That’s amazing @hobbes39!!

SparrowSG · 13/02/2019 10:41

Congratulations Hobbes wishing you a smooth pregnancy Smile

Thanks for asking coppercolouredtop, I am off for my NHS 12 week scan in a short while. To be honest I have lost hope in a positive result. I have had this empty feeling inside since the beginning of last week and I think maybe the baby did not make it. I will tell the scanning person about my high risk result before they start, but I am fully expecting to hear bad news.

Reality For my first IVF round I was on long protocol and high dosage, second was short and low. The first I got more eggs (7 I think), but only three made it to day 5, but I did get lucky and have my gorgeous DS. Second round, as I said, only 2. Dr said that he thinks I responded better to long protocol and therefore if I was to go again he would do the same as that time. Keeping everything crossed for your next scan xx

Chatbash72 · 13/02/2019 12:25

Congratulations @Hobbes39
Keeping my fingers crossed for you @SparrowSG
Think I'm in for major hormones migraine yesterday and a bit of pink ewcm.. headspace isn't fab.. sofa and some binge watching is in order
Sending lots of love ladies

Russkispy · 13/02/2019 12:25

@Hobbes39 wow! Congratulations!
CD32 today and still no AF and tested BFN this morning. Last night was feeling a bit sick and this morning passed. My doctor suggested a scan to check ovaries for cysts etc Booked for Friday unless AF arrives between now and then. Hmm

forestafantastica · 13/02/2019 13:10

Hello ladies. I wondered if I could join you. I'm 40, turning 41 next week, just started trying for my first. I know it's late to try for a first, but life reasons didn't really make it possible until now.

Realitysucks · 13/02/2019 13:35

@Hobbes39 OMG that’s brilliant news 🤣🤣🤣🤣 😱 on the being shocked! I am a really thrilled for you!! That has cheered me up no end now!

Lexilooo · 13/02/2019 13:40

Wow Hobbes what lovely news - congratulations!

Sorry not really able to follow the IVF chat hence I have been quiet.

I think ovulation may be later than I thought this month so may have concentrated efforts too early this month. DH hasn't been very well so we missed most of the week my app suggested was fertile week. Managed to DTD earlier and as last month was a slightly shorter cycle I thought that might be ok but got fertile mucus last night. Need to DTD tonight, but conscious of "pressuring him".

Think I might try OPKs next month if we don't get lucky this month. I feel it might help time things a bit

Hobbes39 · 13/02/2019 13:56

Thanks all - I'm totally shocked as this is our 7th transfer and after everything we've been thru I ant actually believe that one has stuck and looks good, let alone 2! I've been signed off from the IVF clinic and am just like any other pregnant person now - albeit an old one! I've now had to make booking appt with midwife, 12w scan appointment (right around my 42nd bday 🙈) and appointment at the 'twin clinic'.
I just can't believe it's real and I'm terrified tbh. I'm still scared of things going wrong and that the twin aspect makes it more risky.. Confused
Does explain the all day queasiness from v early on tho..
my DH is delighted as he's always wanted 3, in just scared shitless that they won't make it... but delighted too obv.
It's going to be a long 5 weeks til my 12 week scan 🙈

CritterTamer · 13/02/2019 14:59

@Awesome news @Hobbes39 - so lovely after going through 7 transfers too. I have to say it..... I told you so! 😁 Welcome to the twins club!

coppercolouredtop · 13/02/2019 15:03

Hi everyone

Hobbes that's brilliant news!! Congratulations!Thanks

sparrow wishing you the very best of luck for the scan . I've been where you are and I know how that feels , everything is crossed for you x

Well just got up off nights and got a flashy smiley so high fertility....dtd yesterday (twiceBlush) but his nibbs is out for a bike ride today and I'm on nights again tonight.

Will test again tomorrow. Hopefully see static smiley soon. Then he can get ready GrinGrinWink

Valentines tomorrow and got a big night out planned. Let's hope it clashes with a static smiley and some luck!!

I just want one more go. It appears that it's a big ask.

