TTC #1 after miscarriage - looking for some buddies

Clareinthemiddle · 29/08/2015 13:29

I have been ttc for 10 months. I'm 34.
Took it very easy the first few months and then went for it with OPKs, no caffeine, reduced alcohol and got my BFP in May, but sadly mmc at 12 weeks (a few days before my scan). The little thing had not made it past 5.5 weeks :(
Took July off to recover and then back on it again in August. Heard/read a lot about increased fertility the few months after a miscarriage so was really convinced August would be my month, but af arrived yesterday. Absolutely devastated.
Can feel a very lonely place, especially as I either have friends who conceived within 1-3 months, or those who always knew they would have issues so started with IVF a few years back and have thankfully all been successful. I guess I just thought I would have an easy ride, as my sisters did, but no such luck.
Thought it would be nice to share the journey with others dealing with similar situations or with success stories after a miscarriage. Please say hello :)

I have regressed. I am Kevin the teenager!

Billi77 · 20/10/2015 22:55

I hope this is encouraging. Miscarried in June and got BFP today at 14 DPO having tested negative at 9 and 11 DPO.
I hope you all have similar outcomes. What a summer!

mascaraisamust · 21/10/2015 06:42

Great news Billi, fingers crossed that you have a long and uneventful 9 months! Must be such a relief x

sundayraspberry · 21/10/2015 08:01

Exciting news! Congratulations. Wishing you good luck and lots of happiness x

Vap0 · 21/10/2015 08:33

Hi Ladies
I hope you don't mind me joining?
I read through this whole thread yesterday and billi's good news today has made me want to comment!
Congratulations billiFlowers
I'm in a similar spot to all of you. I have my 1st mc on August bank holiday Monday this year, bad times Sad after 2 years of ttc. I'm now on 26 months ttc #1 and read this whole post looking for hope of a second bfp fairly soon. I'm so sorry to hear of all of your losses and even more sorry that there has only been 2 bfps on this thread. I see most of you are on similar time scales to me with many happening only a couple of months ago.

So, I'm planning on poas frer on Friday. Hoping for the best but that doesn't tend to help...
You hear a lot about people being more fertile after a mc but I suppose this thread proves that wrong Sad.
The only people I know who have had mc in real life have conceived either immediately after or within 2-3 months.
Best of luck to all you lovely ladies and I wish us all the luck in the world to get our well deserved bfps ASAP!

Clareinthemiddle · 21/10/2015 08:43

Morning ladies, just checking in.

Billi77 - any update? Did af rear her ugly head? Angry

Londongirl - great you ov'd. Good luck for next cycle.

Sundayraspberry - great you're in the running? How's the opk testing going?

I'm on day 25 and 9-10 dpo. Hate this bit as need to decide when to test. Feel fine, no real symptoms which is a bit worrying as had quite a few the month I got my preggers. Progesterone levels came back fine, so will speak to Dr today about next steps. Was kinda hoping I'd have an issue which could then be fixed rather than this on-going wait...

rhodes15 · 21/10/2015 10:20

Congratulations Billie. I got my bfp yesterday so fingers crossed that the next 9 months actually happen this time.

Mascara i had to force myself to wait to test. Keeping everything crossed for you Thanks

Vap so sorry for your loss. It's a good thread to join. There's always hope Smile

Billi77 · 21/10/2015 10:23

Hi Claire. No AF no, just another BFP today at 15 DPO.
I Had negative tests at 9 and 11 DPO so would hold out if I were you. Also, the clear blue weeks predictor yesterday said 1-2 weeks, when I last DTD just over 2 weeks ago. Sometime it takes longer to implant and for levels to be detectable. I would say best day to test is 15 DPO.
Good luck and if this isn't the month, another month will be the month.

Billi77 · 21/10/2015 11:03

Congratulation to you too Rhodes. And fingers crossed for everyone.

Vap0 · 21/10/2015 13:56

So, that's 3bfp's on this thread! It's looking far better today

Flowers congratulations to you 3

claire when will you test do you think?

I'm testing Friday....

The only reason I know I can hold off is I'm not home until then and my frer will have hopefully arrived by then.

I'll Be 10dpo then and know it will show up on a frer if positive. I've kind of given up on the ic's as they are such squinters lies, I'll probably try one in the morning I think this is the longest I've managed to wait to test in over a year even though I know it is highly unlikely to be positive until 10dpo at least.

Best of luck everyone

frankiepants1 · 21/10/2015 16:37

hi ladies, just sat and read through this thread and wanted to say hi, good luck ttc and congrats to Billi!

I wondered if i could join you all too?! The only things is I'm ttc#2 and not #1......

I had mmc in Sept and erpc on 22nd......AF arrived on Sat there (24 days after erpc) and is definitely heavier than normal - I usually have 2 or 3 days of meduim-light bleeding with no cramps and am now on day 5 of meduim, but as 1st AF after mc it feels almost like having a good clear out?!

cb opks arriving shortly and I'm keen to kick off ttc this month. I'm on CD5 already of a usual 28 day cycle so I'm hoping I'm back to normal! The days are going by quick just now, but I know when I'm in the 2ww they'll drag!

hope ok to post and join in with you all xxx

mascaraisamust · 21/10/2015 17:15

Hi all, boring here on cd11, don't normally ovulate until cd19/20. I'm away from DH for a week over the fertile period, he returns cd20 so it's going to be a bit hit and miss this month but I knew that anyway and was told to wait this month before trying clomid/progesterone cycle next month. Got my next appointment at that start of November, a couple of days before AF is due so chilling it this month. Hope you are all well. Congrats on the bfps, fingers crossed for more soon!

mascaraisamust · 21/10/2015 17:16

And hi Frankie and vap x

Clareinthemiddle · 21/10/2015 17:53

Huge congrats Billi!!! So pleased for you!! Really gives me hope as I had my mmc at the end of June.

