Here's the new thread. This is a lovely supportive thread for anyone who has suffered the loss of a much wanted baby. Affectionately known as the penguin huddle- this is the place to survive the ups and downs of this crazy journey.

Welcome to any new ladies and sorry for your loss.

Let's have a roll call ladies

@InDreamland @Catconfusion @Beaglemum93 Thanks all. I feel like life is just spent worrying in this TTC process. I am a worrier anyway so this just makes me worse!! xx

@Beaglemum93 my AF isn't due until Friday so a while to go yet. I'm not going to test again until then. Keeping everything crossed for you. Were your tests the other day done with FMU?

Catconfusion · 18/03/2019 08:52

Good morning ladies,

I've contributed a bit to this thread and know some of you from other threads. I just thought I'd update as its looking like we're now in the recurrent category.

So to remind you I had a mmc resolved with ERPC on 4th Feb. Found out last week I'd conceived again without AF after surgery. Started getting very sharp cramps over the weekend so tested yesterday and now my BFP is a very very faint line. My pregnancy symptoms have mostly gone so looking like a very early loss. No bleeding yet but in a lot of pain. The doc is calling me this afternoon so will discuss with her.

We don't have any problems getting pregnant but keeping them seems an issue.

Anyway I'm hoping to add more to this thread as you all seem lovely and I'm feeling a bit lost at the moment!

Xx

Dmr1996 · 18/03/2019 09:26

Hi ladies
Just jumping on the thread if that’s okay

Age:23
TTC: #1 since October 2018 following nexplanon removal
Natural miscarraige at 8 weeks 12/3/19

Very eager to start TTC, it’s been almost a week since the m/c minimal bleeding feel like I don’t want to wait even one cycle have heard so many stories about falling pregnant after m/c with no AF in between. Will also feel disheartened if it doesn’t happen but I can’t think like that.

Also feel like there are lots of friends currently pregnant and so hard to go through this and put on a brave face.

Wish all you ladies the luck on your TTC journey xx

Catconfusion · 18/03/2019 09:34

@dmr1996 I'm so sorry for your loss. I would say if you feel ready try again. A nurse at the hospital said to me, if you feel you could go through another loss as hard as it is, that's the time to try again. I'm not saying it will happen again as its unlikely but anyone trying for a pregnancy has the chance of miscarriage.

I fell pregnant straight after a surgery to resolve a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks without a period. I was amazed at how quickly I ovulated and conceived. Sadly I had another very early loss but many women get pregnant straight away and have a healthy pregnancy. Good luck! xx

Dmr1996 · 18/03/2019 09:38

So sorry to hear of your loss
I know it does sound awful but I’ve got the mind set at the moment of no matter what the situation I’m so determined to have a baby, I had a phone call this morning for a follow up from the hospital, they said to do a HPT 3 weeks after the m/c and if it’s negative they’re happy for me to try again they advise 1 cycle purely for dating purposes!
I have some left over OPKs which I might start to use in a few days, me and my partner have also booked a holiday this weekend to get away and come back with a clear head over what’s happened!
Doing better today than I have done this last week feeling more positive! Xx

Lilimum6 · 18/03/2019 09:49

OK ladies need advice. The af seems to have completely stopped no spotting, no mucky brown stuff nothing not even after going to the loo (tmi sorry) it was very heavy Saturday and medium Sunday but today nothing. I've never had an af this short could this mean problems? After every mc my first af has been heavy clotty and long. This doesn't seem enough bleeding for the thickness of my uterus lining which was 10 mm 10 days ago (had a scan at epu so should have been even thicker by the time af showed up) or am I worried about nothing. Oh ladies I think I'm starting to lose my sanity!!!

Laney79 · 18/03/2019 09:57

@Lilimum6 my AF's have been similar to that since my second loss-but I have found it lulls me into a false sense of security, appearing to stop then all of a sudden more spotting or even a bit more. Does that for several days. I normally have 24-36 hours very heavy then tails off very quickly. Ring Epas though if you are worried lovely xxx

Catconfusion · 18/03/2019 10:04

@dmr1996 doesn't sound awful at all. You'll still grieve for the one you lost but ultimately you're ready for a baby. You're young and healthy so no reason why there's not a strong possibility of that.

The negative HPT is really important so you know its a new pregnancy when you fall and not left over hcg. Call the hospital straight away if you don't get a negative first but other than that I'd say go for it. Good luck! xx

Mistymeow · 18/03/2019 10:13

Sorry you have this worry @Pop1234 and @Beaglemum93 but if you have no cramps or bleeding there is still hope. Even a faint line is a positive test, and the strength can vary depending on how concentrated your urine is. I'll be thinking of you.
@catconfusion I've been concerned about you. How is the pain now? Hopefully the GP will provide some reassurance.
@Dmr1996 sorry for your loss. I also have a few friends who are pregnant. It's such a lonely time but I'm glad you're feeling a bit more positive.
@indreamland Pleased you had a nice break. Really hope your dh sorts himself out soon. Not what you need right now.
@Lilimum6 this happened to me after my ERPC. Really heavy for one day, light the second day and then nothing. Then my cycles changed to really short bleeds for months. I was worried but the GP reassured me it was normal. I did fall pregnant and there wasn't any issues with implantation or my lining. I hope that reassures you but worth speaking to your GP to put your mind at rest.

