This is a positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells and looking to start TTC or already pregnant on Prednisolone and/or Intralipid treatment.

Newcomers very much welcome!

Hi Ladies can I join you? I'm under treatment with Dr George having IVF with immune treatments. I have secondary infertility and our issues are a partial DQ alpha match that we think has caused high/imbalanced tnf1 and high nk cells. We've been TTC #2 for three years and have had 2 v early miscarriages/cp in that time. I am currently in the two week wait and I'm on prednisone, progesterone, estrogen, clexane and intralipids. Trying to stay as relaxed as possible!

Arianrhod · 06/05/2014 14:11

Happy birthday mel, and so sorry for the BFN. As village says though, you're still a spring chicken ;) I only had my DD when I was 39!

wistful welcome; DQa match is my main problem too, but thankfully you have a partial not a complete as I do. Hope your current protocol does the trick for you!

Hi All have spent the last hour reading the end of the last thread (12) and all the posts on this one - it's been ages since I was on MN. Sorry for the long radio silence - I seem to have a love/hate with this site and sometimes being away helps me to remember that I have a life outside of the constant pill and vitamin taking and ttc.

Mel happy birthday and sorry to hear about the BFN

Free so sorry to read about your Nan but she certainly must have lived through amazing things to get to 99.

Re the hydroxy debate I too had very sore itchy eyes and ended up with having to use fake tears as my tear ducts were blocked. My optometrist linked it to the hydroxy but my eye test (the back of the eye photos) were clear so have carried on taking it and my eyes went back to normal after a few weeks.

I'm not sure what to class my current cycle number as. I had a BFP with cycle 1 of SO which ended with mc at 8wks so not sure if the numbers get reset. Now I'm either on cycle 2 or 3 but either way am 10 dpo today with a BFN. Last time I saw Mr S he mentioned putting my Letrazole dose up to 7.5mg. Has anyone else taken a larger dose and were there any side effects I should be aware of?

Waves to everyone and welcome to all the newbies xxx

Mel3062 · 06/05/2014 16:44

Thanks ladies, I'm staying 39 a l

Mel3062 · 06/05/2014 16:45

Long time! I know I'm still young, it's having an ill, elderly mum and a nearly 20 year old and a hubby thinking he's past it that's the prob!!!

suemays · 08/05/2014 14:28

Just got the test results back from my gp for the full blood count and u&es and my kidney function test has dropped dramatically. I have to go in for an urgent appt tomorrow and have it retested. Great, another weekend of worrying! My gp said it could be very serious if the results are right. I just hope it's not something to do with the hydroxy.

LunaGL · 08/05/2014 14:59

Oh bloody hell Sue a stress you could REALLY do without. I know Mr S has asked a lot of us on hydroxy to get tested every 3 months - I guess its for precautions such as these. Fingers crossed that the retest tomorrow shows better results

freelancegirl · 08/05/2014 15:23

Let us know how it goes Sue. Hope it's all ok.

I've not got round to doing mine yet and must do that ASAP.

How is everyone else? Rather quiet on here.

Mel3062 · 08/05/2014 17:47

Aw sue hope all goes ok. How worrying for you
I read another article in real people about mr s which was interesting.
My hubby's wallet got stolen today :(

VillageMum · 08/05/2014 17:55

Sue thinking of you - really hope you get some clarification.

Oh no, mel - hope there wasn't anything very important in it.

Waves to all.

BellyD · 08/05/2014 21:27

Sue just wanted to say sorry to hear about your fbc. Hopefully the retest will come back with positive news. Thinking of you.

shamrock72 · 09/05/2014 08:27

Hi all, Have been reading along for a good while now, and would like your opinion. I am 42 and have had 5 mc and have no children yet. Have seen Mr. S now three times starting from Nov '13. We are traveling from abroad and were a bit disappointed that mr S made us come over the 3rd time only to take blood pressure and a chat of 8 minutes. Have been tested with high Nk cells and am on the known treatment Pred - Cyclogest - Intralipids . Tested in Jan positive turned out to be a chemical. Tested positive again 10/04 and have had first scan yesterday here in hospital.
7+2 sack is measuring normal size yolk sack normal size foetal pole only 2/3mm. Have scan again next week and fearing that it will be same story again. Still taking my meds any advise from you girls? I was so hopeful for this time after Mr.S told us that we have 85% chance... I am in bits..........

freelancegirl · 09/05/2014 08:46

Hi Shamrock, glad you have joined us but sorry to hear about your miscarriages. So sorry to also hear you are not holding out much hope for this pregnancy. Of course we hear plenty of times of people measuring behind and it all being fine but it sounds like in your experience, and mine too, measuring behind has only meant one thing so far. Have you had any of your miscarriages tested afterwards? I had a miscarriage in October and ERPC at 8 weeks. It was the only one I have ever managed to get tested but turned out to be a chromosomal issue. I am not sure how I felt/feel about that but it was good to know it wasn't a failure of the treatment. I am now wondering how many of my previous miscarriages were also down to this.

