Anybody TTC after very recently stopping pill & no idea what to expect, please join in!!!

Hi everyone,

I stopped pill around 25th Jan (after being on it for about 10 years) & I now have no idea what to expect! I realise you can revert back to regular cycles very quickly, or it can take months. But other than that, I have no idea what to expect really!! I had withdrawal bleed for 4 days after stopping pill then nothing since, so I guess I'm just (impatiently!) waiting for some signs/symptoms of ovulation whilst just DTD freely :) would love to chat to anyone else in the same boat!

Hi, thought I'd join in on this discussion. I came off Femodene in May, had my normal breakthrough bleed, then exactly 28 days later bled again, although it was very very light. Since then I've had some more spotting on CD 21-23, but nothing since. It feels like my period is right round the corner (and has felt like that for 2 weeks now) but it's just not turning up. I'm definitely not pregnant, and I'm not sure I even ovulated.
I was on the pill for about 17 years and am now convincing myself I've messed up my gubbins! I just hope giving it time will sort it out...

Hi beanie bump, snap I came off pill in May, had break through bleed, first period then 51 days later. Had the worst cramps a week before it so much so I went to the dr's which I really don't do. He said it was very normal and then af arrived 2 days later. Was v light but arrived. I am hoping this month I might return to a more normal length cycle. I think I ovulated day 13 and if 28 day cycle then next wed I am due af. Really praying for bfp and have dtd a lot this month!

Hi Katybear, yeah it sounds pretty similar, although I haven't had those severe cramps, sounds awful! The most frustrating thing I've found is having a sort of phantom pregnancy - loads of symptoms that are "pregnancy signs" but nothing there to show for it! This thread has been so helpful in understanding it's related to the pill - I just wish my doc had warned me! We're not ttc but we're not not trying if that makes sense?! I just want my body to feel like it's doing what it should be before really getting down to business! Hope you get your bfp soon, but if not I hope af is more normal!

Ah thanks beanie. Agree on thread helping and on phantom symptoms. I am v annoyed at dr as I went before we started trying and he didn't warn me about what might happen when coming off the pill regarding symptoms, he also didn't warn me getting my cycles back might take some time!! Had I know I think we may have chosen differently but as hubbie says we can't turn back the clock. Praying as u say for either a more normal af or a bfp. Hope ur cycles return to normal soon to. X

Hi Katy - I'm CD 10 right now, still only my first cycle since stopping BC pills so who knows. I've been POAS and today got a faint chunky line on the OPK and my temp has gone down, so maybe I'll ovulate soon!

I hope so for u mzzf I haven't done opk at all so it's purely on the apps, going with dtd every other day from today for 10 day ish

Congrats pussycat, that's great news. Do you kind me asking a few questions? How long did it take u for coming off the pill? And did u ov test or just keep dtd?
I've been off pill since may cycle 3 here just entering what I think is 2 ww and am keen to understand other experiences which might prepare me :-)

I've been off the pill since start of February. I always knew when I would ovulate due to pain I would get in my womb area. I never dtd just for the sake of it, but yes we happened to dtd 2 nights before I got a positive test. I only do the occasional test so I could be sure I was ovulating.

Hi, thought I would jump on this post too.

I was taking the pill for 10years. I had my "period" that you get with the pill on 27th July and then took one pill and then we decided to TTC. I took my last pill 8 days ago and we have DTT about 3 times (working nights at the moment so hard to get on it). I have done 2 ovulation tests and the line is very very faint on both occasions. I'm assuming my period is due at the end of the month. I have had 2 BFNs (as expected) but I am so impatient.

It just seems impossible to get pregnant, time seems to be passing so slowly. I've been invited out with friends this weekend but can't drink just in case but then can't tell them the reason... Just feel a bit on my own as I'm not openly talking with friends and don't really know how to feel. I just can't wait for a BFP!!

Thanks pussy cat great info. Laura welcome u r in gd company here. So I've been ttc since may so no expert but my first period after withdrawal bleed took 51 days. 2nd cycle 25 days, cycle 3 day 19 now.

Completely understand the time passing, and the thought it won't happen it's v normal I, told it does happen u just have to be patient not an easy thing for me either. Re the drinking I have carried on drinking and I think most do as these things can take a while and it's tough to stay off it indefinitely.

My advice would b try and keep calm, and doing normal things and just try to dtd as often as poss. We aim for eod now whenever poss.

Hi ladies! I figured this is a fitting post for me. I took birth control pills for about 9 years due to irregular periods. I took my last pill on July 9th and ended my faux period around the 15th. I have yet to get a period and OPKs have been negative since I started using them (about 2 weeks ago). I have had bloating, sore nipples for the past week and this morning I woke up feeling like a cold was coming on but as the day has progressed I feel better aside from a very watery mouth (almost like I am about to throw up) and occasionally feeling hot. Worried that this is just a coincidence and that my periods will continue to be irregular which means ovulation is irregular. Thoughts?

Hello all, I am massively new to this - me and hubby Ttc - this will be his 2nd, my first - took my last pill 20/08. I was on maverlon for 3 yrs - previous to this I was microgynon for 12 yrs. I had my bleed 21/08-24/08. I am currently having cramps and loss of appetite and fatigue, presumably this is just my hormones going back to normal??? Interestingly enough I switch to marvelon as microgynon started to give me adult acne, but since coming off the pill I haven't had any breakouts and my skin is clearer than ever lol - we have dtt quite a few times since coming off the pill. But no idea where abouts I am re cycles etc, sorry for the ramble!

I came off cerazette on sept 9th and started my bleed today. I believe that with this pill you don't get a breakthrough bleed but an actual period. Can anyone clarify?

So I've had a wonderwonderful lazy Sunday morning reading this thread. I an see it's been quiet for a month but hopefully I can revive it?

I stopped taking Microgynon in September. Had my withdrawal bleed on 23rd for 3 days then two days later I started spotting quite heavily (heavy enough to use two pads a day for a day or two) for 4 days.

Just over two weeks ago I had A LOT of EWCM which I was really pleased about because I thought af would come along as normal but there is so sign of her just yet. If you take the first day of my withdrawal bleed as CD1 then I'm on CD34 now.

My OH and I haven't been trying this month (our plan was to start after christmas) but the last few times we've had sex we haven't used any protection and I can't imagine that we will again. I guess we're not avoiding Smile.

Would love to chat to others who have just come off the pill! My body is making me crazy (cramps and twinges and really sore nipples)! Just want AF to show her face so badly! Hopefully they'll be a few more BFPs over the coming months! Xx

I decided to try BC once more. Didn t like it. I stopped the 3rd week. I had withdrawal/period bleed. Now about 11 days later I have spotting. Is it ok?

I haven't had a period in 12 months now. My daughter is 15 months old. I have been to gp who referred me to clinic and then they sent me back to gp so I'm just been sent round the houses.
Is there anything anyone can recommend that will make my period come! I know I can get pregnant if I just get my period back. Some people have said to take my combination pill for a few weeks and then stop, some said to take 8 of them at once and it will start! Some have suggested vitex.
Anything?
