Hi everyone,

I stopped pill around 25th Jan (after being on it for about 10 years) & I now have no idea what to expect! I realise you can revert back to regular cycles very quickly, or it can take months. But other than that, I have no idea what to expect really!! I had withdrawal bleed for 4 days after stopping pill then nothing since, so I guess I'm just (impatiently!) waiting for some signs/symptoms of ovulation whilst just DTD freely :) would love to chat to anyone else in the same boat!

Cow biscuits I didn't realise that you didn't get a withdrawal bleed coming off the mini pill- this is the pill I came off and just presumed as I bled straight away that that's what it was. So does that mean it was af then? All very confusing!!
diet I figure you get 20 tests for under £3 and the whole pack probably won't be dud so it's still cheaper than buying from the shops as I suspect we'll all turn into poas addicts before the end!!

Spotti · 12/02/2014 10:15

Don't talk about ICs...I'm trying desperately hard to resist buying some (20 for under £3 is too tempting) because I know I will turn into more of a nutter than I am already!

I like your idea bellaboo - I'm going to follow your philosophy of "I will not test unless I get BFP symptoms". Was kind of doing that anyway but now you've inspired me to stick to it. Wanna be 'anti-POAS buddies'? I have chocolate cake and cookies...;p

BubaBoo · 12/02/2014 15:54

ohhh I never knew that thank you cowbiscuit, just assumed as I had afs regular when on it that would stay the same. ohh well never mind just have to see what happens. would like the sore achy boobs to go as never get that normally. Think I was on micronor or something as I bf ds.
Thank you for shedding some light xx

Orlea · 12/02/2014 16:12

Hi OP, this was me a few months ago (stopped Microgynon in October and started ttc properly in December) and I'm now somewhere around 6 weeks pregnant... way quicker than expected!! I'm happy but also in shock. My cycle was regular from the start (as in, from the first 'real' period) and (tmi?) I got the ovulation mucus stuff halfway through and some slight cramps which may have been ovulation cramps, or wind... Wink I also got horrendously achy boobs every week before AF, and had a good couple of weeks of achy boobs in January before realising that AF hadn't shown up... waited a bit longer and then got my BFP. So it can happen a lot quicker than you expect! Good luck Smile

boobs still aching btw

cocolacocotte · 12/02/2014 17:11

Hi everyone,

I hope you don't mind if I join you all. I stopped taking Trinordiol (discontinued in the UK apparently but still prescribed where I live) on Feb 1st and am now wondering what the hell I'm letting myself in for...

It has taken my DH and I a long time to finally decide to do this and I really, really want to start a family but a couple of times I've been on the verge of giving myself a good shake and going back on the pill. Does anyone else feel like that sometime or am I alone in my craziness?

Snowflake27 · 12/02/2014 17:40

No coco not alone, I sometimes feel the same, really want this and totally excited but I'll suddenly be doing something and realise wow this will ALL change when there's a kid involved- scary! But we want this as I guess you do so I'm just looking at the whole situation and thinking 'change is good !!' it's a whole new adventure for us and I'm looking forward to that! ( but please remind me of this post if/when I get a bfp and start freaking out!

BubaBoo · 12/02/2014 17:46

Hi everyone! I'm glad I found this thread because I'm so confused that it's starting to stress me out!

So I took my last pill (Rigevidon which is the same as Microgynon) on Jan 16th. Withdrawal bleed was from Jan 17th to 20th.

When the frick is CD1?! I literally have no clue how this all works and what day I'm on.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks x

bellaboo88 · 12/02/2014 22:35

Haha spotti deffo, cake & cookies and 'anti poas' badges maybe?? Lol!!

Pips, cd1 (cycle day1) is day your AF starts & continues through your cycle until we guess/confirm we ovulate & we change it to 'dpo' (days past of but I read it as days past orgasm oops!) Dpo1 is day after u ov tho! You'll get the hang of it especially if you use apps...it helps us work out where we are :-)

Could everyone on this thread dig it up when they get their bfp & let us all know, will b good for googlers (like me a few months ago) plus it will keep us all informed if your not a 'busses sort of person' :-)

cowbiscuits · 12/02/2014 23:33

Aunty Flo arrived tonight, her second proper visit since stopping the pill. It's day 34. This explains my bad mood and desire for a big chinese takeaway yesterday. I'm quite pleased to know where I am cycle-wise, but I doubt the next cycle will be the same length. Have ordered some ovulation tests online.

Good luck everyone!

Pussycat1one · 13/02/2014 00:23

Hi dietcoke, I'm the same. Just finished my withdrawal bleed from my last pill packet. Feeling anxious and excited. Not sure what to expect either. I last fell pregnant straight away but that was 17 years ago. I also had never been on the pill until after I had my son. Part of me hopes I can get pregnant straight away again but maybe that's wishful thinking.

bellaboo88 · 13/02/2014 08:13

Diet coke, I'm on Feb/march threads don't know if you've read them but at one point I decided to dig about habit & read they're not reliable...for some reason some ladies get bfps early as 8/9dpo whilst others not until 16/17...its either mixed up dates or tests such as 10miu 'look' strong but aren't reliable....one retailer of them admitted they're not the most 'sturdy' test, the 20miu is more reliable.

