Hi everyone,

I stopped pill around 25th Jan (after being on it for about 10 years) & I now have no idea what to expect! I realise you can revert back to regular cycles very quickly, or it can take months. But other than that, I have no idea what to expect really!! I had withdrawal bleed for 4 days after stopping pill then nothing since, so I guess I'm just (impatiently!) waiting for some signs/symptoms of ovulation whilst just DTD freely :) would love to chat to anyone else in the same boat!

HenriettaTurkey · 05/03/2014 17:05

In still waiting for first AF, having come off pill on 13/2. Blimmin ages ago!

Pussycat1one · 05/03/2014 22:58

I'm showing signs of my AF arriving in the morning so that will cd1 I guess. Feel so upset even though I knew it would. Sad

Sylvanas · 06/03/2014 12:19

Thanks Pussycat

thamrin · 07/03/2014 06:21

Hi TTC ladies. Lovely to hear so many of you are TTC #1 and in the same boat. Equally awesome to hear of the TTC #2's all after big age gap, my mom had me at 21, and had my half brother at 41! so it is clearly possible (even if a mistake not intentional ha!)

CD14 for me... potentially ovulating (who knows), I'm the one "trying" not for a xmas baby although dtd yesterday... hmmm

on another note:
hubby & i are expats in a very religious country where the doctors answer to a friend of mine was "you will get pregnant if god gives you a baby" haha, always makes me chuckle and i say this to myself often. by the way my friend now has a 4 month old baby so obviously god felt obliging...

like some of you mentioned... i have gone from least broody person who was almost afraid of babies to a symptom spotter ever so excited to have a baby...

good luck ladies!! xxx

I think we've missed our chance this month Sad. Going by the length of my last cycle I still have 17 days till my next period, but I think I've ovulated a couple of days ago (haven't been using opks, this is just my guessing from cm observations) and we have not had a chance to dtd last week at all (dh working away and when he wasn't I was on night shifts Angry).
Need to make more effort I think!

cowbiscuits · 07/03/2014 15:01

Hello everyone

Back again having just got AF this morning. My body is clearly all a bit all over the place as I've had a 33 day cycle then a 24 day cycle. When it started I thouth it might be an implantation bleed (wrongly thought I was ovulating last weekend) but, no, it's turned out to be Aunty Flo visiting early.

I'm guessing the reason we missed the ovulation boat was because it had sailed early this month.

Perhaps we will just have to spend most of March shagging on the off chance.

Ah well. AF is an excuse to have chocolate and wine.

Good luck everyone

HenriettaTurkey · 07/03/2014 15:03

Sorry to hear that flea - it's difficult finding time to dtd though sometimes! We plod on once a week. Rubbish. Will be more focused once AF returns & I have an idea of my cycle.

Been off cerazette 3 weeks now. No AF but 3 migraines! I normally get a couple a year, so this is really odd. Anyone else? Wondering if I should see doc about it. It may not even be related.

Tilly28 · 07/03/2014 18:39

Iv had a couple of horrible headaches this week! Which I keep wondering if they are withdrawal from the pill or a sign of ovulation? Been off the pill almost 3 weeks now. Bfp due 22nd March (if I have a regular 28 day cycle that is)! Bought some pregnancy tests online. Think my partners realising his idea of let's just stop using contraception might not be as relaxed as that lol! It's so easy to get excited about it all! :-)

Pussycat1one · 07/03/2014 23:48

Sounds like we're on the same cycle this month cowbiscuits Today is officially cd1 for me.

CleverCircusFlea I work night shifts too some times. Often wonder if temping will work when I don't have a regular sleeping pattern. I haven't started with testing yet. I might just see how it goes naturally first. I don't want to be stressing over ovulation days.

HenriettaTurkey · 08/03/2014 10:03

My AF finally arrived this morning - so there seem to be a few of us on similar cycles. Hopefully that'll explain the migraines, and I'll be back to normal soon.

Also, I'm finally going to be able to start filling in my apps! Is anyone else using any?

mrshjb · 08/03/2014 10:40

Hi ladies, can I join please?! I came off yasmin at the end of October after being on various pills for around 10 years. First cycle was 55 days, second was 29 days and now I'm 51 days and counting! Sooo stressful. Got all the OV pain and EWCM when I would have expected to ovulate at the start of this cycle and when AF didn't turn up I thought I would get my BFP. But had several bfns since. Been to the doctors she said that it's quite normal to be all over the place after coming off the pill and also normal to only have periods every 6-7 weeks ish. Am wondering whether I have skipped a period again this month and the next one will show up when I expected my second. If that makes sense. Anyways all very annoying! Periods were regular before going on the pill, but obviously that was a long long time ago! Not overweight and don't smoke or drink excessively.

