Hi ladies
I'm trying to conceive no. 2. My aim was to ttc from January of this year - however due to one thing or another (very stressful time at work!) I have not been giving it my all. I have now decided I need to focus on ttc no.2 as I am very conscious of the growing age gap! Please join for a friendly chat and to hopefully support each other!

Stats
Age - 35
Ttc - #2
CD - 21
DS - 3 years 10months!

Don't want to obsess about it! However I think it's inevitable!

I'm a physicist in a hospital, binky. Tried being an academic for a while, but it didn't suit me so I'm back in clinical practice.

We haven't really had loads of holidays since DD was born - lots of making-a-long-weekend-of-it, but only two actual holidays - a week in a Pembrokeshire cottage when she was just two and five days in Disneyland Paris in June (last term time holiday for many many years). Those places in France looks great - the town where I grew up was twinned with a town near there, so we used to do lots of exchanges, invariably involving a trip to Futuroscope!

AF was 2-3 days late (and counting) so I got a bit excited but got a BFN. So fed up with this now. Feels worse every month. I had absolutely no symptoms so was telling myself not to get excited but you can't really help it.
Thinking of going private to get a consultation but a) costs a bomb and b) I don't live near any of the clinics so would involve a lot of travel.

binkybunny · 05/11/2016 07:03

Oh rubbish blackberries I hope your bfp comes soon.

I got a bfn again this morning. Af due today so I guess I'm out this month but I'll wait and see.

blackcherries · 05/11/2016 14:19

thanks binky, AF still not arrived so will test again tomorrow morning. That will be cd31 and all my cycles have been 25 or 26 days with one 28er so definitely odd, but simply CANNOT get my hopes up again.

I used a clearblue test and after some desperate googling last night I saw some ancient threads saying Boots own-brand tests are more sensitive. Last times I tested and got BFNs I got AF same day or the next. (not trying to get your hopes up either but also wishing you the best...!) What a rollercoaster, I can see why people give up 'properly' trying as second-guessing every last thing is doing my head in!

binkybunny · 06/11/2016 21:01

Well AF has other arrived and I've been feeling sick and faint lots. I'm sending DH to Boots tomorrow!

Sorry you got a BFN too Sad

Lulu298 · 07/11/2016 08:08

Hello please may I join?

I'm 36 and my lo is nearly 2. We're on cycle 5.

Xx

Spindelina · 07/11/2016 09:37

Hello and welcome LuLu. Did DC1 take a few months, or is this new to you?

binky and black, sorry to hear you are both still in no-man's-land Cake.

I'm on CD26, which is when AF arrived last month. Have more hope this month - we actually DTD an appropriate amount, which is a start, right? I did have a day of being ravenously hungry towards the end of last week too.

notparticularlypatient · 07/11/2016 11:53

Hi there, hope you don't mind me joining. This thread has been a joy to read during the last weeks, and as I suspect that it may take some time before I get pregnant (if I do at all) I might as well join. I am TTC '#3, but it will be my second with my current partner. DS was born during my early 20s, while DD is now 13 months. I am, however, 40, and anxious that my age might be an obstacle. It took us about six months to conceive DD. This is 3rd cycle trying, and I am on cd30. I have always had irregular cycles though, and they vary between 28 and 37 days. I use a fertility computer, and this cycle it said that I ov'd on cd28. Sounds unlikely, but you never know. Anyway, sorry for long post, just wanted you to know a bit about me (since I have read the thread and know about you Smile).

binkybunny · 07/11/2016 13:30

Welcome notparticularly and lulu

Well the bitch AF arrived today. I'm gutted even though we're only on month 1 it would have worked out well in terms of dates.

14 days till ov and counting (unless my body decides it's not going to give me my usual 28 day cycle again!)

