IndiaNoah welcome! Sounds like you've got loads of plans to prepare TTC - hope all goes well coming off Roaccutane. I don't think so Mussie but we'll see what happens in a couple days, I do realise I'm lucky with my lighter than average periods!

Kam610 · 17/03/2019 21:32

I've been directed onto the this thread by @mussie - thank you for putting me in the right direction 😊

Hi ladies! So lovely to read all your stories and know I'm not the only one who's ready to get going with TTC 😁 I'm 27 and recently married in Oct last year. My DH and I are going on a big holiday at end of June, then will be ready to TTC! I'm going to stop taking my pill at the end of this packet so I can get an idea of what my cycles are like! I've been on the pill for a very long time so have no idea what to expect! When would you all suggest to start taking supplements?

RLI1105 · 17/03/2019 22:15

Hello to all the new folk!

@Kam610 Welcome! I started taking the vitamins the first day I stopped taking my pill. I read that you should be taking them (folic acid minimum) for 3 months prior to get them in your system properly. Where abouts are you going on your big holiday? I'm sure that will be amazing!

@IndiaNoah Welcome to you too! It sounds like you're off to a good start already! I have to warn you, my skin went absolutely haywire the first cycle I was off the pill! The last two though have been absolutely fine! You're right, it is such an exciting time!

@McHelenz How are you getting on? Did AF come as predicted?

@lewk I had an absolutely mental hormonal breakout to begin with! It was like having a chin on top of a chin! Fortunately the latest cycle spared me! Prior to being on the pill my periods were always 7 days long. So far they've been about 5 or 6. Do you know when you've ovulating?

@mussie My friend has gone away to South America for 4 months and left me with food that she didn't want including a Just-Rol puff pastry, which I have never used! I literally put it on a tray and chucked on some pesto, tomatoes, peppers, olives and fresh basil and chucked it in the oven for 20
Minutes. It was delicious and so quick!

I'm currently on cycle day 2 and the cramps are killing me! This my second period (third bleed if you include withdrawal bleed) and it's definitely been the sorest/heaviest.
The last cycle I temped and took OPK's and I think I have an idea of what's going on.
On the one hand things seem to have settled pretty quickly after the pill
Which is great. The only thing that is stressing me out slightly is my luteal
Phase. My cycle lengths have been normal (31, 29) but I ovulate late and each month the luteal phase has only been 10 days which I worry won't be enough to sustain a pregnancy.
I guess there's only one way to find out and we're going to start trying this month so time will tell! In one way at least I know what the situation is but on the other hand I feel like there's a hurdle already.... Confused

(This has been very long - kudos if you made it all the way through!)

So on the fitness front- I took up running in October and it’s getting quite serious, I joined a local club and I’m loving it. we’re getting into 10k season and people are starting to ask me if i’ve signed up for any and I’d love to tick it off my bucket list. But looking into the dates for the next few in my area they’re all in July and August and so I might, with a bit of luck, be a bit pregnant by then 🙈 what would you do?

Kam610 · 18/03/2019 07:15

@RLI1105 thank you for replying! We are going to explore the east coast of Canada and the Rockies, so excited!
Ah that's perfect, I will pick up some vitamins this week and get started with them! Only one more pill left to take now 🙈

Good luck with TTC this month 🤞

McHelenz · 18/03/2019 07:54

@RLI1105 yep been and gone!

I'm temping at a regular time and it looks better than last month. Do you use fertility friend? I've found even though it's a pretty ugly interface it seems the best. It's put me at ease about my cycles and luteal phase - it basically says if it's long enough etc.

zinrepus · 18/03/2019 09:29

@Yorkshiredolls It kind of depends when you're starting trying seriously. The guides seem to advise staying consistent with your exercise: if you've been running, you should be okay during the first trimester to keep running (with the caviat of you have to listen to your body). If you're only running 5k and the 10k would be a big stretch, probably not the best time to go for it, but if you're doing 10k stints regularly it shouldn't be an issue early on.

