Thanks kwick, I read that no ovulation means no corpus luteum and therefore no period. I stopped progesterone 2,5 days ago. But I should just really stop googling!! I know I'll be fine in the end and as shoes said one day, I should really take this as a trial run.

Rant over, I promise!

HopingForALittleOne · 29/01/2017 16:49

pez not sure if this helps but I remember you said you were offered progesterone after iui and so night before my iui I googled loads about it. I know the risks of dr google but actually I came to decision if they offered me it I would pay for the extra progesterone as it said it kept lining a bit longer in uterus so gave a bit longer / chance for sticky bean to stick.

As it happens nurse left me room after iui for as long as wanted and no one was around bad receptionist when I came out the room so I just left.

Not sure about timing thing but I just wanted you to know I would have took progesterone if offered / suggested to me.

I would defo follow up with clinic if it's on your mind (especially if advice of when to start it was wrong ) but also think kwick is right to move mind to next one and positive feelings.

I've kept busy seeing friends today which has taken my mind off things though I did briefly think this morning god is it only 1dpiui!!! I'm resigned to just get through this week and not even try to symptom spot until next week then I can go a bit crazy if I really have to. ( last night I did google if pets can detect pregnancy before you and will be watching my dog and cats for any unusual behaviour. Not relying on this but keeps me occupied lol) xx

HopingForALittleOne · 29/01/2017 16:51

pez quick question I thought had to keep warm and womb warm I've been getting into bed and putting my electric blanket on( sad I know but really delicious!) should I not be doing this? Xx

INeedNewShoes · 29/01/2017 17:00

Hoping - the electric blanket should be fine as long as you turn it off before you get into bed and it hasn't got too hot. Just don't be tempted to put a hot water bottle on your tummy - this is a definite no no in the tww.

Basically you want to be a comfortable temperature. If you feel comfortable (not too hot and not too cold) your womb should be the right temperature as a matter of course Smile

HopingForALittleOne · 29/01/2017 17:15

Thanks shoes that's reassuring :) just had dinner with lots of kale. My dad loves kale but I don't know why - I have to make myself eat it by reminding myself how good it is for me ( sigh)

INeedNewShoes · 29/01/2017 17:34

I love kale, especially with plenty of butter and black pepper. Its easy to overcook it though then its a bit meh!

kwick · 29/01/2017 18:22

Ooops sorry pickle I somehow missed your post. I have tried the Loreal clay - in favt have some of the mask left - may try tomorrow. But did not see any great improvement from shampoo and conditioner.

kwick · 29/01/2017 18:49

hoping I LOVE that you will be monitoring your pets!

I love kale too - although not a fan of kale crisps!

So its official: I have diarrhoea Sad not sure where dodgey stomach has come from but it is bloody uncomfortable.
Also just to really put youoff your dinner I have got a mahoosive spot on my back...

Sadthat sucks kwick sorry your feeling squiffy with giant spot....good job your toilets working ok again

MiriAmmerman · 29/01/2017 19:28

Pez - DP never gets AF until 3 days after stopping progesterone; don't worry about that. You will start either tomorrow or Tuesday.

However, the progesterone thing has me and DP in a panic now. They always tell us to do the progesterone the same night as the IUI (it wasn't an error with you - they tell us that every time, which is 5 now). Never occurred to us to question it. Now we're really worried that DP has been prevented from ovulating 4 times ( she did conceive cycle 3, so it didn't interfere that time...) We're having a follow up tomorrow afternoon so this is one of the questions we will be asking.

MiriAmmerman · 29/01/2017 19:29

Oh and well done caution - your weight loss is amazing!

Pez82 · 29/01/2017 19:55

Miri, so sorry, I didn't mean to worry you, I thought this was an one off error from the nurse who handed me the meds, not the clinic's stance on this. I even thought this would be my word against them as they would probably say the nurse said to say the following day etc. and that I misunderstood.

I am calling them in the morning as I really need to understand why they would say something that goes against everything I've seen online. In theory I guess we took the 1st suppository at least 24h after the surge so let's not panic (says Pez who's been freaking out all day)

Thanks for telling me about the 3 day wait. I know that personally I'm not going to take the progesterone next time unless I get tested to check for deficiency first.

Ah ah Pickle, thanks for giving me a giggle with the toilet joke! Kwick, you're definitely now getting the symptoms of a pregnancy in full bloom - ouch for the diarrhoea

CautionHormone · 29/01/2017 21:07

pez try not to panic because sometimes stress can put off AF too. Especially because you got a BFN, and the last few days have been ultra stressful for you... You should get it within the next few days as others have said but if you don't then I'd definitely be consulting your clinic Flowers

Thank you miri!! It's been a hard old slog and I am proud of myself but I still feel like it isn't going to be enough to please him! Four days and counting - hoping I can lose another 2lb before then!

kwick sorry you're getting uncomfortable symptoms - but enjoy them all the same!

