Hello all of you lovely mumsnet peeps! So I have literally just created an account right now.

Just stopped my mini pill. Have a 15 month old son, excited and nervous to try for baby 2! Baby one came after first period from stopping pill which i know was very fortunate but its given my high expectations for this time...which is not a good thing as chances are wont happen that way twice. Trying to be realistic and casual about it. Hmm

Anyone else trying for second... or first?

@PastaSauceHoarder haha yes we are!! It will be, my cycle is normally 28 days. I think when you want to be pregnant it feels like everyone else in the world is; i think you just notice it more. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you and I’m sure things will happen for you very soon. You’re lovely and young too so you have age on your side and plenty of time. I’m getting so broody for a second baby especially after looking at pics of ds as a newborn...Smile

PastaSauceHoarder · 10/11/2018 21:37

Thank you for your kind words, @Cocobana. ❤ I do hope you're right. I hope that we all get that lovely BFP very soon!

Ah, my cycle is 32 days on average so you should get to ovulation before me. Its going to be so nerve-wracking during the TWW, I don't know how I'm going to be able to focus on much else!

Have either of you heard that brazil nuts are good for implantation? I've just been reading up on it and I'm not 100% clear but it seems like if you eat a few a day from ovulation onwards then its supposed to help... I'm not sure of course, but I'll try anything! 😂

Cocobana · 11/11/2018 12:00

You are so welcome @PastaSauceHoarder you’ll get your positive soon I’m sure and it’ll just mean you’ll appreciate all the more when you’ve been wanting it for so long. I know it’s hard to not get swept up in it all. I’ve never heard that about brazil nuts but it’s definitely worth a try and can’t do any harm, it’ll be a good source of protein if nothing else! Smile✨👍🏼x

Cocobana · 11/11/2018 12:04

I mean the to say wanting it so badly not so long, dam predictive typing!!

Cocobana · 11/11/2018 12:04

Meant to say+* give up lol

Scarletrose18 · 11/11/2018 13:26

Yes im taking one everyday until AF @pastaSauceHoarder . Doubt will be anything but just incase Smile
Good to know they are reliable, thank you. I got 50pk and 5 free pg tests with them which was handy and I think it only cost about 5 pounds.

Yaaay to getting your AF, perfect time. Great sign of being fertile Grin

Yes I dont tell anyone, when people ask about another baby, I just kind of say we will see, or maybe next year. Its hard because you feel scared to tell people incase you dont concieve right away of something happens.

Scarletrose18 · 11/11/2018 13:39

@cocobana We were the same, Everything I read up on said would take 6 months to a year after stopping pill if at all so when ds was concieved was a bit of a shock... best shock ever though Grin

Sorry im a bit behind in answering the chats ladies. No I havnt heard of brazil nuts, must google it to see. I love vitamins and things (pretty sure we keep holland and barret in business Smile ) and I know there are multi vits and herbs you can get there to help. Never tried them though. Have heard of pineapple cores for implantation

I have just taken todays ov test, been nothing everyday so far until today.

So, Before ds, I was taking ov tests when i stopped pill to see if i even ovulated, (i took twice a day back then) day 13/14 of cycle, i got a light line then the next day AM a darkish line then the pm it went light again bit it never went as dark as the control line, so i assumed i never ovulated that month (obs i found out after i did) so my body only showed up the line for a super short time and never as dark.... Do u think this light line could mean ov on its way? Did both of you get lines even when not ov? Am i being silly and too hopeful lol... please tell me if i am.

PastaSauceHoarder · 11/11/2018 14:47

I get light lines a whole week or so before I get a proper positive result @Scarletrose18, so it looks like it might be on its way! Smile Mine tend to get just a tiny bit darker each day on the run up to ovulation.

I'm not sure about the AM/PM thing, though I think with some women can have a shorter LH surge - so maybe the month you conceived your son it was only a short one, if that makes sense?

Scarletrose18 · 11/11/2018 16:18

@PastaSauceHoarder yes makes sense. I dont think I specifically ov AM or PM but because it was so short last time I think I will test twice a day from now incase I miss it. Although this may be nothing and AF may be here soon, lol, as lobg as something happens I will be happy.

Hope your both having a good weekend?(and not having any bad pms.) xo

PastaSauceHoarder · 11/11/2018 21:32

PMS symptoms have been suspiciously quiet actually, usually I at least have a lot of cramps and huge spots but I seem to be lucky in that regard this month.

My boobs on the other hand are killing me! My toddler had her very first night last night without any breastfeeding whatsoever (yay!!) but its meant that I've swollen up with all the unused milk. I've expressed a little bit by hand and I'm going to take some ibuprofen soon, but will it just dry up soon? How long did it take you to stop producing any milk?

My weekend has been good, just nice and relaxing really. Smile How about yours?

Cocobana · 11/11/2018 21:50

Oh @Scarletrose18 it does look like ovulation is on its way, that’s good news! Exactly i’d heard 6-12 months too and we were so shocked the first time especially since I didn’t track ovulation or anything then and we just let nature take its course. I’m going to do everything i can this time (the whole shibang) including ovulation strips and have ordered some of the conception gel that @PastaSauceHoarder mentioned. Oh and I’m going to buy lots of brazil nuts! Weekend has been good so far, how about yours? I’ve had every symptom under the sun where PMS is concerned including mood swings, poor DH has been running for cover lol Angry luckily I’ve calmed down now.