Catconfusion · 18/03/2019 10:24

@lilimum since I had a stint with the copper coil three years ago my periods have only lasted a day. I fell pregnant and although it ended with mmc lining was not the issue. The pathology report after my ERPC said lining was optimum thickness. My GP isn't concerned about my light periods as feels its enough to sustain a pregnancy.

The mc I've just sustains however straight after ERPC may be a lining issue. I'm waiting for a call from the GP as only just realised its another loss due to very very faint FRER after cramping.

@Mistymeow thank you. I'm doing much the same. If anything the cramping has subsided a bit. The GP is calling at lunch time so we'll see what she says. xx

Catconfusion · 18/03/2019 11:52

I just spoke to my doctor about my early miscarriage after my MMC. She thinks it was a lining issue and my body needs longer to recover. She doesn't think anything wrong with my lining even though my period lasts a day. She's suggested two cycles. It's really upset me because we weren't warned of this. Feel now like it's put us back. My cycles are also long and irregular so could be more like three months until we can try again. I turn 40 in June and just know I'll feel really sad if not pregnant by then.

Anyone know of how I can improve the lining so we can try again sooner?

Xx

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 18/03/2019 13:06

Hello everyone. Sorry as this is about to be a completely selfish post, but I will read trough the thread properly later and reply in more detail. Really just to say I am still here but had a busy week and a week and a weekend away with DH and DD. Was a family party which I was dreading but actually had a good time - older cousins to look after DD so I was able to have a few drinks and relax a bit. Was nice to forget stuff.

Just had my second counselling session and she has gone back to childhood/teen years which at first I thought was irrelevant but actually she has made me start to view why I am so hard on myself.

It will be four weeks since the ectopic on Wednesday and no period as of yet. Desperate for it to arrive as I want to know my body is working!

I am meant to be back at work on Monday but therapist has said I am not ready and she has suggested a phased return. Feeling nervous and guilty about having to ask work. Hopefully will chat to them tomorrow.

Hugs to all. Will read up and report properly soon xxx

Frillyfarmer · 18/03/2019 14:59

@Dmr1996 sorry for your loss, this group is fantastic.

My advice would be not to do OPKs until you have had a negative HPT, as the OPKs will give a continuous positive reading until your HPT comes back negative. I thought I was having a long LH surge but when they tested my HCG levels, it was retained products that hadn't been picked up in the scans. It took almost 6 weeks since MC to get a negative HPT which was such a long and shitty wait. Did they scan for retained products at all?

I found it quite useful to use IC HPTs every 2/3 days so I could see the line getting more and more faint! Hopefully you get your BFN quickly xx

Dmr1996 · 18/03/2019 15:26

@frillyfarmer hi! No they haven’t mentioned another scan, it’s been 6 days I just thought I’d do a HPT just to see, it’s still positive at the moment but I know I need to give my body longer. She said on the phone as I have no heavy bleeding or pain now that it sounds like it’s goinf in the right direction and to do a HPT 3 weeks after miscarraige to confirm if it was complete. I’m worried if I wait the full 3 weeks I’ll miss ovulation this month , it’s so tough, but my partner is really eager to try again after the bleeding stops and so am I. I know we can’t rush these things but I just want it to be over with!
I’m sorry for your loss and how long it went on for, that must’ve been awful xx

Frillyfarmer · 18/03/2019 16:28

@Dmr1996 No I appreciate you don't want to miss anything, all I'm saying is that testing on OPKs when you still have a positive pregnancy test is useless as they will all come back high regardless of whether you're ovulating or not.

If your body still has a level of HCG will it ovulate? It may take a while to get a negative test, I would definitely be calling them back up if you're having a positive test in two weeks because retained products can become infected, mine did.

Dmr1996 · 18/03/2019 17:23

@frillyfarmer oh I see, I think I’m trying to rush the whole thing through too much and I just need to relax and let things happen as they are.
If you don’t mind me asking, did you have any symptoms that there were still retained products? I keep reading so many things that are scaring me but I haven’t had any other symptoms as of yet that are alarming xx

ale2992 · 18/03/2019 17:50

Got a horrible feeling that this isn't my month! Haven't even ovulated yet (I don't think) and just really not feeling positive at all!

Frillyfarmer · 18/03/2019 18:04

@Dmr1996 I didn't have any symptoms of retained products - I am higher risk of ectopic because of my pg history so when I was still getting a strong positive and rising HCG 2 weeks post MC, they scanned again to find retained products, which then caused an infection. I basically spent the last 8 weeks shifting between worrying about an ectopic and then worrying about getting an infection that would make me infertile.

