@rose and @cleo thank you. I'm going to get the tests repeated. And doctor suggested day 21 test to see if I've ovulated but (which is actually done 7 days before the beginning of your next cycle) given my two short cycles I have no idea when I would have that done....😬

Rose68 · 10/01/2019 13:12

As you can see, I know very little about ivf!

@weasledee it’s good to hear from you! Has it really been 2 months already, where does time go 😩 I have heard about the walnut thing but I thought it was miles off yet, like 60-70’s that miles off! Mind you the way time is going that will probably be in about 5 mins.

@Taxgirl1 I really think it’s worth another FSH test on cd2. xxx

@Ellie 2015 welcome! Hurray someone else who is 43! We now have lots of us who are 43, maybe it shows i’m not totally off my rocker! My DH is taking well man conception and high strength vitamin c tablets (2 x 1000mg a day). However he does need reminding, but he doesn’t like to be reminded, which means he probably isn’t taking them very often. He also doesn’t do anything to reduce his caffeine or alcohol consumption and he can drink a lot. 😬 I can’t put any pressure on him though for fear of him saying that’s it, no more trying.

@Petrarabbit you made me giggle.

As for me I need to look towards next month, stock up on more supplements, stop eating cakes and chocolate (which I have failed at miserably since my mc) and be nicer to DH, except DH is likely to be away next month 😭

Ellie2015 · 10/01/2019 13:16

Thank you for a warm welcome. It’s amazing to see almost 25 ladies (including me) TTC on this board and some exciting news too-congratulations!

I completely forgot DH is indeed on Wellman conception and Uniquinone (As opposed to Ubiquinol which i am on). He also takes some vit d i think. Trouble is he is so not regular in taking them..it’s like when he remembers! Lol. He is not on any added zinc...but perhaps wellman has that in it..?!

Ellie2015 · 10/01/2019 13:18

😂 lol rose just read your message which perhaps you posted while I was still typing! Similar story about DH! 😬🤣😂

Rose68 · 10/01/2019 13:18

@Taxgirl1 sorry, our messages crossed. Progesterone test is usually done on day 21, but it should be done mid leutal phase, which isn’t necessarily 7 days before the end of your cycle (unless you have a 14 day LP). x

Taxgirl1 · 10/01/2019 13:21

@rose my OH sounds like yours although I haven't suggested he take vitamins - perhaps I should.

@ellie Hello and welcome. I take omega 3 - it was recommended by a specialist that I've seen along with pregnacare, d3 and aspirin (although I'm not taking that at the mo)

@cleo have thought about doing my AMH although not sure I want to know any more about my walnuts and their dwindling effectiveness. Actually think the private consultant is doing a test including AMH on my next cycle - he was the one that told me donor egg ivf would be my best way forward if that's an accurate number

Taxgirl1 · 10/01/2019 13:23

@rose thank you. Im going to sound really stupid now but is mid luteal phase from day of ovulation to beginning of next cycle.

Taxgirl1 · 10/01/2019 13:24

Damn the new year diet - I need cake!

Chatbash72 · 10/01/2019 13:25

Yay new thread thank you @Orchid222
Welcome @Ellie2015 my hubby takes wellman intermittently caffeine is reduced but a few units a week... but I feel that a little of what you like is less stressful and a less nagging wife might not dampen performance 😳
Congratulations on the bfp s' fab news
Checking in on day 6 of cycle.. and we have now got loft insulation above our bedroom !!! After 6 years ( you can touch the roof tiles in the attic) so dtd might be a warmer affair rather than trying to dodge the hot water bottles under the duvet and blankets hurrah
Baby dust to all xx

onemorego2019 · 10/01/2019 13:26

Having a bit of a wobble. Starting a new job very soon (same place) but promotion. Met my new boss and they asked about family etc. I said I had 3 and gave their ages. New boss was gobsmacked at the ages of the youngest, couldn't imagine going back to those days etc.

So do I look ancient...like I wouldn't have a 3 year old?

Ttc now so how will it be taken if I get pregnant?

Should I hide any pregnancy as long as I can if I'm lucky enough??

My overthinking brain is driving me bonkers! Can't talk to oh about it as he has already said we should wait ttc a bit and give me a year or so in new job. But I refused and said it's not a given I will conceive straight away anyway!

Don't really know the point of this post just needed to offload 😂

Taxgirl1 · 10/01/2019 13:33

@onemorego I would start trying as soon as you can. As you say there are no guarantees although it can be all consuming...which isn't necessarily good for concentration. I would also keep it a secret for at least the first three months. You're a little more protected I feel once they know that you're pregnant...

mellongoose · 10/01/2019 13:51

Hi ladies. Thank you for all your love and support.

It's been a really shitty week. I went to see my girl again this morning with my mum. Just beautiful. This was the last time. I've said goodbye.

We talked about the possibility of trying for another (not yet obvs). In the space of a few days I've gone from thinking I could never do that again ever to wanting it more than anything. Bloody hormones.

