I go to a mix of Harley St and new life, the latter which is a bit of a schlep but I am a self employed slacker so don't have to worry about getting back to an office. Mr S is happy to see you anywhere but it just depends on what appointments are available. Good luck! I'm excited for you. It's a relief to get a diagnosis and know you're really doing something about it.

Brown I echo what everyone else says and wish you all the luck in the world. I had DS on the treatment when I was 37 ---ok dammit a week before my 38th birthday and will be 40 this summer and currently ttc number 2 after one unplanned and untreated pregnancy sadly ended in miscarriage. I don't know when I would call it a day either but I would like to think I could try to stop it taking over my life with some cut off point. Who knows though! Either way, I hope it all goes well for you.

I've had a sad week, my lovely nan who I was very close to died. She was 99 and had had a wonderful life so there's a lot to be positive about but I she will leave a huge gap in my life as we were very close. It's kind of put any stress over ttc on the back burner.

Ari, are you lurking? I hear there are two babies in there!!! I'm so glad it's looking good so far.

Oh freelance sorry to hear about your nan. Hope you were able to see her in her last days. You must have so much on your mind, which I guess is good as at least you will not be overthinking about TTC.

So I just received my nkc test results in the post and they seem "very high" to me. I will try to copy over the results - but the number that stuck out was 50:10 nkc of 40% which would go down to 20% with pred of 10mg. These are from a lab called RICS but based on googling it seems my numbers are double of normal which is 20%. Anyone familiar with it and does this spell end of the road for me?

free So very sorry to hear about your Nan, she sounded like a wonderful lady and I've bookmarked her scone YouTube video! :) Yes, I'm lurking, and yes, there are apparently two babies. Aaarrgghhh!

I am always confused with the way different labs spell these things out Triple so no idea. I do know however that mine were very very high - in the top 5% Mr S ever sees in his clinic - and I have had a baby on the treatment so hopefully that is a good sign for others with very very high levels.

Do you know if they are ID twins yet Ari? I imagine whilst it fabulous it is also rather scary (aside from all the usual recurrent mc mentalling)! My best friend had ID twins when her first child was under three and she says the first year has been very busy and she has been pleased to return to full time work :) But loves it of course.

Oh and thanks for the lovely comments about Nan and also for bookmarking her scone making video Ari. She was indeed a very lovely and great fun person.

Whoever mentioned Facebook I am happy to hook up with any of you and am already friends with a few here - hence Ari and I talking about scone making video!

freelance thanks that gives me hope!! Were you on preds and intralipids or just pred?

As of today I have decided to go see Mr S and AF least hear what he says. Then I will decide - I just hope he doesn't make me do the test again. I don't think I want to pay again.

freelancegirl · 02/05/2014 13:25

Hopefully he will be able to use your tests. I find he is very fair and is aware that a most of us don't have huge funds available! He often mentions things you might be able to get with your GP (not NK Cells of course...) instead of going privately and when I asked him if it was worth me having intralipids in advance of a BFP he said best not waste money in case you don't get pregnant.

Yes I was on 25mg from ovulation, 40mg at BFP and intralipids at 4 BFP, 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks. I was also one of the first people he put on something called hydroxychloroquine - something he has been experimenting with to good outcome - and was on that until 30 odd weeks if I remember correctly.

You will be in good hands. Let us know how it goes!

free No, they're non-identical twins, which is probably just as well so I stand a chance of knowing which is which ;). Are you back under Mr S, just out of interest?

free I'm so sorry to hear about your nan. What a wonderful, long life though. You were lucky to have her with you for so many years.

mel you're very brave, supporting your mum in the middle of ttc and dealing with all the related issues. Hope you're doing ok.

Triplespin I've only been with Mr S since last October. Others on this thread are veterans! I found him (and this thread) via a brilliant article by freelance which was published in The Times. I'd had two children by then, and four miscarriages (each ending around week 7 or 8, typically after we'd seen a heartbeat on an early scan). I had other issues too: a few cycles of anovulation following my fourth mc, and an ovarian cyst which had to be drained. He dealt with both in no time at all: got my periods restarted, put me on his superovulation programme, and by the fifth cycle I was pregnant (not bad going at 44!) Sadly that pregnancy has just ended, very early - it was a chemical one, and most likely due to chromosomal problems (so the meds couldn't have saved it). I'm now trying again. If I can get a healthy embryo on board, then I feel that my chances on his protocol are good. I would definitely talk to him and ask him to interpret your results.

free best of luck with ttc this cycle!

Waves to everyone.

Thanks ladies for your kind support as I launch into SO cycle 6! We are DTD as if there's no tomorrow Blush

mel good luck for the ofsted and all the other things going on in your life.

freelance, village thanks for all the details. It is so reassuring to hear about your experiences. I guess I have to give it a go anyway and then make up my mind asi go along. It really is a minefield and so many different approaches to treating the immunes.

Ouch about the facial hair side effect from preds because I am just getting laser hair removal on my face!! I hope all the pain doesn't go wasted once I start on preds.

I would love to read your article freelance, please do send me a link.

Also wondering has anyone been given humira by Mr S as part of treating immunes?

Mrs P oh that lovely heartburn...!
