Sparrow- hope you’re ok x

Karigan- such great news:)

Hi Ali - so nice to ‘see’ you. How are you doing? My mum was around 50 but she had both her ovaries all her life and I only have one sadly. So I googled to see if it means earlier than normal menopause and yes it does. A woman with only one ovary has 50% less ovarian reserve than normal. It’s obvious really. Don’t know why I was surprised. Still gutted though.

Rose - thanks for understanding. I’m so sorry you feel like this too. I know I sound spoilt (as I have two children) but I feel cheated somehow by nature. We were led to believe that getting pregnant was so easy as young women. I feel like I’ve spent the best part of 15 years wanting a baby and finding it hard to conceive. And here I am at 42 desperately hoping for just one good egg before I fall off the cliff.

Cleo - I had acupuncture today and he says I’m ‘yin deficient’ so he’s mixed me up some new delicious herbs to drink. Actually joking aside it’s much better than last months ‘dead dog’ drink. Do you get a Chinese massage as part of yours? Omg it’s painful but also very good at getting knots out.

hi sparrow
ive name changed again but want to say im here at the end of a pm if you need anything.

tfmr here at 14 weeks. im so sorry youre going through this. when i was going through mine another mn user contacted me by pm to say she was same age and got bad news within days of me. we leaned on each other a bit throughout and it was good not to feel so alone.
anyway - praying for a miracle for you, feel free to chat if it helps xxx

Cleozeta · 20/02/2019 07:58

Karigan - congrats, thats great news!

Mimosa - glad you are still doing the TCM, it does help, and it sounds like they are trying different things for you, which is good. Never had the massage, sounds interesting! What is it supposed to do?

Alibaba2 · 20/02/2019 08:25

Mimosa - I’m doing ok thanks. At 43 now and after nearly 3 years of TTC I’ve pretty much given up hope. Other than hoping for a miracle. My ov is now early most months so cycles are getting even shorter. I do feel sad at times and I think about it most days. And ache massively to hold another newborn baby. But try to tell myself that we’re lucky and I could be dealing with something much worse. Once you hit 40, you start hearing bad news around you. People dealing with terminal cancer, for example. So I count my blessings when I can. But I’m still gutted it hasn’t happened. And worry about how I’ll feel once the hormones really drop as it’s only the hormones making me feel ok a lot of the time. And this isn’t far off. I wish there was a magic pill.

I think you’re doing the right thing having TCM and acu as that can make a big difference.

Here’s hoping for our miracle!

Hi everyone! [wave]

Been a bit of a lurker. Thought I'd finally show my face Grin, hope that's ok.

Met my husband later in life so didn't start ttc until I was 40. Had an early miscarriage in Jan last year but nothing since. Have tried most of the supplements but have realized recently that while I'm not diabetic my blood glucose is in the pre-diabetic category. Think this is partly to do with a supplement I was taking to help with chronic fatigue (haven't really suffered in years but did help to even out my energy levels). It was also basically sugar, so makes sense that it could affect insulin. I have also been a bit of a carb monster over the years and am, not very surprisingly obese Blush overweight.

Having read this article natural-fertility-info.com/insulin-resistance.html I'm cutting back on supplements for now and focusing on losing weight as this looks like (a lot of) extra fat can mess up the hormones even though I seem to ovulating fine. It's coming off, but v e r y slowly which is frustrating. If nothing happens in the next few months (by May?) then we'll probably move to IVF.

@SparrowSG - Will be thinking of you today
@Karigan195 - Congratulations!

KristieP2018 · 20/02/2019 09:45

Hope you’re ok Sparrow

Husband and I are heading back to get his sperm analysis done. Had a small breakdown this morning. We’ve only been at this since June but with my birthday rapidly approaching (will be 43 in April), I feel like time is running out too fast.

Won’t get the results from today for a few weeks apparently so we’ll just keep at it. Trying the sperm meets egg plan this month.

Karigan195 · 20/02/2019 09:48

@SparrowSG. How are you doing today?

minime2017 · 20/02/2019 10:09

Just checking in, again. Lurking always in the background, reading all your stories. Too many to comment on but thinking of you all. Its comforting to be sharing the frustrations and heartache of ttc at 40+, and also uplifting when one of us has positive news to share. More of it please! Afm, its approaching a year since our mc, and with not even a sniff of a bfp since hope is fading. Ive now given up all supplements and all manner of pee sticks. I am going with the flow, what will be will be!

rubyroot · 20/02/2019 11:22

Hope you are okay @SparrowSG - sorry you're going through this. I had a very positive scan at nine weeks and a very poorly baby at 13.5. Awful as you get your hopes up. I really wasn't prepared for the bad news (as if you ever are)

Onlyinanemergency · 20/02/2019 11:23

Did another test this morning and it is a nice dark line. I think I have to step away from the tests for a while because I'm driving myself crazy. I haven't contacted the GP or midwives yet because I'm only 4+2 but not sure when to do it. So anxious about everything because of my age - I feel it's too soon to really consider myself pregnant.

SparrowSG · 20/02/2019 14:16

Hi everyone, thanks for being so kind and supportive.

As I expected the baby had passed away since the last scan, in fact probably quite soon after as it had not grown since that day. I did say to DH that at least we were able to see him/her one last time alive and say goodbye.

Will be in the hospital on Friday to have my medically managed miscarriage (if that's the right term), not something I am looking forward to but preferable to waiting possibly one/two weeks and starting it off at home.

DH is all positive and talking about making a big ttc effort, I'm just hoping to get through this part and not feel so exhausted! Doesn't help that DS has had a cold and now an ear infection and so spent most of last night crying.

This really is a great group and it's very comforting to know we have all been/are all in the same boat.

Karigan great news, hoping you have a stress free rest of your pregnancy.

Onlyinanemergency good idea to step away from the tests I think, being pregnant is stressful enough as it is! My midwife office would not see anyone who was not past 8.5wks, not sure if this is the same everywhere though.

Karigan195 · 20/02/2019 14:23

I’m so sorry Sparrow 💐

rubyroot · 20/02/2019 14:30

@SparrowSG sorry to hear that, it's so hard. Let me know if there's any practical advice I can give you in terms of your medical managed miscarrriage. Been through it so kind of know what to expect- am happy to share my experience if it helps. It does get better I promise x

rubyroot · 20/02/2019 14:34

@SparrowSG when this happened to me I just couldn't think of trying again and my boyfriend was more positive. Fast forward 5 months and 2 proper cycles on (body took three months to get back to normal) and I haven't been able to convince him yet- been practising withdrawal method. We are going to try next cycle though. Time is a great healer, someone said on here when the hope outweighs the fear... is a good time to start trying again.

Realitysucks · 20/02/2019 14:37

Ohh @SparrowSG I’m so sorry for you. I’m in floods of tears reading your message. I will be thinking of you on Friday. X x

@Onlyinanemergency best to stay from all tests! I haven't done one since Monday and heading for HCG and progesterone blood tests on Friday. Been feeling queasy every day. Sleep is bad. I'm very tired and have no energy ☹️
I haven't updated my stats on the list as want to get passed my tests on Friday and Monday first.
