TTC #1 after miscarriage - looking for some buddies

Clareinthemiddle · 29/08/2015 13:29

I have been ttc for 10 months. I'm 34.
Took it very easy the first few months and then went for it with OPKs, no caffeine, reduced alcohol and got my BFP in May, but sadly mmc at 12 weeks (a few days before my scan). The little thing had not made it past 5.5 weeks :(
Took July off to recover and then back on it again in August. Heard/read a lot about increased fertility the few months after a miscarriage so was really convinced August would be my month, but af arrived yesterday. Absolutely devastated.
Can feel a very lonely place, especially as I either have friends who conceived within 1-3 months, or those who always knew they would have issues so started with IVF a few years back and have thankfully all been successful. I guess I just thought I would have an easy ride, as my sisters did, but no such luck.
Thought it would be nice to share the journey with others dealing with similar situations or with success stories after a miscarriage. Please say hello :)

Sunday I'm glad your AF has arrived. I've been thinking mine would as I had ever so slight brown CM this afternoon and nothing really since Angry I just want to know either way!

sakura sorry AF got you, early too. Have you taken any vitamins this month that could have caused it? I think it's more about when you ovulate, when did you get a positive opk?

I'm having a fed up sort of day too! I'm anxious to have AF so I can enjoy this month and look forward to the treatment starting and anxious that I could (most probably not) get a BFP and need the progesterone.

Everyone seems to be announcing they're pregnant this week too and I think I'll cry if anyone else asks when we are going to get a move on in terms of having babies. Ok rant over!

sundayraspberry · 10/10/2015 19:23

Don't worry Sakura , no such thing as a me me me post when we're all here to share and vent! Sorry about AF. Ttc after mc is just shit. Time for wine I think...

mascaraisamust · 10/10/2015 20:53

I wish...

Sophia1984 · 10/10/2015 22:13

Sorry you've got a painful period Sakura They really suck, don't they? I get absolutely exhausted with mine. My cycle was only 23 days this time and it's normally 26 but my period has been shorter. And yeah, I find cramps and bleeding really upsetting because of my MC :( I feel like I'm constantly aware of how my womb is feeling!

I'm on post-period wine too sundayraspberry :) There's something calming about this time of the month when you know you don't have to be symptom spotting and knicker checking!

mascara I always hear about people being pestered about when they're going to have kids. I feel so fortunate that no one does this to me, and can't believe how insensitive people can be - are they really blind to the fact that not everyone can start a family easily?

mascaraisamust · 11/10/2015 09:03

AF is here for me too! Sort of relieved that it's finally arrived after 6 weeks! LP hasn't improved really, 9 days and spotting on day 10. Just need to get bloods done now between cd2-5! Looks like we are all in the same position xx

sundayraspberry · 11/10/2015 09:37

That's good mascara, at least you are out of limbo and starting afresh. I've not had cycle buddies before Smile. Def gonna try opks now, any advice what day to start, from you ladies that use them?

mascaraisamust · 11/10/2015 09:50

CB advices from day 10 but it depends on how long a normal cycle is, I would start from day 10 until you get a pattern.

I know I ovulate day 19/20 normally so that's a lot of OPKs to use up, however the Clomid should bring this forward fingers crossed x

rhodes15 · 11/10/2015 11:46

Sunday I started on day 14 as wasn't sure when to go for it. Then had 9 days of flashy smileys and then the holy Grail of the static. Just wish it wasn't so expensive!

rhodes15 · 11/10/2015 13:28

Question..... When your on the ttw do you abstain from the booze or crack on as normal?

sundayraspberry · 11/10/2015 15:00

Thanks, gonna start from day 10 but think I might stock up on internet cheapies in case I end up with another 70 day cycle!

rhodes I've never really had a proper tww but have had plenty of 'am I, aren't I' moments. I didn't abstain from alcohol until I got bfp, but have been cutting down generally anyway.

LondonGirl83 · 11/10/2015 18:05

Hi Ladies, I haven't read the whole thread and very sorry for all your losses. I was pregnant with my first after 2 months of trying but unfortunately, I mc over the weekend at 5.5 weeks.

My husband and I are really eager to start TTC again and I was hoping you ladies could share and tips and wisdom with me. I'm feeling very lost at the moment.

sundayraspberry · 11/10/2015 19:52

Am very sorry you are going through this. I don't feel qualified to give much advice, had my mc in June so feel a little lost myself still! Give yourself time to stop bleeding before TTC again (think this is because of infection risk) and see how you feel. Some say you can start trying again straight away other advice says to wait until first af. Either way do what you feel is best for you both. Sending virtual hugs and Flowers

Sakura03 · 12/10/2015 08:49

Sorry for your loss LondonGirl it's such a shitty place to beFlowers. We started trying straight away after my mc in May but it is very individual what people do, just do what you feel comfortable with.
mascara I've taken the same vitamins for 3 months now so I'm ruling that out, didn't get a positive opk so maybe I didn't ov at all. Hopefully it's a one off!
Thanks raspberry and sophia
Cd3 here (boring)... I need to inject some fun in my lifeSmile

mascaraisamust · 12/10/2015 16:55

Sorry London girl Flowers here to support you on those down days.

