duggs1976 · 17/01/2012 22:21

hey ladies,

There are a few of us who are ttc after mc's, however there will be ladies out there who are also ttc for the first time or second or third without success. If anyone is on, considering or had success on a super ovulation programme then do join us. How long did it take ? Did you try IUI with it.. ? Did you have PCOS?

Kicking this off and hoping some of you will join....

Fingers crossed for you. My probs seem minor compared to some on the threads. It's not any extra complications with me as far as I know just TIME......If only I was a couple yrs younger!
My sis has a 5 yr old from a frozen embroyo, it's amazing when you think about it.

eurochick · 25/01/2012 13:50

It is amazing. A close friend of mine has a 3 yr old and baby twins all from frozen embryos from the same round of IVF!

I guess my problems are minor too - there aren't any (apart from one high marker of NK cells). As far as the NHS is concerned everything is working well and we are "unexplained". It is very frustrating.

Pebbles73 · 25/01/2012 14:14

Did I read correctly on here that nobody has had scucsess from doing super ov?? It does worry me that am going to waste time doing this and then ending up going back to IVF anyway......

Snoopy seems like a good idea to ttc this month just with the pred as even if you don't get succsess I think mentally you will feel so much better for being able to have a go. I find the waiting between ttc so hard! let us know what Louise says.
Does anyone who is on metformin find it makes them feel quite queasy and sorry for tmi sick in your mouth sometimes?? I find although I get hungry the actual thought of food makes me feel really queasy in the same way it did when I had my BFP in Sept.

Pebbles73 · 25/01/2012 14:33

Oh and meant to say funny you should say about your sister and friend having babies from frozen embryos I have only ever got a bfp with ivf when they were frozen and never with a fresh embryo!
Euro the whole unexplained thing is frustrating so I feel for you.

suemays · 25/01/2012 14:40

I don't have any side effects on the superov plan, only the preds which make me manic and want to whizz around the house cleaning until 3 in the morning (this is not the norm for me)! I dont take metformin though so maybe thats the difference?

Has anyone thought of IUI with the superov plan? That is supposed to increase the success rate. I think I will give it 4 rounds on the superov plan and then investigate whether IVF would be an option as I dont want to waste any more time either.

Duggs I still reckon the prob might be with your DH rather than the quality of your eggs.

Louise at NLC said to me that IVF is not the easy option - she has done it apparently so its best to go down the superov route first. If I went down the IVF route I would try and freeze some embryos so that if I still couldnt carry them I would try the surrogacy route. Just need to convince DH first as he doesnt want to do either. Dont forget that its normal for most couples with no TTC probs to conceive within 12 months so maybe we are all expecting to get preg too fast?

BTW, amazon are doing twin packs of first response preg tests for £5.81 at the mo!

eurochick · 25/01/2012 14:50

I'm not on Met, sue so that doesn't explain it for me. As I said though, I have always felt the effects of any hormonal drug so I think it is just me being me!

I've seen two close friends go down the IVF route (it's slightly odd that in our little gang of three, it looks like we are all going to end up there). I am absolutely dreading it. It is definitely not the easy option. Not least for me because of all the hormone injections and the effects of those....

Pebbles my friend had three attempts - the first with a fresh embryo failed. The next two with frosties succeeded. The other friend has had one unsuccessful round with a fresh embryo and will be trying a frostie next month. I will have everything crossed for her!

snoopygirl · 25/01/2012 16:09

pebbles Just thought that there is a lady on BC Board who is over 12 weeks now and that was through the Sup Ov prog. Phew..

sue bargain for the fr tests thanks

suemays · 25/01/2012 17:03

I am sure the superov must work as otherwise they wouldnt do it.
Euro are you on the lowest dose of letrozole? Maybe if you feel the drugs they will work better?

