Hi ladies
I'm trying to conceive no. 2. My aim was to ttc from January of this year - however due to one thing or another (very stressful time at work!) I have not been giving it my all. I have now decided I need to focus on ttc no.2 as I am very conscious of the growing age gap! Please join for a friendly chat and to hopefully support each other!

Stats
Age - 35
Ttc - #2
CD - 21
DS - 3 years 10months!

Don't want to obsess about it! However I think it's inevitable!

To be fair I look quite pregnant - I'm naturally slim but haven't properly exercised in about 3 years since I got pg first. After lunch I definitely have a big belly that makes me look quite pregnant. Usually I try to suck it in if I'm walking around the office but obv not enough!
The poor woman was quite embarrassed. At the time I was in the 2-week-wait so was hoping maybe she had some intuition and I was actually properly pregnant! But it was not to be. Trying not to dwell, I know I need to get in shape but I don't want to be jumping around or jogging when ttc!

oliversmummy26 · 17/10/2016 09:55

Blackcherries absolutely not, TTC is exercise enough as far as I'm concerned!! Wink

iemma321q · 17/10/2016 20:22

Hi all.

Anyone else testing this week? I tested at the weekend and got a BFP. Now just anxiously hoping that all goes ok in the next few weeks.

oliversmummy26 · 18/10/2016 10:26

Congratulations iemma that's wonderful news!! Good luck to you Smile

oliversmummy26 · 20/10/2016 11:36

Just took my 4th test in the last week and got a faint positive line Grin !! It was only a cheapy amazon test, so will test tonight with a clearblue with DH, but I think we could be on! So excited, due date at the moment would be 27th June 2017, the day after my son's 5th birthday - what a birthday present!!

iemma321q · 20/10/2016 22:46

Brilliant news Oliver!!! Let us know how the test goes.

oliversmummy26 · 21/10/2016 09:57

Confirmed with a CB digital test this morning, approx. 4 weeks, doctors appointment booked for Monday.
I feel terribly guilty to have caught on our first month of trying and wish lots and lots of baby dust to all you lovely ladies! Star Flowers

Spindelina · 21/10/2016 14:26

Wow! I look away for a few days and we have 2 BFPs! Congratulations olivers & iemma.

I'm in the DTD zone. Month three of trying, which is longer than its ever taken before (our stats are 2(DD)-1-2), but the last two months haven't exactly involved a lot of sex - wasn't that the advice from the fertility expert discussed on this thread several months ago? Getting impatient.

blackcherries · 22/10/2016 22:17

congratulations olivers and iemma!!

Trying not to get hopes up, as I'm already past my 'ideal' age gap. We're also in DTD zone. So far our "strategy" has been try every other day and when I get the 'peak ovulation' on the OPK try 3 days in a row, with a 'bonus round' after that - this is from 'the Sperm Meets Egg plan' booklet (free on kindle). Hasn't exactly helped so far, yet. Ovulation was Thu or Fri so DTD both nights, wondering if to go for it again tonight or if should wait a day or so.

blackcherries · 22/10/2016 22:19

btw, I'm probably due a smear test early next year, but I assume I can't really do it while TTC? I thought you had to go in the middle of your cycle.

Purpleboa · 24/10/2016 08:29

Hi everyone! Not sure how active this thread is, but can I join?

I'm 37, DD is 16 months. I've been off the pill since July, so this is maybe our 4th cycle? I'm due on any day now. Been having cramps for a few days which isn't too like me. Googled it (I know, bad) and it seems cramps are very common in v early pregnancy so had convinced myself a bit! But POAS this morning and it was a BFN.

I know we're not as far down the road as some, and it's early days. But DD1 came along after 2 months of trying - she was practically a honeymoon baby! I was 35, so wasn't expecting it to happen so quickly.

We're struggling a bit too to have opportunities to DTD - DD is not a great sleeper and we're both permanently knackered! We're making a lot more effort now, so maybe that will make a difference.

Keep telling myself it will happen when it's meant to, but keep fretting - I'm getting older and am worried about my energy levels for no 2! Also feeling very broody.

It's good to vent on here as I can't in RL. I know I'm super lucky to have a wonderful healthy DD - some of my friends would give anything for the chance to even try for that. But we'd so love for DD to have a sibling!

Ah well. Sorry for the rant! Just waiting for AF to finally arrive then we can get on with hoping again Grin

On the plus side...I've got a wedding next month which I can now drink at and fit into a fabulous dress!

