with nothing from the other one so I think it's the only option.
I wish I was a cash cow, it would be nice for them to try and flog me something, anything! I think if I see another doctor for £200 I won't be leaving his/her office without a plan. Handcuffs at the ready!
