Hi both ☺️ I know what you mean @Newhere555 , when I told my sister how short the window was, she absolutely did not believe me. She thinks I have been conned 😂 I think what you're taught in school, that you can get pregnant at ANY TIME, is really deeply ingrained! I expect she'll only believe me when she gets to TTC herself.

@Yorkshiredolls hopefully this means you're due an easy baby this time round 😏 I know, I think winter birthdays must be difficult as well - hard to get out and about with a new baby when it's so cold and dark.

My last three temps have been rejected by NC as being too high! I think I'm coming down with something! 🤒

fancyfuchsia · 02/03/2019 17:58

Hi all!

This is my first ever post on Mumsnet! I've been lurking on here for a while now as DH and I have been equally broody for about 4 years! Planning on TTC for first time in May and am thrilled to have spotted a thread I can be a part of!!! I'm still in my early twenties so it's taken a few years to get settled financially but we are so close now and I am super excited to start our journey!

mussie · 02/03/2019 20:26

@fancyfuchsia congrats on your first MN post! Glad you joined us 😊 and hopefully youth will make you lucky on the TTC front!

fancyfuchsia · 02/03/2019 21:06

Thanks @mussie! I hope so.. it seems like everybody I know who has tried for a baby has had serious struggles with infertility so I'm certainly not going into this naively. I'm so sorry to hear about what you have been going through recently and I hope you aren't feeling too poorly after your high temps Flowers. I have been using NC for a good old while now, I love it too as it has helped me to be much more in tune with my body (and my mind!)

RLI1105 · 02/03/2019 23:35

I've been away for a little bit but I've been reading all your messages, welcome to the new people!

@Yorkshiredolls I am the same - babies, babies, babies! I keep an volunteering to look after my nephew (he's 10 months old) to hopefully get me in the swing of it! A 4 year age gap will be nice. Were you okay conceiving the first time?

@Newhere555 I'm on my first cycle tracking BBT now - did you see obvious patterns straight away or is it only the second cycle you have noticed more? I'm trying not to get too obsessed by it but it's hard!

@fancyfuchsia welcome! GrinI was going to say I was in my early twenties too but then realised I'm 25 - closer to 26 - and over the hill!

I stopped taking my mini pill at the end of December, had a withdrawal
Bleed two weeks later and then my first period started on the 15th of February. This is my first month fully
tracking using the Ovia app, BBT and OPK's. My last "cycle" (from first bleed to second) was 32 days. I'm currently on cycle day 16th and apparently should be ovulating on Monday. All the OPK's have been negative and no sign yet of EWCM... I'm desperate to have one trackable straight forward cycle so I know where I am. I'm just hoping to pill hasn't skewed me too much. Confused

Yorkshiredolls · 03/03/2019 06:34

@RLI DD was conceived very quickly, in the first month of ttc in fact. We were very surprised, we thought we would be in it for the long hall as id had a scan 6 months previous which indicated polycystic ovaries.. I don’t think I have full blown PCOS per se as Ive got a healthy BMI and my cycles are pretty regular they’re just quite long and I get a lot of mid cycle spotting, which led me to get the scan in the first place. interestlying when i did conceive I had several days of implantation bleeding and i had several bleeds throughout pregnancy too. which were terrifying at the time but all was well in the end. I hope that’s reassuring for some to hear anyway x

McHelenz · 03/03/2019 07:50

@RLI I've been the same with symptom spotting. TMI but Prior to temping and OPKs I had loads of ewcm for almost a week to the point I thought I'd wet myself 🙈. This cycle nothing for ages then I had an evening and day of horrific cramps, then the ewcm, then a positive OPK.

If all cycles can follow that pattern now that'd be great 😂

RLI1105 · 03/03/2019 12:01

@Yorkshiredolls From speaking to people I think some form of bleeding in pregnancy is super common.... even knowing that they you would still be really stressed! Hopefully you'll conceive again just as easily!

@McHelenz That it a great pattern!!! Fingers crossed it stays like that! I'm going to start doing OPK's twice daily now and try and catch it. I know it's not the end of the world if I miss it and if I keep up with temps etc then maybe I can look back over and see a pattern.

Before I went on the pill I had really regular cycles and I just don't want to be heading into TTC not knowing up from down...ConfusedI think you just read so much into it. My fiancé is very optimistic, everytime I mention it he's like "it'll be fine" 😂

McHelenz · 03/03/2019 12:07

@rli I took myself off contraception because I felt it was contributing to my mental health and I've been off about 3 years. I'm now pretty regular and think it got that way after a couple of month's.

I've only done one OPK a day, mainly because I'm a cheap skate haha. I bought the expensive ones just to see that little face hahaha

deathbycats · 03/03/2019 22:55

I always found that hormonal contraception messed with my mental health - on both Microgynon before I had DS and on the mini pill and with the implant before DD. I had a copper iud after she was born and it was better but since having it out I feel so much less stressy and irritable and apparently copper toxicity can occur in some women - which I think happened to me.

I’ve been trying out OPKs. I’m feeling tentatively optimistic because today’s test line was stronger than Fridays (not a positive but moving in the right direction surely??). I’ve also noticed the start of watery/verging on stretchy cm in small does and my cervix seems to be getting higher. I might still ovulate yet!

