Hello all of you lovely mumsnet peeps! So I have literally just created an account right now.

Just stopped my mini pill. Have a 15 month old son, excited and nervous to try for baby 2! Baby one came after first period from stopping pill which i know was very fortunate but its given my high expectations for this time...which is not a good thing as chances are wont happen that way twice. Trying to be realistic and casual about it. Hmm

Anyone else trying for second... or first?

Thanks for posting the chart @Scarletrose18 it looks great. I shall be using it. After almost 4 weeks of being off the pill I finally got some light pink spotting today so it looks like my period is on its way; thank god! I’m just happy my body is doing something and it’ll be nice to know where I am in my cycle.
I can relate what you said above about the age gap, I’ve waited until the scenario I’d i conceived fast I would be happy with the age gap and I’m not worrying it will take a long time and I should have started trying sooner. If I’m not pregnant by the time ds is 2 I won’t be happy! I’m also broody and keep looking at ds as a newborn and I just know I’m ready for that feeling again.

Hurray for spotting, @Cocobana! Smile Its crazy how excited we get about these things. When I came off the coil to get my cycle ready for TTC, I remember telling my friends (childfree and not trying that I know of) that I'd gotten my first period in two years. They were like, 'ah that sucks, sorry to hear that, you must be feeling crap'. I had to tell them that it was a good thing and that I was very happy about it!! Grin

Cocobana · 09/11/2018 14:49

Thank you @PastaSauceHoarder haha exactly! It actually made my day, I must be getting old or something! It’s such a relief and I feel so much better that things have started to happen. I’ve never wanted a period so much in my life, now bring on ovulation in about two weeks time, I’ve got my strips ready.

Cocobana · 09/11/2018 14:50

Oh and pasta god two years that must have been brutal, poor you.

Scarletrose18 · 09/11/2018 14:55

@PastaSauceHoarder Yes I will have alot of help when/if I need it. Yes I feel a bit guilty because DC1 is still such a baby just now but I know in 10 months or more he will have grown so much in so many ways.

Yes I said if I could feed until 6 months I would be happy lol I cut down to night only then just stopped and replaced with cows milk. He was totaly fine... and I think thats when I really felt that I would love another baby.

Yes have a night out this weekend so that will be nice. What about you?

"High five" for AF on its way.... im excited for you Grin Im sure you are relieved too @cocobana im still waiting for mine, although its only been a week so im sure theres plenty of time yet.

Yes Im the same, I waited until minimum gap would be 2 years then stopped pill. My stips arrived this morning, never used a strip before, only the stick ones so going to try it out later.

Did you say your DS is 20 months? I dont want to go check older posts incase I loose what I have typed so far lol. But if he is, thats a lovely gap Smile

OP posts:
Cocobana · 09/11/2018 15:17

Thanks @Scarletrose18 I know finally a sign; it’s made my day. Yes ds is 20 months old and I couldn’t contemplate trying before now but it’s difficult not to regret starting to try sooner. I was scared of coping with too close an age gap but equally I’m afraid of too large a gap too. Because ds was conceived in the first month after coming off the pill last time it made me scared to try too soon but now I’m worried this time will take ages and it’ll be the complete opposite probably! I guess we just have to be grateful for what we are given, when, and what is to be is to be. If I’m lucky enough to have another baby I will be very happy. I think you’re trying at the right time, afterall only you know when you feel ready.
It was my first time using ovulation strips too and I used one acouple days ago when my period hadn’t arrived. You literally just dip in urine but no more than 15 seconds and don’t dip above arrows/line. One line = negative. Two lines = positive with a lighter second line meaning earlier ovulation.

Cocobana · 09/11/2018 15:20

Forgot to say also that unlike pregnancy tests they say it’s best to take the ovulation tests later in the day. It’s all new to me.

Scarletrose18 · 09/11/2018 20:36

@cocobana I concieved ds1 after first AF from stopping pill too, which is great but it sets your expectations high for next time, I keep thinking... it could happen again but then Im also thinking theres no way it could happen twice so quick, it will prob take ages this time... thats the hardest thing about ttc its the not knowing what way things will turn out and the waiting... waiting for AF, waiting to ov then the 2 week wait, it defo tests our patience.

I think pasta.s.h has had great patience, stopping contaceptive then tracking cycles... its really what I should of done too but I think if i had of stopped pill before now to track, I would of given in and accidently on purpose had a moment of weakness and ttc. Lol.

You say your getting old coco, what age are all of you ladies, if you dont mind me asking that?

Tried the strips tonight, thank you for the tips! I quite like them actually, but it says you have to wait 10 minutes for result which is a bit anoying, and u cant read it after 30 minutes, I took one just before we went out but before I had read that you had to wait 10 mins so I had to wrap it up and bring it in the car with me and check it after 10 mins. Niccce Grin

OP posts:
Cocobana · 10/11/2018 10:22

@Scarletrose18 good luck with the strips, I quite liked them too and think I’ll change to strips for pregnancy testing too. The strips I had said result within 5-10 mins, 10 mins is ages and having to take it in car Grin that would be something I would do and dh would just look at me like Hmm
At least no convincing looking evap lines or weird shiny white lines with them as you can get on tnthe sticks. I think I’ll know better where I stand and save it’ll any confusion. No problem at all, I’m 32 so my clock is ticking for having a second baby but I’m very grateful I have ds. How old are you?

