OP posts:
gothicmama · 06/07/2004 15:50

sprinkling of baby dust for all

Staceyk · 06/07/2004 15:52

After over 18 months of ttc#1, I'll try anything!
Think it sounds like a great plan for ttt...8.
Hope we can all do it!

miranda2 · 06/07/2004 16:11

Ok, here I am! AF due Sat. Am away all weekend (on ordination retreat!!!Very excited) WILL CHeck in when i get back. Good luck everyone!

lostinparis · 06/07/2004 16:15

I could do with some baby dust, so I'll join! Been ttc since June 2003 and had a m/c at 11.5wks (although I only found out I was pg at 11 wks (incompetent gyneco, a whole other story!)D&C last Thurs). May be crazy but am ttc straight away again (as Drs say that there is no reason physically not to + there seems to be all sorts of contradictory advice on the net etc) and am taking the +ve view that at least I now know I can get pg!

bluestar · 06/07/2004 16:16

Good luck miranda2. You could be the first graduate under a strict ownership of Azure!!

Lots of luck to all ~~*~

gothicmama · 06/07/2004 16:16

good for you lost in paris I thought that after my first mc - have dd now

Cyndii · 06/07/2004 16:47

I am ttc & I’ve read most of the last thread and I need help. What are the signs of ovulation? I’m a totally ignorant to the “signs” and if anyone could give me guidelines I’d really appreciate it. At the moment I had a mucus discharge yesterday so I think that now is the correct time. I’ve read about taking temperatures, mucus pains etc. I have a basic idea how the mucus theory works, I’m trying now since April and I’d love for it to happen this time. Thanks

lostinparis · 06/07/2004 16:57

Look for the discharge being like the white of eggs (stretches between your fingers) but frankly after months of looking at discharge/taking temp etc I'd say the best way is to forget all that and have sex every two days between AFs (I think I have the right abbrev. but am not to up on these!) + although it's for people who've had a m/c this looks like a really good idea: Http://www.pregnancyloss.info/sperm_meets_egg_plan.htm (the sperm meets egg plan! and that's what this thread is all about)

Azure · 06/07/2004 17:31

Ooh, lots of lovely people already. Cyndii you might like to try looking at the following website Fertility Friend and downloading the handback for useful mucus and charting information. Lostinparis - interesting link. Are you going to follow the plan? Miranda2, fingers crossed for this weekend. Come on out all you other lurkers.

Just signing in to the new thread. Nothing to report, CD8, ov. usually around CD14. Like lostinparis(?) not a fan of temps - mine are so erratic. CM is sometimes helpful. OPKs do the trick for me. Been ttc since September 2003, m/c at 10 weeks in November, two very early m/cs (4-5 weeks) with the last two cycles. So not finding it too difficult for sperm to find egg but might be some problem after. Still hopeful that we can do it without intervention.

Cyndii · 06/07/2004 17:42

Thank you girls for that. lostinparis what does af mean? I too am really lost with all the abbreviations some on cotton onto others I'm a little slow to figure out. But thanks! In addition not that I'm really bothered but is it true that once you have the first sign of mucus and if you make love that the chances are higher that you will have a boy and if after a few days it increases the chances on having a girl????? have a little boy nearly 3 already. Again thanks.

lostinparis · 06/07/2004 17:42

Azure, I'm going to try the plan once I've had an AF (no idea when that is likely to be!) until then I am just going for the once every other night (so any suggestions on when a girl should do a pg test if she has no idea of her cycle v welcome! although probably wishful thinking that will hit the jackpot so soon)poor DH is getting worried I'm only using him for his sperm!

Azure · 06/07/2004 17:48

AF = period (Aunt Flo)
CM = cervical mucus
LP = luteal phase
DPO = days past ovulation
HPT = home pregnancy test
BFP = what we'll all going to have soon (Big Fat Positive)

OP posts:
lostinparis · 06/07/2004 17:52

Cyndii AF is period (there is a list of acronyms I've just found as I have no idea most of the time either!). May have this wrong but I think the sperm that will produce girls are more sturdy (makes sense!) so they can hang around longer whereas male ones swim faster but don't last long - there's a tread on increasing your chances of having one sex or the other in this topic.

lostinparis · 06/07/2004 17:54

here it is - although I have no idea how to paste a link so that you can click and get there!www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1366&threadid=14795&stamp=031212205724

Cyndii · 06/07/2004 18:52

Thank you twiglet and other ladies enjoyed reading all that info, so tonight DH will have to obliged but the poor dear too thinks that he is being used for his sperm ~ but frankly at the moment he is ~ but I try not to let him know how desperate I am!

Thanks ladies and thanks for the abbreviations I feel part of the ttc club!!

mrsflowerpot · 06/07/2004 19:02

Hello, can I join in? Have been ttc number 2 for over a year. I have one ds, who is 3. I'm on day 20 of a slightly irregular 28-32 day cycle, but I think that if it happens this month, dh will have serious questions for me .

bluestar · 06/07/2004 19:28

Welcome mrsflowerpot I too have been ttc #2 for over a year with a mc last summer. Actually it is one year today that I found out I was pg. Still hoping that this month it will happen. Think I ov'd yesterday but plan to have another go tonight. Thank god big brother is on to keep me up late at night as dh works evenings and sometimes I fall asleep before he gets in the door!!

boogie2 · 06/07/2004 21:50

Hi, I've been ttc 1 year, lurking on TTC topic for 6 months so I'm going to give actually contributing to the discussion a go. I have 1DD, just had 2nd birthday.

Joffy · 06/07/2004 23:12

Hello. I am coming out of the lurking cupboard too. I am CD5. My two good friends who have a ds1 the same age as mine are both pregnant. I am fed up with them asking me why I am not. They both just decided it was time and got pregnant. I took nearly two years for ds1. I have been ttc for 6 months but dh is always travelling at the wrong time so I don't really know if I'm having trouble or if it's just timing.
I would love to take less than two months from now as Azure has promised!

ShouldKnowByFriday · 07/07/2004 01:35

Hi Azure...confession time. AF arrived at 2pm today on CD34!! Felt a strong cramp and I just knew, trotted to loo and hey presto. I wondered if I was in denial when I saw it and thought "Could it be spotting that I keep reading about???!!!"
Anyway, seriously need to test urine with Persona and there was a book that Joffy recommended, will look back on various threads to find title. Can somebody explain the temperature taking process please as might do this as well. Got preg first try with second baby so can't really understand...! It's a bit of a race you see as DH talking about having a vasectomy! Good luck to all those at mid cycle!

mrsflowerpot · 07/07/2004 01:40

Joffy, I know what you mean, I am going nuts with the people asking us when we're having another one! We haven't told anyone we're trying again (as dh says, if his mother gets wind of it his whole home town will be discussing his sperm count ) and they just all keep on asking.

Joffy · 07/07/2004 01:55

mrsflowerpot - I finally confessed to my mum this weekend that we were trying as I knew she was suspicious - it's the decaff coffee which gives me away. We are both coffee addicts so she knows I'm up to something when I get all healthy.

Joffy · 07/07/2004 02:00

shouldknowbyfriday - if this works, this is the book:

If not, it's:

It's really useful.