I sometimes wish I was one of those ladies that just had problems getting pregnant rather than the killer cells as at least there are more recognised forms of treatment for it. I am almost loathed to spend money on IVF knowing that my body will do it's best to kill the baby! I have 4 friends who were told they couldnt have kids due to bad eggs and now have babies with IVF.

duggs1976 · 25/01/2012 19:45

I think I was first to go onto super ov and I've only had 2 rounds so we r all v new to it! It does increase the odds from just trying naturally if u produce the follicles u need. I might throw IUI in as I think sue has a point DH sperm count isn't v high!

Pebbles73 · 25/01/2012 20:32

Thanks for finding somebody the super ov worked for snoopy was getting worried there. I guess as usual it all comes down to being b*y patient!

If you do have to go down the ivf route Euro and sue it really isn't bad at all and much easier than you think it will be. I hope you don't have to but really it's fine and with everything you have been through anyway you will take it in your stride I am sure. :)

duggs1976 · 26/01/2012 14:27

Ladies I am on my iPhone so can't reach the new thread. Am sat at terminal 5 with s large malbec! My travel companion is Ali Spencer Churchill - yes his great great grandson and princess di godson. Hilarious. A new Topshop opening in Vegas and I'm on a plane with mr Churchill ?? I just want to be pregnant or surrounded by poo nappies. 5 days in Vegas for "work" then IUI when I return. If I gamble and win lots I might upgrade to IVF. How is everyone today? Just started letrozole ( airport run via asda pharmacy thanks sue)

Happy travels duggs!

sue I started on 2.5. This cycle I am on 5mg. Believe me I can feel the drugs! I am on CD12 now and finally emerging from hot flush and fatigue hell!

snoopygirl · 26/01/2012 18:32

hey duggs have a good trip (get you mixing with the aristo's!).

euro you poor thing sounds awful. Obviously affects some much more than others. How have you all found injecting the Ovitrelle?

jaffababy · 26/01/2012 20:02

Hi all sorry I haven't posted in a while, but I've been lurking! My DH had his sperm test this morning, so we will see what the results are in a week. I might be doing iui next cycle!
At the acupuncturist now for her, no doubt, to tell me I'm too stressed at work and need to slow down.

Hello to those I've not met! snoopy et al

I'm on my 4th cycle, so I'll tell you what Mr S says if no result this month. I'm glad we did find someone who's pg!
I don't have any skin side effects on letrozole, but I have had terrible low periods since starting treatment. I'm also on progynova for the whole cycle to thicken the lining of the womb. Whether feeling low is just the cumulative sadness of mc/infertility or whether it's caused by the drugs, I don't know. I've been a lot better this month, which is good, and a relief for my DH!
Will catch up properly v soon. Enjoy your hol, duggs!

jaffababy · 26/01/2012 20:03

Clarification: 'low periods of time', not AF!

snoopygirl · 26/01/2012 21:13

Hey jaffa hello, that's interesting - wondering if my 2 chems now would be helped by progynova. Obviously I am implanting but not sticking! interesting. Are you with Dr S?
Sorry you have been feeling crap, it's horrible when that's not your normal disposition as it were. Been bit feeling low too, and that's just not me x

eurochick · 26/01/2012 21:19

I haven't taken the Ovitrelle yet - I hope to this cycle. Last cycle because of Xmas falling when I needed my follow up monitoring scan, Mr S said not to take it because he couldn't time it without the scan. It is still sitting in my fridge!

jaffa I have been feeling quite low too. Like you, I am not sure if it is ttc or the drugs! Hormonal stuff always affects me badly. I get depressed and fat on the pill. The morning after sends me a bit loopy. I have avoided anything hormonal since my early 20s until this!

suemays · 26/01/2012 22:09

Ladies, its the preds making you depressed - its a common side effect and can make you have mood swings from really high to really low. They can also make you manic and paranoid!! Added to the whole RMC thing and its no wonder we all feel like we do.