Anyone else experienced anything like this or have you all been relatively regular after coming off the pill?

Pussycat1one · 08/03/2014 13:33

HenriettaTurkey I'm using fertility friend app* I find it really good and their website is great for info too.

mrshjb I only came off the pill at the start of Feb. I hear it takes a few months for our cycles to get back into rhythm again. I've been on quite a few different types of contraception since 2006 without a break. I've been on depo for 3 months and implanon for 10 months. So glad I didn't stay on either because I hear other girls are struggling to even get an af for months coming off them.

mrshjb · 08/03/2014 17:03

Pussycat- yeah I've read it's quite common for it to be 6 months to a year, just doesn't make life easier when you're wanting to TTC though! I'm on another thread where a girl stopped her pill at the same kind of time as me, periods went straight back to normal and now has her BFP! So it does happen for some people :)

CrispsAndChoc · 09/03/2014 10:17

Hi everyone, stopped taking Norgeston this week so reading the thread with interest. I've been on different forms of contraception for most of the last 12 years so am hoping it won't take long for my cycle to settle. Good luck everyone!

Littlebear81 · 10/03/2014 21:28

Hi everyone,
Came off the pill end of Nov after 9 years. Had withdrawal bleed as normal, then 40 day cycle followed by 42 days. Had pre AF cramps of and off for two weeks before first proper AF but less last month. Not using OPKs so just DTD every 3 days or so between periods.
Smile

HenriettaTurkey · 11/03/2014 09:14

Morning all! Hope you're well. Still on AF here. I had somewhat forgotten that the reason I went on the pill initially was because of my ridiculously heavy periods which made me anaemic & very achy & bleargh each month. They almost entirely vanished on the pill so this is a massive shock. I'm pretty floored by the whole thing - and have to say it really is a very similar feeling to early labour.

Because I conceived DC1 almost immediately last time I never had a real period so it's been a while. Great incentive to dtd lots when I ovulate though - I can't handle years of this Hmm

Off to supermarket to buy lots of yummy iron rich foods now!

mrshjb · 11/03/2014 11:55

Well I've started spotting so guessing AF is on her way. Currently on cd54 so very like my first cycle. Wondering if I am skipping a period each time this happens.

I was also worried I'd have awful heavy long periods again. Last normal one I had was shorter and lighter though!

Sounds awful for you though. Hope you get your bfp soon!

Beansprout30 · 11/03/2014 20:57

Hi all, I was hoping for bfp even though I only came off the pill last month but I am feeling af twinges so she must be on her way. At least i know everything is back to working order after coming off pill

Jendo233 · 13/03/2014 11:58

How is everyone?
I'm having af type cramps 4dpo, really bad headaches too, not thinking too much into as we ended up BD everyday for 4 days prior to OD (which happened on sunday if cramps and EWCM are right) but not actual OD.
Going to stick to BD every other day from now on Wink

thamrin · 13/03/2014 14:57

Hi ladies... I'm surprised no one has had bfp yet I thought someone would have some good news for us :). I am on CD20 and my hormones I guess are raging wild my nipples are KILLING me they are so hard and so sensitive! Hopefully not tmi but I have never had this before And can only assume its a cycle side effect I've skipped for ten years while on the pill...

Anyone else had weird cycle symptoms?

Pussycat1one · 13/03/2014 15:10

thamrin I was the same last month. Sore nipples, mood swings, emotional. This month I feel more normal thank goodness! I'm just chilling this month about ttc. Last month I thought I was going insane about it but it was probably hormones with coming off the pill. I can't really track my fertility because of the crazy shifts I do, so just going by my fertility app. Will try bd every other day when we can. Fx everyone gets a bfp soon!

CleverCircusFlea · 17/03/2014 08:52

How's it going? Going by the length of my last cycle, I am now exactly a week before af. This time last month I was all crampy and getting that uncomfortable pre period feeling, but so far this month - nothing. I hope this cycle doesn't turn out to last ages...

Tilly28 · 18/03/2014 20:13

Hello everyone very quiet on here! I'm due AF on Saturday (if I have a 28 day cycle) however as it's first month off the pill I'm not too sure. When is the best time to test? Should I wait until after AF is due? Keep reading up on pregnancy symptoms and I'm sure I'm just imagining I have some lol! :-)

dietcoketime69 · 19/03/2014 07:28

Hi tilly, mines due on tues and I've not noticed any symptoms of bfp :( i'm just waiting till tues and will go from there if for some miracle af doesn't arrive :)