Lulu298 · 07/11/2016 16:57

Thanks binky and spindelina! Conceiving ds took about 18 cycles (with a possible polycystic ovaries diagnosis unconfirmed by fertility docs as got pregnant the next cycle after the scan!) so cycle 5 and counting isn't new. Doesn't seem to make the stress any less though annoyingly!

Sorry to hear of AF arriving and mc losses Sad

By the way binky were you on the October 2014 antenatal bus? Your username looks really familiar!

binkybunny · 07/11/2016 20:20

Yes I was Lulu I take it you were too? Sorry I seem to have lost most of my memory with the 1st pregnancy Grin

I feel really bad whinging when I'm only on month 1 and got pregnant first go last time but I'd forgotten how old consuming TTC can be! 18 cycles I think I'd be going out of my mind. I hope it happens faster this time for you.

Hope your hungry day is a good sign for a BFP spindelina

Just to compound the misery of AF arriving I've started really suddenly this afternoon with an awful cold thats meant I've hardly left the sofa since getting home. DD has curled up under a blanket with me and DH has been a star running round!

Lulu298 · 09/11/2016 21:07

Hi yes I was! Seems so long ago. Smile

Let's hope it happens soon for everyone on this thread! FX.

binkybunny · 10/11/2016 16:08

It does seem like forever ago and it feels different this time. I'm still excited and obsessed but I think it's because my rose tinted glasses have been removed there's not the same mystery surrounding pregnancy and childbirth. IYSWIM

Spindelina · 11/11/2016 15:06

CD30 and no sign of AF. Think I'm going to POAS on Sunday - think it will probably be positive. Which is great, but does fill me with 'here we go again' sort of feelings. I haven't enjoyed early pregnancy very much this year, and would quite like to make it to second trimester at some point.

If I am pg, my LMP-based due date will be 5 days before DD's 5th birthday. Oops. She was 12 days past due date, so hopefully I'll make it well past her birthday...

blackcherries · 11/11/2016 15:09

good luck spin!

binkybunny · 11/11/2016 21:46

Good luck Spindelina

Did AF arrive blackcherries?

blackcherries · 11/11/2016 22:32

Yes thanks, was a week late, but was glad to see it in the end as meant I could move on, was driving myself mad wondering what if...!

Spindelina · 13/11/2016 07:46

BFP for me.

Mind if I hang around here for a bit? Last time I joined an antenatal thread, I had to leave after two days.

blackcherries · 13/11/2016 07:56

Ahhh congratulations! wonderful news and good luck x

binkybunny · 13/11/2016 14:37

Congratulations and yes please do hang around, hopefully we'll have a few more soon and we can move over when we're all ready!

I was so upset at AF arriving too blackcherries but as you say at least it broke the uncertainty. Let's hope we get some BFP's for Christmas, it would be the best gift ever.

notparticularlypatient · 13/11/2016 17:31

congratulations Spindelina, and please stay! A lot of inspiration for the rest of us to know that BFPs actually exists. Although also fully understand the need to stay hopeful but cautious. So sorry for your previous losses, must have been really hard. Sorry also to those of you who had AF arriving, yes, lets hope for a BFP for Christmas Smile. As for me I am on my longest cycle for a very long time, but AF should arrive in a couple of days if my fertility computer estimated OD right. Do not feel pregnant, so pretty sure I will be in the all I want for Christmas is a BFP.

Lulu298 · 14/11/2016 20:33

Congratulations spin!

Spindelina · 14/11/2016 21:07

Thanks all!

I'll email the consultant about a possible early scan in a few days - today hasn't been the best day to send NHS email (its in the news - email servers clogged with reply-to-alls).

Lulu298 · 15/11/2016 07:55

Good luck spin. Yes saw that in the news. Bless Roslyn - bad day at the office. Blush

binkybunny · 20/11/2016 07:13

Hi ladies how are you all?

I'm in the FW now and I think will ovulate tomorrow but have been away for the weekend with my parents so been tricky trying to DTD. Managed to persuade them to go shopping yesterday while DD napped Grin
