I'm absolutely convinced it's AF. And tomorrow bloods will confirm it, I'm sure. If HCG is less than 1, then my doc will agree with starting IVF following day. I'll have my results in the afternoon.

Rose68 · 21/02/2019 18:27

@Russkispy I’m so sorry, do you think it was a chemical? Sending you hugs x

Russkispy · 21/02/2019 18:37

@Rose68 I don't even know what chemical pregnancy is?! I tried to read about this morning but quit. Any of you lovely ladies experienced this crappy situation? Is it what I've been going through?

Hobbes39 · 21/02/2019 19:26

@Russkispy - I'm so sorry you are going through this. Chemical pregnancy is basically a v v early miscarriage. It's surprisingly common sadly, especially for us older ladies. Is basically when a fertilised egg has implanted / begun to implant and so you've released enough HCG to have a positive pregnancy test, but then it doesn't get much further and your period starts.
If you are sure it's your period then it does sound like a CP sadly... I have had at least 1 (I suspected another couple of times when period later than usual but heavier but hadn't tested so don't know). After initially being devastated about mine - I took heart from it that my body clearly wanted to allow something to implant, so it was just a case of getting that one good egg...
bleeding can happen tho in early pregnancy, so it might not not over yet xx

@Hobbes39 , thank you so much for explaining it in a very simple way! I thought of it along those lines. Well, I haven't had a natural conception before and it was nice to know we got it this time albeit for a short while. Good to know I can get pregnant naturally. But time is not really on our hands, and I'll go for IVF and hoping for the best.
I wish I could hug you all. For all your support! Continuous support!

Russkispy · 21/02/2019 19:33

@Hobbes39 and I'm sorry you had to experience this before! Thanks

KristieP2018 · 21/02/2019 19:38

So sorry @Russkispy. Thinking of you xx

Cleozeta · 21/02/2019 20:39

Russkispy - if the bleeding continues like a period then it may be a chemical. I had one in October, I got bfp when my period was due, then it must have been just under a week later my period came. The disapointment is a hard blow. Hopefully this is not what has happened in your case, but if it is, you are not alone x

Russkispy · 21/02/2019 21:45

Thanks @Cleozeta ! And I'm sorry it happened to you! Not letting this "episode" getting to me/breaking me. It's horrible and hard but must stay resilient and positive. Reflexology is booked on Saturday.

Lexilooo · 21/02/2019 22:22

Sorry things aren't looking good @Russkispy hugs

littlemimosa · 21/02/2019 23:00

Sparrow - I’m so sorry to read your news. I have no words. You must be devastated. We’re all here for you💐

Russ - fingers crossed for you that this isn’t a chemical. Praying it’s not.

Minime - good to hear from you. I’m about where you are in that I’m using up all my supplements with a view to stopping most of them and I haven’t done an opk for months. Just can’t face it. I’m so sorry you’re still struggling too x

Cleo - I really sympathize. I feel I don’t know my body anymore. I have so many small but annoying symptoms and ovulation has long gone. I’m in a strange place with it all. I’m sure deep down now that my fertile days are over. I’m not even 43 yet but hey what can I do. I’ve been contemplating how I’d feel if all hope was completely gone....which I think it is.....not sure of the answer to that yet but I’ll let you know!

Cleozeta · 22/02/2019 00:28

Mimosa - I totally get where you are coming from and its devestating. I think in our 50's we would be prepared and ready for it, but not yet, it's too soon.
But it may not be over yet, there is still hope. Even in perimenopause (if it is that) we can still throw out eggs, even if not as regularly as before. And if you continue to dtd you never know, you may still catch one

Chatbash72 · 22/02/2019 09:24

@Cleozeta and @littlemimosa peri menopause can last a good couple of years but don't think you are classed as peri until you have at least a 6 month absence of af.. so you are not there... while af still arrives there is still lots of hope.. mother nature's way of getting us to have more regular sex in our 40's... 🤣 keeping us on our toes throughout our cycles.. sending lots of positive hugs x

Cleozeta · 22/02/2019 12:10

Chatbash - is that right? My GP told me I was perimenopausal after 1 anovulatory cycle and a few symptoms when I was 40. It was even on my medical notes when I phoned them to tell them I was pregnant last year. I think GP's don't have much of a clue tbh

Chatbash72 · 22/02/2019 14:58

@Cleozeta think your dr is talking bunkum... most peri symptoms can be classed a normal cycle symptoms anyway.. migraine, sore boobs, etc..
but I'm sure each internet sight has diff answers... but not in menopause until 12 missing periods in secession. The sight I was looking at says pregnancy is still an option until the .. peri menopause can be a 4 year process.. don't waste those years... keep getting busy!!

Russkispy · 22/02/2019 18:47

Thank you ladies! Blood tests results came in and it's negative which I've suspected. So this is my AF after all. It's a hard blow I won't lie but good to know that we managed to conceive naturally even if only for a short while. My doc agreed to start stimulation tomorrow. I'm on a short protocol. Reflexology and acupuncture are booked in the meantime. Onwards and upwards! This is not over yet! Thank you so much for all your support!!

Russkispy · 22/02/2019 18:50

I'll catch up on messages properly tonight as had to book scans for IVF, hotels and flights as egg collection and embryo transfer will be abroad (back home)

KristieP2018 · 22/02/2019 19:41

Hugs @Russkispy

Russ sending big hugs. It’s great you got pregnant though and that you’ve got a plan. Thinking of you.

BooseysMom · 24/02/2019 18:52

@Russkispy.. so sorry AF came. You sound like you're bearing up well. Like you say it's great that it can happen naturally! Wishing you lots of luck going forward x

BooseysMom · 24/02/2019 19:45

@Orchid222...hope you're ok. Haven't heard from you for ages, since your holiday I think? x
