Anyone done or doing Clomid/ovidrel/IUI?

Would love to hear from anyone taking this route ttc. I'm DOR and dh has low morphology but an amazing count and motility. So whenever af shows up in two weeks or so I'm starting Clomid, then doing a hcg trigger injection and then IUI. Hoping for success getting 2-3 good eggs to drop and putting the swimmers practically next to them!

Had my second bout of HCG and progesterone blood test and got results. The levels went up significantly from yesterday. progesterone is 176.5 and HCG is 324.8. I know I'm pregnant but the news hasn't sunk in yet! Tomorrow will be seeing a GP and will take it from there.

snowy1982 · 14/10/2016 09:42

On my way to scan this morning and end up in a car crash, it is not my week Sad

Russkispy · 14/10/2016 10:19

Oh god, snowy! Are you ok?!! I know it's a crap week but stay positive!! Let us know if you're ok

geeup · 14/10/2016 15:48

Sorry to hear that snowy. Hope you're ok and made it to the scan.

snowy1982 · 14/10/2016 17:17

Didn't make it to scan but rearranged for tomorrow. Accident was quite bad, was on motorway and a car spun out across the lanes in front me and crashed into the barrier. I managed to stop in time and didn't hit it but someone crashed into the back of me. Have some whiplash and pains in my abdomen so hospital did a urine sample which showed blood, they did some blood tests though and they were all clear

geeup · 14/10/2016 18:43

How terrifying. Hope you get a clean bill of health. Take care.

Thomasina76 · 15/10/2016 23:03

Snowy, that's dreadful, really hope you are ok. You must be very shaken.

Ok, so currently in a massive dilemma whether or not to do medicated cycle (IUI). This will be our 3rd IUI, previous 2 were unmedicated. We were going to do 3 unmedicated but have realised just how low the success rates are with unmedicated cycles if you are over 40 so agreed with dr to try a medicated cycle this month. I am supposed to start with 50mg of clomid today (CD 3) but think I am chickening out due to risk of multiples. Can't decide whether to do another unmedicated or move straight to medicated and risk twins (which we really really don't want). Any advice very welcome. I have an hour left to take first clomid pill.

snowy1982 · 16/10/2016 08:44

Thomasina I'm fine thanks, still a bit achy but apart from that I'm good. Had my rescheduled scan yesterday and everything is still ok. Doc only mentioned the one follicle so the others must have dropped away.

This brings me on to your dilemma. As you know, I was supposed to be 3 unmedicated but decided to go medicated for this last one. Risk of multiples wasn't a massive fear for me, twins I'd be happy enough with, but my clinic stops the cycle if you have more than 2 follicles over 14mm so the risks are definitely minimised. Last Wednesday my scan showed 4 follicles all around 10mm so I was really annoyed, thought we'd made a mistake, but by yesterday we had one lead follicle at 15mm.

PS sorry I'm late with the advice, had an early last night

geeup · 16/10/2016 10:02

Thomasina I'm not sure if I can help but I just did my first round of clomid (50mg) and it didn't really do much. I had a scan yesterday cd 14 and it showed only one leading follicle at 11mm which the sonography didn't think was really big enough to ovulate yesterday but my temperature shift shows I did ovulate yesterday. So maybe I'm ovulating small runty eggs :( unless they can grow significantly in 12-24 hrs - not sure if anyone knows.
Anyway I just wanted to say not everyone gets loads of eggs so I wouldn't worry but that's just me.

Thanks mrsunsure. I have no idea what's going on but hopefully my consultant can shed some light next cycle!

Thomasina76 · 16/10/2016 16:38

Thanks Snowy and Geeup, very helpful. I am now CD4 and was supposed to start clomid yesterday. Am I too late to start today? Still not sure what to do. Part of me wants to try another unmedicated but another part of me thinks we are just chucking another 1k down the drain and we'll be in the same dilemma next month. What I also struggle to understand is that last month I had a 23mm egg when I triggered, lining looked good etc, yet still nothing. I am ovulating and the eggs appear mature so why does it never happen? Must be due to quality. Dr recommended we do an ovarian reserve test to see how long we have. Antral follicle count was 14 (9 and 5). Just waiting blood results and hoping AMH hasn't dropped from 7.1 last April.