If it were me, I'd sign up for a July run, because as we all know, it can take months before you get pregnant anyway...best case scenario and you get the BFP this month, you'd only just be in the second trimester...worst case scenario, you find yourself having issues leading up to it and you'd be down the registration fee...

mussie · 18/03/2019 16:02

@RLI1105 oh my word that sounds SO DELICIOUS. Puff pastry is going on my shopping list immediately. And my luteal phase is 10/11 days too - I think it's quite common. I've had an early miscarriage and now the ectopic though so maybe I'm not the best person to ask! The miscarriage, it obviously managed to implant in the uterus at the right time, so I don't think it's a problem ☺️ I think as the most common day to implant is 9dpo, if you get shorter than 10 days you have trouble? That's what I'd thought. Congrats on starting to TTC! So exciting!!

@Yorkshiredolls I would sign up for it. Then it's either a nice thing to distract you from not being pregnant yet, or it's something you can do while you're pregnant, or you have to cancel because you're pregnant and unwell and lose the registration fee - but I'd be happy to lose a registration fee if I could be pregnant in return 😂 unless it was a huge fee!

Yorkshiredolls · 18/03/2019 17:40

I think you’re right about the July 10k, it’s the Leeds one and if we start ttc in May the very most i’d be is 8weeks if i wa lucky enough. and you’re totally right, something to distract me!!

McHelenz · 18/03/2019 17:54

I think deffo do the run. If you don't you'll kick yourself if you're not pregnant.

We've now got another close friend whose wife is pregnant. I keep balancing between being really excited that we may have lots of kids for our potential child to be around, to being jealous it's not me. I'm horrible 😔 and impatient. However my credit card will be cleared this month then there's nothing holding us back.

Just finishing off my sister in law's baby blanket. Hoping to perfect the baby crafts!

RLI1105 · 18/03/2019 21:02

@Yorkshiredolls basically everything @zinrepus said! If these forums have taught me anything is that TTC can be really unpredictable. It'll give you something to focus on and exercising is great for getting your body ready anyway! I cannot run the length of myself so I am very impressed!

@McHelenz I have been using OvIa since I came off birthday control and while I like it, they want the temperature in Fahrenheit which involves me flapping about first thing trying to convert it! Although I'm only on day 3 I have put into fertility friend as well this month to see. Their graphs look the best I think, very clear.

@Kam610 What an amazing holiday! I've only ever heard great things about Canada - you'll have the best time!

@mussie The information out there is so contradictory! The majority of what I read was 10 days is borderline but can be okay. We'll just have to see. I'm really sorry to hear about your ectopic and miscarriage. SadAll the luck to you this time round! Thanks

I'm off work this week as it my hen do at the weekend! My day has been a tale of two halves.....
First half involved me getting my eyebrows done (horribly overdue) and then to get a manicure. I work as a nurse so that's a total treat! I then thought I would build on my good day by getting a vegetable samosa for lunch from my favourite fruit and veg shop.
Second half of the day: food poisoning central.
I have to drive 4.5 hours tomorrow so I'm praying for a miraculous recovery! I feel better than before so that's good at least..... dreadful!

mussie · 18/03/2019 21:44

@RLI1105 oh dear, hope you feel better soon! And I can't have painted nails for work either, I used to love a manicure, but now I'm so used to bare nails. Whenever I paint them I feel like a child playing dress up 😂 also, you don't need to put your temps in Fahrenheit! Just change to Celsius in settings ☺️

Who else planning to start TTC this spring?
McHelenz · 18/03/2019 22:37

@rli1105 I found the conversion was way off! I was using 4 apps last month 😂😂

RLI1105 · 19/03/2019 22:12

@mussie You have no idea how much you have improved my life! 😂 I changed it last night and was excited for an easier chart this morning but I had a really unsettled night (shivery, broken sleep courtesy of my bug) and my temperature this morning was way off so I didn't include it. It's by my bed now ready for tomorrow. 👍

mussie · 20/03/2019 07:30

@RLI1105 glad to be of service!

McHelenz · 20/03/2019 11:59

So I logged some food on my fitness Pal for the first time in I'd say almost a year. I might brave weighing myself next week. Getting closer to being able to TTC and my weight is a huge issue so hopefully this will help!

lewk · 20/03/2019 20:05

Well done those that are doing some fitness stuff, very disciplined of you!!

