Here's the new thread. This is a lovely supportive thread for anyone who has suffered the loss of a much wanted baby. Affectionately known as the penguin huddle- this is the place to survive the ups and downs of this crazy journey.

Kicking off with a roll call:

Can I join in?

Trying to conceive baby number 1
Mmc at six weeks in March started naturally
Mmc at 8 weeks in June spotted at an early scan and ERPC followed
Had to wait six weeks for AF. Both times I caught straight away and now I'm too scared to try again but really want to at the same time! I know they won't test until after at least 3 mmc in a row. Has anyone opted for private tests? I'm also paranoid that ERPC will leave me with an incompetent cervix so even in we are lucky enough to conceive and have a sticky bean I'm worried I'll have an even worse loss mid term or something

zarala · 14/08/2018 20:02

@mk87
Hi and I'm so sorry you find yourself here
I am seeing Dr Shehata privately- after a lot of research I found he has such a dedicated fan club and has amazing results.
I was booked to see him after my second MC- but somehow conceived immediately - but ended up losing a 3rd time before I saw him. Since then I have seen dr S and also referred to RMC

DR S is expensive BUT! Results are in 2 weeks and you can usually TTC straight away!
Whereas under the RMC- I saw them in May, I have my follow up next week And they don't want me to TTC until October as they want to scan my womb for scar tissue using hysteroscopy. And results take 6-8 weeks

With regards to weakened cervix- I didn't even know this was a risk 😫 I had 2 ERPCs, no one mentioned this was a risk to me...the only risk they said is you can get scar tissue which can cause issues conceiving or implantation in strange place hence the hysteroscopy....

The NHS policy of only after 3 is because the vast vast majority of women go on to have healthy pregnancies- only a very rare number have 3 or more consecutively

Also another thing you may like to consider- which I did after mc3- is traditional Chinese medicine. I saw a wonderful doctor and I really felt a lot better- even tho the herbs are disgusting - she helped regulate my hormones after my MCs and strengthened my body. Unfortunately dr s doesn't recommend taking herbs alongside the drug regime I'm on- so I had to stop....

Anyway- let me know if you have any more questions. Hugs

mk87 · 14/08/2018 20:16

Thanks for all the info! Do you mind me asking what tests/meds they have put you on? I think the risks were low of the cervix issue but definitely something that's played on my mind

zarala · 14/08/2018 20:35

@mk87 sure no problem. I'm sure all the other ladies are so bored of my shit! Haha
So I apologise everyone for this very long and boring post...

So I saw dr s first
He tested all my hormones- I also requested for AMH test for ovarian reserves as I am 36 and just wanted to see how that is.
He did all the different thrombophilia blood clotting stuff, he did a full blood count, and then he tested for natural killer cells.
My husband did a sperm comet test as well which tests not only sperm speed and quantity but also the dna quality as that can cause MCs.
There were a couple of things he didn't test because I have a DD already which rules that stuff out.
The NHS RMC at St Mary's used all his results but did their own thrombophilia tests as apparently they have some unique method.
The nhs don't agree with dr S method of testing levels of nk cells in blood- only accepted nhs way is uterine scratch /biopsy - which is the dr quenby method. They have offered to do this for me at the same time as the hysteroscopy in September.

So dr s said all my results came back normal except in a pregnancy environment my nk cells are very highly aggressive. More than 3 x normal aggression- which basically means my body attacks the foetus as if it's a foreign body. 😔

So the protocol he put me on is steroids from day of ovulation until 10dpo. 11dpo test in morning. If bfn stop drugs and start again next month. If BFP continue for first 16 weeks of pregnancy. And he wants me to come in every 2 weeks for intralipid infusions and scans. The steroids basically suppress the immune system to stop the body attacking the foetus. And the intralipids bond to the nk cells and render them useless. Or so he believes. The NHS consultant literally snorted at the mention of intralipids- they think it is an absolute joke- but only because dr s hasn't and doesn't publish his results so the scientific community don't accept his claims...

Dr s also puts all his clients immediately on:
Baby aspirin 75mg
Vitamin D 2000iu
Pregnacare max (with the fish oil)

He also gives all his clients progesterone suppositories to take from BFP until 12 weeks ( I think...)

The nhs RMC basically told me they don't think anything is wrong and only 3x bad luck...🙄 next Tuesday I go in for my follow up so I will see what else they say.

For now I have decided to put my faith in dr s and we have TTC again- despite the fact that the nhs want me to until after the hysteroscopy result in October!

I find out on Friday if we were successful This month... I am so impatient!