For this reason I'm not going to drive myself mad with poas torture....waiting for missed AF. There's a lot of ladies recently had chemicals...a positive bfp then bfns days later....personally I'd rather not know, I'd be heartbroken over a non sticky.

1 poas test in bathroom, I will make it worth it!! Anti-poas club proud member:-)

cocolacocotte · 13/02/2014 09:15

Thanks snowflake it is reassuring to know that I'm not the only one Smile

I guess now all I have to do is keep shagging and wait to see how my body reacts to coming off the pill after over 10 years. I don't remember having any particular problems with my periods before the pill so hopefully they'll settle down quickly.

Has anyone else lost weight since they stopped? Ice lost 1kg in 2 weeks Grin

dietcoketime69 · 13/02/2014 10:08

Hi to all the newbies, glad to see we have a little gang growing!! Wonder who'll be the first to get their bfp? We must all promise to come back & tell all, good & bad news!! I'm defo gonna try and not get obsessed about the poas thing, just gonna wait for when expect af to arrive which I think will be about 12 days time as "think" I ovulated on Tues so we will soon see...!

Coco - that's great news of the weight loss, wish that would happen to me haha!

OP posts:
Snowflake27 · 13/02/2014 11:02

diet I'm up for keeping everyone up to date with the bfp/bfn news (don't think I'd be able to help myself!)
coco did you want to lose weight, If so it's one of the good side effects of coming off the pill I think as a lot of my friends put on weight whilst on it so I guess it comes off after you stop taking it?
cowbiscuits shame about af but at least it's good for figuring out your cycles as you said. Good luck!!
I'm testing on 23rd so that's 10 days time, why not!

whereswaldo · 13/02/2014 11:13

Hi All, I'm in this position too. I've counted CD1 as first day of withdrawal bleed (last pill was 1st Jan, withdrawal 5th Jan). So my first cycle was 31 days.

DH wants to wait a little longer before officially TTC- I think he reckons it is going to happen immediately so I am just getting prepared and trying to understand my body a bit.

Been on Microgynon/Rigevdon for 12 years so really don't remember what periods were like before!

cocolacocotte · 13/02/2014 13:36

snowflake I didn't notice that I put weight on when I started taking the pill but I do have quite a bit to spare so I'll take what I can get...

pips84 · 13/02/2014 13:59

Ah it's all beginning to make sense now! So basically I need to wait for AF and that's CD1, and if AF still hasn't arrived in a few more weeks it might be worth testing. In a weird way I'm looking forward to AF so that I know where I am!

Random question, but does anyone know whether it runs in the family as to how quickly you conceive? My mum conceived me and both my sisters in the first month of trying, and my sister got pregnant accidentally within 2 weeks of running out of pills and not getting more. Obviously it depends on the other half as well but I'm thinking if other ladies in my family found it easy it might be similar for me? Or is that just wishful thinking?!

Beansprout30 · 13/02/2014 22:40

Hello, can I join please? DH and I decided we will go for it after discussing for last few months but hesitating! Finished my last pill pack last weekend. Hoping it will happen quick before I freak out and change my mind hehe :) may I ask what age we all are? Im 30 turning 31 this summer

CleverCircusFlea · 14/02/2014 07:25

Hi, Beansprout :)
I'm also thirty, will be turning 31 in October!

Coco - I think I said it in another thread - I am trying to lose weight, so did expect it to go down anyway but it seems to be much easier to lose weight off pill than it was on it! I've lost 5.5 kg in a month!

In other news - still no af.... CD32 (I think?)

Hazelbrowneyes · 14/02/2014 08:41

Envy at all the weight loss. I came off Yasmin and put 5lbs on Angry I still haven't managed to lose it.

I think I may have missed ovulation this month. I’ve been waiting for severe cramps like the last two months and haven’t had them so knowing our luck, we’ve missed the right time!

An app predicted I’d OV on CD15, now CD18 and I have no idea if I’ve ovulated yet. I had cramps on CD16 & CD17 so that could have been it. EWCM arrived on CD12.

DTD on CD11, CD12, CD14, CD15, CD17.

I’m already disappointed as I have a feeling this is going to take us a long time but equally a bit relieved that I don’t have a definite date of ovulation so I can’t symptom spot this month!

I’m not expecting AF to arrive on CD28 this month (25th Feb) so I think I’ll be holding off testing until after CD32 if she doesn’t arrive in the meantime.

I'm another who can't understand POAS before AF is actually due. I don't have any pregnancy tests in the house and I intend to keep it that way Grin

cocolacocotte · 14/02/2014 08:53

clevercircusflea that's great! well done! Fingers crossed I can do as well as you...

Hi Beansprout, I turned 32 in December and DH will be 40 in March. We've been together for over 10 years, married for 5 and I think our families have abandonned all hope of us ever actually having kids...

Beansprout30 · 14/02/2014 10:57

Ha same with my family coco, cant wait to see my mothers reaction when I can eventually tell her she's going to be a granny

Pussycat1one · 14/02/2014 17:25

Hi Beansprout

I'm 35 tomorrow! I was 17 when I had my ds. So young! This will be my current partners 1st child. Just started TTC and bought the conception gel today. Not bothering with the fertility sticks just yet. Hoping that I'll be as lucky as the 1st time. Anyone else tried the gel?