I was an emotional wreck yesterday, it's like my hormones were all over the place leaving me a blubbering mess! Cd2 here, 26 days of chilling out before my next cycle! I'm not going to try as such this cycle as I wanted I wait for the treatment so not putting the pressure on.

Clareinthemiddle · 13/10/2015 08:55

Hi Londongirl - sorry for your loss. Just give yourself time to recover physically and emotionally without putting pressure on yourself. Easier said than done I know....

Sorry all those afs arrived ladies , but at least you can start this new cycle afresh.

Sundayraspberry - in terms of opks I use a mix of CB digitals and cheap internet ones (one stop I think they're called). They seem to give me positives on the same day so I can be pretty sure which day I ovulate.

Mascaraisamust - let us know how the bloods go. I've got my 21 day blood test on Friday and then I need to get hubby over to Drs.

Rhodes - the alcohol thing is so tricky I find. Practically every person I speak to says they were drinking away in the weeks they found out they were pregnant (some absolutely hammered the night before they got their bfps) so they tell me to just drink and relax, but all the doctors I speak to say to avoid alcohol as much as possible. I never know what to do!? August I drank normally, September I barely drank at all, and this month I'm I between. What do others do?

I'm on 2 dpo today. Managed to get in 2 'sessions' with hubby but only at the time of ovulation and after (not before) as he was away for 10 days, so not ideal. Fingers crossedGrin

Ah Clare I hope the tww is a quick one for you, mine dragged!!

Gynae appointment today prescribed me progesterone too if I get a bfp. Got bloods tomorrow.

Feel like I'm making small steps but just need that bfp now!

Hope everyone is ok?

Clareinthemiddle · 14/10/2015 07:32

Mascaraisamust - sorry if I sound stupid, as don't really understand all this, but they recommend you taking progesterone once your pregnant, what about if your hormone levels are low to get you pregnant in the first place? Maybe that's a different hormone....

mascaraisamust · 14/10/2015 07:38

That were my thoughts exactly as the private consultant said to take progesterone from ovulation Confused

Billi77 · 14/10/2015 11:27

Hello. In 2WW and feeling tired which I am reading as a positive sign, although I have had tendency to over read symptoms. Familiar?
Whilst TTC I did drink. Having been through hell this summer (MMC at 8 weeks in june followed by partner of 8 years leaving me), I think being well is important right now and doing what I feel like doing at given moments contributes to that wellness. I'm not talking binge, just a glass of wine or two a day. Also when I think of the friends who conceived whilst chilling out and not trying : friends who obsessed and stressed and over-tried and didn't conceive ratio, I feel pretty justified.
Can one only get progesterone after 3 MC? It seems any kind of 'aid' is restricted after only 1 MC. My Italian doctor suggested a junior aspirin a day after BFP (if there is one), although my London GP advised against this. Is progesterone more readily prescribed for MC rather than MMC? Sorry for questions, I'm just not getting Dr-fed answers.

sundayraspberry · 15/10/2015 19:51

Hope your ttw isn't dragging, billi77. Good luck for bfp! When is AF due?

Glad you got some 'sessions' in with hubby clare. I can imagine you must have been pleased to have him home!

I've had some difficulties with AF, just v heavy really but opks and clinic appointment arrived yesterday so looking forward to starting afresh.

How's everyone else? Feeling any better Londongirl?

Billi77 · 18/10/2015 15:46

Thanks. AF due today/Sunday/Monday. All a little unpredictable post MC, but fingers crossed.
My AF after MC was very heavy too. I took it as a good sign of 'clear out', ready to start again. Stay positive and happy.

mascaraisamust · 18/10/2015 19:13

Hi everyone, hope you're all ok. Nothing to report here. AF was also heavy too after mc, it's over now though so ready for this cycle. Going to just chill out and see what happens this cycle. Trying to take the pressure of myself TTC on the run up to xmas.x

LondonGirl83 · 18/10/2015 19:31

Hey everyone. I ovulated today based on OPK and temping. That would make this a very short cycle post mc (23 days) but I guess that's not so unusual. DTD with DH yesterday and today.

Good lick to everyone for bps :)

sundayraspberry · 19/10/2015 21:34

Great that you ov'd first cycle, London, wouldn't worry about it being short, it's known as a WTF cycle for good reason!

Nothing new here either, cd10 so started with first opk. Hormones driving me mad, spotty, grumpy but just pleased to be in the running this month Smile

mascaraisamust · 19/10/2015 21:58

My skin is a nightmare too sunday!
