Hi everyone,

I stopped pill around 25th Jan (after being on it for about 10 years) & I now have no idea what to expect! I realise you can revert back to regular cycles very quickly, or it can take months. But other than that, I have no idea what to expect really!! I had withdrawal bleed for 4 days after stopping pill then nothing since, so I guess I'm just (impatiently!) waiting for some signs/symptoms of ovulation whilst just DTD freely :) would love to chat to anyone else in the same boat!

HenriettaTurkey · 05/05/2014 17:30

Having to take a break from here now Angry

I've got a dodgy hip that needs xraying and may need other things doing, so my physio has delicately suggested I stop ttc for a month or so...

Of course this was the day after DH & I dtd because I'm probably ovulating! So we shall see...

Hello you lot! Not sure how I missed this post-pill ttc-ers thread when I joined - totally fits my description!! Came off the pill (ovranette) at Christmas and have been having the longest cycles ever since!!

Cycle 1: 97 days
O: day 60? (Wasn't sure!)
AF: 34DPO

Cycle 2: 40 days
O: day 29
AF: 11DPO

I'm predicting a 33-35 day cycle3, so will see how that goes. On CD1 today. Am really surprised at how few other people have had such long cycles after the pill, as everything I read online said that it could take 6 months to get your first natural period! Luckily it only took me 3.

Excited to be able to use my CBFM properly this cycle - the previous two have been way too long, wasted tons of the pricy sticks, and the machine got bored at CD25 and gave up on me!! Lol. Don't blame it, the whole thing was pretty bloody yawn, frankly.

Massive congrats to the two ladies with BFPs on this thread!! Thanks

thamrin · 06/05/2014 13:54

hi ladies, anyone got any news? cd11 on cycle 4 for me. DH is away for four days, back for one, away for four, etc etc... so TTC is seeming to be a slow process odds are not in our favour....
he's back tomorrow night so better be feeling excited to see me Wink Wink this month I'm determined to officially TTC.
how about our ladies with their BFP's, hope u keeping well? or have they abandoned us already for the pregnancy boards? Wink

April1984 · 07/05/2014 10:18

Hi all just started my two week wait. Think I ovulated yesterday. I'm hoping so as this is second cycle off pill and ttc. I have been using opks and said I had lh surge last month and this. Hoping that means all is well post pill. My first cycle was 26 days so due af on 20 may if this cycle is the same. Anything could happen post pill it seems though so trying to not get my hopes up. The two week wait is the worst bit! Do you guys abstain from alcohol etc during that time? It's difficult as this could take months! Shock

April1984 · 07/05/2014 10:19

Good luck tonight tamarin Wink

ChandlersFarang · 07/05/2014 11:41

April, good luck and fingers crossed!! I moderated my alcohol intake but didn't stop drinking completely - from what I've seen on the boards here not many do stop completely. I've recommended this book a few times on various threads but check out Expecting Better by Emily Oster - she's an economist and looks at all of the research on all these types of questions (what you should/shouldn't do/eat/drink before and during pregnancy) and then comes to some very useful conclusions so you can make your own mind up.

On alcohol during TWW, essentially, a fertilised egg is a collection of cells. If any of those cells are damaged at that early stage (by heavy drinking/drug use) they will be replaced by an identical cell and the resulting baby will be unaffected. However if you kill too many of the cells through that activity then you will not end up pregnant at all. So it's all or nothing basically. The book helps you understand this kind of science so you can make your own decision. Hope that helps! Smile

MrsCorr · 07/05/2014 11:50

Hi ladies, got some bad news last week. After getting my BFP last Sunday & doctor confirming on Monday I started bleeding on Wednesday & sadly miscarried. Was only a few weeks along which my doctor is calling a chemical pregnancy, meaning it was just cells & didn't evolve into anything. She told me there is no reason I can't get pregnant again quickly if I want to, will probably be more fertile for a few months. My husband wants us to try again this month but don't know If I can deal with anything bad happening again so soon.
Anyway, wanted to update you all and wish you the best of luck this month. Hope you all get BFP's & have sticky babies ??

Pussycat1one · 07/05/2014 11:56

Must look up on that book Chandlers.

Sorry to hear about your loss MrsCorr Sad

April1984 · 07/05/2014 12:19

Thanks chandlers, that's really helpful! I will look up that book too. Good to know I don't have to be tee total for months on end too! I have definitely had less alcohol recently though.

So sorry to hear that MrsCor. Must be so difficult after getting a BFP.

ChandlersFarang · 07/05/2014 12:39

MrsCorr Thanks I'm so sorry to hear that!! It's a nice evolutionary compensation that you can be more fertile after this kind of loss, but it must be tough to move forward particularly quickly. All the very best for the next few weeks!!

ChandlersFarang · 07/05/2014 12:44

April I found myself not really ever wanting more than 2 drinks in my first 2ww over the last fortnight... I just had a couple of bottles of beer each night at the weekend which is probably the weakest option!

The book also taught me that it's all about the speed at which you drink - if you give your body time to metabolise the alcohol then that's safer than excess wheeling around in your system, appaz. WineWine

Knottyknitter · 07/05/2014 12:51

I stopped in early December, had a couple of odd cycles including one of 35days over the first few months, but felt normal pretty quickly.

Got my BFP on Easter Sunday, and 6+5 today!

From my experience it takes a lot more to get pregnant that sex education led me to believe! (Did OPKs but not temping, & the month we got the bfp was the month i was writing off as we didn't do enough at the right times iyswim )

Good luck!

ChandlersFarang · 07/05/2014 13:19

Wow congrats Knotty!! That's ace news, thanks for coming back and filling us in!! Hope it happens that quickly for the rest of us too, very encouraging.

What does 6+5 mean by the way..? X x

Knottyknitter · 07/05/2014 15:42

6 weeks, 5 days.

ChandlersFarang · 07/05/2014 16:46

Thank you!! Smile It must feel so weird not to be able to tell everyone - that must seem like ages, but still a long wait til 3 months!! (If that's how you're going about it, of course). Is it really hard?!

Knottyknitter · 07/05/2014 19:33

Prospective gps know already, ass does my personal trainer, but that's it so far! Not too hard, as some people knowing takes the edge off!

ganda1 · 07/05/2014 21:01

Hi everyone,

ganda1 · 07/05/2014 21:06

Hi everyone, I'm new to forums but I thought I could get peoples opinions. I've been on the pill for 10 years and came off very end of march. Had withdraw bleed as normal, but nothing since. I've been having cramps, my boobs are extremely painful and tender( never had it during pill or before pill) and that feeling when ur about to start, like a damp feeling(sorry if tmi). I was regular as clockwork before I went on the pill so a little concerned.

How can I know if I'm ovulating, and when do I take tests to find out if I'm pregnant?

Thanks ?
