Would love to hear from anyone taking this route ttc. I'm DOR and dh has low morphology but an amazing count and motility. So whenever af shows up in two weeks or so I'm starting Clomid, then doing a hcg trigger injection and then IUI. Hoping for success getting 2-3 good eggs to drop and putting the swimmers practically next to them!

Thomas, how are you doing? How's everyone else?
still following the thread and thinking of you all! Hope you all get you BFP soon. I know it will happen as you're all so determined!
Had my 12 week scan yesterday (NHS dating scan). Babi was well behaved, did her measurements and as a result it put me at 13+4 and not 13+1. So new due date is 16/06/17. Babi was hiccuping a bit which was ironic since I'm not a drinker haha but otherwise she looked adorable! Off to keep knitting blankets and other little bits.
Good luck to all!!! 🤗🤗🤗

Hi Russkispy, congrats again. Lovely to see the scan and so exciting! Can you remind me how you got pregnant in the end? Was it clomid and IUI? If so, which cycle?

As for me, saw dr after last failed cycle who said to try 2-3 more medicated IUIs before discussing further. Seems to think there is some value in it. So, I started another cycle and am now CD10. Just had a monitoring scan and it seems I have one dominant follicle of 26mm and 2 other follicles of 15mm. I have to say I freaked out as the dr scanning me thought it was a cyst plus I wasn't expecting 3 follicles. Saw consultant and he said it was a large follicle and not a cyst as it was not there at the baseline scan on CD3. I had no idea follicles could even get that big. He won't trigger me until tomorrow at the earliest and think we may try to hold out a day or two longer. Have convinced myself they are triggering me too early, CD10 or 11 as follicles get big so quickly (even when unmedicated) whereas naturally I don't usuually get the LH surge until CD12. Can't help feeling this cycle will be a dud too due to large follice. Anyone else had this?

How is everyone else?

Russkispy · 14/12/2016 15:10

Thomas, that sounds so exciting! I'm sure the doctors know what they do! Also good to know you respond well to Clomid, growing follicles that big!! Your other 2 will be also grown by 2mm tomorrow and the day after. The 26mm sounds huge but again, the clinic knows what they're doing! I hope it works out for you in the end! Please keep us posted.
We had 5 natural and then I decided to push things a bit and went for Clomid+trigger+IUI. And it worked from the first time. Considering myself very lucky as I know some ladies struggle for ages!
Good luck for tomorrow!

Thomasina76 · 14/12/2016 15:44

Thanks Russkispy. We will see. I think they will trigger me tomorrow and do the IUI on Friday although I am now wondering if we should cancel this cycle and just do TI. From what I am reading the bigger follicles are more likely to be abnormal. That said, I had two perfect 24mm follicles last month and it didn't happen so who knows. Just not sure taking clomid was the right thing as a I ovulate naturally. Might just be a case of waiting for the right egg. Not sure I want to risk another cycle like this where taking clomid has actually hindered it rather than helped.

Russkispy · 14/12/2016 15:57

It's a tough one! Mind you I always ovulated naturally! Even a cycle before IUI. I don't think Clomid hindered anything for me. I take it you're doing it at he private clinic?! They should really guide you, making sure you're not full of questions and doubts! I totally trusted my clinic and I believe they took a good care of me. I just really really hope it works out for you this time! Will be thinking of you

LittleFox10 · 14/12/2016 17:10

I've had 2 rounds of Clomid and have fallen pregnant on the second round. I'm still very early in pregnancy and have an early scan booked for Monday. Fingers crossed for you all. Xx

Thomasina76 · 15/12/2016 14:15

Well I definitely don't totally trust them or any other dr for that matter! It's a reputable clinic but massively busy and not a lot of understanding or sympathy. Guess they see a lot of people. Just think it won't work this time and think that clomid didn't help at all as I didn't even get the one good mature follicle that i get when ovulating naturally. Just had another scan and the follicle is now a monstrous 28mm and the other is 15mm. Still no idea when they will do the IUI. I say this every month but think this it it for me and we will give up after this and just see if it happens naturally. The way I feel at the moment is that I trust my owb body to get it right more than I trust the clinic.

