gah no PTs in the local shops!! we don’t have a car to go further afield either so I’ll have to wait til tomorrow afternoon when we get home. AF still not here, so weird. Of course if positive we’ll be over the moon, that’s what’s brought me here but was ideally waiting til may/june time to TTC Smile

zinrepus · 28/03/2019 20:57

Another option is sometimes travel can throw off your cycle... Don't know how far you went for holiday, but it could be impacting things. Keeping fingers crossed for you!

GingerRogers84 · 28/03/2019 21:49

Can I join?
We are looking at June for ttc baby no. 2!
I'm getting so excited but we have a lovely French holiday in June and I want to be able to enjoy the land of wine! WineGrin
I've just started taking folic acid and vit D and am upping my fitness levels. I was a complete sloth during my last pregnancy! So I'm hoping being a bit more proactive now will reap benefits later on.

Yorkshiredolls · 29/03/2019 10:07

mystery solved- AF is here. back to WTT and not feeling so guilty about all the holiday WineGin

mussie · 29/03/2019 12:26

Welcome @GingerRogers84 !

And glad your mystery is solved @Yorkshiredolls - enjoy the wine!

I'm hanging out with my mum this weekend for Mother's Day - lovely to think that in a years time I might be a mother or nearly a mother myself ☺️

RLI1105 · 29/03/2019 12:34

@Yorkshiredolls Definitely get on the wine! Hopefully your next cycle will be more regular!

@mussie I was thinking about Morher's Day too! That being said I had to remind my OH to get his mother a card so who knows if he would remember me!

@GingerRogers84 Welcome! That holiday sounds great! I love France. Enjoy all the wine!

I'm feeling a bit stressed this morning.... My last two cycles I have ovulated late at day 19 and I was preparing for that this cycle. This was going to be the first one we TTC and we were both really excited. I've been using the Clearblue advanced OPK's and they have been low for the past 4 days which would be in keeping with ovulating later on. This morning however I had a big jump in temperature and I think yesterday I had a bit of EWCM. I'm worried I ovulated yesterday and we have missed the boat.
It would be weird for the Clearblue to miss it completely I keep telling myself ( I haven't had a high let alone peak!) but I'm a bit stressed.
My OH has had nororvirus so we have only DTD early this week which would probably not cover us.
I would be gutted to be out already this month without even knowing!

GingerRogers84 · 29/03/2019 14:30

Why is it our bodies go weird when we want them to be normal! My clock work cycle had been odd for the last two. 😑
Hopefully is all regulates before June!
I didn't use ovulation tests last time but I did use prediction apps and they were a bit inaccurate! The month we hit the jackpot we decided not to use the apps and bingo! However that was probably just luck of the draw.

zinrepus · 03/04/2019 15:56

AF running a bit late for me this month. Double-checking Clue, it seems like I've got another day before I need to start fretting. 33 days well within the range of normal, 36 happened once two years ago. I forsee this being more than a bit annoying once we start TTC. Hmm

Vio112 · 03/04/2019 16:16

Hi I'm new, can I join? Smile planning to start ttc for the 1st time in June. Taking folic acid and iron tablets atm. Didn't know about the vitamin D! Is that really important? Blush

mussie · 03/04/2019 19:07

@Vio112 welcome! Vitamin D is mostly important once you're pregnant, but doesn't hurt to start taking it anyway. The main thing is the folic acid.

@zinrepus hope AF doesn't keep you waiting too much longer!

@RLI1105 did you ovulate after all? It's so frustrating when OPKs and temps seem to contradict each other, and you have to wait days to find out what happened 🙃

AF is due either tomorrow or Friday for me. Hoping she arrives as planned 🙏 especially seeing as it's my first time using natural cycles as contraception. I'm really hoping it has worked 🙈

Vio112 · 03/04/2019 19:49

Thanks @mussie!Grin I've made a conscious decision not to use opks/temping. I'm quite a control freak in many aspects of my life Blush and I'm worried I'd psyche myself out of pregnancy. Just going to see what happens. If I had any troubles I would definitely go down that path though! Just using a calender to track my cycle so I have sense of when I'm likely to be fertile. Good luck everyone, can't wait to start trying! Flowers

Vio112 · 03/04/2019 19:50

Not sure why my smilies aren't working!? Oh well, stars are fine I guess ha ha

RLI1105 · 03/04/2019 22:31

@Vio112 Welcome! I agree that folic acid seems to be the most important one when looking online. I've been taking the pregnacare ones and they seem to have everything in them!

