Hi everyone,

I stopped pill around 25th Jan (after being on it for about 10 years) & I now have no idea what to expect! I realise you can revert back to regular cycles very quickly, or it can take months. But other than that, I have no idea what to expect really!! I had withdrawal bleed for 4 days after stopping pill then nothing since, so I guess I'm just (impatiently!) waiting for some signs/symptoms of ovulation whilst just DTD freely :) would love to chat to anyone else in the same boat!

That's ok circus! As I say, I need perspective! Haha!

Everything's sounding good for you though. FX for the short AF!! Smile

HenriettaTurkey · 21/02/2014 17:24

Does anyone have any 'symptoms' since being off pill? Have been off 8 days, no AF but a bit of stabbing in the womb. Very odd.

Tilly28 · 22/02/2014 20:58

Oooh can I join please! We decided the other day to "stop not trying" and I took my last pill on Tuesday! On normal break through bleed now! Very excited as iv been wanting to try for a while just had to wait for my partner to be ready :-)

dietcoketime69 · 23/02/2014 14:02

Hey everyone and welcome to the newbies!!

How are we all doing?! Just thought I'd drop by to see how everyone's getting along! I'm hoping af will arrive Tues and that'll be 14 days after I think I ovulated so will be chuffed to know I'm back in a normal cycle quite quickly - started with a bit of brown discharge this morn which I think can be normal a few days before af if I've read correctly on other threads?!! That will then mean I will be properly getting down to business in march around fertile time and then hoping for bfp at end of march!! :)

How's everyone else finding life after the pill?!

Hi All, well I tested this morning as I figured if by some miracle my cycles were following a normal 28 day pattern today would be AF due day. But of course it was negative!! so im thinking wait for AF and intermittently test once a week? doe you all think that sounds about right?! I know some of you are very anti POAS until you have prego symptoms, however so many people have nothing until they are 6 weeks and since I have no idea of my dates I think thats not going to be an option for me!! Hope your all well.
henrietta I have had the poking/stabbing pains fairly constantly since coming off the pill, I think I had 10 days of respite but thats it!

Beansprout30 · 23/02/2014 15:23

Been off the pill a week now and felt no different at all. When I took a break from pill a couple of years ago, AF came back straight away so fingers crossed it will be the same again this time! End of march would be perfect for me for bfp

sherbertlemon17 · 23/02/2014 15:50

Hi everyone and welcome newbies!

I think that sounds about right snowflake. It's tough having to do so much guess work so intermittent testing would be fine if you can handle the bfn's. I'm not sure I can. ??

Sounds promising dietcoke! Hopefully things will get going properly and then you can get back down to nuisances ASAP! Wink

Well I tested again this morning and got a bfn. Shock! Hmm I don't know why but I thought it might have been positive but like you snowflake with such a long cycle I have no idea of dates! Symptoms have been on and off since Thursday; achey back, sore boobs, increased ewcm, and feeling sick every now and again.

Could they also be symptoms of ovulation?

Jendo233 · 23/02/2014 16:53

Hi All,
So glad I found this thread, really need some advice/support
I took my last rigevidon pill on Friday 24th jan, had withdrawal bleed on tues 28th jan which lasted a few days, from 10th feb until 13th feb I had horrendously sore boobs and pains on left sides, also had some cm on 10th feb so hoping I maybe ovulated then. Since this Friday though I've had cramping and felt really down, been sobbing all last night and today really hoping its PMS and af is due. I've been on the pill for 12 years and just really want af to show so I know everything is ok and I can start to ttc properly.
Heard some horror stories about people not getting af till CD110 and am completely freaked out x

Snowflake27 · 23/02/2014 18:31

jendo my sympathies you sound like your having a right bad time of it. I presume though that after 12 years of having your hormones regulated by the pill coming off can leave them all over the place, I think everyone on here can vouch for that! But just want to throw it out there that you maybe do a test- you can get up duffed before even having a period straight after coming off the pill and symptoms all very similar!!

dietcoketime69 · 23/02/2014 19:21

Jendo you are my conception twin, just one day ahead of me!! I stopped pill on 25th Jan, ovulated (I think based on cm) on 11th Feb and am expecting af on tues!! Have started spotting today and a right emotional cowbag for the past week or so so defo think that's down to afs arrival in due course!! Didn't concentrate too much on trying to conceive this month as was just concentrating on my cycle but am pleased it seems to be doing ok, so am hoping will ovulate around same date in march and will be dtd loads around that time hoping for a bfp end of march!! :)

Dietcoketime69 how exciting! Lets keep in touch! After my rant on here, ive started spotting so feel much calmer, hoping af will in next few days ?? thinking positively for everyone on here hope we all get BFPs soon xx

Jendo233 · 23/02/2014 22:01

Thank you snowflake.
Ive actually started spotting now but if af doesnt start properly by tues i will be doing a test. Hope yr well

Jendo233 · 24/02/2014 06:23

Well ladies af is here! Grin all that worrying for nothing!
Looked at ovulation calendar so i know most fertile days for march. My doc told me to avoid opk kits, she said they arent strictly accurate and studies have shown that couples who dtd every 2-3 days throughout the month get same results, so am going with that. Am taking pregnacare conception tablets to prepare also they are only £5 on amazon ive heard great things x

cocolacocotte · 25/02/2014 11:25

Hi Jendo, glad to hear that you have a plan Smile

If I'm on a 28 day cycle, my period should start on Friday but I'm not feeling any different so far, except for Sunday when I was feeling a bit weepy but then I have some mild depression issues that could also have caused that. I suppose all I can do for the moment is sit around and wait.