Anymore questions just let me know!

zarala · 14/08/2018 20:40

@mk87 sorry one more thing
When he tests for nk cells he also treats them to find out which drug combo works best for you. So some women don't get intralipids. Some get other drugs...it's quite a sophisticated blood test they do- hence the price tag...

mk87 · 14/08/2018 20:53

Thanks time to book myself in at the go I think! Hopefully they won't ignore me

Melpops36 · 14/08/2018 22:41

Hi everyone!
Thought I’d join in if that’s ok
I’m 37
TTC #4
MMC March 2018 @ 14 weeks
ERPC
June 2018 further treatment for retained products following 30 days of bleeding(!)
AF just arrived this month
Cycle changed from 28 days to 23 since procedures and so much more painful 😖

Been trying for 3 cycles now and no luck yet! Gonna start temping this month and using OPK.
Fingers crossed 🤞

Laney79 · 15/08/2018 06:52

Argh! Why is this never simple? So I'm 14dpo. Have had 25/26 day cycles the past two since MMC all finished. Now CD28 so apps saying I'm two days late.
Convinced myself fri/sat (9/10dpo) that AF was on her way due to cramping and a small amount of very light brown cm.
However no sign of AF...so used an IC early detection test this morning (10miu) as well as a pound shop cheapie strip (20miu) and I really can't tell if there's anything there! There may be a hint of a squint-but surely the line would be stronger than that if I'm late? Or could it be it implanted fri/sat in which case is it too soon? I'll attach the image-was taken 5mins after dipping...Help!!

The blue is the more sensitive 10miu one by the way. Confused

Boboelephant · 15/08/2018 06:54

Unfortunately I'm out again. AF arrived this morning.

@strawberrye trying to stay positive is important! Good luck for lots of jks and I'm glad they are doing some tests for you now.
@hayleyfx you are doing so well hun. Glad your body is starting to feel a bit more normal again. Have a lovely time away in Glasgow, you both deserve a break.
@mk87 and @Melpops36 welcome and sorry for your losses.

Boboelephant · 15/08/2018 06:59

@Laney79 I can definitely see lines! I can actually see them on both but the blue one is slightly darker which makes sense. Tentative congratulations!!! I'd test again tomorrow and hopefully the line will get darker.

Laney79 · 15/08/2018 07:05

Thanks @Boboelephant - sorry to hear AF got you. Big hug.

Wondering if I should hit boots later and get me some frers. Never used them before (and before MC never thought I would, oh for the days of what will be will be!) but am really nervous. Nervous of it being positive, nervous that it won't be.

I've been awake since 4am...brain won't switch off. Confused

Blondcat · 15/08/2018 07:30

@laney79 I think I see lines too. Tentative congratulations.

@boboelephant sorry af got you again hugs x

strawberrye · 15/08/2018 07:31

@hayleyfx glad to hear you've had some days relaxing with DH, you both so deserve it! You are doing so amazingly well, keep on looking after each other Flowers

@mk87 @MelPops36 welcome and sorry for your losses, you have found such a wonderful community of supportive women here. Fingers crossed for both of you

@Laney79 I can definitely see lines on both of those, I reckon they'll be darker on an FRER. Congratulations!

@Boboelephant sorry AF got you Sad at least you know where you are now, new cycle and new start, fingers crossed!

Mistymeow · 15/08/2018 07:39

Welcome new joiners, sorry to hear of your losses. You will find lots of comfort from this thread I'm sure.

@boboelephant booo to af. Onwards and upwards.

@laney79 there is definite colour in that ic, I don't want to raise your hopes but I am quietly confident you will get a good line on a frer. Get thee to Boots!

Russkispy · 15/08/2018 07:42

@Laney79 , I can see the lines! Tentative congratulations! Fingers crossed they get darker when you test again!
@Boboelephant , it sucks but please stay positive!

strawberrye · 15/08/2018 07:56

Cakelaur · 15/08/2018 08:20

Eek @Laney79 I see it!!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Laney79 · 15/08/2018 08:49

Thanks @Cakelaur not getting hopes up (who am I kidding?!?) but kinda hoping I'm going to follow your lead! Yours was a BFP at 15dpo wasn't it?
Will jump on new thread now xxx

ckc45d10 · 15/08/2018 21:39

Have you looked into water and fat-soluble CoQ10 for better absorption compared to regular CoQ10?

Lilimum4 · 16/08/2018 00:20

@laney79 good luck and Fx for stronger lines tomorrow xx

Angelbabyollie · 16/10/2018 10:24

Hi everyone well I have been off here for a while - was trying to de stress about while situation but now can I ask for advice as really confused! My second postpartum period was due 17 September and this day I started spotting ( had a +hpt but string negatives after so presume I was 1% chance of false positive!) anyway spotting continued not enough for a pad except for an hour one day until cd 14 2 October which then became heavier started having clots etc but was light still some in bowl when wee , so I thought as fed up of bleeding would take soy ISO for 4 days so did after I was heavier , bleeding stopped 8 October. I don't know when to say cycle day started was it from spotting it when I was heavier? Also I am now if you count heavier bleed as cd 1 cd 15 I am so hungry all the time feel sick and certain smells make me feel more sick! I am really confused and don't know when af will be expected! Please does anyone have advice ? Sorry to ask and hope makes some sense! Xx