MiriAmmerman · 29/01/2017 21:08

Pez don't worry - I'm glad you said something. We're going to discuss it with the consultant tomorrow afternoon. I think we're going to try a cycle without progesterone this time too; none of DP's blood tests have indicated a deficiency and she gets a lot of side effects from it, plus we're now concerned about the ovulation.
I'll let you know what happens.

pickle162 · 29/01/2017 21:44

Hope you both get some answers pez and miri
This journey really is torturous 😫 3days 11hours still appointment on thu-feels like a lifetime away! Least once the stressful busy working week starts another week will wiz by (I feel like I'm wishing my life away)

Karendvm · 30/01/2017 02:37

Really trying to catch up. pez I took progesterone the last cycle and did get a bfp. I also started the night of my iui. I was fairly sure I had ovulated already anyway, seeing as I had all the pain I usually associate with ovulation the day before my iui. I do question starting the meds day of the iui. I have seen most other people start 3 days after, which biologically makes more sense. That would be when your cl really starts to kick in anyway. I will be questioning my office more this cycle. I'm getting fed up. Af arrived today, earlier than I expected according to Ovia, but my miscarriage has thrown off its calculations I think, and I'm pretty much right on time according to my old cycles. I go on Tuesday for day 3. I'm a bit stressed about the timing as my iui will fall on a weekend when I am on call, but I will try to figure that out tomorrow.

kwick hope you feel better soon.

kwick · 30/01/2017 07:47

karen deep breaths... remember you are in perfect time and everything will work out fine timing wise.

pez let us know how you get on with clinic.

Ladies I think it is really sweet that you are happy for my symptoms but diarrhoea is not a normal symptom for this time - constipation is! I grant spot on back is hormonal and almost constant nausea is too.
Also am in agony with my feet today - I am on bus on the way to work and it is as though they are cramping. Have not had the pain this bad for a while. I must put all this to the back of my mind as I have a really busy work day ahead.

pickle not long now!!!!

StorkAhoy · 30/01/2017 08:58

Hello ladies!

To add to the conversation, but from a different perspective: On my ivf cycle I started progesterone 2 days after egg collection i.e. Ovulation had very much happened. Obviously for me it was different as I medically triggered ovulation, and then my eggs were harvested, but timeline wise it fits with what karen is saying i.e. Two days after.
So the question might be, because we are all interested, why start progesterone so early with an iui?

I hope you get the answer you need from your limit.

Did late get an answer re icsi v ivf at all?

Pez82 · 30/01/2017 09:31

Morning,
I just spoke to the clinic and they were rather rude when I challenged what happened. They kept on saying I should book a follow up to discuss this but I don't think it's right I pay for this (£175) so I said no.
I now have to send an email to the clinic manager to explain my concerns.

I'll keep you updated

MiriAmmerman · 30/01/2017 10:20

Hi Pez

We'll be discussing it in our follow up today, so I'll let you know what happens.
Re: charging for follow ups: If you book one when the nurse calls with your HCG beta result you get it free; if you phone reception afterwards they tell you that only IVF-ers get a free follow up. This is because the reception staff never seem to know what is going on.
You are entitled to a free follow up (we have had one every cycle, and the pricing structure is clear on this). However reception never have a fucking clue. Email your team (don't know which you are - we're Purple) and insist on your free follow up.
NB it wasn't a mistake that they didn't charge you for the blood test on Fri; that is included in the cost of the IUI. It's only the drugs that aren't.

Latenightreader · 30/01/2017 12:13

Hello! Sorry I didn't come back over the weekend - I had a lovely day out with a friend on Saturday and a mostly internet free day attempting to tidy the house on Sunday (if the house is less cluttered I hope I'll feel more 'grown up' and legitimately ready for parenting)!

I phoned the clinic on Friday to make sure that they had received the email and was told it had been passed to the doctor. She rang me on Saturday and confirmed that she had recommended ICSI because they have found that you get a much higher rate of fertilisation and so have more/better quality embryos to choose from. I have decided that I am going to trust her on this - I have read various articles but I think the best thing for my mental health at the moment is trust... There are so many decisions and so many things to consider, that I have t believe that I am making the right decision so I can put the decision behind me and concentrate on the next bit - does that make sense?

Miri and Pez so sorry about your BFNs.

Caution what a difference between the photos!

Hoping best of luck for the 2WW. I am really relieved to hear about the electric blanket because I love mine and was worried about using it...

Cherry so sorry your friend isn't being supportive - some people really don't get it, do they.

Pez The Archers is real! I've been listening all my life and on a holiday in the area when I was about ten I made my Dad take me to the village on which Ambridge is supposed to be based... I love the idea of it being taught as cultural fact. Hope you get answers re: the treatment.

Kwick Such plumbing woes! Fingers crossed they get sorted soon.

witchmountain · 30/01/2017 12:59

Late that makes perfect sense - a decision, any decision, and just get on with it! In the long run it won't matter - when you have a baby it will just be one of things you barely remember stressing about.

Come and join us on the Archers thread if you're not there already!

Your weekend sounds lovely. I also spent a lot of time clearing up and fixing stuff at home. I've got someone catsitting next week because I'm away and I don't want her having to deal with household malfunctions!

Latenightreader · 30/01/2017 13:16

There's an Archers thread? I shall investigate!

Latenightreader · 30/01/2017 13:55

Oh wonderful! I have just caught up after skipping a couple of weeks - I struggled with the 'surprise baby' story. Why does it happen so easily in fiction? Same with Helen's IUI, which was successful first time (not that I'm bitter after all these years)...