Maybe just a lighter month for you PastaSauceHoarder. I’m the opposite as AF has come back with avengence, I wanted to convince myself it was implantation bleeding at first then out of nowhere there it was and there’s no convincing of that now lol! I shall be ready when it finishes with my ovulation strips. I’ve told dh to prepare for lots of relations lol he doesn’t really have a choice Grin

PastaSauceHoarder · 11/11/2018 21:59

Haha thats funny @Cocobana, I'm sure your DH won't mind. Grin Mine very noblely offered to DTD every day of November. Hmm I soon told him that it wouldn't be necessary.

Though saying that how often do you think its worth DTD during fertile week?? I've read that every day can be a bit much as the sperm hasn't had time to fully recharge (or something or other along those lines).

Cocobana · 11/11/2018 22:00

Poor you Pasta, it can be painful. Well done for getting so far that’s amazing. I stopped at 6 months and it took about me about a week to dry up from what I recall. I found hand expressing alittle off in the warm shower helped if any lumps in breasts and also applying hot flannels helped to sooth.
I’ve also heard that putting cold cabbage leaves from fridge in your bra is meant to encourage breasts to release milk and then change when wet.

Cocobana · 11/11/2018 22:03

Haha PastaSauceHoarder yes I’ve heard the same too. I’ve heard somewhere every other day is best when trying to conceive. I think if DTD too much it means all of the good stuff is lost but I think you put it alittle more eloquently!

Cocobana · 11/11/2018 22:12

Oh and as for your dh offering every day lol I think my dh was relieved AF made her appearance as he was beginning to feel duped out of the ‘trying’ for baby part if it happened that quickly! You should have seen his face when he thought it may have happened already

Scarletrose18 · 12/11/2018 08:26

Lol @cocobana and @PastaSauceHoarder reading your posts. My dh has been quite happy with the exta dtd this weekend, although it did mean I felt I should shave my legs twice this week Grin

Aww its so sore isnt it. Mine just dried up on its own but its still there if I was to give a squeeze a little will still come out now. Hardest thing was going back to my tiny padded bras after feeling like Pamela Anderson for a year. Sad

I dont envy your pms @cocobana but just think when its over wont be long until ov Smile

I had a good weekend too but now back to Monday.

Scarletrose18 · 12/11/2018 08:35

I didnt know that about DTD everyday. So every other day then.

I have heard male sperm move faster but live shorter so if you dtd alot you are more likely to have a boy but female sperm move slower but live longer so if you dtd less often you are more likely to have a girl. Smile

OP posts:
PastaSauceHoarder · 12/11/2018 10:20

Really @Scarletrose18! I've not heard of the boy or girl one, I wonder if theres much truth in it? Be interesting to see!

Here I am going on about not doing it every day when I just know I'm going to anyway - terrified of missing an opportunity! I've attached a screenshot of my cycle calender, the green days are my fertile week and the 26th and the 27th is when I usually get a positive ovulation test. I've circled the days I'm planning on DTD - is it too much? Is it too little? I feel like I should just relax a bit but I'm definitely a planner. Grin

PastaSauceHoarder · 12/11/2018 10:21

Oh and thanks for the boobie tips, @Cocobana! Currently stood here with a hot flannel. Don't think I have any cabbage though! Grin

FlamingoFlamango · 12/11/2018 10:26

We have a 21 month old DD and weren't planning on baby number 2 for another 2 years however, bish bash bosh, here we are 8 weeks pregnant, a surprise might I say.
Just relax and don't make it all regimental, that's when you start getting stressed and don't tend to conceive. It took 3 months with our DD1 of just relaxed, 'normal' sex

A massive good luck to everyone TTC. Baby dust to you all ❤️

Scarletrose18 · 12/11/2018 11:58

I love how organised you are @PastaSauceHoarder although Im not organised, I do like to plan so I dont think u need to relax with it Smile I dtd every day and still concieved DS so why not, go for it! Maybe dtd every other day few days after AF, just to be safe incase you ov early? But if your sure of your Ov dates, im sure u will be fine.

Are you still swollen and sore? Its so hard cos if you pump your body will produce more. So hard to know. Hope cocos tips help.

@FlamingoFlamingo congratulations!! Thats amazing news. A nice summer baby. BearSmile

OP posts:
PastaSauceHoarder · 12/11/2018 12:19

Ah its good to know that you conceived DTD everyday, @Scarletrose18! Good plan about every other day after AF though, I've still got loads of OPKs left so I'll use them everyday just to make sure I catch it. Imagine I did all this planning and bloody missed it. 😭

How about you, have you taken another OPK today? Smile

Feeling a little better thank you, still swollen on one side! DD had a preference so one of my boobs is fine - the other is bloody bigger at the mo. Confused Hoping it dries up soon and I don't have to be lopsided!!

Scarletrose18 · 12/11/2018 14:31

@PastaSaucehoarder Lol. Aww no, having to wait a whole other month you would go crazy!! Yes I was lopsided, I think ds preferred right side so it was bigger.. now they are gone. 2 fried eggs are all thats left Grin

Yes I think that is how the sex of the baby is deternined, obvs it depend on lots of other factors, but research it and see. Or maybe you shouldnt... even more to think about ha ha

Yes took my one earlier today (not using first wee of the morning as advised) and it was darker again. Will try another this eve and see.... if i can hold off until this eve, prob will take one in the afternoon too just to be sure lol.Im trying not to get too hopeful but I am pleased something is happening anyway. x

AF still not giving you too much trouble today?