And congrats Rhodes!!! Wishing you a wonderful next 9 months!!

I realized I hadn't moved onto the next page when I posted this morning hence responding to older posts and missing the bfps!! :)

Welcome Frankie & Vap.
Vap - have you been for testing as you've been trying for over 2 years? I will try to wait and test on 15dpo which will be Monday, so maybe Sunday instead. Just not feeling it this month, but you never know Wink

Mascarisamust - I know the frustration of not being together over fertile days. So annoying!! I had that this month although hubby came back day I think I ov'd.

Positive thoughts to everyone!

mascaraisamust · 21/10/2015 18:17

Yes positive thoughts indeed, will try on cd13-15 and cd20-23. It will be a miracle if we catch it this month but at least I can chill out and enjoy October Smile

AtAt · 21/10/2015 18:43

Hi all, I've been on previous threads and wondered if I could post a self pitying post? Feel free to ignore it, I normally feel like this when I'm due on, but this month is especially hard as it's around the month I would have been due. I miscarried in March, and have been TTC again since May. It's been a cycle of crushing disappointment when I come on to hope that next month it will happen again
I honestly thought that this month could be it, as I have been so tired and clumsy (a sure sign in my other pregnancies). Dh bought a test for me at the weekend, which was a bfn, and I know have the sure signs that I'm due on. With this and other bad news this week (need to move house and have had a friend pass away) I'm just feeling a bit sorry for myself this eventing.
Please feel free to scroll by, I feel a bit better for writing it all down. Hope others are having some happier news at the moment Flowers

mascaraisamust · 21/10/2015 18:53

Atat, sorry you are having a tough time of it and feel free to have a moan, that's what we are here for. So sorry about your friend too.

It is rubbish when AF comes and you are willing it to be your month but be sure it will happen for us all, I don't know when, but you will get your bfp.

sundayraspberry · 21/10/2015 18:59

Wow, another bfp! Congrats rhodes Grin

Good luck for testing on Fri Vap0 , 2 years is a long time ttc, have you had any investigations, if you don't mind my asking being nosey ?

Clare understand your frustration but honestly don't wish for issues, its good that your bloods are normal esp if you do get bfp this month. Got fingers crossed!

Hi frankie hope your cycles settle quickly. How old is #1?

Boring here too mascara. Just waiting for next appointment beginning of Nov.

Cd12 for me, started with opks on Monday, not sure what time of day is best to do them tho?

Clareinthemiddle · 21/10/2015 19:31

Atat - rant away! This is exactly the place to moan and talk freely.
I'm just so sorry you're feeling low and about your friend.
How long were you trying before your bfp last time?

Sunday - the clear blue digital ones are fmu I think, but others suggest later in the day when you've not drunk anything for a while. I do digitals and when I get high I start doing an afternoon normal one as well.

AtAt · 21/10/2015 20:43

Hi Clare, we pretty much fell pregnant straight away, probably why I'm finding it hard now, as I just want it to happen again. I've bought some ovulation sticks to try this month, so will see if that makes a difference

Sakura03 · 21/10/2015 22:49

Fantastic news!!! CongratsBilli and Rhodes
Cd12 here, using one step opk strips for the first time, anyone tried them? They are tiny and so cheap that you wonder if the actually work?

frankiepants1 · 21/10/2015 23:11

Rhodes I completely missed your BFP post, so sorry - and congratulations to you too of course!!!

AtAt, hope youre ok. its good to get it out tho and sometimes writing it down helps a little...but don't apologise as sounds like you're having a rough time on top of ttc, hugs.

Sunday my little boy is almost 15 months, I fell pregnant 1st month we stopped using anything and it came as a complete shock! I felt bad as I initially didn't feel as happy as I did when I got my BFP with him. I think it was the shock of the quickness and slight panic at having too. shamefully I wasted most of the month I knew I was pregnant worrying about what people at work would think (just went back in Aug after almost 14 months mat leave!) and now I don't care! its made me realise just how much I want to be pregnant again.

mascara that's rubbish you'll miss OH when most fertile, becomes like a military operation at times trying to coordinate doesn't it?!

vap I am excited for you poas on Friday, its ages til I will again (3 weeks!) so I'll do it

frankiepants1 · 21/10/2015 23:15

* hit post too soon!

I'll do it vicariously through you instead! how many dpo will you be? (sorry if I've missed you saying already!)

Im going to use the cb digis too (used them last time) - would using the strips too be recommended? do you just pee on them or do you have to pee then dip?! (always find this messy/not possible at work!)
I'm excited already to start using my digi for ovulation when it comes, just want to be back to normal!

xxx

Billi77 · 21/10/2015 23:53

Hello everyone.
One other thing. I used conceive plus (available from boots) during DTD. I also put a softcup in and kept for up to 6-10 hours after each attempt. I charted Ovulaiton on clearblue advanced and DTD on peak day one (or two) in the morning and before bedtime and alternate high days before.
It worked so feels silly not to share.