McHelenz · 04/03/2019 17:17

I'm starting to do some crafting for my sister in law's baby thats due in August. Makes me excited that soon I can make things for ours 💓

deathbycats · 04/03/2019 17:38

Oh yes McHelenz. I'm knitting myself a pair of socks at the moment and I so wish I could start on some wee cardigans and hats or a blanket or something. I knit for my friends' babies but I wish I could knit for one of my own - I only learned knitting and crochet since I was pregnant with DC2.

McHelenz · 04/03/2019 18:02

I'm trying to learn to knit but Im currently crocheting a blanket. I bought this book which is lovely.

Who else planning to start TTC this spring?
mussie · 04/03/2019 18:27

@McHelenz that is so adorable! Oh I want to buy it right now but DH would definitely judge me 😂

RLI1105 · 07/03/2019 03:24

@McHelenz Those Boots are adorable! I wish I could knit or crochet!

Despite being down about it the other day, I think I ovulated maybe yesterday or the day before.... I finally got some EWCM (not much I have to say), and I got a positive OPK on Friday evening. I dipped with two different tests and one was positive and one was negative (although there was still a half decent line..) so I don't know whether to get too excited. My temperature jumped up today too but again as I work shifts it could be a fluke... I'm going to wait until I get my period and assess my entire chart this cycle.
Now I'll be fixated on whether or not my leutal phase is long enough for implantation to occur further down the line..... there's always the next phase to fixate on! 🙈

Yorkshiredolls · 10/03/2019 15:15

hello how is everybody?

Took one step closer to the ttc process this weekend, feels like our life is moving forwards in an excreting direction. We had a lovely birthday night away in a hotel kid-free with lots of gorgeous food and booze and we agreed to start trying beginnaing of May ☺️ We also looked at a new build show-home which were looking at buying towards June time which was lovely and also a friend of my DH announced she’s expecting again too, exciting stuff!

So we picked up a couple of packets of seven seas trying for a baby which I’m going to start taking today to get it in my system (it was £2.99 a pack in savers - much cheaper than boots!)

This time next year I might have a 3.5 year old and a newborn eek!

mussie · 10/03/2019 16:45

@Yorkshiredolls ooh that's so exciting! I know it's crazy to think where we'll all be this time next year. 2020 is a good year to have a baby, nice round number 😂 and a house move in early pregnancy could be tricky! But I suppose much easier than moving when heavily pregnant or with a tiny baby 😅

zinrepus · 11/03/2019 15:22

Hello folks! I've posted a few times on MN, but this is my first foray into baby-specific forums. DH and I aren't looking to TTC in the spring, but if we get our acts together we may be looking at autumn this year. I'm jumping on this thread as there doesn't seem to be another waiting thread that's active ATM. Smile

I've always wanted kids, but my brain had mellowed out about wanting them imminently, but the week I turned 30 I got hit with some serios baby craze (and it's been almost 5 months now). We're in the south with plans to move to Scotland, which I'd rather do before TTC but I'm pretty anxious to get moving!

How's everyone else doing with the wait?

mussie · 11/03/2019 18:53

@zinrepus welcome! The more the merrier. And so exciting! I can recommend Edinburgh very highly 😁 I moved here from London ten years ago. Are you planning to track your cycle or anything before you get started? I'm doing ok - keeping busy at work, and getting back into cooking! If anyone has any family favourite recipes, do share - I'm wanting to get out of the rut I'm in. I made a paella for the first time ever last week and it was DELICIOUS, no idea why I'd never tried it before 😋

lewk · 12/03/2019 09:27

Nice to see some more people! Loving the crochet too - going to try to learn to knit some baby blankets or something once I'm actually pregnant! I've been tracking my cycle for past few months and have always had a good four-day period but my last one was a very light two-day one? Cycle length etc was all otherwise normal. I'm next due on in a few days so going to see what this one is like, but it worried me a bit. Also suffering with hormonal spots since coming off the pill EnvyHow's everyone else getting on with tracking their cycles?

mussie · 12/03/2019 10:01

@lewk you're not pregnant are you? 😉 I'm just jealous - AF for me is always at least 6 days. I would love a 4 day period. It'll be interesting to see what your next one does - maybe it was stress?

McHelenz · 12/03/2019 10:04

I'm due on tomorrow. Weirdly I like counting down cycles because it seems better than months 😂. One more after this one until we can try 😊

zinrepus · 12/03/2019 11:45

@mussie Edinburgh is our planned destination! It's my favourite city, I've lived there for about a year and a half; add onto it that's where DH and I got together and that solidified things!

I did a run with Natural Cycles when I got off the Mirena a few years back, before I got my copper coil installed, but I've been keeping up with Clue for the past few years. Fairly consistent 28 day cycle with an equally consistent 32-36 day cycle 3 times a year or so. Hmm

I would love to get in on TTC crafting when the time comes, probably a more enjoyable way to get through the TWW!

McHelenz · 12/03/2019 12:19

The crafting is keeping me occupied!

IndiaNoah · 12/03/2019 17:08

Hi All Smile

First every post on this and wondering if I can join you all with the TTC - please bare with me I'm not used to these abbreviations yet haha!!

Bit of background, I'm 27, my OH has 2 kids I have 0. I have been on Roaccutane for acne but stopped about 2 weeks ago. Waiting minimum of a month for that to get out my system and then will be coming off the pill at the end of this month. Aiming to start TTC May time. Have started Folic acid and regular exercise and healthy diet.

Scared and nervous but excited to get started!