Are you also on Hydroxychloroquine? I was on that as well as the steroids and intralipids to successfully have my little boy almost 22 months ago.

As for advice, well I don't really know what to suggest. I know that for those people who are getting pregnant relatively easily (and I know the worry is that this might get harder as we get older) the general consensus seems to be that if you keep trying you will get there eventually. For those people here who have struggled to get pregnant it has been a bit harder but they have often turned out to have more issues. It's hard, I know, to keep trying and keep miscarrying.

Keep us updated with this pregnancy! I know how awful it is to keep having those inconclusive scans. I would like to think that next time I get pregnant I could wait until 8 weeks just so I would then know one way or another but the wait is hard and the urge is often to know as soon as possible so it can be 'dealt with' as soon as possible.

Am sure the others can come along too with some more advice and support!

shamrock72 · 09/05/2014 09:05

Hi Freelance, thank you so much for your reply. Fantastic to hear that you did have had success this gives me hope. I am not on Hydroxychloroquine. Twice they were able to do tests and came back normal no abnormalities - note that these were without treatment and could be down to NK. All sorts of things go through my mind at the moment. Such as why did they never checked my egg quality etc. Not sure if I want to go back to Mr.S might try to get appointment here in clinic to see if we can dig a bit deeper. Not going to give up just yet, just feel deflated at the moment

suemays · 09/05/2014 13:06

Thanks everyone, had a repeat blood test and did a urine sample today so will get the results this afternoon or Monday.

freelancegirl · 09/05/2014 14:19

So many people do have success on the treatment, I think this thread often hides that as the people here most are inevitably the ones still trying! We have a huge list somewhere of all the Pred thread babies with some of us now trying for number 2. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions!

Mel3062 · 09/05/2014 18:21

Shamrock everything crossed for you.
Sue everything crossed for you too.
Keep reading about hydroxy and wish I knew what it was that caused my uterine cells :/
Af for me today and my fertility monitor gadget has now arrived :/

duggs1976 · 09/05/2014 18:43

Shamrock as free said we all vary. I have had 3 losses before seeing dr s and three since seeing him over 4 yr period. I've also seen dr gorgy too. I know 2 of those losses were def chromosonal one before and one after. I actually think most of my issues have been egg/and or sperm quality and just had to wait for the good egg. I wasn't on any treatment with this pregnancy but took a low dose of steroids from about week 5 just in case but don't think that has made much difference to me as this was my 4th pregnancy on the treatment and so far this is the only one that has got to where I am now at 16 wks. I will be happy to get this baby and after that we just won't actively "try" and if I ever got pregnant again i would probably neck a few spare prednisolone tablets I have still but the 7 wk scan should show a strong heartbeat in my experience. I hope you get some definitive answers one way or another very soon.

suemays · 09/05/2014 19:05

shamrock as far as I am aware there is no test for egg quality only an indicator of reserves. I think duggs has proved that it is also down to finding the perfect egg as all the treatment plans won't work if the egg is bad.

As for me, had the bloods back and all is ok! Was convinced it would be serious as you get used to hearing bad news from doctors after the fertility game. They think its dehydration due to the insanity programme I have been doing!

Mel3062 · 09/05/2014 19:32

Great news sue what relief x

shamrock72 · 10/05/2014 08:34

Freelance, Mel, Duggs and Suemay Thank you all for your reply. No need to tell you girls that sometimes we go way down in the dumps in our journey. Your messages give me hope. Still in limbo if I should inform Louise about this or just move on with this one ............. waves to all

freelancegirl · 10/05/2014 12:41

When is your next scan shamrock?

Yes good news Sue. I know what you mean about expecting the worst. I do that every time I have any test these days!

How you getting on Duggs? And our other pregnant ladies? I love it when they go a bit quiet as it's as though they've had to say - gulp I might be having a baby soon and it all starts to get a bit real :)

shamrock72 · 10/05/2014 16:48

@ Free next scan is coming Thursday morning here in Ireland. Still haven't contacted Mr.S his office or informed Louise that I'm in this current position.

willitbe · 10/05/2014 20:31

Shamrock - sorry you are going through the stressful early scan time. Have you ever considered going to the SIMs clinic in Dublin? They do treatment for NKC's too. I forget the name of the doc there who deals with recurrent miscarriage, but I have heard he is good.

Suemays - glad to hear the bloods turned out ok.
