I feel quite lucky tbh my dd eats a variety of different food's. left to her she'd ask for fish fingers chips and beans every lunch and dinner but dhe eats pretty much what we eat. she doesn't like pasta with the exception of mac n cheese. shes love's home cooked meal like mince and tatties, steakpie lentil soup sausage and cheesy mash . she's also slept all night since she was weeks old! bet I get a wee monster this time round!
anyways I have a new craving. . . hard boiled egg mashed on toast! was up at 4 :30 boiling a batch (had2 alreadyBlush) anyone else eating strange things? x

mrsm22 · 16/03/2014 11:56

Hi Morerum - my DS eats quite a good variety of foods, it's just at the moment his eating doesn't seen to be too good but the range of foods he likes is good. Speaking of eggs, my DS had 3 boiled eggs for breakfast this morning. I made all 3 of us a boiled egg for breakfast and DS ate mine and DH's as well as his own! And he's had an apple this morning too so fingers crossed we are off to a good start today. I only eat my eggs hard boiled too. Have you had any other cravings? I haven't had any really and didn't last time. There's certain things I fancy but it's never anything that I wouldn't normally like or have (which sounds a bit boring ). I love cornflakes and Rice Krispies at the moment and red grapefruit too but I've always liked those things. Didn't you have a craving for Chinese food?

CallingAllEngels · 16/03/2014 12:31

I'm guessing morerum is feeling lucky Grin

3 EGGS! That's impressive!

Last time round I had a craving for milk in the 2nd trimester which was unfortunate as stopped my body absorbing iron so I had to ditch it and take a supplement.

Only 1 week left of the 2ww sits on hands...too early to test

mrsm22 · 16/03/2014 12:45

Hi Engels - sorry I didn't see your post as I think Morerum accidentally sent her post a few times (which so easily happens) so I only saw those posts and not yours until now. Your DS is 2.5, my DS was 2 at end of December so he's 2 and 2 and a half months. We eat between 5.30 and 6pm too and if DS refuses something like his actual meal I will offer him yoghurt, fruit pots and that sort of thing. I say thank God for formula milk as my DS loves it.
Hi Toothpaste - I think Engels is right, they can survive on so little and the drinking is the main thing. If they still have formula milk and like cows milk too then I think that's really good. I never thought about quiche, I don't know if my DS would eat that. He's a funny boy when it comes to certain foods. Funnily enough though, if we are out somewhere for the day i.e the seaside he will eat fish and chips! Loves fish taken out of the batter. I don't find pasta that easy. I can make spag Bol and lasagne but how would you make a simple tomato or veg sauce. (Sorry if that sounds stupid, if you have a recipe will you pm me or on here). I haven't made mac cheese for a long time either. I must try that with DS. My DS will even eat pasta just cooked and plain!

morerummorefun · 16/03/2014 12:52

wahahaha! wtf is going on there!

mrsm22 · 16/03/2014 12:57

Ha ha Morerum, don't worry. It so easily happens. I did it on my first post on this new thread! x
Engels - Good luck for your two week window!

lovesmycake · 17/03/2014 08:20

Morning, We have had an awful weekend DS has a vomiting bug poor little thing so have been up all night and now sat in work trying to keep my eyes open. He is at home with DH now though and getting lots of TLC :)
Welcome panda hope you have a lucky 1st cycle baby on the way :)

Cooking is my hobby so excuse me if I go off on one here but easy tomato sauce - fry off some chopped garlic add a tin of tomatoes then you can add some basil if you like and maybe a teaspoon of sugar (it brings out the flavour of the tomatoes) I use this sauce on pasta, on pittas to make mini pizzas and sometimes I add a tin of haricot beans for homemade beans on toast. We also tried a butternut squash sauce the other day which DS loved - boil a butternut squash you can add a stock cube to the water for extra flavour, then whizz it up so its super smooth ( you can add some of the cooking water to make a nice consistency) then add marscapone (we had philadelphia in the fridge so I used that!). Voila a really buttery smooth pasta sauce that is super healthy. I added chopped sausages and pasta :) My DS is a pretty good eater but there is one thing he really HATES like with a passion he acts as if im trying to poison him if I give him any type of cake!!!! How weird is that?

Im starting to get to that nervous edgy part of my TWW where im super excited and super scared at the same time and pretending I have lots of imaginary symptoms, 4 days and counting ........ who is testing soon?

mrsm22 · 17/03/2014 08:31

Hi Loves - So sorry about your DS. My DS had sickness and the other bug when he was 9 months old and it was awful, really hard work trying to keep them hydrated when they can't keep anything down. I hope he's on the mend very soon and that nasty bug doesn't last long. Bet you didn't want to leave him and go to work. What do you work Loves, are you full or part time? If cooking is your hobby, you could really help me. The basic tomato sauce.. Sounds fab but we don't eat garlic at all. I really can't eat it and don't think DS would. Could I make it without and if so, would you replace the garlic with maybe a bit of fried onion and then add the tons? Also do you make macaroni cheese and if so do you have a nice plain recipe? It's difficult if your child is a funny eater . Tonight we are having chicken stir fry for tea but I will roast a chicken breast for DS and cut that up with rice for him as he likes that. With the left over chicken tomorrow I could do something with pasta for DS but can never really think of what. What sort of things does your DS normally have for lunch? My DS isn't a cake lover (unlike me) but he likes chocolate and morrisons chocolate slices that come in a packet. Aren't they strange? Good luck today and hope you can keep your eyes open! x