Snowflake27 · 25/02/2014 13:04

coco do let us know if you poas on Friday won't you!
Cycle day 31 for me with no af tho I'm putting that down to moving house stress/just off the pill/being a bit ill With cold last week. Has anyone else tested or is planning too? Or is everyone at the point of wanting af to arrive so you can get on with it for next month?!?

Pussycat1one · 25/02/2014 15:43

I'm on cd 18. Been on night shift. Just woke up and was dreading going to the bathroom. Felt like AF again! That's twice in 2 weeks. snowflake I'm hoping I won't have to wait for my proper cycle.

Jendo233 · 25/02/2014 16:14

cocolacolette thats what i was like, i honestly felt like I was losing my mind! Im sure you'll be fine, this is a total waiting game, i get a lot of strength from thinking me oh and I will have a baby we just don't have a definite date yet. Stay strong everyone and think positively.
Smile

Tilly28 · 25/02/2014 16:38

I'm only 4 days off my pill and I just want this month to hurry up already so we can DTD!! It doesn't feel real at the moment! I can't remember what my cycles were like before I went on the pill as iv pretty much been on it the whole time so I know it's going to be hard not knowing when il be due AF etc!!

dietcoketime69 · 25/02/2014 21:12

Well af arrived today as I'd hoped as it means I was correct when I thought I ovulated! :)

Excited but scared now as really wanting bfp to happen in march now, didn't consciously ttc this month as really wanted to sit back and see what happened with cycle... But now I REALLY want it in march & am slightly concerned im goin to get very obsessed, all I keep thinking about is dtd like mad in 10 days or so for a good few days and then the 2ww will be unbearable!!! :) Will anybody else be timing themselves around the same time - jendo I believe you will be?!?! :)

OP posts:
Jendo233 · 25/02/2014 22:04

dietcoketime69 yes I will be, as per doc advice we will be Dtd every other day as soon as af is over. Doc said this is best way, my fertile time though is from 1 week tomorrow till the following Tuesday I'm looking forward to it trying not to obsess about it. I'm sure it will happen when it's supposed to xx

thamrin · 26/02/2014 09:47

Hi ladies! I wanted to join the chat too.. I also stopped the pill on 10th Jan after 10+ years on it. In the end i was taking 3 or 4 months of pills back to back i used to get such bad headache on pill free week (literally a constant 4 day headache guaranteed). I turn 30 this year and will be first baby.

since then I finally got my first real period on 22 feb... and it lasted 3 days! woohoo! so excited for a period!

sounds odd but i am trying NOT to conceive in march... DH and I don't want a xmas baby haha! so our plan was to stop birth control and see what happens has turned into trying not to conceive for a month. did i mention i POAS twice last month... trying not to obsess but i also love my red wine and so pleased to get period i could have a couple glasses haha.

look forward to hearing who gets first BFP!!! good luck xxx

cocolacocotte · 27/02/2014 13:26

Hi all,

no peeing on a stick for me as AF turned up on Tuesday, making my first post-pill cycle just 26 days. That seems short to me, what do you all think?

I have no memory of my periods before taking the pill but this one has been completely painless so fingers crossed they will stay that way (and that I won't have too many before a BFP)

Hi thamrin, I know that a lot of people do the counting thing and I have to admit that having my birthday just a few days before Christmas really sucked but I'm trying not to give in to the temptation to do the same as knowing my luck I'll calculate the 'optimum' month and then take another 6 months to get pregnant Grin

thamrin · 27/02/2014 13:42

I think for first period after being on the pill for so long you can't say any length of time is normal or abnormal. Mine took 40+ days. I guess it would take three months or so to regulate unless bpf before then....

It feels really good to be off the pill though IMO... Besides greasy hair and a huge sweet/chocolate craving I feel happier, less bloated overall better!

As for timing and counting days our plan was to stop trying not to get pregnant and see what happens... As for trying to avoid Xmas baby Sod's law it's gonna happen right... We'll have to seeeeee!

??

Beansprout30 · 27/02/2014 21:33

Hello all. Ive only been off the pill three weeks and ive convinced myself im preggers. Any little twinge I think it's a symptom! I didnt think id get like this, it's gonna drive me mad if we take months to conceive aaah!!

Sylvanas · 28/02/2014 10:14

Hi Bean, I've only been off the pill a week, still on the withdrawal bleed and we're not planning on actually TTC for a few months yet. But I still keep getting these silly thoughts in my head about how I might be pregnant. I know full well that I'm not but still, that little bugger of a broody voice in my head won't shut up.

Anyway, my point is, if you think you're going crazy, you're not alone. Grin On the other hand, it is actually possible that you are preggers!