So it me getting myself in a state the other day turned out to be for nothing (to answer your question @mussie !) I used the advanced OPK's this cycle and I got a 'high' on cycle day 16 and then my temp dipped again on cycle day 17 and I got 'peak' fertility. I'm now on cycle day 19 and I have had a big jump in temp so my money is on the fact I ovulated yesterday in line with my prediction.... as much as I like taking my temperature to look back over it later, if I wake up and get a temperature I deem to be too high/low for that part of the cycle I can be thinking about it all day!

mussie · 04/04/2019 08:08

@RLI1105 I know what you mean! I had a really weird cycle in November where I had a positive OPK on like the Sunday, then low temps until a high one on Wednesday, massive dip on the Thursday and back up on the Friday. Every day, I was like, what on Earth is actually happening?! Fortunately my other cycles have been more well behaved 😂 been doing it so long now that I have a better sense of whether a temp is reliable. If it's way off where I expect it to be, I just mark it as 'deviating' - it's usually because my sleep pattern was different or I wasn't well or something. Makes for prettier charts 😏

Who else planning to start TTC this spring?
McHelenz · 04/04/2019 09:41

I have stopped temping. It was stressing me out before I've even started! I do get positive OPKs though so I will just use them.

Diet lasted a week 🙈🙈. However I am on track to clear my debts this month so May here we come!

Vio112 · 04/04/2019 14:04

Has anyone thought about having to give up coffee and wine? 😑 And how to hide giving them up? I'm def known to my family as someone who enjoys a big mug of coffee in the morning and a large glass of wine in the evening. I think it's going to be really obvious once I stop having them 😂

mussie · 04/04/2019 15:58

@Vio112 the no wine can be 'a new diet'? I drank a lot less when I did weight watchers! And you can drink coffee while pregnant! As long as it's not more than 200mg of caffeine a day. You could always do decaf if you're worried about caffeine? As long as they don't see you make it/hear you order it 😂

Vio112 · 04/04/2019 16:12

@mussie I'm a teeny tiny size 4-6 in clothes so I think they'll be seriously worried about me if I say I'm dieting 😂 good idea re decaf though! My sisters are the same build as me (petite and slim) and they went practically spherical when they were pregnant 😂😂 normal/biggish size babies growing in a tiny body. Yowch. 😳

zinrepus · 04/04/2019 17:13

@Vio112 You could say you've noticed it giving your worse hangovers lately, so you're taking a break (or some kind of line).

AF seems to be coming on today, so Shark Week is on at last! 33 days...which I upon reflection seems to be my standard travel-based cycle adjustments.

I'm nerding out some and am putting together a "TTC prep" book order. Does anyone have any they'd recommend? I'm thinking about getting The Baby Making Bible (Emma Cannon), Taking Charge of Your Fertility (Toni Weschler), and The Impatient Woman's Guide to Getting Pregnant (Jean M Twenge). But it also feels like that might be a bit overly keen...also don't want the MIL to catch sight! Wink

McHelenz · 04/04/2019 18:31

Im not giving anything up. I think come May I may try to reduce my caffeine but I don't see the point in having zero things I enjoy. I've got 9 months coming up with no booze, caffeine or hot baths!!!

mussie · 05/04/2019 07:54

@Vio112 ah yes the diet option definitely wouldn't work then 😂 money saving maybe?! Coke is certainly cheaper than wine.

@zinrepus I have read no books, I didn't even think about it. And I love books! I think I thought I didn't want them lying around the house, but duh I have a kindle 🙄 let me know what you think of them. I'm actually reading a book at the mo called 'why love matters - how affection shapes a baby's brain' and it is purely fascinating. All about how you treat a baby, affects their personality and how they deal with stress for the rest of their lives! I can highly recommend it.

GingerRogers84 · 05/04/2019 17:07

All I'm doing prep wise is trying to get a bit fitter and taking pre-natal supplements. I will probably not have as much booze or coffee during the tww though.

Vio112 · 05/04/2019 17:47

I'm rubbish at remembering to take the supplements 🙄 I thought I should try and make it a routine to have them with dinner so I keep them on the dining table. And I still forget!

zinrepus · 09/04/2019 10:55

My Impatient Woman's Guide came in yesterday and it will be living in my bedroom (can't leave it out for guests to see! Wink).

Yesterday I did leg day, today DH and I went for a run. Hopefully we'll keep each other accountable! Trying to find a routine that I actually like after several different approaches...

McHelenz · 09/04/2019 11:12

Well done! I've just started AF. I'm trying to build up the confidence to ask OH if we can start trying after this period...