Good luck all!

snowy1982 · 17/10/2016 21:55

Thomasina I have been the same, both cycles my follicles were 22mm plus and lining was supposedly perfect (though I didn't hear the actual measurements) but nothing happened. Like TTC unaided, these things take time. I read somewhere that a 100% fertility healthy couple have a 1 in 5 chance of conceiving every month, so eve putting those figures unto IUI chances are it's gonna take a few try's to get it right.

Again, sorry for late reply (it's been a hectic few days) but I'm not sure if you are too late to start or not.

Had a scan today, one good lead follicle (18mm, although when doing it without medication, mine were 22mm or above at this stage) so triggering tonight

Thomasina76 · 18/10/2016 23:11

Ahh, thanks Snowy. That is reassuring. I so need some good news! I called dr yesterday (CD5) to see if I could start clomid and he said it was too late so this will be our 3rd (and last unmedicated IUI). Expensive but probably the right decision as I think I need longer to get my head around clomid so will be ok to go ahead next month. Dr suggested we do an ovarian reserve test to see how long we have (!). I was reluctant as it costs £450 and I had one done in April but went ahead last Friday and got blood results yesterday which were:

AMH - 8.6
FSH - 6.7
Oestriedol (sp?) - 356
Antral follicle count - 14

Anyone know if these are good/bad? All I know is that my AMH last April was 7.1 so it seems to have gone up?? Didn't know that was possible.

Have a meeting with dr next week to go through the results but hoping he is going to tell me we still have a shot at this. Starting to give up hope.

Snowy, whereabouts are you in your cycle?

Thomasina76 · 18/10/2016 23:14

Sorry Snowy, just re-read your last post. Good luck with the trigger! So are you saying the follicles were smaller with this (medicated) cycle than with unmedicated? What dosage of clomid were you taking?

Thomasina76 · 18/10/2016 23:17

Oh and congrats Russkispy! Amazing news! Do you think it's twins (dare i ask?)!

snowy1982 · 19/10/2016 06:56

Thomasina sorry but I am no help with interpreting results, I just wait for doc to tell me good or bad lol

I wasn't using clomid, it was a drug called gonal f and yip, follicles were definitely smaller, but still good size so not worried.

Trigger was very awkward, felt like I was starring in my own version of breaking bad. Had 3 glass vials and had to take the solution from one, mix it with a powder in another then take it and mix it with powder from the last vial. Hopefully I did it all right (noticed some EWCM last night so think I did). IUI at 11:30 today, so nervous, this is the last of our 3 cycles, if this doesn't work we're having a break for a few months

Russkispy · 19/10/2016 07:22

Snowy, good luck for today! Will be thinking of you!

Thomasina, I understand your anxiety about Clomid. I had the same before taking it. But I have to say I didn't have any side effects and ended up with 3 mature follicles on cd13 when we had IUI. 2 of them were 20mm each. That's when I was told there might be a chance of twins. We're yet to find out! Will let you know in a couple of weeks when we had our early scan.
Don't think you need to worry about Clomid as such.

snowy1982 · 19/10/2016 08:27

Thanks Russkispy very anxious about it. Hope all is well with you.

Forgot to say Thomasina, although I wasn't on clomid, I didn't have any side effects from the drug I was on, a very very mild case of nausea, but that was it

geeup · 19/10/2016 09:25

Russkrispy sorry if you said before but we're you on 50mg and did you get your bfp on the first Clomid+IUI attempt?

geeup · 19/10/2016 09:28

And would you recommend your clinic?

Russkispy · 19/10/2016 10:20

Geeup, yes, my first ever round off clomid, cd5-9 plus she gave me an extra 1 after the first US. Then I triggered with Ovitrelle on CD12 and had IUI on CD13, next day. First time Clomid, trigger and IUI! DH flew over as I was getting it done back home, in Riga. They took his fresh sperm, washed and prepared and it had over 80% motility afterwards.
My clinic in Riga called IVF Riga. Can't recommend enough as they're so caring and understanding! After IUI I was put on a drip then was given a bunch of vitamins before and after IUI which I'm still taking.

Russkispy · 19/10/2016 10:22

Oh and it was 50mg of Clomid

snowy1982 · 19/10/2016 11:38

IUI done, 20.4 mill of excellent quality sperm put in there, really hoping 3rd times a charm

Russkispy · 19/10/2016 11:55

That's great, snowy! Fingers crossed! Please try to distract yourself during 2ww.

Geeup, didn't take pregnancy test after 2ww but went for HCG and progesterone blood tests. Then poas the following week as wanted to have BFP in my hands which I did. First BFP after the first medically assisted IUI