Snoopy when they do your follicle scan they can measure your lining and it should be a certain thickness depending on your cycle day. I am not going to go to Dr S to have my follicle scans as I have found a local private sonographer that does it for a lot cheaper. She faxes the results to Dr S who then goes through it with me and prescribes my next course of ovitrelle/letrozole. He is happy to do this and it works out cheaper! That way if you cant get to NLC or they dont have any appointments on the day you need (as in my case), you dont have to wait a month.

I had one of my IVF friends with her husband come around to show me how to inject the ovitrelle as she has done it loads of times. It did feel a bit weird as they both came up to our bedroom with my husband whilst I laid down on the bed and instructed me what to do!! I couldnt even feel the needle as it is so fine.

Jaffa I have found a few ladies on babycentre who conceived on the superov plan so I wouldnt worry. So has it been 4 goes for you on superov or a combination of trying naturally? This is my 1st superov but I have been trying naturally before for 3 cycles.

Euro, not nice that the drugs are doing that to you - what did Louise say about it?

Duggs I will remind you about the pooey nappies when it happens for you!!! Enjoy Vegas x

Welcom Sydney. That's difficult when you have a super stressful job. But the drugs effect people in different ways so you may not be too bad. Good Luck and just bit the bullett as it were!

Sue that's interesting about the info on womb lining. When you said that before about the sonographer I looked one up in Leamington Spa so they might do the same it sounds alot cheaper but I was wondering how the results are discussed with him. And hilarious about having your mates round for an injection master class!

euro good to know Ovitrelle has a shelf life. mine is sitting down at the chemist and I know won't need it till next month.

eurochick · 27/01/2012 10:32

sue I haven't spoken to Louise or anyone about the side effects yet. They were not too bad on 2.5mg. I had one day of horrible hot flushes where I kept having to run out of shops and tear off layers but that was it. It has been much worse on the 5mg. I will discuss it with Mr S when I see him for my monitoring scan next week. TBH, unless I have some good follicles ready to pop I don't want to take it any more after this cycle. If it is doing good things I will tolerate the side effects to increase my chances.

On the subject of womb lining, my letters from Mr S following my appointments always mention the thickness of my womb lining along with details of my follicles.

Welcome Sydney. I have a pretty stressful job too and have managed to keep going through the side effects. After years of terrrible period pains, I have got quite good at just pushing on through regardless!

suemays · 27/01/2012 18:16

Hi Sydney of course you can join us! Hopefully you will find it helpful on here chatting to us. We all get different side effects but you might be lucky and only get one or two.

Euro do you know what your womb lining results were? Mine was 7mm around 3 days before ovulation. I have emailed Louise to see what they should be as want to cross that off the list of things to watch for!

Snoopy The sonographer I saw emailed the results through to Dr Shehata, they are used to doing it for other IVF/IUI clinics who do superovulation.

jaffababy · 27/01/2012 20:15

Hello, sydney and welcome to the thread. How exciting to be part of a trial!
snoopy I am with Mr S. I had two mc and then nothing for ages so thought I'd check out the NK cell situation with him. I don't have them so I'm not on pred. Perhaps it's the progynova causing my moods!

Someone asked if I'd had natural cycles as well, and yes, I have, but perhaps you meant on pred but not super ov? We have been trying for nearly two years to have a baby, and our last mc was April '11. I'm doing super ov because I have very very low amh.

I'm on cd 21, and I have had a couple of cramps but no boob pain, so I'm trying not to mental on the 2ww. I hate the 2ww.

Hope you all have brilliant weekends.

suemays · 29/01/2012 11:51

Bfn for me today so will test again in a few days. Only 10dpo so it's prob too early anyway!

jaffababy · 29/01/2012 12:17

Ah sue that's always a disappointment. V small positive thought is that at least you know the ovitrelle has gone from the system. I think we're on the same timing! AF is due for me on Thursday, which is CD27, and I'm 10dpo myself today!
