Anyone done or doing Clomid/ovidrel/IUI?

Would love to hear from anyone taking this route ttc. I'm DOR and dh has low morphology but an amazing count and motility. So whenever af shows up in two weeks or so I'm starting Clomid, then doing a hcg trigger injection and then IUI. Hoping for success getting 2-3 good eggs to drop and putting the swimmers practically next to them!

I did clomid in 2005. First round at 50mg (my cd21 bloods were 2.6 previous cycle) and I fell pregnant.

Said pregnancy is now a near 10 year old, nearly as tall as me.

Good luck

Hi all, just a quickie... Af is due at the weekend, but I've been having weird pains in my vag like someone is sticking a pin in my cervix? It's happened a few times in the last day and it only lasts a second or two but good grief it stings 😜 Has anyone else had this? Is it a new symptom of nothing at all that my body is throwing at me?

Hi all. Interesting thread. Does anyone know if you have to have a medical reason or suspected fertility problem to be prescribed clomid. DH and I have been TTC for 6 months. Both had fertility checks and all fine (he has pretty amazing sperm density and my scan showed I am ovulating normally) but still nothing seems to be happening. Saw one specialist who said to keep trying for another 4-5 months but wondering whether to try to get a prescription of Clomid to speed things up. I am 39 (nearly 40) and DH 46 so we don't have time to muck around.

star1980 · 18/05/2016 18:54

owch snowdog that doesn't sound pleasant! Afraid I don't have any ideas for what might be causing those pains, but of course I wonder (and of course you have too) maybe a bfp is on its way?! Fingers cross this is the end of ttc for you, and if not you can start your clomid boost next week.
Hi Candy, I'm not sure. I've only just been prescribed clomid and haven't started taking it yet, but my guess is that if you're ovulating it might not be possible to get it on the nhs but you could probably convince a private consultant to prescribe it. I only say this as I'm pretty sure I ovulate, but I've been prescribed clomid by my nhs consultant but it's a private prescription. Someone on another thread said that it's worth trying a few months of clomid + trigger + timed intercourse before more invasive treatments like ivf. Since you've only been trying 6 months, I'd say it's way too early to panic. Have you had your ovarian reserve tested? If that's fine, then a few more months trying naturally sounds a good idea to me.

TrixieBernadette · 18/05/2016 20:31

Have you had an hsg for blocked tubes? I wouldn't ever suggest someone taking clomid unless they have had a hsg, you can't take it indefinitely. Six months really isn't long to try either, although I know it feels it!

CandyCrush77 · 18/05/2016 22:33

Thank you Star and Trixie. What is an HSG? I've had a scan and AMH test (score of 7.1 which is normal for my age apparently) which were fine and DH checked out ok as well. Is that another test or scan? The scan showed I was ovulation normal. Do you really think it's too early to panic because I am doing just that and driving DH completely mad!

TrixieBernadette · 18/05/2016 22:48

An hsg is where they pump you full of dye and watch the flow - it checks your tubes are clear. If you've had a pelvic ultrasound which shows ovulation, and cd21 bloods, and there's no reason there that you haven't conceived, a blockage would be the next check.

TrixieBernadette · 18/05/2016 22:49

And yes, it's still early. We are led to believe we can fall at the drop of a hat, but actually 12-18 months is average I think?

CandyCrush77 · 19/05/2016 11:30

Is it really/ GP did say 12 months but SO hard not to panic and feel it's never going to happen, especially with my 40th birthday looming!

Snowdog37 · 20/05/2016 19:54

eaiand how's things? Af is due by Sunday so I'm hanging on by a thread! Pretty sure I'm out after a bfn last night.

Hello, can I butt in? I'm on my 2ww on my first round of clomid. Unexplained infertility here, got 2 more months and then I'm debating whether to have IUI. Is it worth doing?

broodypsycho · 21/05/2016 20:27

Oh and I'm on my 13th cycle Sad

TrixieBernadette · 21/05/2016 20:44

What dose do you have? Friend of mine started on 50mg for three months, then did 100mg and then conceived on 150mg

broodypsycho · 21/05/2016 20:54

Trixie if your talking to me, im on 50mg. I already ovulate on my own, (level of 31 borderline) but I still want to up my dose. Only had 1 mature follicle this month.

star1980 · 23/05/2016 17:32

Hey snowdog, how you doing? Did af come? Have you started Clomid?!

I'm just picking up my pills and expecting af next Sunday. Didn't have sex in my fertile week so just counting the days till I can start. Better not be late!