It's horrible and I'm sorry you're going through it - but when you're in this mindset it's important to remember that no good will come from googling stuff because the internet is full of hype of hysteria.

I ordered about 50 one step cheap pg tests from amazon so I could at least feel like I was seeing the tests get lighter and it gave me something to chart. I'm a chronic control freak and a professional analyst so it's been a real shitstorm to have so little control of my life so far this year 😂😂

Dmr1996 · 18/03/2019 19:40

@frillyfarmer I’m sorry to hear about that what you’ve been through
I think I might order those too! It’s so hard not to be in control of these things, I feel the same.
Thank you for all your help xx

Nirupa · 18/03/2019 20:53

Hi ladies, I’m 37.. had my first MMC Last week after I started spotting followed by contractions.
I have been Desperate to have a baby for the last 10 years, in fact I left my husband one night after I could not accept the fact that he did not want kids.
I’m desperate to start trying again but not sure how long to wait after a MC.
Any advice?
I have also done a lot of research and found out that thyroid function has. Lot to do with becoming and staying pregnant. I found many papers saying that if your TSH level is > 2.5 then your chances to conceive decreases and the likelihood of MC is higher.
The normal range for TSH is between 0.4 and 4.. my level was 2,84, so my dr told me this is perfectly fine... however from all the research I have done, I discovered that the normal range for TSH is between 0.1-2.5
My dr did not mention this and only acknowledged after my miscarriage when I asked specifically what my levels where.
Having don’t more research online from woman who have had recurrent MC, I have decided to use natural meds to increase my TSH and get my body ready for the next baby.
Do your own research.. I’m an engineer, not a dr.. but the following homeopathic herbs have been recommended:
Maca gold (only sold in Australia/NZ - I bought it on eBay
Vitamin code prenatals (all natural supplements
The herbs below are also meant to help fertility and tbh I am taking everything I can do I don’t go through this again
Evecare
Vitamin D
Shatravati

I hope that these help done of you.. I know I was lost when I first went through this.’

Also if you ladies could tell me how long you waited TTC after MC?
I want to try right away but maybe it’s worth TTC after my first period?

Catconfusion · 18/03/2019 21:10

@Nirupa welcome to the thread.

My situation might be different to yours but I had an ERPC after my MMC last month. I was told fine to try straight away. I fell pregnant straight away but it's just ended in another early loss. I've been told my lining probably wasn't thick enough to support the embryo. I do however have very light periods anyway so might be to do with it. If you had a natural miscarriage, your lining might not take as long to get back to normal. Tbh after what I've just been through I'd wait for a period. We've now been told to wait two cycles so it's really put us backwards falling quickly and then having another loss. I hope that helps. Good luck! Xx

Bluebelltulip · 18/03/2019 21:31

Welcome and sorry to new people. Today is cd 25 and af is due on Wednesday, I'm normally very regular at a 26 day cycle. Today I've had some light bleeding which I think is too late for implantation but not how af normally starts either so I'm confused. Just going to see what happens. Today is also dd2s due date so worrying about this is not what I wanted today.

Nirupa · 18/03/2019 23:13

@catconfusion
Really sorry to hear about your loss again.
I totally understand how much you (we) just want to get pregnant fast once you are TTC.. but also how hard a loss is.
I am ovulating today and so want to try but think I’m better off waiting for my body to recover before I try again.
It’s frustrating how something so simple and natural is just so difficult... here’s wishing all you ladies good luck TTC...
May we all be blessed with safe pregnancies and beautiful babies soon x

Laney79 · 19/03/2019 06:05

Well that's another month closer to 40 and still not pregnant again. 12dpo today and negative on a frer. Really upset again. I'm petrified we won't fall again after the two losses. Last time we caught on the third cycle post mmc and the two I had were 26 days. This time it took 53 days to get my first period after my loss, then cycles have been 35, 28, 24, and this is currently day 30 for this cycle. Think I'm going to pay for the female hormone check test to try and see what's going on.

Catconfusion · 19/03/2019 08:26

@Nirupa thank you I think in my case I underestimated the impact it had on my body and mind. It was so exciting to see I was ovulating so soon after and we wanted to try. Unfortunately it was too soon and we had another loss. Having that period will let your body regulate itself. Good luck! Xx

@Laney79 I'm so so sorry. You've been through so much and it simply isn't fair how your losses have interfered with your body. I remember you've had testing but would your doctor not do some more hormone checks? Xx

I too feel the clock ticking. I'm 40 in June. As we fell straight after the MMC and had another loss the doctor wants me to wait two cycles so my lining can get back to normal. With my long cycles that could be 3-4 months. I'll be 40 by then. We're gutted and wish we'd waited to have one period after the ERPC. I'm not sure whether to try and get a second opinion as she told me this over the phone so purely speculation that the lining caused the second miscarriage.