I took a pregnancy test today as I'm a week late for my period, thought I might have accidentally conceived (waiting until May so I get maternity pay) and surprised myself at being disappointed when it was a BFN even though I knew it probably would be! Just hope this cycle sorts itself out now :S

zinrepus · 21/03/2019 14:06

I've got an appointment on Monday for my other half and myself to have a pre-TTC check. I'm in a similar boat as you @McHelenz, my weight is going to be the tricky one for me I suspect, hoping to get some guidance from my GP as to realistic goals for myself. Something to work on while waiting for the move!

RLI1105 · 21/03/2019 22:18

@lewk It's funny how that disappointment hits you! A couple of weeks after I came off the pill I took a test as I thought I felt different and although I was thinking "this would not be a good time with wedding/work/hen do/ general life, I still felt a pang of disappointment. How's your cycle getting on

@zinrepus Good for you booking the appointment! I have to admit I'm too much of a coward! I hope it goes okay!

Despite being only on cycle day 6 and planning on trying to TTC this month, I feel like I can already just count myself out. I'm in the process of pulling my wedding together and the stress I am currently feeling I just know will not be conducive to falling pregnant.
My hen do is this weekend and the hen doing the food for both nights has pulled out due to sickness which has left a lot of scrambling (and I'm really sad she won't be there.)
I went to give notice today and the registrar casually informed me that the fire regulations had changed so I won't be able to fit in all our guest for the ceremony. Invitations have been sent so we're basically going to have to disinvite people. It'll only be for the ceremony (which will be very short) but I'm mortified.
This is all happening while my mum is going through a bad divorce which is really effecting my younger sister.
Oh. And my other half's dad is moving in with us in two weeks as his marriage has also broken down and he is moving back from far away. It's supposed to be a short term thing but it's not ideal....
So yeah, not ideal baby making conditions!

zinrepus · 26/03/2019 11:33

Had my appointment yesterday: GP, DH, and I all just having a chat about what to know about TTC. I've been getting anxious lately because I know we're still in a holding pattern and feel like I should be doing more. My GP was fab though! Told me that yes, I can lose some weight, but not to take the BMI recommendations as gospel. Some reminders about food generally, some specific exercise recommendations, and guidelines for when we're ready to go, what to expect in terms of weight during pregnancy, etc.

I also got to witness the hilarious conversation of my husband asking if he can do anything to improve his swimmers, to which the doctor basically said, "Your job is to make the delivery. Everything past that is support." Grin

His main final point was to not get overly stressed about it. Read some, research some, but at the end of the day, do whatever comes naturally to you. Which...kind of dumb, but it was nice to hear a medical doctor remind me to mellow out about everything.

That said, I'm sure I will not even a little bit feel that way when we actually start, but the reminder is always helpful!

mussie · 26/03/2019 17:28

@zinrepus that's so reassuring to hear. Glad it was a good appointment.

Yorkshiredolls · 28/03/2019 07:13

Anybody taking seven seas trying for a baby.. have you noticed any change in your cycles? it may just be coincidence but i’ve been taking then for about 2-3 weeks now and my period is now 4-5 days late. It’s now CD36 and period still not here. a little bit of spotting here and there. We’re on holiday in cornwall til friday and i just want it to come now. not taken a test I was just thinking each day oh today it’ll come. v. v. unlikely I’m pregnant. we have had unprotected sex but that was only 4 days ago when my period was due and spotting had started but other than that been very safe as not starting ttc til may. only thing i can think is it’s these vitamins!

Yorkshiredolls · 28/03/2019 09:14

well DH has rememinded me a couple of weeks ago there was a bit of fooling around before putting on some
protection . Oh bloody hell im going to have to go to the village shop and buy an overpriced pregnancy test before I can resume the holiday drinking again aren’t I🤦‍♀️

lewk · 28/03/2019 17:50

Yorkshiredolls best to take a test to put your mind at rest! I just went through the same thing last week, did a test on CD 35 which was negative and AF finally came on CD 40. No idea what the random long cycle was about. Maybe yours is the same? Hope you get the result you want!

mussie · 28/03/2019 18:31

Hope you get the result you want @Yorkshiredolls !
