A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

pyjamas how are you getting on? On your CB monitor, will it always show low on your first reading of the cycle? I had some sticks leftover from last month so I'm using the same monitor. Cd10 today and did my first reading since the static smiley last month.

Pyjamas81 · 26/08/2016 14:49

Hi Eva - nursing a monster hangover today! Bad pyjamas... Yes, once it shows peak it resets for the next cycle and the first reading will show as low to set the baseline. I'm on CD18 and 7/8DPO and still not stressing! Massive increase in temp this morning, but I'm putting that down to the booze!

How are you doing today Alice? I felt a bit down for the day then decided to distract myself and go out with DH.

Am I the only one who feels like they are losing their mind during each 2ww??

I am totally relaxed pre-ovulation, but as soon as I start getting symptoms (I have been getting weird post ovulation/PMS symptoms since we started ttc), I get myself into a googling frenzy to see if this particular symptom could mean that I am pregnant. The worst part is that I have been getting new and bizarre symptoms each month - foot/leg cramps, pelvic cramps, vivid dreams, severe bloating, gas, creamy cm, heartburn.

Arrgghhh! I'm losing my mind! Even writing this I paused for a minute to consider whether the fact that my bloating this month has been worse than usual could be a sign. Seriously, I'm going crazy, roll on a BFP - then I can obsess for nine months about all the symptoms that will bring!! Yikes! Wink

19Laura88 · 26/08/2016 17:40

Hello all, I am 28 and me and the hubby decided at the beginning of August to start trying...I am new to the message boards and abbreviations so bear with me! My cycle can be from 27 to 31 days but usually around 28. Like a few others I have been obsessing about every little thing and googling to see if it could be a sign! I am only on month one but am already dreading AF and hate the thought of having to go through this for months! Wishing you all luck 😊 I think these boards are great because I don't want to tell my friends or family we are trying and its nice to have women to talk to who are going through this too. Hoping AF doesn't arrive this weekend/early next week but I don't think I'll be that lucky, I'm at the toilet all the time checking! Feel like a mad person! Xx

Eva30 · 26/08/2016 18:14

Thanks pj - oh Christ haha good luck with the hangover, sounds like a good night!!
hi laura and lia you're in good company here with the crazy symptom sporting! Lia how many dpo are you? Laura hope AF doesn't show this weekend.

MoonlightMojitos · 26/08/2016 19:22

lia tell me about it. 2pdo and this is going to the be the longest 2 weeks ever....

Welcome laura!

19Laura88 · 26/08/2016 20:46

Thank you! I can't tell you how much August has dragged over haha, I'm trying not to buy an early pregnancy test, hoping to wait and see what happens this weekend and do one maybe Tuesday if nothing happens. It's difficult to know when your periods late when your cycle isn't the exact same length every month 😏

WarwickAlice · 27/08/2016 00:10

Hey pyjamas, thanks for asking. I'm feeling a bit better, but it still upsets me when I think about it, but I'm sure I'll get over it. Took the day off work so had a day to myself and I feel like I really needed it. Seen my parents and sister this evening and feel uplifted. Tomorrow will be a better day, I am determined xx

Another newbie here

Age: 32
TTC #1
Cycle 6 Day 11

This is the first cycle where I have used opks as last cycle was really long due to jet lag so I knew Ovia would be out. I just got a flashing smiley face. In normal circumstances I would get right on with dtd, however my parents have decided to come stay with us for the next 3 nights. Sad So we either work on being really quiet or miss an opportunity. Hoping peak will be after they have gone.

MrsCW86 · 27/08/2016 07:50

Hi everyone, catch up on me:

Age 30

Cycle 3
CD 10

So very similar to some of you ladies!

Alice it's normal to feel this way, we spend so much of our lives trying NOT to conceive I think we get a false idea about how easy it is to actually get pregnant!

Hi laura and lia, welcome to the dark side! I've been on the TTC bus for nearly a year (with a break from it in the middle) and every new cycle I tell myself to chill the eff out but in the tww I practically get blisters on my fingers from the mad googling...

Hope you're recovered today pyjamas - I'm off to a wedding today so plan on feeling pretty horrendous tomorrow WineGrin

MrsCW86 · 27/08/2016 07:53

Monkey that's so frustrating! DH and I dtd on the floor to avoid bed squeaking (sorry if tmi!) so maybe try that if you don't want to miss ov?!

