Hello!

I've just turned 24 and me and husband have just started TTC first baby. Thought that it would be good to have a thread going with a few people in a similar situation! Very few of my friends are in the same situation as we got married early and now thinking of babies whilst lots of friends are still at uni :)

Anyone one to join a group discussion with how things are going?

@als2912 👋🏻evening

rosehm · 19/03/2019 11:13

Hi everyone,

I'm 28 and TTC #1, came off dianette pill on 11th March and am feeling anxious as to when AF and O will appear even though it's super early days. You read some scary things about it taking years. Also worried about my hormonal acne coming back in full force. Does anyone else get this?

How long did it take everyone else for AF and ovulation to happen after stopping the pill? And when did you start doing OPKs?

Rosie2531 · 19/03/2019 11:16

@rosehm Hi! :) I've not had af in 4 weeks 😂 not planning on doing OPK's either, so I'm probably not much help. Have had a few faint lines in the past few days though, so maybe my 'not having a plan' plan has worked!

Rosie2531 · 19/03/2019 11:17

Should add that the latest frer definitely has a faint line!

rosehm · 19/03/2019 11:19

@Rosie2531 wow that's exciting. Maybe I need to chill out as well and stop overthinking literally everything. Keep us posted on your faint lines!

Natwal · 19/03/2019 11:34

@ROSEHM Easier said than done though isnt it!

is anyone taking any supplements?

Rosie2531 · 19/03/2019 11:37

@rosehm It's different for everyone and there's no right or wrong way to do things. My DP and I are very much of them 'what's meant to be will be' persuasion and tend to live in the moment. We plan things so much at work (both teachers) that we like to be more chill in our home life.

Actually off on holiday in two weeks last minute! 😂 Stress doesn't help with conception, so go with what will stress you out least x

rosehm · 19/03/2019 11:38

@Natwal ha true! I'm taking supplements from ZitaWest that my friend had left over from TTC. They seem v.expensive though so not sure if I will carry them on. Also my wee looks radioactive all day every day. So maybe they are overkill? Are you taking any? Are you using OPKs?

als2912 · 19/03/2019 11:39

@rosehm hi 😊 I took my last pill in December and AF arrived as normal about 3 weeks after and has been fairly regular since (give or take a couple of days).

I'm totally with you on the hormonal acne, I must admit it has come back a bit but not as bad as when I first went on the pill quite a few years ago. But it's still annoying after hardly having any spots to then have to get used to them appearing again 😂

rosehm · 19/03/2019 11:42

@Rosie2531 good advice. It probably stresses me out the least to feel as though I'm taking control a bit. So I will probably start using every app under the sun and doing OPKs soon. But add a sprinkle of not getting too uptight about it!

Does anyone know if I should be having a go at DH about chewing nicotine gum? He used to be a social smoker and has started chewing the gum recently. Is it really bad for conception? It's annoying me but I don't want to be a total nag!

rosehm · 19/03/2019 11:44

@als2912 how long did it take for the spots to start appearing after stopping? How long have I got?! Good to know it isn't as bad this time around though. Fingers crossed mine isn't either. Have been loving not shovelling concealer on for the last 3 years!

Natwal · 19/03/2019 11:47

@rosehm - ah okay no im not taking anything or using OPKs i was trying to take the easy breezy route like @rosie2531 but its easier said than done and im getting impatient! Im using clue to try and track my ovulation and it seems to be ok maybe i should use OPKs to see if its is accurate!?
I'm only on my 4th cycle and im already bored of waiting!!

als2912 · 19/03/2019 12:47

@rosehm it was just before my first AF started and then dies down a bit inbetween and then I tend to get a few appear again at the start of each AF.

MindyMoonstone · 19/03/2019 13:55

Hi can I join please?

I’m 24 ttc number one and absolutely scouring the forums today because I got a positive on FRER this morning!Shock

Love the idea of keeping in touch with others going through the same though and around the same age Flowers

I have been trying since September and I am INCREDIBLY nervous - AF was due today (wel she always comes on the evening lol) but I just had a feeling ... so I tested this morning with a faint BFP that quickly got very dark!! With AF due date being today I just don’t think I’ll relax until I get to tomorrow and she hasn’t shown. Got everything crossed that it’s a sticky one!!

Sending best wishes and baby luck to you all ladies xx

als2912 · 19/03/2019 14:26

@MindyMoonstone Hi 😊How exciting! fingers crossed for you🤞🏼 I've found these forums really helpful especially at putting your mind at ease that there are plenty of other people in similar situations 😊

Rosie2531 · 19/03/2019 16:32

@MindyMoonstone That's so exciting! Big congrats to you! :)

JadeSB · 19/03/2019 19:22

@MindyMoonstone congratulations! I'm 24 also, and been ttc since September, 5dpo at the mo so send me some of your bfp dust 😂

AllTheGlitter · 19/03/2019 19:43

Hi! I’m 25 and TTC #1. I find at this age there’s not much support people in real life! Hope you all get positives really soon x

Rosie2531 · 19/03/2019 20:06

@AllTheGlitter Completely get that! I feel like everyone is always saying, 'best to wait until the right time and you've lived' etc 🙄 problem is that the majority of folk I know seem to wait till their mid thirties and then have fertility issues. I'd rather know now if I'm going to have issues.

I have a house, fiancé, full time guaranteed job (teacher) and a supportive family - why wouldn't I be ready?

lovesT · 19/03/2019 20:18

I agree @Rosie2531! So many people are waiting until their 30s to have children now and now a lot of people see that as the norm and this age is unusual which is annoying because surely this biologically is a great time? Of course you have to be sensible but I've had that too, 'don't have children I until you've lived and seen the world' but I've been married for three years and have spent two years abroad with my husband and now we both really want children so even if people see us as young at 24, if we're ready we're ready 😊. Can't wait and hope for all of us that it happens soon 😊

als2912 · 19/03/2019 20:21

@AllTheGlitter @Rosie2531 I've had this from people too "oh why now why not wait a few more years?" "Go and travel for a bit first" I'm just like really? I personally feel more than ready so I'm not going to let anyone tell me when I should or shouldn't start ttc! 😂

Rosie2531 · 19/03/2019 20:53

There's also the fact that travel can happen WITH kids! 😂 people act as if kids are these horrific life ending beings! My sister took her kids to Cambodia, Thailand, Florida... everywhere!

It's almost as if 20 something is still considered a young, teenage pregnancy 🙄

MindyMoonstone · 20/03/2019 12:01

Thanks ladies it’s nice to see so many others feeling the same!!

Baby dust to you all and extra special sticky baby dust your way JadeSB!!! Fx for us :)

lovesT · 20/03/2019 17:16

Yes @Rosie2531 definitely! We can't wait to have a little family that might be stressful at times but actually to experience things together will be amazing. All the best to you 😊 looking forward to updates from everyone xx

Rosie2531

Problem is that the majority of folk I know seem to wait till their mid thirties and then have fertility issues. I'd rather know now if I'm going to have issues.

Luckily the people I've told have been lovely and supportive but I feel like I am having issues already.

I'm almost 27 and have been TTC for 9 months with no success - this was after waiting for 3 months because we were getting jobs sorted etc.

DP and I are starting to save for fertility clinics in case NHS are useless if we still haven't conceived at the 1 year mark. I'm already panicking that I've "wasted" a year, I cannot imagine how much worse this would feel if I was going through this in my 30s when time is of the essence - especially as we want more than one kid.