MrsATtc · 24/10/2016 08:50

Hi everyone hope you don't mind me joining you?
I am not so good with all the abbreviations used here, so:
I am 36
Ttc #3
Had mirena removed after 4 years.
Have no idea where I am in my cycle been trying to have sex every other day at least. Not long been trying, but I already feel like I'm obsessing. My children are 10 & 7, so there will be quite an age gap if we are successful. Not sure when to test. Had mirena removed on 13th October, had light bleeding on the 8th for a few days prior to removal.

MrsATtc · 24/10/2016 08:54

Should add, I know how lucky I am to already have 2 children, and if that's my lot then I'm blessed.
Do you think I should allow 6 weeks from the liget bleed and test from there?

Spindelina · 24/10/2016 09:34

Hello and welcome Purple and Mrs. This thread goes through phases of being active and then quietens down (maybe we are all spending our time DTD?!).

Purple, I've had 2 MC since the beginning of this thread, one of which allowed me to drink on holiday and the other for my birthday. Silver linings!

Mrs I've no idea about counting, sorry!

blackcherries · 24/10/2016 21:11

Welcome both!
purpleboa you might find it takes several months for your cycle to settle down. It certainly went that way for me.

Buddahbelly · 29/10/2016 12:29

Hello everyone, long time no post. Had to top posting for a while as I was driving myself mad, Sadly got to 6 weeks pregnant again last month but it was not to be, Ive now been referred by my new gp to recurrent miscarriage clinic.

First appt next week so actually looking forward to finding out whats happening, gp thinks I may have a disorder that I cannot remember for the life of me and says it explains recurrent mc's in most circumstances, so finger crossed for me! Good luck to the rest of you and the newcomers!

Spindelina · 29/10/2016 13:30

Buddah, very sad to hear that you've had another loss, but good to hear that they are looking into it. I've been told to contact someone (who I work with, so that's not going to be awkward...) for an early scan if/when it happens again. Fingers crossed for both of us!

CD17 for me. DH had (another) cold last week, but bravely stepped up to the plate! We shall see in two weeks' time.

blackcherries · 30/10/2016 21:20

buddah so sorry to hear. Hope things look up for you soon.

AF due soon, although my app has gone a bit haywire and is going straight from CD26 to CD2... ?!

Buddahbelly · 02/11/2016 13:30

Thanks both of you, It doesnt even register anymore which is kind of sad. Hopefully this will change and they will figure out what's going on with me so fingers crossed!

binkybunny · 02/11/2016 13:33

Can I join please!

Age 35
Ttc # 2
DD 2yrs (and not sleeping)
CD 25

First month and we didn't really try but dtd over ov so I'm on the tww. I poas yesterday but bfn. Af due Saturday. I'm really worried about my age/ secondary infertility and how I'll cope with morning sickness with a toddler and ft work!

blackcherries · 02/11/2016 13:54

welcome binky
huge sympathies for the no-sleeping LO! I'm sure my months of trying have failed partly because I'm always either really suffering with a terrible cold or flu or generally feeling run down... was never like this before having a child at nursery!
I'm also worried about the same things, although I think reports of fertility 'dropping off a cliff' in your 30s have been exaggerated or at least often based on data that's centuries old:

binkybunny · 02/11/2016 15:01

Thanks for the link Black cherries I love that article! Urgh to nursery germs I've never been so ill so much since she started

Spindelina · 02/11/2016 19:39

I got some good news today! Back when I joined this thread, I said I wanted to get pg in July because my hours were dropping at the end of November (pg in July would make my maternity pay based on Sept/Oct payslips, so I'd have been paid more for my first eight weeks of mat leave that for my final three months of pregnancy!). Well, I didn't manage that, but did manage pg in August - not that it went anywhere. Anyhooooo... as of today, I'm permanently full time Smile Smile Smile

So I can get pg at my leisure - no rush! And we can afford to go on holiday - where's good for a newborn (optimistic, me) and a five year old in August?

Spindelina · 02/11/2016 19:39

Oh, and welcome, binky!

binkybunny · 03/11/2016 08:37

That's great news about your job. What do you do? (Sorry not read the whole 37 pages of thread yet!)

Are you holidaying in UK or abroad? There's a fab place I've seen in France that we are considering next year. Depending if/when I'm due. The link is www.childfriendlygites.com/