Hobbes39 · 13/02/2019 15:21

Thanks @CritterTamer - you did!
I'm so scared... you seemed so calm about the twins aspect - I was a blubbering mess in our scan! I couldn't actually believe they both were a good size and had heartbeats...! If I'm totally honest the numbers did make me wonder if both had implanted, but I'd never have thought both would make it this far. My mind is totally blown! How did/ do you stay calm about the additional risks? I'm scared we will lose one at some point... 😞 I just don't want to get too attached to the idea...

Karigan195 · 13/02/2019 15:29

Congratulations Hobbes :)

Cleozeta · 13/02/2019 16:51

OMG hobbes - congratulations!! That's amazing! Grin

Massive congratulations @Hobbes39 !!! This is brilliant news Smile. I know it's difficult not to worry but enjoy this one thought "today, I am pregnant with twins ". Wishing you all the best.

Loving the twin pregnancies coming through on our thread.

Positive energy ladies.

Snowie3 · 13/02/2019 17:30

Congrats Hobbes!!

Such lovely news xx

Realitysucks · 13/02/2019 18:14

@Hobbes39 I’m sat on the trian laughing and crying at your post ! ( I’m an emotional mess!) and breath lol ! Just go with the flow, and get though the next 5 weeks! Lots of calming and breathing ( not that I’m in for all that but its all I x can suggest 🤣🤣🤣) I would be feeling the same as you ! Just enjoy it x x

Hobbes39 · 13/02/2019 18:26

Haha! @Realitysucks - your reaction sounds similar to mine...Been either crying or laughing half the day! You are right - I just need to breathe and take each day as it comes. I'm going out with friend for dinner this eve and feel like I'm going to be sat there looking like some crazy person as I'm a bit dazed by it all, but can't tell them yet 🙈
Thank you all so much for your kind messages, you have all be so supportive - it really helps - only approx 30weeks to go 🤞!
Hope your follicles are growing nicely reality - keep us posted about Friday x

Rose68 · 13/02/2019 18:46

Booseys- Traditional Chinese Medicine. Herbs (made into a ‘yummy’ tea that Cleo and I drink) and acupuncture.

barnburntdown · 13/02/2019 22:32

Hi everyone & congrats Hobbes!

I'm currently surfing the crimson wave and feeling very sorry for myself.

Stats
Age 41 , ttc# 3 , 3 cycles. Using opks.

What are people's favourite fertility maximising strategies? Are many of you on vitamin B ? What are your tips. I spent cd1-9 googling tips cd9-16 shagging , CD 16-28 googling symptoms. And cd1-3 moaning.

Cleozeta · 14/02/2019 08:02

Welcome barnburntdown, I take vit B6, it's supposed to help lengthen LP, not worked yet though. Might try B complex next month. My cd's are spent using a similar pattern to yours, thats been my last 2 years!

Hope everyone is doing ok today.

So, today is my birthday. 42. Dreading all the 'happy birthdays'. This is not a happy birthday. There is no such thing as a happy birthday when ttc in your 40's aa every year that flies by is another mile shoved away from the dream. Another chance gone. Another finger off the fertility cliff edge, until you finally fall off and hit tge menopausal floor with a splat.
So it's won't be a happy birthday, I can't tell anyone this except you lovely lot, as I know you'll understand.

Birthday comiserations welcome Wink

Hobbes39 · 14/02/2019 08:32

Oh @Cleozeta - I do know how you feel - Happy shitty Birthday tho! Wine
Unlike most people I know, I didn't have a big party for my 40th as I was utterly depressed about it tbh as if you are battling against the downward march of fertility then the months go by waaay to quick and the years do feel like a kick in the teeth. I was out with 4 friends last night - mum friends of kids the same age as my DS (all have younger kids too) and One mentions it was her bday soon and I realised that I didn't actually know how old she was so asked - 35. She then asked me and (quite flatteringly!) practically fell off her chair when I said I'd be 42 soon...!
They actually know that we'd like a sibling for my DS - (don't know the extent of it all tho!) so I think a penny totally dropped there for her about why chat all about having bday celebrations etc wasn't my cup of tea...
It's hard, and I hate that I'm 42 soon too - I keep telling myself that it's only just another day, it's not like something switches overnight, but I hear you!
I hope you can have a lovely day and that you can spoil yourself as hopefully be spoilt by your DP and so at least it's a lovely day, even if it's time marching on xx