Blondie276 · 17/03/2014 09:12

Hi there all,
I wonder if I could join you happy bunch? I have a 13 week DD and we have decided to start trying for another one sooner rather than later. I haven't had a period yet since having her and so not sure when or if I should test or just wait. I know your all probably thinking I'm mad but due to work commitments id rather have them closer together.
So- do I test or wait? I am guessing the chances of falling even before my periods have returned are very low ( I stopped BF 4 weeks ago) so we shall see what happens!

Hoping for lots of BFPs!!!

lovesmycake · 17/03/2014 09:38

mrs yes definitely to the fried onions that would be lovely. You could use it with the chicken for the pasta sauce too maybe an arrabiatta - chuck in some black olives and basil leaves maybe some chilli if you like a kick!! My DH makes the mac and cheese in our house its his 'thing' and it takes him forever!! but I added loads of grated cheese to that butternut thing for DS the other day and served it with macaroni and to me it tasted very like mac and cheese (DS is Scottish so told me it was nothing like mac and cheese which is a very particular thing apparently!!)

My DS eats lunch at nursery throughout the week and gets treated to some Norwegian staples - liver paste sandwiches, fish balls, fish pie etc. He is probably bored with what I give him - omelets, ham sandwiches or that fresh filled pasta ravioli stuff you can get. He loves prawns as well.....? I've given up trying to make him 'kids' food because what he likes and dislikes is really unpredictable he doesn't like potato?! So he eats what we eat and if he doesn't like his dinner he gets a bowl of porridge which he loves instead !! ......sorry for the essay post I can't concentrate on work at all.......ooh I work FT btw.

Hello blondie I could be wrong but I think your chances of getting PG even before your periods come back could still be quite high because you recently had a baby and that makes you quite fertile too?

Blondie276 · 17/03/2014 09:44

Thank you lovesmycake
I know there is a chance - just not sure at what point I test as I have no 'timeline' to go to so to speak. Maybe I'll don one at the end of the month if AF hasn't returned and go from there.

BetterNotBitter · 17/03/2014 10:02

Morning everyone, hope you all had a good weekend. Ours was a bit of a hectic blur as usual!

How are you gingerbread? I'm presuming it didn't turn out to be a short bleed? Definitely AF? Do you feel like you trust the results from the blood test?

Good that all was well at the midwife morerum ooooh and cravings!! Exciting. No, none here yet, I had them last time though but later on I think, probably about where you are now. How are you otherwise?

Wow toothpaste 24 weeks! How long will you work for?

Gosh, sorry for all of you who are struggling with fussy eaters. My dd has always eaten brilliantly (like yours morerum) and slept since 6weeks old too, but like all of them she has gone through the odd spell of not sleeping or eating (she had a few days of refusing pretty much everything last week) and I find it incredibly hard when she does that so I can't imagine how awful it is all the time. To be fair, I was determined she wouldn't be a fussy eater as I was the worst eater ever until I was about 18 and I hated being that way so from the first day of weaning I pushed her with all different things and flavours, she used to have herbs and spices in her purée sat 6 months, I got abit carried away!! But I love cooking like you loves & have always made pretty much every meal from scratch purely because I enjoy doing it so I don't find it a chore.

Oooh loves not long left to wait for you. When will you test? Sorry your ds has been poorly, there's nothing worse than when they're ill :( hope you don't get it!

Wow blondie you will have two close together!! Good luck!

How are you hungry? did you manage to recover from work last week over the weekend?

How's it going other than ds being a challenge with eating mrs? How are you feeling?

Hope everyone else is well too.

mrsm22 · 17/03/2014 10:04

Hi there Blondie and welcome - I'd agree with Lives. You are very fertile after having a baby. It can take 6 weeks plus though for your periods to return. You may still be waiting for a period or you could already be pregnant, difficult to say. So I 'd suggest you just randomly test and keep testing! I had a slightly similar situation, I am 27 weeks and 3 days pregnant expecting my second baby boy but when we started trying I came off the pill and like you thought I was waiting for a period before I would ovulate and get pregnant , but the period never came . I stopped taking the pill and within two weeks was already pregnant but had no idea. Just had to keep testing randomly until I got my BFP. So when you first come off the pill you are also very fertile, like when you've had a baby.
Hi Loves - my DH is Scottish too. Ask him about that mac cheese recipe if you don't think he'll mind. My DH won't eat potato either , only chips surprisingly! How's your DS doing, have you had an update from your DH?