Hi! I'm the op, haven't been back on here in a while! After 3 unsuccessful cycles and a bunch more blood tests and scans I've been diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Failure and told I need donor eggs. It's not even worth me doing ivf as I don't respond at all to stims so at nearly 39 we will be going to the Czech Republic next year for treatment! Am very optimistic as the success rates are 90% in 3 cycles, and despite my dh having only 1% morphology they'll be able to use his swimmers for icsi.
I haven't had a read through all the pages yet but congrats to any bfp and hello if there's anyone still here from the beginning!

Thomas, I'm so sorry about your doctor and clinic! They should never treat patients like that especially when one pays so much money for any private treatments! Have you considered to switch the clinics?

Snowdog, hope the clinic abroad helps you! I did my only IUI in Riga and it worked from the first time! And the care was excellent! Good luck!

Thomasina76 · 16/12/2016 16:55

Hi Russkispy - yes, we moved once already as this one was cheaper (though still not that cheap!) I think they are ok at what they do but this treatment clearly has limitations and low success rates. From what I have heard from friends, other leading clinics (e.g. ARGC etc) are equally chaotic, just think it's the way they operate.

So, I did trigger last night and IUI today. Again being told inconsistent things - my main consultant said large follicle is not a cyst. Dr today said it could be but still seemed positive it will work. Afraid so say I have lost all hope at this point and am 99% sure it won't and that we will have wasted time and money again plus mucked up by system with clomid. Only good thing is that I think I have decided to be happy with my two beautiful sons and give up on DH and I having our own baby. Guess you can't have everything in life.

Russkispy · 16/12/2016 17:08

Thomas, so sorry to hear your so down with it all! Sending you big hugs. I won't say any of the usual cliche phrases. Hope you'll be able to take your mind off in the meantime. And what will be, will be at the end of 2ww. I'm staying absolutely positive for you! Someone has to! 😉😉

nc060 · 16/12/2016 18:31

Currently snuggling my 2 year old Clomid baby before bed, I promise it's worth all the stress and worry!!

Russkispy · 23/12/2016 14:23

Thomas, how are you getting on?!! How are you feeling?!!
Wishing you all a lovely Christmas!! 🎄🎄🎄

Thomasina76 · 26/12/2016 17:28

Hi Russkispy, Merry Christmas! Had a lovely Christmas thanks but feeling tired and a bit tetchy today which I fear is the onset of PMT. Today is 10 days post IUI so I could (in theory) test tomorrow and definitely Weds but think I have decided not to test. Pretty sure I am not pregnant and just can't face the disappointment, again. Question is what to do next and whether to try a 3rd medicated IUI next cycle. Have pretty much decided to have a month off next month as I feel that the clomid really mucked up my body last month with one very big follicle and one smaller one so feel like stopping everything. I am not sure IUIs are actually helping us in fact. We have no known fertility issues, other than age, so I am not sure how much this is adding. Success rates are low and I find the whole process soul destroying. I think we may leave it for a few months and have a long hard think about whether we want to do IVF. There's no immediate panic but if we want to do it then sooner rather then later is better I guess as chances will get lower and lower. Or we just keep trying naturally and hope it happens. How are you? Did you have a lovely Christmas?

Thomasina76 · 26/12/2016 17:29

Nc060, thank you for the positive story! It's things like that that keep you going! May I ask how long you took clomid before you got lucky? Did you combine with IUI?

Thomasina76 · 28/12/2016 14:46

BFN. Again.

Russkispy · 29/12/2016 22:44

Hi Thomas, so sorry to hear about it! How are you holding up? Sending big hugs 💐💐💐
