@mellongoose tears are good, counselling will be invaluable.. hard but worth it.. if you go for new job a baby will still fit in with that option.. but the answer will come.. sending big hugs..
Keeping fingers crossed @Russkispy
@Realitysucks good luck for scan today..
lots of love to you all 💕

Russkispy · 12/02/2019 11:26

@Rose68 I didn't take clomid this time. And when I took clomid in December after failed ivf , then it was bfn and the cycle was 26 days. Who knows whats happening right now.

Rose68 · 12/02/2019 11:47

@Russkispy fingers crossed you won’t need that ivf cycle!

Russkispy · 12/02/2019 12:21

Thank you @Rose68 . Will keep you posted!

Cleozeta · 12/02/2019 12:44

Russkispy - I replied to PM yesterday, let me know if you didn't get it and I'll resend. My technical skills are not the best!!

Good luck this cycle, you never know....

Reality - good luck today, hopefully things have picked up!

Realitysucks · 12/02/2019 13:24

So not good news. 1 dominant follicle at 12mm and two at 5 and 5.1 they suggested we abandoned cycle but have agreed to go till Friday now. If the two small ones reach 10mm then We can carry on if not we asked about trigger and then to try naturally which they agreed to. Lining is looking really good she said so it’s a shame to waste a cycle.

yetwig · 12/02/2019 15:47

Wonder if you lovely ladies can help.

I'm 40 had an ectopic 3 years ago at 7weeks 4 days, we gave up ttc after 18mths but haven't been on any contraception, every month my periods have been getting shorter and shorter, currently 2 days every 26/28 days. So I got thinking I'm premenopausal right...

Well fast forward to today, 38 days late very sore boobs but still thinking menopausal?

Megan2018 · 12/02/2019 16:01

@yetwig
I am 40, nearly 41 and periods have always been short and light. 26/28 days seems normal too. I am 9+2 with DC 1 so nothing about your cycles sounds bad to me! Have you not tested?

yetwig · 12/02/2019 16:06

Megan2018 I haven't as of yet, guess I'm scared incase it's another negative 😞

Karigan195 · 12/02/2019 16:15

Mine were about 26 days with bleeding short as well and I’m 11weeks and 4 days. Maybe you should test just in case

Hobbes39 · 12/02/2019 17:18

@Realitysucks - I'm so sorry it's not going so well for you - it's just so frustrating how our bodies sometimes don't respond as we hope SadThanks
That's good they've agreed to seeing how things are on Friday - you never know, more might spring into action by then, plus if the other 2 do some catching up, 3 follicles is enough to go to collection I believe. Good luck - you could try going crazy on the protein - I ate a lot of omelettes in my round with the most follicles - protein is supposed to help with follicle growth? Xx

SparrowSG · 12/02/2019 17:29

@Realitysucks on my last round of IVF in June last year I only had two follicles on collection day but we went ahead anyway (in fact there was no mention otherwise). I had two good quality eggs and both made it to a day 3 transfer. The Dr said if one was genetically good, there would be no reason for my not to get pregnant (good lining etc). Unfortunately, I did not that time, but if I was to be in that situation again I would still continue on till the end. As has been said on here many times, it only takes one good egg. Keeping my fingers crossed for you xx

Realitysucks · 12/02/2019 18:10

@Hobbes39 and @sparrowSG then m just not sure what to do. I have from the beginning been on 450iu so the highest dose and they can’t up it. We have paid for multicycle so if we abandon then I still have two rounds of egg collection to try and we just lose the 2k we have spent on drugs. Do we carry on and risk a bad collection of just a couple of eggs or wait for another cycle with a better response. Given that they can’t up my drugs I could just have the same response each time. However they say they will check fsh as if high then the drugs won’t make any difference and then they wait for a cycle where it’s a bit lower. They just don’t seem to have any proper answers.

Realitysucks · 12/02/2019 18:15

The alternative is to spend a bit more now and carry on till the big one is 18mm then do a trigger shot definitely knowing I have one good mature egg and try to get pregnant naturally. I’ll still have my two cycles left and if it doesn’t get any better and I don’t get to egg collection next time as well then we withdraw and I’ll get a refund from the multicycle programme. I don’t want to waste an egg collection on potentially bad eggs if there is a chance it could be better in three or six months.