morerummorefun · 17/03/2014 10:09

loves thanks for the tip ive never put sugar in by tomato sauce but will defo try it tonight making meatball and spaghetti a big favourite in our house dd will have meatballs and a garlic baguette as she's a little weirdo who wont eat pasta?!?!
We are currently waiting for the health visitor coming dont know why im worried but I am the forms they sent through are ridiculous - what is your one favourite thing about your child! honestly how do you pick that!
panda when are you poas?

morerummorefun · 17/03/2014 10:15

crossed post!
Welcome blondie and good luck!Smile
better im ok thanks very uncomfortable with the pelvic pain but yesterday I entered the 3rd trimester Grin so im now officially on the home stretch haha

lovesmycake · 17/03/2014 10:23

Yes had an update from DH, DS hasn't been sick again but is just sitting on DH (very unlike him hes like a whirlwind) and refusing to let go of his teddy or his dummy :( and now Im starting to feel like crap all sweaty and a bit vommy .........aw crap this day is about to get a lot worse

morerum what a ridiculous question really? Im surprised why that even matters to a health visitor? Congrats on the home stretch I found the third trimester whizzed by unlike the first two.

Will ask about the mac and cheese recipe though it may take up a whole page when it comes to cooking DH is all about the details very unlike my throw it in a pot approach!

mrsm22 · 17/03/2014 10:57

Thanks Loves. Oh I hope you're not coming down with the bug too.
Hi Better - I'm feeling good thanks. I'm 27 weeks and 3 days today so like Morerum I am also now just into the 3rd trimester. How are you?
Does everyone eat macaroni cheese and what is it nice served with?
More rum - is this your two year check? I never got asked anything like that.

morerummorefun · 17/03/2014 12:15

mrs yes 27 month check health visitor was very impressed with her and even got a kiss goodbye!
when we have mac n cheese we usually have garlic bread or skinny fries mmmm getting hungry all this food chat!

mrsm22 · 17/03/2014 17:01

Hi Morerum - I'm going to try making a mac cheese for tea one night this week so will report back on how it goes with DS. Glad your review went well x

CallingAllEngels · 17/03/2014 17:35

Dh makes macroni dutch style (or maybe just his style!) With chopped veg like carrots, courgettes, pepper, leek, mushrooms, ham, grated cheese and a bit of tomato ketchup. It's scrummy!

Hope ds is feeling better soon loves.

Another all night in his own bed for ds. Fx for tonight.

Welcome blondie.

Okay, only 6 days left of the 2ww.

HungryHorace · 17/03/2014 17:43

Hi Blondie. I'm currently 19+4 weeks' pregnant and have an almost 9 month old DD, so no madness vote from me! :-)

I'm officially half way if I have a 39 weeks section. Can't wait to see the consultant next week and be told an ELCS will be fine.

Better, the answer is no, not at all. The virus DD has had, combined with evil teething, plus having to do the housework means I'm still knackered. I'm a bit coldy too, with a sore throat, so feeling a bit sorry for myself!

Are you feeling much movement yet? I'm having a few wriggles and kicks, but not much. When is it meant to become consistent when you have an anterior placenta?

Loves, I hope you feel better soon, and your DS.

All the food talk has made me hungry. Not good when I'm on the bus going home!

Hi to everyone. Sorry I've not mentioned everyone. Too tired to remember all the posts. :-/

guinnessgirl · 17/03/2014 21:32

hi all. Sorry I've been AWOL for a while - DH and I decided to take focus off ttc and just enjoy each other's company without any pressure for a while, so I needed to just distance myself from it all for a bit. Anyway, all is well - AF got me on Saturday but I don't mind too much as it means my cycle's gone back to normal, so it's back to business as usual.

posting on my phone so can't read thru the whole thread ATM, but I'll be back in the mix properly in a day or two Smile

mrsm22 · 18/03/2014 06:25

Hi Guiness and Hungry and Engels!
Engels - Good news re your DS in his own bed. Wish I could say the same here but if I'm honest I'm feeling so tired again that I haven't been trying too hard. I'm 28 weeks on Friday and they say the tiredness sets in again. Doesn't help getting up at 6am each day with DS. Macaroni with veg in sounds good too.
Hi Loves - How is your DS today? And how are you feeling, I hope you and DH have managed to avoid the nasty bug?

lovesmycake · 18/03/2014 07:34

Morning, DS is back on form :) he had a little moment in the night so got into bed with us for snuggles but he was super excited to be back to nursery today. I wasn't sick in the end I felt much better after having something to eat felt a bit rough yesterday evening but again felt better after eating something.
Have had loads of symptoms of AF/ pregnancy and feel myself getting into that crazy over thinking headspace that catches me every month at this time so bear with me over the next three days. Whoops just got a bit teary- which i immediately chalk up as another symptom............sigh
How are the other TWW ers?

mrsm22 · 18/03/2014 08:08

Hi Loves - Glad your DS is feeling better and that you didn't catch it too. Does your DS love nursery? My DS will be starting next January as he will turn 3 in December. Ah it is frustrating when you're not sure if you are pregnant or about to get AF, the symptoms are so similar..feeling warmer than usual, emotional etc. When will you test do you think?