Broody, welcome. How far through are you? When's your test date? Good luck! I don't know if they'll up your dose if you ovulated but maybe you can add in a trigger? How are you tracking ov at the moment? I ov naturally (I think) but my consultant thinks this is worth a try.

Candy, I know how hard it is when it takes longer than you want. And I know about freaking out about age, but I do think it's worth trying a few more cycles then go hassle your consultant for Clomid. Or maybe ask them now what they think about prescribing it. I know some people think there's no point if you ov on your own but others have had success with it too.

Snowdog37 · 23/05/2016 17:51

Yep af started late last night so I'm getting my baseline ultrasound and blood tests this week and Clomid too, on Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing how this all goes!

Good luck snowdog!!

broodypsycho · 23/05/2016 23:53

star I'm currently 5dpo, my consultant done follicle tracking on cd 10 ( which showed no follicles) then again on cd 13 which showed one at 18mm and 16mm. I took an ovulation test and finally got a solid smiley, had ovulation pains. I could possibly ask for a trigger, I just want to give the sperm more targets.

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 24/05/2016 01:41

Good luck Snow! Exciting times ahead...can't wait to read your updates!

Hope the 2ww flies by Broody (was going to write psycho but thought it looked a little unfriendly Smile).

It must be exciting picking up your pills Star - the countdown is on! Unfortunately AF arrived later than usual this month for me so have had to skip IUI this cycle but it's looking good for next time - mid June.

maplebaby · 24/05/2016 08:57

Just popping my head in to keep an eye on you lot!

Good luck for tomorrow snow! Did you find out what the fanjo pains were?!

Welcome and fingers crossed for you broody!

Star ooo you got your pills! Hope AF starts on time for you (who would have thought i would be wishing that on someone!) so you can get cracking!!

Genghis mid June should come by quickly! Although I know it won't feel like it!

AFM I did have a letter but just a copy of the one my consultant sends to my doctor telling them my plan of action. It had my blood tests results on there too which means nothing to me!

Still waiting for my appointment letter but will call them tomorrow to chase when I have my hospital number to hand!

maplebaby · 25/05/2016 17:32

Called the nurse today who seemed a bit confused as if she hadn't seen my referral and said would call me back. Then another nurse called saying she had my referral and hadn't forgotten about me Hmm but they were really full in June and appointment likely to be in July as they don't have enough rooms?!

But then said would try and fit me in and would call me by the end of the week - sounds like I was overlooked and now they are trying to find me a time! I hope they do, otherwise my IUI procedure will likely to be in August if I have to wait for my appointment until July! Sad

Snowdog37 · 25/05/2016 18:00

No idea what the fanjo pains were. Not a bfp though!
I had my baseline ultrasound and I have a better afc than before but still quite low. Hopefully with the Clomid that will improve! Next ultrasound will be early next week with trigger/IUI between Wednesday and Friday next week I think. Eek!!!!

maplebaby · 25/05/2016 22:40

Yay for better AFC snow! Eeeep not long now - keep us updated with how next week goes!

star1980 · 26/05/2016 14:13

So Ghengis did you take clomid anyway this cycle, or are you just going to wait to do it with IUI next month? Hope you don't get a chance to try it!

Snow, great that your afc is up. Do you mind me asking what it was and what you're hoping for? No worries if you prefer not to. So exciting that you'll be triggering/IUI-ing next week! Do they inseminate the day after trigger?

Getting ahead of myself as period not even due yet, but I'm wondering when to DTD when we trigger - perceived wisdom (google) seems to say that you DTD for three days starting on the day you trigger. Anyone have different advice?

Maple, great that they have your referral now (do they??) and fingers crossed they can fit you in next month. How long til your next cycle?

broody, I don't actually know what the correct size follicle is but it sounds like you had two this cycle. My consultant says they'll cancel the cycle if I develop more than two so I doubt they'll up your dose. You never know, this may just have done it for you!

Snowdog37 · 26/05/2016 14:48

star I had 5 last time and 8 this time, one was already 10mm and the other seven were 3-9mm. So hopefully I'll have 2-3 good ones out of these? I'm not sure exactly how many will mature. My dr says usually with my dose of Clomid (100mg) they aim for 2-3 that are between 16-20mm at trigger time. Once I've triggered they do the IUI 36 hours later. They said to dtd on the night of the trigger, but not to do it again until after the IUI so you get a good sample for the IUI. Am torn between excited that it'll work first time and resigned that nothing's worked yet so why would this.