Cocobana · 10/11/2018 10:23

It’ll save+*

PastaSauceHoarder · 10/11/2018 10:29

That's right about the ovulation strips @Cocobana, unlike pregnancy tests you should never use first morning wee and instead during the afternoon. A positive test is when the second line is darker or the same as the first line. I've been using the bloody things since July so I feel a bit of an expert now! 🙄

LOL at @Scarletrose18 taking hers out with her. Grin

Goodness I'd never describe myself as patient! My husband didn't want to try until November so I had to just sit tight and wait. Tracking and planning at least kept me busy and made me feel like I was doing something to help myself, if that makes sense. Smile Didn't stop me from the occasional begging to my husband to weaken and try sooner!

Oh and I'm 22, @Scarletrose18!

Scarletrose18 · 10/11/2018 13:48

@cocobana Im 30 Smile yes when we stopped at traffic lights, my husband looked over and gave me the look that said I dont want to know. Lol I told him anyway as im sure he will come across them again in the bathroom at some point. These are mine

Lol @pastaSauceHoarder its funny how all women seem to be the sane, once our minds are made up, we are very much on the mindset of "baby needed right now" and men take so much longer to decide. 22, thats such a good age to have your babies as you will have alot of energy still, I feel like my energy levels have started decreasing the last year or so (Listen to me I sound like im 60 ha ha) or maybe thats from chasing a 1 year old around Grin

Its nice to know a little about eachother and have a "picture" in our heads of who we are chatting to. I find it so strange that you are talking to complete strangers about things, feelings and details I wouldnt even tell a close friend. But I guess the anonymity of it is why it works and why you feel you can share things, plus you know the ladies you chat too feel the same way. Smile

Glad to have ya'll to chat to. Thank you Flowers

Cocobana · 10/11/2018 14:35

@PastaSauceHoarder you’re still lovely and young and as Scarlet says what a nice age to have children. I wish I had been in the position to have dc alittle younger as it does zap your energy. I would say from 30 to now I do get a lot more tired but that could also be down to my toddler!
This is another reason @Scarletrose18 that I don’t want to wait too long for a second baby. I don’t want to be changing nappies in my late thirties lol. I told dh if it doesn’t happen before I turn 35 in a couple of years I will call it a day and be happy with one! To be honest I’ll give it six months and if it doesn’t happen I’ll be hauling dh to the doctors with me and ask for a fertility check. I was actually so shocked it happened in the first month with ds because I was envisioning waiting months (it didn’t help me watching a well known you tube conception video seeing the sperms difficult and troublesome journey to the egg....I would encourage anybody trying to conceive not to watch that!
Oh dh is exactly the same scarlet he hates to hear about it, I think men just don’t understand the trials and tribulations us ladies go through because it’s not their body.
Lovely to talk to you both Flowersx

PastaSauceHoarder · 10/11/2018 14:42

Totally agree with you, @Scarletrose18. I've been so nervous about TTC that I hadn't wanted to join in on the conception boards in case I 'jinxed' it or something (which is so silly). I've very much wanted to keep our TTC plans to ourselves but I felt a bit lonely really - DH is fantastic and lets me ramble to him but of course he doesn't quite get it as much. I've felt sooo much more calmer since chatting to you lovely ladies! ❤

Ah those are the same ovulation that I use, I've found them to be quite reliable! Are you just going to use one everyday until you get a positive result?

My period arrived today bang on time, so I'm in a good mood. Grin I'm wishing and hoping that it'll be my last one before getting pregnant again!! 🤞🏻

PastaSauceHoarder · 10/11/2018 14:49

Oh no, I don't like the sound of that video @Cocobana!! Shock I bought some preseed last week which is supposed to help guide the sperm a bit better. Its got amazing reviews so I guess I'll have to wait and see how it goes!

Cocobana · 10/11/2018 14:51

This is the one I am start to use Scarlet and it’s a 5-10 min wait. I got pack of 15 off amazon and got 4 free pregnancy test strips with it, prime next day delivery.

@PastaSauceHoarder thanks I didn’t know that, think I’ll look into some of the preseed you mentioned for next month because I want to give it the best chance possible. Oh yes definitely avoid that video, it has this really dramatic music and everything and my god what a journey it goes through, me and dh watched it before trying for dc1 and were like ShockShock that isn’t ever going to happen!!

Cocobana · 10/11/2018 15:12

Oh and PastaSauceHoarder great news you got your period but hope it’s your last one for you too! AF for me too today after spotting yesterday. Let’s hope november is the month for us all, god luck ladies ✨✨✨

PastaSauceHoarder · 10/11/2018 16:27

@Cocobana hurray we're cycle buddies! Wink I've been ovulating on CD17&18 so it'll be interesting to see when you do too.

And yes, lots and lots of baby dust for us all!! I'm terrified of it not happening quickly. I have three SILs and all of them are pregnant at the moment. 🙄 Just want that to be me too.