I'm still watching your stories ladies and willing you all on. I'm mostly crying and healing slowly. I'm a mixed up puppy at the moment! We will see what this year brings. Sending much love xxx

Rose68 · 10/01/2019 13:55

@Taxgirl1, I think (please someone correct me if I’m wrong) LP is from the day after ovulation until the day before AF comes (so last cycle day).

@Chat good news re the loft insulation!

@omemorego2019 Definitely carry on ttc, as you say it might not happen straight away, and definitely don’t worry about how it would be taken if you do get pregnant, it’s your life, you might regret not trying now if you were to wait. I would try to keep it a secret for at least the first 3 months.

Rose68 · 10/01/2019 14:01

@Mellon, it’s lovely to hear from you! You are so so brave, I think it’s wonderful that you have been strong enough to see your LO again to say goodbye. You do need time to recover from this, but I’m sure it could happen for you again, sending lots of love xxx

Chatbash72 · 10/01/2019 14:21

@onemorego2019 my eldest is 21 and youngest is 5.. I would keep a pregnancy quiet for a while. But other people's opinions ring around your head and are difficult to ignore but do try.. if you can. What's most important is your and DHs' point of view..
offload away... we all have friends who would think we are crazy for ttc... but we are ( trying not crazy) and we have lovely support here.. xxx

karryk · 10/01/2019 15:16

Checking in Smile

Lots of love @MellonGoose ❤️❤️

Still waiting for AF so I can plan the next dtd day (we only ever manage one or two attempts 🙄). Currently cycle day 31 so hopefully soon....not that I'm impatient or anything!

My dh refuses to take supplements 😑 maybe I can drop them into his dinner 🤔 Grin

Karigan195 · 10/01/2019 15:51

We took a break. For a few months due to me having surgery. Apparently taking a break is sometimes what does it!

Russkispy · 10/01/2019 16:09

@CritterTamer thank you for taking your time to reply. Yes, indeed, I was reading exactly that hence questions! I know my clinic only transfer one embryo. But if I insist on transferring 2, it's up to me, really. Providing we will have any good embryos. Haven't even started the process. Yet to hear from them and to find about this cycle. I'm around 8dpo or so, I think.

CritterTamer · 10/01/2019 16:32

@Russkispy I think most clinics are happy to transfer 2 embryos where the woman is over 40, or in younger women who gave had multiple failed km plantations. I'd be very surprised if they won't agree to transfer 2 if you have the opportunity. My clinic showed me the stats and for 40 - 41 age group the chance success went from 20% for a single 5 day blast transfer to 37% for a double 5 day blast transfer. Obviously for us it did not work the first time but the blasts weren't top quality (4AB and 4AC). Second time around the blasts were perfect 5AAs and they offered us the option of transferring one or two advising there was a 20% risk of twins, but said that at age 40 they would still suggest transferring both even with great quality embryos.

The %increase in success rates for FET is very small, and whilst the theory is that the reason for this is you are putting the embryos back into a body with a better hormonal balance, for us older ladies I think that this is necessarily a disadvantage. For example on a natural cycle my lining is thin, probably too thin to support a pregnancy at around 7mm, but due to the IVF stimulation and all the extra oestrogen I was able to produce a perfect 12mm lining for our successful cycle. Had I waited a month and had an unmedicated FET I am certain this would not have been the case.

Good luck whatever you choose to do. 😊

onemorego2019 · 10/01/2019 17:42

Thank you 😊 I guess I'm getting a bit ahead of my self really. May not even get a BFP yet! If I'm lucky enough to I may even try and hold out telling them until 20 weeks 😈

Realitysucks · 10/01/2019 19:20

@CritterTamer @Russkispy what does FET mean? So we have asked for two and the clinic advised that. That if I even get two so stressing about it. Also trying to read about quality of 5 day blast transfers. What if they don’t get to 5 days ? Is that it? Do you know how they grade the blasts I’ve seen 5AA I presume that’s optimum? Sorry so many questions I just want to be prepared ! They have said they may transfer at day 2 day 3 or 5. I presume waiting for blast is better ?

littlemimosa · 10/01/2019 20:33

Welcome Ellie! Good to have you.

Mellongoose - good to hear from you too. You sound so brave and I think it’s understandable to go between feeling you don’t ever want to ttc again and that you want to ASAP. I think just take some time to grieve and heal and care for yourself right now and park the thinking for a while. Sending lots of love to you and your hubby.

Cleo - no I don’t temp or even do opks these days. I’m so over it all. I just watch my body’s signs and go off that. I’ve no doubt I get it wrong sometimes but most cycles my period appears when I expect it to ie 14-17 dpo. So I’m presuming I’m accurate ish with ovulation. I just get stressed and frustrated with temping and opks, don’t you? Just sat here sipping yummy tea and looking forward to my acupuncture tomorrow afternoon:)

littlemimosa · 10/01/2019 20:35

Forgot to add: I went to the nurse at GPs yesterday and when I told her my age and that we were ttc and that it wasn’t happening, she said ‘oh that’s unlikely to be age related, more stress related’.... that was blunt!!