Saying all of the above I literally want to go home and get pissed now! I won’t though promise 🙄

Hobbes39 · 12/02/2019 18:34

What protocol were you on? (Long or short?) if this doesn't go well then there's always the chance to change protocol or change drugs - some people respond better to some drugs than others...?
It could just be bad luck - it's shit that it's not explainable, but sometimes it just is like that as try just don't know til they try you on something...
Would they change to IUI if the thee 2 don't develop? X

coppercolouredtop · 12/02/2019 18:48

I can't comment on anything ivf related but good luck ladies.

I'd like to know what is going on in there but maybe I'm best not knowing. !

sparrow how are you lovely? You had any better news yet?

I started testing with opk yesterday but no flashy smiley yet (or static for that matter)
On nights tonight so wondering when best to test tomorrow...

Had last ditch attempt to talk about donor eggs but dp is adamant he doesn't want to go that route. I wish I wasn't quite so broody.

Anyway I'm going to keep using opk and try and dtd at the right time and let nature take its course I think.

I think we've left it too late . Have a feeling that if we'd started when we first started broaching the idea of a baby (I was 42) it might have been different.

Somehow 47 feels way older than 45 or 46. Sad

Realitysucks · 12/02/2019 21:11

@Hobbes39 I’m on the short protocol no downreg due to age and low AMH. All they told me was to up protein and drink water which I have been doing. No alcohol since New Year’s Eve. I mentioned iui to them and was basically told it will cost me 1k and pointless as his sperm is supersperm the only additional benefit would be it gets coated in nutrients before getting put back. They gave me absolutely no options it was me who asked about continuing, iui and using trigger to get pregnant naturally.

Annie078 · 12/02/2019 21:11

Just read through this entire thread and so glad I found it. Mind if I join you lovely bunch?
Almost 41, TTC #1 for 18 months, Dh already has 2Dc from previous relationship.
Sep 17, MMC at 10 weeks, baby measured 7 weeks.
April 18, Mc at 8 weeks,
Jan 19, MC at 7 weeks.
AF arrived this week, so at least I know where I am with my cycle again. Have appt with RMC dept at the end of this month so we will take it from there. Anyway just wanted to say hello to you all Smile

Hobbes39 · 12/02/2019 21:29

@Realitysucks - I'd see how Friday goes and if it comes to needing another cycle then I'd ask about doing a long protocol - I find it odd that different clinics advise different things, but mine was v clear that log protocol is supposedly actually better than short for women over 40 - the consultant referred me to various studies way back when we discussed it and I do remember that they backed up what he said, so might be worth asking if short protocol hasn't worked so well? But see how Friday goes, you may be fine 🤞 x

Realitysucks · 12/02/2019 21:35

@hobbes39 this is the problem every clinic has a different view. I was told short protocol better for older over 40 and those with diminished reserves as not as stressful on system and no risk of shutting system down with downregs.

Iusedtobecarmen · 12/02/2019 22:19

copper
I hear you saying 47 seems way older than 46 and 45.
Now I'm 48. How the hell did this happen?
I'd give anything to be 45!!and I think id feel quite positive!

Rose68 · 12/02/2019 22:44

I think it’s all relative, to me 43 seems way older than 41 or 42. And I’m not that many months off being 44.

Chatbash72 · 12/02/2019 23:15

Sorry ladies I know nothing on ivf but sending big hugs
Welcome @yetwig, ooh that's sounds positive.. and @Annie078 sorry for your losses xxx

Hobbes39 · 13/02/2019 09:59

Omg - it's twins! 2 measuring 7+3 both with good heartbeats! I'm in shock!!!! @CritterTamer you were right!!

littlemimosa · 13/02/2019 10:13

Hobbes - amazing news!! Wow. Congratulations.

Hi everyone else. And welcome newbies. Still no ovulation here:(

Mellon - I have to agree with the thought that career can wait. However I do think you should spend some time in counselling too in order to grieve your loss. Big hugs.