Monkeyandthebear · 27/08/2016 08:02

Haha mrscw love the suggestion! We live in an old house with the most squeky floor boards in the world. I think it would let the neighbours know we were dtd never mind my parents in the next room Grin. It did make me chuckle though about the crazy things we do when TTC

Pyjamas81 · 27/08/2016 08:27

Morning all! Am over the hangover and risen from the dead ha ha.

Glad you're feeling a bit better Alice Smile

For some reason, in my head, I just don't think I'm pregnant this month - it's almost like I'm doing the reverse and convincing myself of the opposite this time around to avoid disappointment! Fine by me, result will be the same regardless but at least am getting on with other things Grin

Okay...So.... This is cycle 1 for us. I have irregular cycles and my longest in recent months was 39 days but normally they have been around 30-35. I tested on day 31 and got a BFN. Past two days I have been horribly grumpy, tired and have had very swollen, sore boobs. Not unusual for me as part of PMS though. This morning (day 35) with still no AF in sight I lost patience and decided to test again and...

BFP!

Absolutely stunned tbh. Used a digital Clearblue and it says 'Pregnant 1-2'. DH has just run out to get some more tests as he can't believe it. I can't either really.

lalaland1985 · 27/08/2016 10:41

Congratulations VIDA!!!

I am rooting for you SKIPPER! Come on sperm and egg.. Do your thing!

On on CD29. I'm really not sure when I ovulated. I don't think I'm pregnant. No signs what so ever. Next cycle I'll do the opks everyday at the same day. This was our first cycle.

Going by my dates I should be in my FW during our holiday to Italy/Sicily!

Blissfulignorance · 27/08/2016 10:51

Congrats vida!

So AF has almost gone now (thank god) and will be having a good go this cycle however, due to go away in September on a beach hol and AF is due in the middle of it. I would normally take norethisterone for the week and avoid her but if I'm trying now I don't know what's for the best? AF for me is torture every month and I would hate to have it while away but also too impatient to wait til we are back to start again. Help!

orlstar · 27/08/2016 20:33

Hello ladies - my first post!

Age 29
TTC #1
Cycle #1
CD 35...

... I had BFN this morning, my cycle is normally c.30-32 days. I get IBS and it's been the worst the last week so I don't know if that's affecting AF coming

Difficultyear2015 · 28/08/2016 06:38

What I thought was AF lasted a grand total of ...

1 day!!

No cramps at all, just enough for one pad, that's it.
I'm still counting it as AF just so I can count a new cycle ... I think that's ok haha

orlstar · 28/08/2016 08:54

Which pill were you on Difficult? I came off a progesterone only in January and spotted for 6 weeks until I had something that looked like a cycle.

Eva30 · 28/08/2016 09:00

How are we all doing?
Congratulations vida!
monkey how did it go with DTD & squeaking?!
difficult how frustrating, yes I'd do the same. So was that 43 day cycle for cycle 1? Hope they get shorter for you!

I'm on cd12 now, got my first flashing smiley on clear blue monitor this morningGrin still trying to DTD every other day. Have been trying all the tricks in the book to improve CM but can't say I've noticed too much difference yet. No EWCM, maybe just slightly 'stickier' than usual, TMI.

Pyjamas81 · 28/08/2016 09:08

Yay for flashing smiley Eva! You're revving up Grin

Congratulations vida!!!!

How annoying difficult, but yes, I'd do the same! AF only lasts two days for me and the second day is really light.

I'm on CD20, 9 or 10 dpo and no Impending AF or pregnancy symptoms. Totally symptomless! If my luteal phase stays the same, AF should be due on 31st but am holding out until the 2nd to test if AF is a no show.

eek fingers crossed for this week pjs!

Pyjamas81 · 28/08/2016 09:31

Thanks Eva! So weird - I feel absolutely nothing either way. I've pretty much convinced myself that I'm out this month, so I have no expectations!

OP posts:
MoonlightMojitos · 28/08/2016 10:15

Fx pj!

difficult I don't know how you didn't poas again! How long is af for you usually? Fx for you this cycle.

I'm getting so impatient already... I'm 99% sure we missed it this month so I'm just impatient for af to come so I can go for it next cycle! Decided to up my game next cycle with lots of exercise, cutting out alcohol and caffeine, healthy eating and opks for first time. Although I am already quite aware of the fact it's likely I will now have a summer baby which I was adamant I didn't want. If we conceived next cycle it would be due mid June, so fx for that at the latest. I really wouldn't want to be due July or August but after how hard it is going through all this I don't think I would be able to put it off for a few months to miss the summer!

lalaland1985 · 28/08/2016 10:20

Just out of curiosity - what's wrong with a summer baby moon?
